I've been riding and competitively showing in Tucson for the past 7 years and have gotten to know both the twins and their students. They are both friendly and always cheer for their students and give them lots of positive encouragement

There are only a few real boarding facilities that offer a good value and don't tolerate bad behavior. A few people who have been kicked out of the good barns write bad reviews to get even. Don't let their reviews effect your decision for good care of your horses. Check every barn out personally before you make a decision

Pros: Well designed facility

Cons: Nothing worth talking about

So it is easy to see even though you changed your name and text a little that the bad reviews are from the same person. I board there and have to say everything that was claimed is false. They treat your horses like they are theirs, i know because i am there many times a week and see first hand. I have never seen them do anything that was unsafe, its the opposite actually they take every step they can to make sure no one gets hurt. They are always nice and on time, and are very good trainers. I think that Hjumper806 needs to find something better to do with their time. The place speaks for itself, if you are interested in boarding or learning to ride, stop by and check it out for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

I have been riding for over 5 years in multiple barns around the city, however this place has by far given me the best experience. Abby and Jenny care about the rider and how much they improving, unlike many other trainers who are much more time and money driven. They work with you and your schedule and are always extremely supportive and positive during lessons. They will extend your lesson just so you can end the day on a "good note" with no additonal cost at all.
I now board my horse with them, and willingly make the 45+ minute drive 3-4 days a week for this unique place. When I thought my horse and I had reached our jumping potential, the twins worked with both of us to the point where we are now jumping 4 ft+, with more to come.
They are constantly updating their already fabulous facilities, and continuing to expand their business. I recommend this place to any rider, at any level looking for an extremely positive, professional, and fun barn.

Doubletake Equestrian Ctr. has excellent trainers. My daughter started riding last fall with Abby and Jenny. She did not now much about riding. They have taught her so much. She had become a great rider in a very short time. Saftey is aways a priority here at the barn and that is very important for me as a parent. I have never feared for my childs saftery while she has been at the barn. They are always very professional. They are always possitive. They have even taught me alot, being I don't now much about horses. You never hear a negative remark with any of their students wether they are new riders or experinced. They have awesome schooling horses and ponies. My daughter has ridden all of their schooling horses and ponies, they are all great. They take excellent care of their horses. They helped us purchase the perfect horse for our daughter. We board our horse there and couldn't be happier they always let us know what is going on. They take care of their boarders horses as if they were their own. Thank you Abby and Jenny for the great work you do and continue to be the professional trainers you are.

These girls are so awesome. They have trained me to jump and I am so excited every time I go there. I am always treated like family and the girls are always honest with you. You can tell they work hard for what they have and are proud of their establishment and it shows - the facilities are GREAT! They have the best school horses and they also have two great barns to house your horses in. I assure you the horses there are soooo well taken care of! Their primary concerns are rider and horse safety and did i mention that they are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO GO GO ride there!!! You will NOT be dissatisfied, you will love it and you will want to be there all the time like it do :)

I cannot believe the petty attempts to insult these girls. Having taken lessons from them for a year now, I strongly disagree with the negative comments I've seen posted. My riding has gotten alot easier since I started recieving instruction from a qualified trainer.(I believe the only qualified trainer in Tucson)These girls will bend over backwards to satisfy a client. The facility is top notch. Very well designed. The footing and drainage can't be beat. Students learn on proper equipment with excellent instructions. In my time in Tucson, I have seen alot of back stabbing, really bad training and an overall low moral content in the equine industry here. In all my years in this business, people as honest as these girls are very rare. Anybody would be priviliged to train here. I see all "the best" trainers and riders across the country all year long (as I travel with horse shows for a living) and very few can instuct and ride as well as Jenny. The only thing "crazy and obnoxious" is how a bitter, jealous person spends their energy trying to insult others rather than better themselves. Get a life.

I have been taking lessons at Doubletake Equestrian for a few months now. I absolutely recommend them to anyone who is looking to get started with riding, or improve on existing skills, or stable a beloved companion. A few items about them, listed at random: easy parking, a great view of the mountains while riding, shady barns with comfy chairs to sit and watch, large stalls with automatic watering systems, regular feeding, several arenas for turnouts and two for jumping. One of the many things I like about Doubletake is that the trainers really want you to bond with the horse; you are encouraged to take charge of all grooming, tacking up, cooling down, hosing off, etc. They will be standing there to help you when you need it, but the goal is to make you as confident & independent as you want to be. The schooling horses are worked enough so that they are dependable, but not enough to keep them from being spirited and responsive. Let me address the remark that another reviewer made regarding the disorganization. From my experience, when you are working with horses, it is impossible to always stick to a timetable. Horses have good days and bad, just like people. Sometimes it takes longer to tack up, or maybe a rider is finally ready to jump- but the hour is up. The trainers at Doubletake give the horses and riders the benefit of their understanding. Sometimes lessons run over and the next lesson has to wait; this does happen occasionally. But, that rider will have gotten the extra ten minutes she needed and will go home exhilarated, having accomplished her first jump. For the most part, I find that my lessons are on time; and the times I've had to wait, well, the ride has been more than worth it. The enthusiasm that the trainers have for riding is contagious. They will be sure to point out even the minor technicalities of riding while keeping you positive & proud of your accomplishments. Anyone who is serious about their love for horses will be happy at Doubletake.

Pros: Enthusiastic trainers; real chance to bond w/horses; guaranteed concern & care for the animals

Cons: E Old Vail isn't paved yet; not always strictly on time

Well, having spent a week having lessons from Jennie and being a qualified English riding instructor myself back in England I have no idea what the previous comments are on about, both the girls know there stuff and barns are fantastic, yes there is a train track about 200 yds away but all I ever saw was freight going about 10 miles an hour. Can't imagine a better place to learn nor a more knowledgable pair of trainers who do nothing but incourage you but do let you know what is wrong with your riding. I can only assume that the previous comments are from people who either are awe of the place and want to put it down or don't like what they have been told. So from someone who has been involed with horses as an owner and trainer for over 40 years and from a place where there is only English horse riding you cannot go far wrong and would board my horses here without any qualms what so ever, and to be trained by someone who just fell short of riding for the USA olympic team what more would you want, the facilites are top notch and the horses ar great so go see for yourself you wont be disapointed.

Pros: everything

Cons: The heat outside, but thats tucson cooler in the barns

I spent a couple months out there riding. At first I got a good vibe from the barn and the people were welcoming, but as time went on I grew frustrated with the way I was being treated as a client. The two trainers (the twins): lack knowledge about the equestrian industry, are extremely disorganized, and inconsistent. They canceled lessons more often then I actually got to ride. Don't let them fool you, the barn is new but far from attractive: dusty, dirty, windy, 100 yards from the noisy train track, and in a trailer-park. Although the barn selection in Tucson is small, shop around and don't waste your time with Doubletake.

Doubletake Equestrian Center has just opened a brand new riding facility in SE Tucson. They have 15 acres and stalls for 48 lucky horses. There are two huge arenas, two large turnouts and three round pens. I never have to wait! They offer full care boarding and great instruction for new and advanced riders. The facility design is great. Check out their website for pictures and prices www.doubletakeequestrian.com. If you are looking for a new clean and well run stable, you should look at this place.

There are several good equestrian facilities in Tucson and quite a few that are marginal. Doubletake is the newest and IMO the best designed stable for equestrian sports. They have 7 arenas and turnouts, spacious insulated barns (very nice this time of year!) and onsite mgt. If you want to see a lot of pictures go to their website. I've been here about 2 years, but they are the best facility I've seen in Tucson. Very family oriented and well run. Maybe I'll see you there!

I am moving in next week and can't wait. I took two lessons already and had a gas. Great jumps and a perfect layout for the serious rider. Today was 106F, the barns were shady and cool and the soda machine is right next to my stall. Great job you girls. Way to go!!!
