FIND ANOTHER DENTIST IF YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN YOUR CHILD'S CARE.
Oh my gosh! I am sssoo disappointed. Based on the reviews here I was confident we had found a great dentist for our 3 year old son.
Ruined our son's teeth; we will see another dentist to get this fixed. By their magic, they do a sloppy job and you receive humongous bills.

This is my 3rd time going to Magicland dental I really like going. Eversince we started going doctor Shah has been the dentist for my 2 kids. She's really nice take's her time with her patients at least I feel that way. About the staff I don't have any complaints. They take their time to do Xrays. Doctor Shah take's the time to explain to the parent what's wrong or what's not wrong. I recommend Magicland dental office to any parent.

Magicland is the place to take your children. This place is amazing. The kids actually wanna go to the dentist. Doctors are professional and experienced. Staff are fantastic and kid friendly. This place is great. After reading some of the reviews, I was not sure. My daughter did have cavities and the doctor showed them to me. With the kind of Xray they take, it is easy to see the cavities for yourself. Just to be safe, I took the xrays to my dentist and he verified. He was amazed at the quality of the xray and the importance of catching the cavities early and treating them accordingly. Thank you Magicland!!!!!!

At first blush this place looks like a good place to take your kids. We started using them over a year ago when our insurance changed. The first few times were just for cleanings, and my girls really liked to go, "because it was fun".

You will notice they have a lot of video games and TV's in the waiting room for the kids. This is because you will be spending a substantial amount of time here. (We've never waited less than 30 mins and sometimes almost an hour). Unfortunately, most of the games never work, and in the 5 times I've been there, I have never seen the theater TV on.

The front office staff is quite pathetic. You will have to repeat yourself many times, deal with them pulling the wrong charts and telling you one thing and doing something else (like scheduling you at 2pm when they told you 4pm)

The Drs are friendly and do take the time to answer questions, but they are all about billing for procedures (whether your child needs them or not). They recently told us that our 5yr old would have to have two front teeth pulled out because of an infected root in one tooth. I had a problem with that because it would be 2 years before her adult teeth grew in. They tried to scare us into having it done while we were there, saying it could cause serious damage and even death if we didn't. When I asked about alternatives, they said they could do a root canal, but it only had a 50% chance of working and would involve a crown, and having that tooth banded to the adjacent teeth which would trap food and be a breeding ground for bacteria and ultimately tooth decay.
I scheduled the appt for two weeks later, asked for copies of the Xrays and sought a second opinion. The second dentist was shocked that they wanted to pull two teeth when only one was affected, and said that she didn't see any reason to pull either tooth. Instead she recommended treating it with antibiotics and a follow up visit in two weeks. She said that if the antibiotics didn't take care of it, they could do a very simple procedure (she called it a mini-root canal) to remove the infection from the tooth and keep both teeth exactly where they are. When I asked her about the probability of success, she said 99%. I told her about Magicland??s 50/50 chance of success and she just looked surprised and shook her head in disbelief. She said there would be no crown, no banding, no issues with cavities etc.. And more importantly, no gaping hole in my daughter??s smile for two years.

While I understand that dental medicine is subjective, and there can be more than one ??right course of treatment?. I believe the staff at Magicland is going to go with whatever bills the most $ in the least amount of time, regardless of what is best for the children.

Even without the questionable dental practices, the poor front office staff is enough to drive you crazy over time.

Going to Magicland is NOT WORTH THE RISK!. There are many better options in the South Bay.

Its absolutly phenominal! im a patient there and i love everything about magicland that i dont want to leave! I got my first cavity and I was very upset and scared, but Dr. Shaw and all the other amazing Drs. told me not to worry. They told me what they were going to do and i said ok. I love how they dont touch my mouth until im ready. I say, " Ok, now im ready!" i kept waiting and i said you could start. They said that they were already done! I was veryyy shocked and suprised! I was distracted with all those tvs in front of me! I love going to Magicland and i reccomend that you go too. If you want your kid to be happy when they leave then you now know where to send them! I love you Magicland! you get an A++++++++++!!!!

My kids have been going to Magicland Dental for years, and we have always been highly satisfied. My kids love the environment (especially since moving into their Sepulveda Blvd location) and the dentists/staff are very good at explaining everything, and trying to make it as easy as possible. A+++ rating!

My kids have been HAPPY Magicland patients for years from when they were in the small office to their extravagant location at 3820 Sepulveda BLVD in Torrance. My kids have been cavity free untill 1 1/2 years ago. Gotta admit- we laxed on the flossing, and sure enough my daughter got cavities. To make sure, I took her for second opinion. The first thing the other dentist asked was how many cavities did they diagnose. Sure enough he diagnosed less. I had him fix her teeth. After 6 month, my daughter developed a serious tooth infection. I took her back, and was not happy with the explanation. Thank goodness I brought her back to Magicland Dental. They explained to me that the cavitied that the other dentist did not diagnose had gotten bigger, and the work done by him was not even done properly, and so the development of infection. I took my daughter to my general dentist for 3rd opinion. He verified the diagnosis and said that he has been referring his own patients to Magicland dental for years and the quality of work they do is the best that he has seen. He also explained that some dentist are willing to downplay diagnosis to win the patient trust and business.
*** Please do not be fooled by other dentists diagnosing less cavities! Magicland has top of the line diagnosing tools that provide early detection, and thus less cost and trouble in the long run. Do not make the same mistake I have made.
Thank you Magicland- you have my trust 100%

I thought it was great. I took my seven year old there. We had Dr. Shah and she was really good. She said my daughters teeth were doing great but showed us places we need to take extra care with brushing and flossing. Office was very kid friendly. I made an appointment to start taking my 4 year old there too.

NOT recommended!!
My 7 and 3 year old wen there for check ups, cleaning, etc.
When they got home, my 3 y/o daughter told me how bad the x-ray hurt..No big deal I thought, maybe it scared her. My 7 y/o son had a few cavities (they said) and they needed to be handled right away!!!. My wife made an appt. after being pressured.
After hearing how "cool" the place was by my 7 y/o I was going to show a co-worker pictures online and stumbled upon these reviews.
Sure is funny that others have complained about them not being gentle with the little ones while doing x-rays, kids having cavities that need to be treated RIGHT away etc etc.
Told my wife to cancel the appt. and she did. That was last week, today my wife get a bill for almost $300.00 and finds out that our Ins. has already been billed for the rest,,, OF THE PROCEDURE WE CANCELED AND NEVER WENT TO!!
After a phone call when were told that they bill automatically once the appt. is scheduled, they are reversing the charges but what the hell type of place is this?

This is probably the worst dental group ever! Sure they have toys, games and it probably looks very kid friendly..right? So wrong...it's a gimmick to bring in more kids..like a lure to a trap...because more kids means more $$$...brought my son there thinking it would be a fun experience...what a nightmare...1. first thing they did was charge my credit card for services, mind you we weren't there maybe more than 10 mins when the front desk charged us for services...we hadn't even been seen for services yet!! I had always thought that it was practice to pay after services rendered..because how do you know how much you have to pay for what services!! 2. after cleaning I was told my son had to have extensive work done on his teeth!! what??!!! you are talking over $1,000!! plus the dentist never even examined my son!! he only got to see a hygienist!! 3. I told them that I wanted a second opinion, then lady flipped out and started telling me if I waited too long my son would be bleeding..would be my fault...etc. etc. I am super glad I took my son to another dentist...work done on him was no where near what I was told in the beginning. Beware: if you take your kids there you will be paying for services not needed!!!

This place may look pretty and have games/toys to distract the kids but I would NEVER come back or recommend this place. Some of the staff were patient and nice. One X-ray technician basically grabbed my daughter's face when she moved her face (she's THREE for god's sake)! Then I was told that she had multiple cavities and I should get fixed done NOW and that she NEEDS to be sedated! (By the way, My daughter went to another dentist at Hermosa six months ago with no cavities.) So not knowing anything, I let them do the procedure. Stupid me, I know. They sat me down and explained the cost to me (sedation was not covered by insurance and is very expensive $300+). After they were done, my daughter couldn't walk from the drugs so I carried her to my car after they told me that I was done. I got a phone call an hour after I left the office and they told me that if I didn't pay, I would be charged a late fee!!! Seriously? I always thought that dentists bill you for charges (that's how my personal dentist is anyway). If they just let me know in the office, I would have paid it, no questions asked. Did I need to be threatened with a late fee within one hour of leaving the office? I think that this place has making money in mind more than they care about what's ethical to do.

I think the ortho dentist is top notch, however the confidence of the support staff is way beyond their capabilities. Take for instance the manager of the Torrance office on Sepulveda blvd. Her main goal is to have a parent sign up for a program and she does not care about the parents desire to completely understand the dental activities that only a dentist can provide explanation on. Wish the owners of this organization would assist to tone down the manager, who by the way is NOT a dentist.

Are they dentists or magicians? The correct answer is both! Here at Magicland, they have created a place where children do not have to fear the dentist anymore. No more nightmares about big scary drills, no more painful thoughts about the dentist. This place is perfect for kids!

I always had to struggle to get my son to go to the dentist. He dreaded it, due to those nasty cartoons that picture dentists as evil doctors who yank your teeth out. After hearing about Magicland Dental, I decided to make an appointment for my little boy and hopefully erase his fear.
This place is truly magical because after our first visit, My son was very pleased and realized that going to the dentist was not scary at all! (Unless you are getting a root canal! lol)

I am thankful for Magicland Dental and I recommend it to all parents who are struggling to take their children to the dentist.

The other reviews are glowing, and with good reason.

Quick, efficient, and pleasant, the dentists at Magicland Dental are there for the teeth. I never thought I could actually go to the dentist's office in a good mood instead of dragging my heels and dreading it. Even when I had to get 2 cavities filled this week it was like heaven compared to the long, uncomfortable, drawn out hour or so it took with my previous dentist. My dentist had those suckers filled up in about 20 minutes and I was out the door.

Magicland Dental is a great place for children. I bring my niece here, while I myself go to their other location, the Dental Associates of Torrance. Magicland is great because it keeps the kids entertained so they won't get scared and think about drills and other scary dentist stuff.
I highly recommend that everyone bring their children to Magicland Dental because it is simply the best!

Our 1st visit went well for our 18-months old son. There were several children activity centers throughout the waiting area which made the waiting period bearable. The dental chairs are lined up in a row so there's no privacy, but I'm not sure if there were any private rooms as the facility seemed quite large. The staff was friendly and we plan to return for his next check-up.

My five year old son got some cavities and for the first time I took him to my family dental office. He got terrified and cried so much that the doctor could not do his job. The doctor referred us to Magicland which is an office specialized for children dentistry. I got appointment and as we entered the facilities, it was more like a children entertainment center than a typical dental office. My son kept busy playing with arcades and watching movies. When it was our turn, a nice lady Dr. greeted us and jokingly opened the conversation with my son. I privately explained his previous bad experience with dentistry. The Dr. gave us the option of providing complete anesthesia or minor oral sedation. Naturally, I chose the second option. I was warned that my son might still resist, so for his safety, he needed to be secured in case he moved during the dental procedure. Then the Dr. distracted my son by showing the cartoon characters on the walls and led him to the dental chair where a TV monitor was showing a Disney movie from above. My son was scared, but some how he had managed to keep his calmness. He cried a bit, but he was more agitated than felt the pain when the Dr. quickly finished the procedure. She even put protective sealant on the teeth to prevent against future decay. Many dentists have not volunteered this service when I discussed it with my friends. Since then, I have returned for two semi annual check ups and no extra work has been needed. My regular dentist was also impressed with the quality of their work. My son is not quite comfortable with dentistry, but he is more willing to visit Magicland. I am very satisfied with the friendly environment and excellent dental services Magicland has provided for my son.

I definitely recommend Magic land to everyone. I took my 3 yr old daughter because she needed to have 4 teeth removed (they were infected) and the staff and Dr. Michael were great. The staff were very patient with my daughter, gave her balloons, toys, and even put the movie Cinderella for her! Come on, they don't do this at other dentists. My daughter is such a cry baby and I can't make her stop crying with anything that I give her, but at Magic land she did not cry at all, not even when Dr. injected her to give anesthesia!!! That means my daughter felt that she was well taken care of!

I took my two kids to Magicland and I was impressed with the professionalism and service.
The decor is so cute. The kids have their own little door, and there is a train that goes around the office. The doctors and staff went the extra mile to make sure my kids and I had a great experience! They emphasize prevention. They go over diet, habits, etc. I recommend Magicland to all.
The doctors and staff are extra gentle and caring. Best of all they put the kids on a 6 month check up. Thank you Magicland!!!!

I took my daughter to Magicland and I was amazed with the service. They were very caring and very gentle with her. She did have cavities and I was shown exactly where they were. I cannot believe the comments other parents left. I guess some parents don't do their part with brushing and flossing and just want to blame someone. I was very impressed with the experience and expertise of the doctors and staff. I wouldn't trust my daughter to anyone else. My dentist reffered us to them and after the work was completed my dentist was very impressed with the quality of the work. They took their time with teaching prevention. This was more than my dentist had ever done! I recommend Magicland to all my friends and family . I urge you to be objective. No one likes getting their teeth done least our kids. We need to be the adults teaching our kids manners and personal responsibility. At Magicland they did the best possible helping my daughter cope with the treatment. Not only she did not cry or "have a fit", she was very proud of herself!!! Unfortunately some of us parents blame others for things our kids do. I was very impressed with Magicland. I got my daughters teeth fixed there and now she has a new start. I will make sure I brush and floss her teeth. I will make sure I take her back every six month so I give her the best opportunity with acheiving dental health!!!!

Although the facility seems appealing at first blush with its "kids friendly" set up, I was not pleased with the results. Magicland told me my child had multiple cavities, would need a root canal and would need some teeth crowned. They also told me that this work needed to be done right away and that my child would need to be sedated, I was mortified. All I know is that when I took my child to another dentist with many years of experience (more than this particular dentist at Magicland) it ended up that my child needed two fillings and that's it. The other dentist also indicated that because of my child was a calm patient there was no need to take the unnecessary risks of sedation! And that a few weeks of waiting would not be harmful to my child's teeth. Judge for yourself.
