Let me begin by saying that I highly recommend Dr. Amelia Hirota. Before I met her in person I was already familiar with Amelia's website. She offered such a wealth of information on this site I was very happy to find her in East Greenwich when I moved to Rhode Island. What a coincidence it was!
I am 39 years old and have struggled with unexplained infertility for more than 8 years. My husband and I have done everything short of IVF with no results save for the havoc wreaked upon my body. Under Amelia's care I became pregnant! I was with Amelia for about 7 cycles altogether, but the final four cycles were when I and my husband were really on board with her program and I became the healthiest I have ever been in my life no exaggeration! Not only was the acupuncture therapy amazing (and I have been to several other acupuncturists in NYC, Washington DC, & Greece), but also her individualized care was phenomenal. She first learned as much as she could about my entire history and then adjusted the personal herbal program accordingly, with real and lasting results. I became pregnant and remained pregnant until it was discovered to be ectopic. It was removed which was sad, but my recovery was so fast and my husband and I were so amazed that I had conceived naturally (something the IVF clinic doctors swore would never happen without fertility drugs, IVF, etc.) that the sadness turned to hope. I can conceive and hold a pregnancy for 8 weeks! The fertility doctors had gotten it all wrong because they had not looked at me as an individual. They had not asked the right questions regarding what my body needed. Amelia did! I believe that Amelia is a gifted acupuncturist and herbalist. She taught me so many things about my body, my emotions, and about how to really take care of myself; how to nourish my body and mind, how to remain in balance. She is a wise woman and whats more she gets results! We miss her so much that my husband and I are thinking about planning a trip to Hawaii! Trust her and you will not go wrong.

Working with Amelia was my first experience with acupuncture. I worked with her for 1.5 years, before she relocated. I first went to Amelia for my environmental allergies. I was allergic to most trees, dust, grass, cats, you name it. I tried all other avenues of treatment before I was told that acupuncture could help. Not only did she treat me for this ailment, she showed me how to change my diet to further improve my health. Within a few weeks of consistent treatment I could tell a difference. I could visit homes that had cats in them, which was out of the question before meeting Amelia. Since working with her I have treated other ailments such as pain in my arms (referred to as tennis elbow) . I work with my hands everyday all day and the work I do is quit strenuous on my arms and wrist. Again, Hirota treated me for these pains with acupuncture and herbs and the pains have gone away. I must add that it when I was being treated by her it was more that an hour or so of treatment, she would give me thoughts and suggestions of how to really care for my body whether it was an herb or certain food that I should eat or avoid. Finally, since being treated by Amelia I also have become interested in maintaining my bodies youthfulness. I am a Family Practice physician. I heard about Dr. Amelia Hirota from one of my patients. I had gone through one IVF cycle, but lost the baby due to a cervical ectopic pregnancy. My uterine lining underwent a severe scrapping because of this situation. And I was nervous about implantation success for my next attempt. And I learned that acupuncture can help. I was diagnosed with high FSH and was told that IVF was my best chance at getting pregnant. While searching for a practitioner in my area, I came across Amelia Hirota's website. The first time I spoke with her on the phone she filled me with hope. During my first appointment with her she patiently explained how her treatments work and assured me that I could get pregnant without ART procedures. As well as being knowledgeable and skilled at her work, she is clearly very passionate about what she does. She recommended a treatment plan that consists of weekly acupuncture treatments, dietary and lifestyle changes and the incorporation of Chinese herbs. Although medical doctors believe I have a small chance of getting pregnant, even with ART, I am confident that I will get pregnant naturally with Amelia's help.

We've all heard of people that are doing what they were born to do. That is the best way to describe Amelia Hirota. I have been treated by Amelia for several months in an attempt to prepare my body for pregnancy. I was newly married and excited about the prospect of making a family with my new husband but found out I had an obstacle to overcome. My doctor found a cantaloupe size fibroid that was occupying and distorting the space in my uterus. I came to Amelia (she was recommended by a friend who now has a healthy 6 month old) to discuss my options and future fertility. Having just turned 38 yrs old, I wanted to get her perspective on my condition and future. My first meeting with her was amazing; I learned more about my own fertility in that one appointment than I had ever learned before. Unfortunately, Amelia is leaving the Center of Balance so I will not be able to work with her but I feel very prepared with the tools she taught me to continue on my journey. If I could describe my experience with her in one sentence, I would say that she gave me tremendous hope and helped me realize that much of my potential fertility has to do with how I live my life and the choices I make. Just wanted to share my thoughts. During a difficult two years of "unexplained infertility" I went to Amelia to look for a more natural approach to becoming pregnant vs clinically, since multiple IUI's and medication did not work. In our past 3 meeting she has given me more understanding and hope than any other. She educates you on possible reasons why and gives you a plan to follow with a personalized approach. I would highly recommend seeking her out, her compassion and wisdom have given me the belief that I will be pregnant.

Amelia is wonderful!! I was having trouble sleeping for months and was taking Ambien almost every night. Now I am sleeping without it!! No more Ambien hang overs! She was also very helpful with shoulder and back pain. I'm sad she is leaving my area but all you people in Maui are lucky to have her!!
