Tyson Motors sells unsafe used vehicles and then refuses to stand by their product. The used truck we bought has many major safety issues which makes it a death trap to drive without paying $3000 to bring up to "code" Tim, the manager hung up on me! We paid cash for this vehicle and since it was used did have expectations of needing to provide routine maintenance such as tune ups, battery etc. but instead we have found tie rods gone, RF hub needs to be replaced, front shocks leak, upper and lower ball joints are gone. They had to know about these defects as they themselves took the vehicle in as a trade in and their mechanic would have inspected it to establish a trade in value. I would recommend that everyone stay away from this dealership unless you want to get taken like we did! I have reported them to a number of agencies including Dodge Corporate so you see how serious I take their unscrupulous practices

Re; Laurie H. Worst Dealership Ever.
In response to your review, let's address what you have mentioned near the end of it. When you brought your Jeep in for transmission work you were told you should have brought it in a little earlier for a check up, but because you didn't your warranty was null and void.
You were notified by mail thru our service department here at Tyson Motor, that your vehicle was due for a powertrain inspection. You were then notified by mail FOUR times thru Chrysler Corporation that your vehicle was due for its powertrain inspection. You then had a phone conversation with our service director, Joe Prno, who apologized to you for the issue of the 4x4 shifter not being secure. Mr. Prno then spoke with you concerning all FIVE notices that were sent to you in regards to your required powertain inspection. The answer you gave Mr. Prno was "Do you know how much junk mail I get?" and that you "Most likely threw it away!"
Mr. Prno went ahead and consulted with Chrysler, and then provided the repairs need to your transmission for less than 1/4 of the entire cost. Mr.Prno also provided you with 2 days rental car coverage at no cost to you.
For your extended warranty to be in effect, you must follow the guidelines that are stipulated in the contract, meaning you must follow the recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle. It was your choice not to respond to all FIVE notices that were sent to you.
We wish you the best with your future vehicle concerns.

If I could rate this dealership with ZERO stars I would do so. I purchased a Jeep at Tyson. There were no problems with the sale but I have had nothing but problems with the service since day one. I've brought my Jeep in for an oil change and it was returned to me as completed but the oil was NOT changed. When I took it in for the first tire rotation they broke off one of the lug nuts and then tried to blame me for it. I took it in recently for transmission service that should have taken one day, One week later I got the Jeep back in the evening and discovered the next morning during a snow storm that they failed to reconnect the 4-wheel drive. I had to take it back so Tyson could finish the work that should have been done the first time. How was one week not enough to get the work done correctly? Tyson's service department has a terrible track record of not performing the work correctly, if they do the work at all.

I would definitely NOT recommend this dealership to anyone. And if anyone decides to go there anyway, be very careful with purchasing any extended warranty products. I paid a lot of money to have the top of the line full lifetime warranty. When I took my Jeep in for transmission work I was told I should have brought it in a little earlier for a check up but because I didn't my warranty was null and void. Read all the fine print. Do not trust them for anything.

Beware of this dealer. If you are looking for a vehicle just keep on looking and avoid Tyson. My niece drove seven hours from Wisconsin and was very nervous about purchasing a vehicle from out of her area. Tyson advertised that they had the vehicle she was seeking. The salesperson Jason was a complete erk. She is unfamiliar with the area and on the test drive e talked on the phone the entire time and then yelled at her when she did not know which way to turn. Then he ignorantly told her he had to get back because he had a deal to make. Upon return to the dealership she told him it was ok with her while he talked to his other clients so she could think over the purchase and he replied "Thanks for your permission." I worked with dealers all the time at Ford Motor Credit for over 10 years and this was not tolerated by dealer management. HE LIES TOO! He advertised brand new tires and smoke free vehicle which is a bold face lie as she found two cigarette burns in the vehicle and the tires are not new, they will need to be replaced in 6 months. My husband and i are both in the market for new cars.. no way i would purchase from Tyson and i will be advising everyone i know to refrain from buying from this dealership. With businesses all over the area suffering you would expect better customer service. BEWARE!

BEWARE! I found a Dodge Grand Caravan Tyson Motors Corp. had for sale on autotrader.com. I live in Rockford IL and was willing to drive the 73 miles to Shorewood IL to buy the vehicle. I called Tyson Motors and spoke with a salesman named Aaron. I told him I wanted to buy the vehicle and would be driving there later that afternoon to pick it up. Aaron told me I neede to pay with either cash or Cashier Check. I went to my bank and paid the $10.00 fee charge for the Cashier Check. I filled my tank with gas and headed to Shorewood. I paid tolls and was almost to Shorewood when my cellphone rang. It was Aaron calling to tell me they just sold the van I was coming to buy!!!! THEY SOLD IT OUT FROM UNDER ME!! Their word means NOTHING. I asked to speak to the Sales Manager. They put Jim on the phone. I was shocked when he defended Aarons actions. He said the man was there with the money willing to buy the vehicle at that moment and they didn't know if I would be coming to buy it. I told him a professional dealership who cared about their reputation and their customers would have called the person they PROMISED the vehicle to before selling it to see if they were still interested. I didn't even get the respect of a phone call!! So I burned up 1/2 tank of $4.12 a gallon gas driving there and back...wasted money on tolls...and paid the fee for a cashiers check based on the lie Tyson Motors Corp told me when they promised they would hold that vehicle for me! If they would lie about this they will lie about anything. It's businesses like Tyson Motors Corp that give used car salesmen a bad reputation.

I ran across this page and wanted to share my JEEP buying from Tyson motors. First, i have bought 4 new JEEPS from Tyson and our hats go off to Jim Kinney and how he has made the buying of a new veichal Easy with his easy to get along with personallity and i am going in to buy my 5th from them. i always do my price checking, and go to them and see what they can do.. and thats why im buying my 5th from them.
Well got my 5th from them and my son just bought his 2nt New Jeep from them. We had the Pleasure of dealing with Bill Smith for the sons Jeep and we commend him for taking the time to make the deal work for us, He was a very diligent sales Person and it seems that he not only went the extra mile But will continue to follow up long after the sale was completed.
I do not write reviews on my personal life except if it will help others.and buying a new Jeep/vehicle is a long and sometimes aggravating thing they seem to attend to your needs a lot better then other dealers.

Usually I would never deal with a dealer alone, I usually need company to keep me from getting aggravated. Took me by surprise for sure, excellent dealership. Great sense of customer service, which is what I like to see.

I have recently purchased a car from Tyson Motors. My salesperson, JP, was extremely helpful, honest, and an all around pleasure to work with. The sales manager, Jim, took care of all the numbers for me above and beyond my satisfaction. I did a little research on what I should pay for the vehicle and I also checked online to see what the value of my trade in should be. I came in prepared. They sold the vehicle to me for $1,200 LESS than I expected, and gave me $337 MORE for my trade than what it was worth. Wow. If you need a new or used vehicle, come to Tyson Motor, ask for JP, let him save you time and money.

Jim sounded beyond happy as he heard dollar signs when I told him I was having a vehicle towed in. He took the time to get the information and ask what was wrong with the vehicle. He later calls and says " We found out what was wrong with the car. We need to order parts and after we install them we will let you know." Hello this is Jim calling, the parts we put on your car didnt fix the problem. We need more time on the vehicle however in the mean time we still need to charge you for the parts we put on the car that didnt fix the problem. Thank you Jim , thank you for charging me for your techs to mis diagnose my vehicle.
Service is horrible. and if you dont give them the ok to continue diagnosing the car, they forget all about you. This is not the first time this has happened to me either. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. I would pay the extra fee to have my vehicle towed somewhere else.

I am actually in the Tyson Motors service waiting area using my laptop and the free wifi as I get an oil change. I have purchased a number of vehicles at Tyson and I come here for all my service. What an amazing, top class dealership! To the "jekyll and hyde" writter, Sean M., do you mean to say you took a poor salesman on not one, but two test drives in souped up sports cars--then you had your wife slap your wrist for doing that--then you bought a cheap car for a "couple of thousand dollars somewhere else" and then have the nerve to say the salesperson's "attitude changed"? Of course it did, you wasted his time and then bought a junker somewhere else! What did you expect, that he was going to spend half an hour on the phone asking how your day was and then invite you out to dinner? Wow. Some nerve. And let me tell you about the Service Manger Tony, he's amazing. Always friendly, never a problem too big or too small. They don't try to get me to OK repairs I don't need, and always are respectful of my time. I love Tyson Motors!

I was looking at purchasing a vehicle from tyson and the experience started off great. walked in and was greeted by JP who answered all my questions and took me on two test drives. One with a Challenger and the other with a Charger. Unfortunately, my wife was not thrilled these cars, so I had to tell JP that the puchase was on hold for now. Ultimately due to some life changes I ended up purchasing a used vehicle for a couple of thousand dollars somewhere else just to get me through a year or two of driving. When JP called to follow up with me a MONTH later, and I told him that I would not be buying now his attitude change 180 degrees and he could not be bothered to be on the phone with me anymore. So a word of advice to anyone who gets this bundle of joy, make sure you are ready to buy

Terrific! Tyson was able to fix an engine problem no one else could. I was treated well. I recommend this place to everyone. Just bought my daughter a new car here because they treated me so well in service. Took the time to write this opinion because they are better than other car places I've been to. Kudos to Tyson!

My husband & I went to Tyson Motors today 4-30-10. We were prepared to leave with a truck today, they had several vehicles we were interested in. We walked the parking lot, waiting for someone to come help us, needless to say...no one came! We then went inside the dealership, & walked around. 4-5 sales reps were sitting & talking amongst each other, no one said hello, how are u doing, not one word. Well too bad they lost out on a 20,000 sale. We went to 5 other dealerships every other place someone asked if we needed help, & assisted us to there best ability. Just thought it was really poor customer service, wish i would have read some of these reviews before even attempting to go there!

To Oliver K. I'd like to correct this for you .We run service at Tyson from 7:30 to 7:30 Monday thru Friday .I watch people come in EVERY DAY ,some without an appointment , especially in the afternoon-evening . There is no reason to drive around without A/C. If you have any problem getting in call the Dealership at 815-741-5530 and ask for me .I spend long hours every day to see that our customers are handled correctly . If we've missed it with you , call me. * 7/31/2010 Oliver, you haven't called me ,Tony. * As of July 2010 we have added Service 5:30 am to 10:30 pm Monday-Friday.That should get you in , regardless of your schedule .

NEVER...NEVER...NEVER go to this dealership.. I have purchased a car from them and have had a headache ever since. They can never service your car!! NEVER. My A/C is out, and still under warranty, but they can't see me. I've had my car in there a few time. Take breakfast, lunch and dinner with you.... they look at you like you have horns coming out of your head and that your car really does not need service, when in fact it does. If you need to go in for any reason, better call 2 weeks in advance to sit all day long.... I will never by from this dealership again. I've had a lot of cars in my life, and have never been treated the way this company does. I can see why Chrysler is having issues, If all the dealerships have customer service like this.

I bought a used jeep in August of 09. As a single mom, I was terrified to buy a car on my own. A lot of my friends and neighbors had recommended the place to me, so I went there. The manager Jimmy was kind and considerate. He walked me through the buying process and was really helpful. I had to take the jeep in for service in Dec. because it had a noise, and they took care of it at no charge. The service guys didn't make me feel like an idiot and they really took time with me until the problem was solved. They do business at this place like everyone is important and counts. They really appreciate your business. The best thing about this place is that I trust them. My friends were right. This is the best place to buy a car.

We purchased a vehicle in April 2008 and it was a terrible buying experience. And since then the service has only got worse. The service department is even worse than the sales, whatever you do if Steve is the guy you talk to in service ask for someone else. His people skills and professionalism are terrible. Run away from this place if you can!

I looked up info on Tyson Motor because I was looking at a Jeep. I was very disturbed to read the conflicting accusations with this anonymous lady. I pulled up another report that was dated just today about the issue that this lady had back in 2007. First off, I bought a used Jeep "AS IS". Just like it sounds....its as is, I signed papers stating this, that's why the car is cheaper than a new one. GET A CLUE!!! Also, it was stated she drove it 50 miles but in the new report she stated 60 miles.Apparently she can not remember, so how reliable can a woman who has to be removed by the police be? I just hope she never buys anything from me. Tyson Motors will continue to get my business from now on, I was treated very nice and they were nothing but honest and helpful.

The service at this dealership is ridiculous. I "scheduled" a service appt for Saturday & drop-off the Friday before, with one of the sales guys. And was extremely irritated to be told their shop is not even open on Saturdays, when I went there to drop it off Friday night. Thanks Buddy for "scheduling" that for me. I'd also previously taken my brand new Wrangler in to get the leaking top fixed and they had it ALL day (even though they kept telling me it would only be another 20 minutes). To only get it back with (instead of a drip) a river onto my dashboard every time it rained. My purchasing experiences has been okay- they're not aggressive or rude. But, I HATE to take anything there for service- even an oil change.

I was there that day and saw with my own eyes. That poor lady was pleasing them to help her out, but all of them were very disgusting and told her to go away. No she was not crazy at all. She was very nice, polite and absolutely very patient with them. I felt very sorry for her, and quite upset with sales people of that dealer. They left her outside on that hot day, and did not take any responsibility or stood for the van that they sold. It was a very sad situation for that poor lady. All I can say is: Shame on Tyson sales personnel. They need to learn how to do honest business or at least not to sell dead cars.

Hello John or whoever you are. PLEASE don't lie.
On Monday, April 24, 2007at 6:30 PM, I bought a used 1999 Plymouth Voyager at TYSON MOTOR CORP, Shorewood, IL. When
On Saturday, April 29, 2007 at 10:30 this van died in the middle of the street.
I had drove only 50 miles from the moment that I bought it.
I towed this van to TYSON in Shorewood,IL. I meet Alan the Person that sold this van to me. He told me that he does not care what's happen with the van. His words were: I sell cars and as soon as they are out of the dealer's property, I don't care.
I met Jim, The sales manager. I pleased him to help me to fix, trade, or give my money back. He was very brutal with me. He said that he is going to do anything to help me in any way. He called the police to remove and forced me to remove the van from their property. They have no respect, dignity, integrity to the costumers and they do not keep their words for the products they selling. I wish even my enemy not to experience what I went thru .
