Amazing service. My cat was extremely ill, and Dr. Tadros made himself available for calls at any time of the day or night. (I think we actually woke him up one evening!) He never charged us for any of the extra attention and found other ways to help us out on the financial side of things, too. The cat, who was at death's door, has recovered and is back to his old self on a fairly inexpensive supplement regimen. Only caveat: Dr. Tadros has a fairly thick accent- my boyfriend doesn't have any problem understanding him, but sometimes I have to ask him to repeat himself.

I paid $360 for my kitten's shots (3 sets). After the first set, worms appeared in her stool and apparently the vet never dewormed her as promised in the first set of shots. I returned the next week and they dewormed her for free, but I did not realize this was only the first irresponsible act. When she was 8 months old, she was suffering from constipation and inappetance. I took her back to the vet, they charged over $400 for an xray, enema and several medications. The problem got worse, so I took her to an emergency hospital in Manhattan. They told me to immediately stop giving her the medications (so waste of $100) and actually charged me less for xray and blood tests. I have since moved and requested (myself and my new vet has requested) her shot history/information eight times. They do not fax the information. I have called so many times asking why they cannot fax her information and each time they either act incompetent, or hang up on me. I have only received 2 faxes- one of which was the information that the NY vet had faxed to them, and the second was one bill from one of her shots. I do not know how to get the information from them and am worried that any of the shots they did give her were legal- if anything they did or charged me for was legal. I DO NOT recommend anyone taking their pet to this hospital!!

I have been to Dr. Tadros' office 3 times in the past 7 months, and the staff has been different every time. Because the vet techs also manage the front desk, and because Dr. Tadros spends so much time greasing up the pet owner, a half hour visit dragged well past two hours.

The first two times I brought my cat in, I already had a good idea of what was wrong (ringworm, then tapeworm) with her, and he gave her a very strong antibiotic injection, so roughly that my cat, usually very quiet, mewled out in pain. Despite the doctor's peeling skin and overall oily appearance, he was nearby and did what I needed him to do. It was not cheap, considering he doesn't tell you what he's doing until after he's done it to your pet.

On my third visit, I didn't know what was wrong with her. I had done some quick googling on common cat ailments, so I suggested she might have a UTI. He immediately took this suggestion at fact, gave her a quick once over (ears, eyes), and gave her two more very painful shots. He gave me a choice between bloodwork and a urinalysis, and I chose the latter. He charged me $35 for a ziploc bag of plastic pellets (non-absorbent litter), and the invoice also showed an unnecessary vitamin shot was given to her. I walked home, dazed and desperate to get my cat away from two other angry clients. Once I dropped my cat off at home, I went back and told the vet tech that I would like to get a second opinion from someone else. He disappeared into an office, probably to speak with Dr. Tadros, then reappeared with a refund for the pellets I brought back. Minutes later, Dr. Tadros calls me, demanding to know why I had chosen to ignore his (really, my) diagnosis. I told him I wasn't comfortable with-- and he cut me off there, shouting that he had given me a choice, a choice between the bloodwork and the urinalysis. I thanked him, and restated that I would be seeking a second opinion from another professional. He thanked me sarcastically and said that I was welcome to leave at any time (which was confusing, given the fact that I had already left the neighborhood).

Dr. Tadros is a competent vet with a mismanaged practice and displeasing personal traits. Lastly, I want to add that during at least one exam, Dr. Tadros spoke freely and unprompted about his dislike for another patient.

Dr. Tadros was wonderful - empathetic and clear. My little mini poodle had an infection and was dehydrated. The doctor explained everything clearly, unlike Astoria Vets, where the doctor charged me 600 dollars for another dog and didn't even allude to the fact that he had a tumor which caused him violent seizures later that night. I highly recommend Dr. Tadros. He cares and makes you feel like you're his only client and that he loves your dog as much as you do.

Horrible vet! Warning do not take your pets to this man. All he cares about is scaming clients out of their money. I could not afford further testing to be done on my cat who had loose stool for a couple days and once I told the vet I would try medication only he spoke to me very nasty and walked out of the exam room. He didn't even explain the medications to me but a technician who didn't really know what the medication was for tried explaining it to me. Overall this place is very unprofessional I will be taking my cat to another clinic. Thankfully the medications have helped.

"Absolutely wonderful! Dr. Tadros and staff treated my baby with lots of love and professionalism. Dr. Tadros even caught an ailment that my cat's old vet had found, but didn't tell me about. The office is clean, bright, quiet, everything to keep an anxious pet calm. Very caring people, just a really great vet experience!"

I can definately say Dr. Tadros was very generous with my dog sophie. He was very helpful in finding a correct diagnosis for my dog and even managed to bring a ultra sound doctor to his facility just to take care of my sophie. Sophie had a tumor and they needed to know if it spread to any other organs. Luckily it was caught on time and Dr. Tadros did a marvalous job removing the mass. Dr. Tadros was very kind and also considered my financial problems and the surgery was very costly. Dr. Tadros and his staff are just great. I have had bad expriences with other vets around the area so Im glad I found him.

Dr. Tadros is the best veterinarian I've ever been to!!! Some vets treat you as if you're overreacting but Dr. Tadros completely empathizes and knows the love you have for your pet. He cares so much and you truly get the impression he values the health and happiness of animals over things like profit. The facility might not be top of the line from the outside but you can confidently take your pet here. Because of him, my cat who probably didn't even have a few weeks left is still alive 8 months later!

I must say that I have nothing but love for this Animal Hospital! My cat Hojo was treated with nothing but love and affection through the many visits we had with Dr Tadros. He worked with my budget and even took money out of his own pocket to help me with medical costs. Unfortunately in the end Hojo had to be put down due to cancer. Each step of the way the animal hospital worked with me and truly cared and valued me and my pet beyond all I could have ever expected! I hightly recommend this place for your pet! I can promise you that you will leave knowing you got the best care you could imagine!

Steinway Animal Hospital has the best staff, always friendly and they know how to handle both emergency situations and general checkups. They keep wonderful records and when I lost my cat they followed up with cards and letters which meant alot to me. Now with my new kitten they've already assessed her needs to keep her healthy and groomed too! Let's not forget dental care! So drop by this very clean and professional pet health establishment and see for yourself. Centrally located on main avenue, near subways and buses.

My cat Delphi was very ill. I took her to Steinway Animal Hospital, formally Astoria Animal Hospital. The practice was sold to Dr. Tadros in April 2007. I was very worried about my cat and concerned because I did not know this vet.

Dr. Tadros was so professional, kind and gentle with Delphi. He was patient with me and my husband; he took time to explain everything to us,and was unrushed, even though others were waitng to see him. I was allowed time to spend with my cat each day after surgery and Dr. Tadros, his staff and I (yes, I was allowed to stay in the office with my cat after office hours) stayed late into the night the day my delphi had major surgery.

The Dr. was extremely honest about the possibility that the cat would not recover from this type of surgery due to her age (14ys) and the extent of her cancer, but she is alive and well and is know in the kitchen eating her food. The cost of the surgery and care was explained to me prior to the procedure and what I payed was what I was quoted; it was a fair price. I do not feel I was overcharged for anything. I highly recommend Steinway Animal hospital>
