I live on Bee Street which is down the street from the Sequoia and it is a treat to be able to walk over for dinner. There is alot of history there, if you get a chance you should ask the server about the history of the building. It is across the street from a very interesting large old pioneer cemetery. (Denzel Washington filmed a movie in the Cemetery there last fall and we watched it while we were eating our dinner). There are many ghost stories surrounding the upstairs portion of the building, and it rumored that there are 8 - 10 ghosts residing up there. You can take a tour of the upstairs which has a wonderful sitting room where you can enjoy your desert. The building used to be called the Bee Bennett house and then it was a lodge for the BPOE for several years, we used to go there for our neighborhood watch meetings.. I took an out of town guest there on a Wednesday night last week and was pleasantly surprised by the Prime Rib Special and the bistro menu (much less costly than the regular menu, but you have to get there before 6:45). I ordered the $14.99 Prime Rib (Wednesday only) and received a large cut of meat which was prepared to perfection, along with a fully loaded potato, fresh asparagus a popover/fresh bread and a side salad. What a deal! I could not have made it at home for the same amount of money. I have been fine dining in many cities across the US and Europe and must say that I have NEVER been disappointed at this restaurant. There is a Sunday brunch and you can sit in the sun room while eating your meal, or you can eat in the main dining room which is very beautiful with incredible furnishings and the windows outlooking the restaurant are very large and ornate. Enjoy !!

We made reservations in advance and were promptly seated. The cocktails were cold and fresh, the appetizers prompt and enjoyable. And the main course arrived after we were finished with out appetizers. ( a pet peeve of mine) The steak was medium rare as ordered and while not the best filet I??ve had, I was not disappointed.

The atmosphere was quaint and overall, we had a nice evening. Thanks Sequoia

This is a beautiful restaurant, however, after trying two sub-par entrees we were left unimpressed. The food quality does not match the fine dining prices. Unfortunately, after writing to the Owner twice, we received no response. We found this lack of response to be appalling. For a true fine dining experience, drive down the hill to Masque Ristorante, El Dorado Hills -- there you'll get your money's worth. Don't waste it on Sequoia unless you're only interested in the ambience.
