1 Stars: Too full and full of itself...run away! (by Slag)

Drove out from SoCal to attend the big Halloween party at Tao the Friday before Halloween...this was also supposed to be the Saw IV release party. This was my 2nd time at Tao (my 1st time, not being so good).

Now I've partied all over four continents so I do have a point of comparison. Let me just say that TAO SUCKS JURASSIC BALL SACK!!

There's more to a club than fancy d?cor and cute girls and yes it was packed; guess what, plenty of other clubs in Vegas can boast that.

So we got to the club in costume and witnessed the total unorganized mob scene where the bouncers stand out in front and take bribes. We had a package with Sienna and got escorted in by their hostess (good company). Once in, I immediately get berated by some bouncer, telling me to put my mask up (I was wearing an Obama mask for my costume). Apparently they didn't want anyone wearing masks in their club (or they were democrats). What?? Is this not a Halloween party? Without the mask, my costume was unrecognizable and pretty useless...of course no mention of this policy on their website.

We make it out to the main level which is filling up fast. First off, no sign (literally) of anything having to do with Saw IV so I don't even know why they mentioned it. Next we ask a bouncer where we sign up for the costume contest...one idiot sends us upstairs, another one sends us downstairs...clearly these people are even more confused than the mob. We sign up at a table where two very cynical people are handing out contestant numbers...they give us a supposed time when everyone is to be called up for judging.

Meanwhile I notice that the roof/pool area is closed (two times in two visits). I politely ask another bouncer why the roof is closed and my answer was, "BECAUSE IT IS!" Geeze, what an as*hole. Found out later that they closed it for the "winter" even though its nearly 80 degrees outside. And once again, nothing about the roof being closed on their website...funny, every other club had theirs roofs/patios open.

Still trying to enjoy myself; having a lot of fun with other folks who are dressed up and generally having a good time. Everyone is looser when wearing silly getups. So my costume turned out to be pretty popular and I posed with a lot of people for pics...ONLY to be pulled aside by yet another black-jacket storm trooper who threatened to throw me out if I put my mask back on again. Starting to get really pissed at this point.

Now comes the contest time... WTF?? NO calls, no judging, no audience participation... A couple of hand chosen (back room) candidates were walked out on to the balcony and declared winners. HUH? What is up with this place? I've seen fairer elections in Nicaragua.

Sooo... After finishing my last $15 drink, we decided to give Tao the finger and look for another venue.

My Recap:
Cover - Ridiculous
Patrons - Most people were pretty cool
Bouncers - Total Dicks!
Bartenders - No problems
Drink Prices - Outrageous!
Event - Completely unorganized (charley foxtrot)
Management - Couldn't give a sh*t about their customers...you're just a number.

ADVICE - Save your money and have a better time elsewhere. Still ten bucks for a double vodka redbull at Rain.

1 Stars: Not Gay Friendly (by justice333)

My gay friend was repeatedly approached by the bouncers at Tao nightclub and finally they escorted him out. The bouncer asked if he gay and told him that was why he was being kicked out but that his opinion did not reflect Taos opinion. I will never go there again and I suggest other people do not spend there money at a hate club!

2 Stars: It's a nightclub, not a restaurant. (by Wingchild)

I visited Tao in the Venetian believing it was a decent asian restaurant. I was quickly disabused of this notion.

Seating: I went on a weeknight with no reservation around 7pm. The place was empty - two tables seated out of perhaps fifty total on the ground floor - but the hostess made me sit and wait. This is to give you a chance to relax in their lounge area and get you to start drinking. Unfortunately for Tao their drink menu is particularly uninspired; half a dozen variations on flavored martinis at $14 each. A poor joke for the alcohol conniseur.

Waitstaff: The waiter I received was fairly obnoxious, not because he was rude, but because he wouldn't shut up and let me enjoy my meal. I don't really need a best friend who's always in my face telling me about what an awesome place I'm eating in. If the restaurant has style, good food, and is pleasing to be in, it will show through without being pimped every few minutes. For drink suggestions my waiter was quick to hard-sell Voss. If you've not had it, it's bottled water much like any other but with a prettier bottle and a higher price tag. A place that hard-sells water is more interested in its appearance to outsiders than in serving delicious food.

Meal: I went with blackened steak with udon noodles and was served a respectable noodle bowl. The meat was good quality but not otherwise noteworthy. Someone confused udon noodles with lo mein for my dish, a fact I giggled about for the next half hour to follow. Also ordered the scallop tempura; good, but would have been better if it weren't limited to two small pieces. Also ordered kobe beef sashimi. Somehow they've made kobe taste like roast beef. Seriously - go to your favorite deli, have them slice you off a piece of roast beef, and try them side by side. See if you can tell the difference.

I couldn't do dessert here; spending more money on average food with a pushy waiter isn't my idea of fun.

The interior was very pretty; the sumi calligraphy on the ceiling was quite fetching. Loved the buddha. While the place has style, it lacks ambiance, as you can hear other waiters pushing Voss on other tables full of tourists; you can see tables with unappealing $14 drinks all around; you can watch the cognitive dissonance set in as diners try to convince themselves they're having a great time.

They aren't. It's all style, no substance at Tao.

4 Stars: One really busy nightclub (by ny516)

Well for one, it's not hard to find since the line is usually pretty long but it's actually not as daunting to get in as it looks. Once you get in, the downstairs is nicely spread out and it's a nice area to kick back and have a drink. On the other hand, the upstairs area at Tao is PACKED with people, along with additional VIP tables and a dance area. The drinks and service have always been great at Tao and it's a place I'd recommend to people but despite the price I'd also recommend table service there since the large crowd can get a bit overwhelming at times.

Tao is a place of pure unadulterated fun! Hot chics, hot waitresses handling our bottle service, great music and seemingly neverending club with three different DJ's and dance floors. Plus the decor's not half bad :-). Definitely would recommend Tao to anyone looking for a good time in Vegas and it didn't slow down all the way up to 5am when they had to push people out of the club.

4 Stars: Please see Barrie when you go to Tao Las VEGAS! (by SingleinSinCity)

PLEASE SEE BARRIE AT TAO!

Last night I went out with friends to Tao Nightclub in the Venetian. We went to the back bar where it was less crowded to get some drinks. I set my hat and handbag down at the bar directly in front of me. I made the mistake of turning around to talk. When I turned back around my purse was gone!!!!!!!!
I start flipping out and the bartender saw me and asked what was wrong. I told her that my handbag had just disappeared. She immediately described it. She also saw who picked it up! She immediately grabbed security and then actually came out from behind the bar with the security person. She then walked me through the club looking around. She went directly up to a group at some tables and spoke directly to a guy at the table saying that his friend had taken my purse. After some strong discussion between her and him, we turned around and there was the girl with my purse! She walked right up to her and told her that she saw her take it off the bar and that it was mine. The bartender even waited while I went through it. Nothing was missing thanks to the fast actions Barrie! I cannot thank her enough so I wanted to spread the word! Truly my guardian angel.

I think her true calling may be as a detective or FBI with that memory of noticing of details, especially at a busy club on a busy night. So when you are at Tao Las Vegas, please ask for BARRIE. Please visit her and please take her your business when you are there."

2 Stars: My least favorite club in Vegas (by Tina S.)

This place is far too pricey and crowded (although it was pretty empty this past weekend). I suppose I'm getting too old to want to be groped by teenagers with fake ids or young 20 somethings. I'm in my twenties, but the club, like much of Vegas seems very sleazy. The almost naked girls in the bathtubs are just tacky. "Always a happy ending" Are you kidding me? The music is decent, but I would never go there again.

2 Stars: Tao Asion Bistro - Bad Service (by goldielox27)

My husband and I were in Vegas celebrating our anniversary and decided on dinner Saturday night at TAO. We had show plans at 10pm so we made our reservation for 7:15pm (we were staying at the Venetian and the hotel concierge made our reservation for us). We arrived promptly at 7:15 and were given a pager and told that our table wasn't ready. After TWENTY FIVE minutes, we were finally seated. No one apologized for our wait or tried to do anything to accommodate us for it. The sushi, I would say, was just OK, we've definitely had better. Our waiter was OK....nothing to write home about. When the check came, my husband asked to speak with the manager. A girl that was about 25 came over and my husband explained our late seating and how we were now going to be late for our 10pm show (it was 9:15pm and we had to get to the other end of the strip!). The manager said she was sorry but their reservations run late sometimes and offered us free dessert....HELLO! We just said that we had to go or we would be late for our show. In the end they comped the $8 Edamame, woo hoo. Had this experience happend in our home city, the appetizer/dessert would have been taken care of before we even sat down. For what is supposedly a top rated restaurant, we were supremely disappointed!!!!

3 Stars: Great music, but I'll go somewhere else next time I'm in town. (by Beoncia)

My husband and I took my best friend to TAO on her birthday while we were in Vegas. She wanted to drink and party, and TAO seemed like the place to go. The atmosphere was pretty cool, and the wait in line was only about 10 minutes (it was just before midnight on a Thursday night). I had done a little research on club attire for Vegas, so we were all dressed appropriately. However, that didn't seem to matter because I saw quite a few people inside in clothes that I would not consider appropriate for one of the supposedly "hottest" clubs in the country. (One girl was in white capri pants with white flip flops--hardly worthy of a velvet rope, which would have been fine except that there WAS a velvet rope and guys with earpieces and clipboards.) The club cover was not as severe as I had anticipated--$20 for my husband and $10 each for my friend and I--but the drinks were pricey and had considerably less alcohol than I wanted in a $12 drink. My husband drank non-alcoholic drinks and still paid $4 each. He was unimpressed with the drink prices, club staff, and packed-to-the-gills-dance floor, so he left and gambled in the Venetian while my friend and I attempted to dance. The music was fantastic; it was a great mix of hip-hop with a little Prince thrown in (my favorite type of dance music) so we were very pleased with that aspect. After about an hour and a half of the dance floor, I was ready to leave and we made a VERY SLOW escape through the crowd, downstairs and back out to the casino. Overall, the music and ambiance are the best parts of the club. The staff pretend that the club is really exclusive but they still let everyone in, so the attitude of the staff at the door is completely unnecessary. Lower drink prices and a bigger dance floor would really help. Next time we're in Vegas I'll be in a different club--there are just too many to hang out in one that only warrants 3 stars.

4 Stars: Good Club on the Strip (by pmsiilbc)

Tao has a good ambiance and setup. There are two levels for your partying pleasure. It has a good size dance floor and plenty of areas to talk. The downstairs DJ (at the entrance) had a good vibe with his spin. That area is mostly for lounging. Upstairs is where you can really get down. Tao does not have the "Wow" factor like other clubs, but it's ambiance more than makes up for it!!

5 Stars: Best club in Vegas, hands down!!!!! (by GinaLee24)

I had the best time in Vegas because of one of the promoters at Tao! He took care of us the whole weekend and it was 20x better than our first visit when we didn't have a hookup! His name is Mike Nagar and you can reach him at 678-770-8286. He'll explain everything that you need to do to get in the club (can be really confusing) and then help ya out for the rest of the weekend! The club itself is phenomenal!
2 Stars: no room to dance, bad set-up! (by missaz9)

Tao is way overrated! Every time I go there, there is no room to dance on the tiny dance floor and there is only 2 narrow exit/entrance to the dance floor. The bouncers tell you to move every place you try to stand so you just have to keep walking the whole time. I prefer Pure or Tryst...if you can get in!

2 Stars: "Best Club In The World" - sez 'Good Reviews For A Dollar" (by mikestalin)

There is never a long line to get in, and the bouncers welcome everyone like a VIP, even if you are not a shrill, shallow coke mama, like Whitney Houston. The blend of music is perfect, the food excellent and reasonably priced, the place is just perfect, perfect, perfect! Why, if we had a club like this back in Podunk, Ohio, where I am from, I would eat and dance there every single night of the year! Yes, this is the place!
Ok, did I earn my dollar yet?

1 Stars: worst club in vegas HANDS DOWN (by happydr)

they somehow got my last review removed. guess they have some pull with the citysearch people.
This is THE WORST club & restaurant in vegas BY FAR.
terrible "over the top" security. Horrible line hand-picking.
Bad ratio of men to women. and the women that are there, aren't very good looking.

Save time, save money... go to eat ANYWHERE else and try Tryst for a good club.

2 Stars: Be just another face in the crowd! (by bbasbt)

Overkill on the buddha statues, club so large you get lost, bathrooms nearly impossible to find and then you wait long, warehouse-like feeling, floor was slippery, crowd was average, parking is far from the club, need to walk FAR to get there. Go go dancers were unimpressive and models sitting in bathtubs (who puts bathtubs in front of a club???) were stuck up and unfriendly.

SOOOO much FUN!!! OMG my firends and I were there this past weekend and had such a great time! I've been to Vegas a bunch of times and been to a lot of the other clubs, but I think Tao is my new favorite. It was a little crowded, but that just goes to show you how popular it is. The DJs were so great and played a bunch of different mixes. I'm so bummed cause I jsut found out that I missed Erick Morillo by one weekend! Are you kidding me?!

4 Stars: Good Vegas club (by Paula C.)

TAO is really great most of the time. On Thursdays, locals get in free with a NV ID. The music is usually pretty good, and there are different rooms to choose from. The "beach" on the 3rd level is really great during the summer, but there isn't really anywhere to sit down, except on 1 bench on the 2nd floor by the stairs. The bartenders at the main bar make better drinks. They may seem a bit pricey if you're from out of town, but they're pretty standard for the Vegas strip. I'd recommend going there, but see if you can get on the list, because the lines and prices to get in are awful if you're not on it.

3 Stars: Ridiculous Line EVEN if You have VIP Tickets (by boopbooper)

My husband and I decided to go to Club Tao because we were staying at the Venetian. As you well know, you can usually get in to the clubs for free if the venue is at your hotel. We decided to have dinner there and then go dancing after. Much to our surprise, after we were done eating we had to GO BACK outside and wait in the long line! Even though we already had VIP tickets, we still had to get out of Tao just to wait in line again. It was ridiculous -- the line was even wrapped around the corner. Thankfully, my husband had a few words with the manager and pushed our place in line closer to the entrance. We stayed for about an hour and it really started to fill up, at one point we decided to leave because it was way too crowded and upon leaving, I still couldn't believe that there was still a huge line wrapped around the corner -- at 3AM!!!!!

1 Stars: Biggest waste of time and money! (by jessdds)

We went to Tao Saturday night. I was really excited because I had heard so much about it. We knew some people who live in Vegas and they said they could get us in Toa VIP with no cover ($20 for girls and $30 for boys). Once we got there about 10:30 the line was crazy outside. I never would have entered if I had to wait in that line. We got in without the line but there are so many bouncers that each one thinks they're more important than the next (too many cooks in the kitchen). So our hookup couldn't get us in with no cover too. Anyway the decor etc.. was nice but that's all. The place is full of girls that look like prostitutes with old men and teeny boppers. Trying to dance is impossible. It's so crowded you can move. There is no point in going unless you buy a bottle. (2 bottle minimum for Sat. night = $400/bottle -> $900!!) What a waste. The music sucked. It was all hip hop. There was no mix- so if you're not big into hip hop etcc... don't plan on dancing. Mary J Blige and Whitney Houston were supposed to be there that night, but we left because it was such a dissappointment. I would rather waste my money on a slot machine, it's more fun!

Whatever u do DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT TAO, it?s a waste of time and money, shoot even if u get in for free its still definitely not worth it. Cuz that?s why we even went in because even though everyone was telling us to leave cuz the place sux we still were like who cares we?ll even pay for just a few minutes to at least say we?ve been there and to know that we really won?t go next time. Its just the worst club in the universe needs to be closed down for safety reasons. In the matter of 10 seconds in that club a guy like shoved my purse almost off my arm and a girl slammed her camera hard into my nose cuz there was no space at all. And I was just done with that place. I hate it, close it down!

He told me if i was ever in town at vegas. I should check it out and he gave me a card. I got my self and some of my group of guys and girls on the guest list. We got in and the place is breath taking and the scents were amazing, very sensual. It's like i was somewhere else. We all partied and had a blast. I want to thank the bartender at marquee and hope he is well. I highly recommend. It's like new york but in vegas with asian style!

5 Stars: "Only in Vegas" (by BlakeDoyle)

O.M.G. only in Vegas can you find a place like this?. My boys and I were visiting Vegas and heard about Tao, what we got was a night to remember. Vegas is full of clubs and most of the time the door men just stare at you when you say you want to get in but NOT at Tao. They treated us like VIP baby (even though we weren?t) and they let us right in. Once we paid a small cover it was like entering haven as the door?s opened, there was SO many girls. The music was awesome too. I?m not sure were they got this guest DJ but he played the best mix of music I?ve ever heard. He mixed house with hip-hop and top 40 which I?ve never hear and it was cool and fun to dance to. I also liked how they free pour my drinks. Most clubs you pay crazy amounts of money for barely any alcohol, which burnes a whole in you pocket fast, but here they poured them just how I like them ? strong and were fairly cheap too. If you?re in Vegas check this place out cuz they now how to party!!!

5 Stars: AGH....who can forget there first Vegas nightclub experience? (by Heather T.)

Thanks to some good friends who were having a party here...I never will!

My friend and I had no idea what to expect and were told through garbled phone conversations to just walk to the front of the line and tell the doorman we were with his party. Boy were we surprised when they opened the ropes and led us upstairs to a cabana on the top floor. On our way I only got a brief look at the downstairs part and I wasn't really that impressed. The music was just so so and it was CRAMPED!!

Upstairs was a whole other story! The cabana/table that we were seated at was just big enough for our group (about 15 people!) and there was still room to dance in there. We tried making our way to the actual dance floor but turned around when we could barely shake our asses out there. The music was the best dance music out there! I couldn't sit still the whole time! There's also tons of eye candy for any guys that you may be with, including go-go dancers WAY up on a stage and naked girls in tubs covered with rose petals.

If you are planning a trip to Tao (which I think you should!) try and get a table and be sure to get on the guestlist! The line that we did see when we went in was wrapped all around!

Should an agreement be honored? I think so. Obviously those at Tao do not. Group of three guys, of course it will be hard to get into the club on a Sat. "Dine in the restaurant, your in" they say at the phone, at the door. We agree. After dinner, word is . "Oh, you need girls with you, and even then you have to wait in line." DO NOT TRUST THEM, they are essential CROOKS. Food is better than average, but nothing you cannot get many other places in town, so no wonder they tell the myth of the dine for the club. I won't lie, the club looked fun, but don't believe their B.S. at the restaurant. CROOKS.

What a freaken cool place!!! When my friends and I were in Vegas we went to a little place called TAO and had what most would say was unbelievable Vegas experience. From the time we got to the table line there host treated us like royalty. To the table inside man this place is awesome. I wish they had places like this were I lived because I would party there every night. There theme is like one I have never seen anywhere and trust me I go out like 8 nights a week. They got these girls all over doing performance art (live) and its sooo HOT plus the music was nothing but hits and the girls were soo fresh. I?m not sure where they found these girls or where they come from but I want to go there... TAO is definitely an experience to be had while in Vegas!!!

5 Stars: Best Nightclub in Vegas!!! (by MirandaIsHot)

My girls an I checked out Tao last week and we had SO MUCH FUN! The club was amazing and getting in was relatively easy. We called ahead to get on the guest list so we only had to wait a few minutes (I recommend this to ANYONE). Once inside the place was unbelievable! The lights and the music rocked! We ended up staying until about 3am and had so much fun.

I would recommend Tao to anyone visiting or residing in the Vegas area. It is so worth it and will be an instant favorite!

5 Stars: Bachelors Party Wow! (by mickeyboy80)

I went to my friends Bachelors party at TAO. I Didn't expect to have a good time. We all pitch in for Table reservation. Got there and saw a big line for admission felt bad for them. We got in VIP status. The rest is wow! Girls in tubs, go go dancers and girl on girl. I highly recommended it.

5 Stars: Neverending Party (by KiwiKisses)

I have been to TAO on many occasions and I always have a great time. The restaurant opens at around 5pm so make your reservations ahead and have a great meal to start the night (don't forget the dessert here, the giant fortune cookie filled with chocolate mousse is heaven). As for the club, I reccommend bottle service for a perfect experience but even if you're on the guest list or just looking to get in, still an awesome time. The music never stops spinning great beats (they even mix old school Madonna here! gotta love that!) and crowd never stop dancing. Friendly bar staff, great cocktails (try them all if you get a chance sometime), and beautiful decor, what more could you ask for? Sure, the crowd can get heavy at times and the admission lines are busy, but come on people... this is Vegas, one of the tourist capitals of the world. If you plan ahead, you'll never go wrong. Will be back in May for my 26th birthday, can't wait!

1 Stars: Overrated (by LuvMyBear)

I just think this place is way overrated. We had dinner reservations and we still waited for about an 1hr for our table. The prices were expensive for the amount of food we received, and after spending $300.00 on the bill, they were giving us the run around when we tried to get into club. It was horrible i will never go there again.

5 Stars: Such a blast! (by AmandaRussell)

One of my girlfriends and I decided to go to TAO last Saturday night, since neither of us had been. We had so much fun! I had called ahead to get on the guest list (full knowing that nightclub lines can be horrendous!). We had no problems getting in. Upstairs the place was incredible! The decor alone was breathtaking and the music ROCKED! We danced all night long and stayed until almost close. It was a little packed in there.. but no worse than any other Vegas club I have been too. I would totally recommend TAO to anyone who wants to have an awesome time!

Me and a group of my friends got table service a few weeks ago at Tao and it was one of the best experiances ever.
5 Stars: Best Birthday Experience! (by MissLuckyLady)

I recently was in Vegas for my 24th birthday and we had not yet decided where to celebrate the occasion. We kept seeing the many billboards for Tao all around the strip area ("always a happy ending" was the slogan, love it!) so we headed to the place towards the evening to find out. Nightclub wasn't open yet so we put our names down for the restaurant then we'd head upstairs after. We waited for about 10 minutes or so but it was well worth it. The food has such amazing flavor (first time I had shabu shabu, they brought it out on a stone with a hot kettle of broth heated over it to cook the meat in, soooo good!) and the sushi, being a favorite of mine, was very fresh. The staff was friendly too, they even put a candle in our dessert with fortunes for everyone, super cute! To make this birthday even better, we found out that we qualified for line passes since we dined in the restaurant... one word, awesome!!! So we headed upstairs, paid our entry, and got in. This club had to be one of the most creative places I've been in, lots of eye candy (girls wearing almost nothing sitting in rose petal filled tubs was just one of the surprises), beautiful decor (totally all for the red chandeliers), even the bathrooms were gorgeous, you really felt like you were in a high class club. So we stepped up to the bar, ordered a few cocktails (Taotini is amazing), and went the dance floor. Yeah, it was a bit crowded but it was easily overlooked because of all the fun were having. My advice: make reservations, it helps!... You're gonna have to wait in some lines, it happens, it's Vegas... And if you want to celebrate a special occasion, let them know! They make you feel that much more special. This had to have been my best birthday ever and I can only look forward to next year. ROCK ON TAO!

5 Stars: Awesome Night Out (by brightonn)

I've heard a lot of great reviews of Tao from friends of mine so I finally decided to check it out. I had such a wonderful time- the people were awesome, the drinks and music were perfect and I can not wait until my next visit! The Nightclub was so nice and I loved that there are different rooms to enjoy different music. The drinks were pretty average as far as price goes- but the service was great! I definately recommend checking it out!

4 Stars: Best Industry night in Vegas (by ilove2party)

I'm a Vegas native and I hardly go out, but when I do, I go to Tao on Thursdays. Locals get in free, they just make sure that there's one girl with every guy. They've got the best events and contests, they don't charge us even though they have celebrities hosting. The only thing is that it can get pretty packed, so we always go there early and we use the casino restroom instead of the one in the club. I'll be getting bottle service on my birthday so we'll have a place to sit.

1 Stars: Pretensious squared. (by skippyatoz)

Firstly, Tao labeling itself as a "bistro" is like the Hell's Angels calling themselves a "motorcycle club". Get a dictionary, guys.

I'm not a club person, so I won't comment on Tao's merits as such. Viewed purely as a restaurant, this place is a breathed-on PF Changs. Wait staff is inattentive, and our large party was crammed around a large circular folding table (guess who got to spend the evening kneeing a metal table leg?) Don't plan on an evening of conversation, as the pounding and incessent techno groove rules that out.

5 Stars: Such a great club! (by lizsafford)

WOW! I cannot even begin to describe how breathtaking TAO is! I have lived in Vegas for a year and finally made it to TAO last Saturday. My girls and I had a blast! We had no trouble getting in (we had called in advance to be placed on the guestlist).

The decor is incredible and the DJs play a very ecclectic blend of music that keeps the party going all night! And how can one forget the gorgeous girls in pasties and tiny thongs bathing each other throughout the night?! Brilliant!

The only downfall to the night was the wait at the bar to get a drink... but that is typical with any prominant nightclub in Las Vegas.

I TOTALLY recommend TAO to anyone who wants to experience a Vegas club at it's best!

I was planning my b-day and heared good things about Tao. I arrange a table service for me and friends there. We went there and they right away seat us at our location. It wasn't the best sitting but we didn't care. The waitress was very attentive of us. They treated us like celebraty's. I had so much fun and when out of nowhere they came out with a cake and fire craker things. I was surprised. My friend went all out. I just have one thing to say. Tao is amazing and I can't wait for my birthday again. Just to let you know also. I have been there withought table service and ofcource our heels are going to hurt but I had fun. From all the clubs I've been to. TAO is the best. Crouded like the other clubs but great surroundings. Amazing =)

1 Stars: Uncomfortable and Unfriendly (by stricklandj)

My friend and I went to Tao last week for her birthday, and I felt so terrible because she ended up crying at the end of the night. We are very familiar with going to clubs, and know that a table reservation is a smart move, however it's not exactly reasonable to do so when it's just two girls. We stood in line for nearly an hour as other groups were pulled inside before us, none of whom had reservations. The doormen are terribly rude, just shoving people to the side. I'm not sure if we just didn't have a good enough "look" for the doormen, but this was disheartening from the start. We finally were in the door, paid and inside, only to be dropped in front of a mob of people attempting to get a drink. Twenty minutes later we finally have drinks (which, to our disappointment, practically have zero alcohol content), only to have my friend's knocked out of her hand as we tried to push our way to the dance floor. The place was so crowded it was impossible to move about without getting elbowed in the face, pushed, shoved, have our feet stepped all over, and drinks spilled on us. The music was too loud and empty sounding (not to mention just bad), and there was no flow. The security guards inside kept shining their flashlights at people, telling them to "keep moving" even though there was no place to go. The women's bathrooms are upstairs on a balcony where men on the floor downstairs are able to stare up girls' skirts while they are waiting in line, and the area is so cramped you have girls snapping at each other because they think you pushed into them on purpose. It was just an all around miserable experience, and my friend broke down crying on our way home because she had such a horrible time. I don't think I'll be recommending this place to anyone.

1 Stars: BAD customer service!! (by kaya2007)

I will NEVER go back here again nor will I ever suggest this place to a friend or family member. A month ahead of time, I made some reservations for a party of 10 (my bachelorette party), I did what they asked and faxed my credit card info and agreed to pay a penalty if I cancelled without notice or had less then 10 show up the day of.

Day of the reso's..they made my party wait then GAVE AWAY our table claiming that the first of our party that checked in changed our reservations to 5. All 10 of us were all ONTIME and early at that! We asked to speak to the "manager" which was useless, even after explaining our situation. The front of the house cannot multi-task and they are extremely RUDE. Totally unprofessional and horrific customer service. Thank god we didn't spend our hard earned dollars there. I will never go back to Tao. We went across to Stack, they we gracious enough to accomdate us at the peak of dinner with little wait. Food/Drink GREAT at STACK. DONT BOTHER WITH TAO!

I was there this past weekend with 3 other girls. We got complimentary passes from promoters on the street. That should have been our first clue not to go here. If a promoter is pushing you to go, you know that its not a good place. Thankfully, we didnt have to wait outside in a line. we got rushed to the front of the club, we arrived around 1:30. Not many people were there, not good music, the place was so dark it was like walking through a maze. We couldnt find the exit. We aimlessly walked around bc we couldnt find a place to stay. Go to TAO in NYC. Its so much better....

3 Stars: As a first time experience... (by missnatalie)

I liked TAO. Most of the reviews on here scored the club low. I was told by a friend that when you go on a website to purchase "front of the line passes" - roughly around $40... **Print the online confirmation - this is literally your pass**its hassle-free. So we did and it definitely worked. I scored TAO a 3 only because at first, when we arrived, I let the security know about the online passes and they had no clue... I didn't print out the paper but we were told that all we had to do was give them our name. After 15 minutes, we FINALLY talked to the 5th security guard and he helped us out. TAO is definitely crowded and really hard to dance in. My recommendation is to definitely get bottle service, or score with a group of guys or for men- a group of girls to let you in their seating area, otherwise its a little irritating to wiggle in- especially if you have a drink in your hand. Awesome ambience and theme is super cool. Definitely a place to see professional athletes, celebrities, etc. You also will see a lot ofupcoming atheletes, too. If you just want a club to dance in and mingle, purchase the front of line passes and make the best of it, special occasions or a group somewhere between 4-10- bite the bullet and get a table.

5 Stars: Best Club in Vegas! (by vegas07)

TAO is not only an unbeleivable restaurant, but it is also one of the best nightlcubs in Las Vegas. The club is very large and the decor is an Asian/Buddha theme. On any given weekend, you might even see some Celebs...because this is one of the paces that they visit while in Vegas. They recently opened up TAO Beach, which I have not had the pleasure of going to. I have heard that the pool and cabanas are AMAZINGLY gorgeous. If you are coming to Vegas and are wanting to party it up, you have to come to TAO.

2 Stars: Too crowded. (by babyboozles)

While it was a fancy, HUGE, and highly decorated place, a lot of the reviews I am reading seem pretty accurate. I picked up a pass from one of the promotors on the street and called the club to get on the guestlist for no line (call betweem 3-5 if you decide to go) which was impressive for Labor Day. The staff was friendly and professional, but we got herded like cattle up the stairs. While I got there early (10:30) it got EXTREMELY packed later (by 12). Dont even think about ordering a drink, using the restroom or dancing in the mainroom. You cannot sit anywhere: all seating is reserved and if you try sitting on a ledge or a planter you will be hasseled immidiately (ouchie for my feet in heels.) When I decided to leave, two different security guards told me the wrong way to get out. It was an interesting experience, but I have a feeling even for the people paying for bottle service would not be nearly as glamorous as you might think.

1 Stars: Honestly, I cant even rate this club! How does ZERO stars sound? (by ashleywmc)

Please heed this advice given and avoid TAO nightclub at all costs. Never in my life have I been crammed into a club like this! Absolutely no where to sit- and for us girls in heels, this doesnt work! Thanks TAO. Trying to have a conversation with friends is near impossible. The staff thought as though they were extremely important- and came off incredibly rude, when I'm pretty sure we paid to get into this PIECE of a club! Dont even attempt to use the restroom... as they only let 2 people in at a time, so hold it! Oh and to top it all off, when trying to leave, 3 different doorman told us 3 different wrong ways to leave the club! Hopefully there will never be a fire there, because even the staff cant find the exit.

1 Stars: Never again in life! (by samieb)

Wow, I see I wasn't the only one who hated it! We went in July and while shopping in the Venetian earlier in the day, we asked the hostess in the restaurant about the club. She told us it was $10 per person for the evening, ladies free. We grabbed a business card and called before going, and we were told the same thing. We get there, the line was ridiculously long, but moving fast cuz we got there early enough (always recommended in Vegas). They were being picky about what the guys were wearing, but we were all dressed appropriately. We get to the door and we are told $20 per person! We explained our actions earlier, but the woman at the door and and security didn't blink and insisted it was $20. We paid, get in and head to the bar. Every drink was $12, including beer and all shots! I have been to Light in the Bellagio several times and didn't even pay that much for beers and shots! Add to it the place was overcrowded. You couldn't even stop to have conversation or sit down anywhere. Screw the "beautiful" people! You couldn't see your own damn feet, let alone what was before you because it was so dark. Dancing? Forget it! It was wall to wall people, and everywhere you walked you had to squeeze, push, and press past people. Yeah, $12 drinks were getting spilled all over the place due to bumping and pushing. We got super dressed up for nothing! The club is huge and lovely to look at, WHEN EMPTY. And the restaurant, I would never eat there! With the huge volume of people trampling through the restaurant to get to the club upstairs, the ambience of the restaurant is completely ruined. And security was awful! They had huge flashlights that they were waving, shuttling the crowd like cattle, yelling at people to "keep it moving". C'mon, is that "classy"? The whole experience was disappointing! I will never go there again and will not recommend it to people who are going on a future trip to Vegas.

1 Stars: A piece of Vegas best left skipped: Tao at the Venetian. (by dvsx77)

The food was 50/50... it seemed like the worst kitchen possible handled the appetizers and sushi while a slightly decent chef handled the main dishes. The place was grossly overpriced so you're really just paying for the atmosphere. My fiancee and I were extremely let down and the place did not live up to the hype. Our hostess said that our dinner ($185 mind you) guaranteed entrance to the nightclub after but of course incompetent doormen & nightclub managers had no idea what we were guaranteed an hour before. Save your money and go somewhere else. Our group of friends who made it in the club were split up since women were the only ones allowed upstairs. My fiancee and myself, on the otherhand, refused paying to go in since dinner was terrible and their word meant close to nothing. Honestly, if you want good asian food then go to an Asian restaurant, not an asian-themed restaurant. If you want a better Vegas experience take your spouse to Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill for dinner @ Caesars and the Mix @ Mandalay (the Hotel) for after dinner lounging and drinks, where at both places you'll be deeply satisfied.

1 Stars: Single Guys with no girls = no Tao (by jazzanova)

Too bad there isn't a "1/4 star" option as a rating choice. To be honest, i never made it inside the place. After reading the reviews posted hear, i'm kind of glad we didn't get in. The red velvet rope captain told us we couldn't go in unless we had a couple ladies or we were on the guest list. The 1/4 star would be for the fact the he was polite when he asked us to step out of line. He unlatched the rope and everything...what a gentleman. Heads up guys, if you're trying to get in, a) be on the "guest list." Don't ask how and don't expect it to pull any wait according to girl standing in line behind us. b) have at least 2 hot chics per guy (actually, if you have two hot chics per guy, i recommend partying in your room. c) don't waste your time. What's with the buddha? Ghengis Chan would be more appropriate. I'm used to LA house clubs were you can be yourself, no guest list, no attitude, good music, good times. If you want to have fun in vegas, i recommend the lounges. usually free and the drinks are just as expensive as the clubs to give you that pretentius feel. Cheers

2 Stars: Dinner was fine, but the club is TERRIBLE! (by ccm77)

I'm a New Yorker who does the "in" restaurant and club scene in Manhattan on a regular basis, so I'm used to coping with the drama that tends to be involved with see and be seen places. However, there's usually a pay-off with so-called exclusive venues -- if you're subjected to that kind of drama, there should be a hot crowd inside and enough space to enjoy the club. Not the case with Tao!

My girlfriends and I ate dinner in the restaurant on a recent Saturday night. I have no complaints about the restaurant -- the food was fine and the service was good. After dinner, however, things went downhill. We were shepherded back outside to stand in line for the club, despite the fact that we had just spent $500 on dinner. Although we were placed in a shorter line by virtue of having eaten in the restaurant, we still had to wait over half an hour to get back inside. When we finally got into the club, it was so crowded that it was impossible to get a drink or dance. Not only that, but after all of the drama at the door, I would have at least expected a pretty crowd inside -- not the case! I was really surprised that Tao would hold itself out to be such a hot, exclusive place, and yet pack itself to overcapacity with an overwhelming unattractive, uncool crowd. Get over yourself, Tao!

3 Stars: Overrated (by cymbalaa)

We went there for dinner, but we didn't make it to the club. The decor was definitely cool, but that was the only part that impressed me. The food (including the sushi) was good, but nothing incredible considering the price. My cocktail was tasty, but my guest's beer was flat. And this may sound strange, but the service was almost too much. The plates were gone the second after the last bite of food was off the plate. In one instance, the sauce was gone before we had the chance to dip the appetizer. The restaurant wasn't that crowded, but the staff made us feel rushed. I regularly enjoy going to trendy, gourmet restaurants, but this isn't one that I would recommend.

5 Stars: Best Club in Vegas! (by aagandhi)

TAO is definitely the place to be in Vegas. The decor definitely sets TAO apart from all other clubs. They also do a great job of keeping an even ratio of women to men. This is first club that seemed to have more women than men. I would definitely suggest going through a VIP service to get in unless you want to wait for hours to get in.

Tao is such an amazing sushi restaurant! I love the decor and the enviornment! Sushi is my favorite food and it's hard to find a restaurant with good food and a good enviornment. Vegas restaurants can sometimes be too cheesy, but Tao is sleek and modern. The deserts are to die for and I always have a good time here. I recommended going to Tao if you are ever in Vegas.

5 Stars: WONDERFUL dinner, great ambience! (by baychick)

My friends and I had a leisurely dinner at Tao and it was fabulous. The atmosphere is gorgeous and exotic, with lots of red, candles, dark wood, and that giant Buddha - the decor alone is worth going for. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious: my favorites were the sweet potato tempura, spicy salmon roll, and King Crab roll. We also had sweet cocktails with a great mix of fresh juices and fruit alcohol, and for dessert I had a cup of Chai Tea, which was actually a bowl of frothy cinnamony-sweet milk. Dinner was expensive, but totally worth it. I would definitely recommend Tao, and I can't wait to go back to check out its nightclub!

3 Stars: Good place for dinner...and dancing (by margie2265)

We had dinner here a couple of weeks back with a party of about 10 people. The restaurant is really beautifully done: large buddha statue, plenty of comfortable couches spread out, nice ambience lighting..
We ate here partially because we wanted to go to the club afterwards, and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful, showing us all how to wrap our duck moo-shoo (which was delicious, by the way). We ordered several other appetizers for the table, everything was delicious. I had the seabass, which was perfectly cooked. After dinner, we wanted to go dancing. There was no wait for us, but we decided to stay in the lounge area downstairs because the music playing was better than what they ahd upstairs. For the club, they decorated the stone bathtubs lining the entrance with flowers and girls (sitting inside of them) wearing pasties. The lounge got pretty packed with people, but since we'd sat down at a booth, we had no problems finding seats. In all, the night was really fun for everyone; good food, good service and good music to dance to. We'll definitely be back.

3 Stars: Go if you want to be cool! (by shakedown)

I went to Tao on Dec 30th, the day before new year's eve. I got there around 10:30 without reservation. So I waited in the "general admissions" line. If you want to get in without waiting, either get on the guest list, or book a table inside. I waited 30 minutes to get in with a 40 dollar cover charge for women and men. Once inside, the club atomsphere is definitely great. A lot of beautiful men and women. However, unless you have a reserved table, no place to sit down. Extremely crowded. The dancers were great around the club they touch each other. Getting a drink was pretty easy at the bar in the way back in the main room by the balcony window. The DJ was definitely the highlight, I really really really liked the music. Great Mix. I would only go there once, unless I spend a lot of money trying to get a table. But if you want to see what it is like to be hip and cool.. definitely a must SEE.

4 Stars: Go For The Club, Not The Food (by b00pi3flak3s)

The Bigger and Badder sister of the famous NY restaurant, Tao has become one of the hottest places to spend weekend nights to indulge in some of the city's finest nightlife. With that said, be weary of the overly expensive food and bottle service. While the club and the restaurant are separated from each other, there is clearly a lesser of two evils in that the club is far more appealing. The food at the restaurant is gorgeous and well presented but lacks a lot of flavor while charging an arm and a leg. Whoever designed the place deserves an A for its outstanding decor, capitalizing on the Asian theme throughout the entire place. Beware of the immense lines that pile up for the club any night of the week (esp. Thursday - Sunday), but make sure that you are associated with a list of some sort or it could be hours before you see the dance floor. Inside the club has beautiful women who are in their birthday suit covered by rose petals to invigorate the crowd while tastefully flirting in the artsiest way possible. The music is good and the dance floor is well done however, its insanely crowded. Often times one has to wonder if the limit of people have been exceeded to make this place a hazard should anything happen.

3 Stars: Easy to get in the club (by fosterblue)

A group of 15 us had dinner at Valetino that evening and we walked over to Tao nightclub around 11:00pm. On a Saturday night the line was around the corner and out the door. Having no desire to stand in line nor did we have those silly "VIP" passes, we split up and the first half went to the most authoritive looking doorman wearing a suit and told him that one of the girls in the group was Robert Dinero's niece and who can we talk to get in...$100 and 5 minutes later, in they go. The second group of us, all guys, wait for about 10 minutes, then we walk up to the same doorman and I told him that one of the guys in our group was Kevin Smith and who can I talk to to get us right in. $100 and 3 minutes later in we go. So I guess although the bouncers and doormen are/look mean, they're not the sharpest tools in the shed. Once inside, the place was already busy and loud. The decor was nice and the bartenders were pretty fast in getting our drinks. Walking around there were a few "girl dancing" stations that was interesting to watch but the bouncers kept the flow of traffic moving so there wasn't alot of static standing. We left around 2:00am which took about 30 minutes to "walk/push" from upstairs to the door. The bottom floor was so packed I kept thinking where was the fire marshall? Could be a very dangerous situation if there was a need to get everyone out immediately. Overall Tao is an ok place, its one of those places to try once and say you did it. I think Studio 54 is still the best place on the strip to get your groove on and still have elbow room. If you go to Tao, let them know that Bobby's niece and Kevin said hi.

5 Stars: Trendiest sushi in Vegas! (by lvp)

I've been to a lot of sushi places in Vegas that tries to be trendy and inventive but Tao is still the best.

I can't comment on the nightclub but the restaurant was on its game this past weekend. I tend to grade restaurants based on the knowledge of the waitstaff, quality of the food & service and overall ambiance. Our waiter knew the menu well and could not only describe the options but the subtle nueances of each dish. His recommendations for options were based on our tastes and not price which can be the case in many situations. The sushi was very fresh and an acceptable grade with good coloring. The lobster dumplings were perfect and set the tone for the meal. As for overall ambiance, while there were a number of large parties in the restaurant, it remained an environment where you could hold a conversation without screaming at one another. And finally, we arrived ten minutes early for our reservations and we were promptly seated. They did not overbook and hope the tables would clear in time for us. Nothing irritates me more than to have a reservation and then have to wait for my table because the restaurant can't figure out its table turns.

4 Stars: Good food, great restarant design, nightclub is okay (by carlson_b)

I have been to both the restaurant and nightclub at Tao and I know more about food than nightclubs so I'll focus there. The space and decor is great, it's a nice place for groups with enough background noise that you don't feel self-conscious but can still hear each other. The food was generally good - small plates were great and main dishes very good but I would suggest going elsewhere for sushi. The wine list wasn't bad and they had a nice special on 2002 Silver Oak for $110 - the main drawback was that not much on their menu was complemented by a good cabernet.

All in all, dinner was a pleasant experience and wasn't as expensive as I would have expected. Would definitely go back for very good food and a great , fun atmosphere.

3 Stars: Crowded and Overpriced (by nicky7899)

This place was nice and looked very cool. The bad thing was that it was way overpriced and way too crowded. You can't even dance because there is no room. It took about 30 min to order a drink at the bar that was way too expensive anyway. If you want to dance and spend less money go to a less trendy spot and save your money. It was a good experience but not worth it.

4 Stars: Great DJ, fun people-watching and efficient bar staff (by ocforever422)

I went to Tao with a group of friends on the Friday night over Labor Day weekend. We got there around midnight and the line was INSANE. I guess no more insane than any other major nightclub on the last official weekend of summer but since I'm not the most patient gal, I was a little daunted. Thankfully some of the guys we were with knew a girl who was having dinner there that night and she charmed the bouncers into letting us into the club after having a few drinks in the downstairs lounge. We were a group of 4 guys and 2 girls. They made us all pay the cover but since I wasn't waiting in line I wasn't about to complain. The DJ was playing the best music, but the dance floor made dancing nearly impossible. It was just one large mass of people swaying and bumping hips, elbows. One thing I was totally impressed with was that no matter how packed the place got, the wait at nearly every bar (except for the one nearest the dance floor) was more than reasonable. Sometimes service was surprisingly quick. I would definitely check out this club if you're in town and have the time. Get there early and if you're a group of guys enlist a few females to join your group to help get you in quicker.

Drinks were great, service was great. Our food took awhile and was not so good. I had a fish entree and it seemed not fresh at all.
3 Stars: Decent food, eclectic fun unique atomosphere (by ljsrobb)

I made reservations, and was seated promptly. The decor was very nice, unique. The red back wall with the large Budha statue was enjoyable to look at. We tried the wonton crip appetizer, I had the Tao chicken. The food was good, however, a bit overpriced. The prices are more for the atmosphere. If you are looking for a trendy, fun place to go, that food quality isn't quite up to its prices, then Tao is your place.

The only reason we ate here was because we thought we would be able to get into the club afterwards, but the guys we went with still had to pay! The food was just okay for the price, and even though we had a reservation (at 11 pm!!!) we still had to wait like 30 minutes.
3 Stars: Too Crowded (by enajo)

It's easy for girls to get in. Also, the downstairs bar/lounge and restaurant areas are luxe and spacious. However, when you go upstairs to the dance floor, it's tiny and literally roped in. There's no room to move, let alone dance. The music is good, and this is supposedly one of the top clubs in Vegas, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than unique visuals in the club.

definitely go to Tao when you are in vegas. The decor is very cool. The DJ plays good music. Go on the early side if you are a guys. Girls will have no problem getting in. If you can't get in to the club, you can hang out in the restaurant part downstairs that get's crowded later in the night. Getting into vip here is tricky, but it really doesn't matter because the rest of the club is fun and has a good crowd. Check it out before it gets played out.

and you will get a good sense of the place. Just like so much of the upscale areas of Las Vegas, there is a lot of attention to over the top design and the minute you walk through the flower decked tunnel to the Giant Buddha surveying the room, you know you are in an unusal place. It is one of the few place able to transform from dining to dancing really well and very worth the stop.

The music is way too loud @ the dining area...you would have to literally scream to talk at the table. The staff is not friendly at all. They would not even come back to ask if we needed anything after bringing our food over.
2 Stars: Waste of Time for the Money (by dbravo77)

My group and I have never had a problem going to Tao until this past weekend. We always get a table, and reserved a table for 5 bottles this past labor day weekend. Everyone has always been nice and good to us. I will admit, I haven't been to Tao for 4 months. We had nice mix of girls and boys. The door guys made us wait 45 minutes for no reason. We finally got the table, and told we needed to buy a 6th bottle even though they had promised 5 bottles. After relenting, we finally said yes after they gave us a discount on the bottle. Music is alright, the crowd was alright too, and it's a sardine can in there. For a club that boasts to be a large club, they fill the place way too much where it becomes borderline uncomfortable and the club doesn't manage space very well. Security guards don't know what they are doing. The waitress couldn't get out drinks straight and would disappear for 30 minutes. We finished the 6 bottles, but only to have people bump into us all evening. I'd recommend this place before this club got attitude and started charging 6 bottles for a party of 15 people on a long weekend. Yes, I know we might have gotten on of the best tables in the house, but 6 bottles for 15 people is rather crazy. But, if people pay, i guess you can expect the club to charge it and still have attitude about it. It's a rip off, but then again most all clubs are like this on a long weekend. I don't see this club lasting long in terms of quality places to go in Vegas. I think management hasn't gotten worse. If I am going to spend $3K for a night out, I would expect to get better service.

Tao is a very nice club. It is gigantic! The only problem is they let way too many people in, so if you want some space, this probably is not the best place to go. There are a few different rooms, and an upstairs and downstairs. If you are going to go and don't like crowds, don't go on Friday night.

4 Stars: If you can deal with the usual b.s. you'll love this place. Otherwise don't bother. (by berhsu)

If you are interested in the club you will have to come to terms with the longest lines in Vegas (1-2 hrs). Your best bet is to get your hands on VIP passes and/or grease the bouncers. Upon entering in the club, you will find the place very crowded starting Thursdays. As such, you may have to squeeze through the crowd just to have the honor of ordering their overpriced drinks. If you can over look these inconveniences the dance music will not disappoint; neither will the shee-shee zen-like decor if that impresses you. Also, the place will be generally filled with good looking people with the girl/guy ratio close to 50/50.

Dinner reservations are a must on weekends. The bouncers should let you in to the hostess located at the front of the ultra-lounge. Expect a wait whether your table is ready or not as this is their opportunity to get you to spend money for a drink at the bar. But this is also your opportunity to scope out their ultra-lounge which I thought was very hip. In fact, if you are not the clubbing type, the ultra-lounge is worthy of an entire evening in itself.

The dining area is expansive with tables on 3 levels so depending on your luck you may get a table at a great location or a not so great location (or unless you tip the hostess of course). Overall we found our wait staff to be courtesy and prompt. But expect the staff to up-sell you. That is their job if they have outrageously priced items on the menu which they have plenty of. To conclude our meal we were given a stamp that allowed us to skip the line to the club. Mind you we still have to pay cover. Although we were disappointed I figured there is no reason why a business would leave money on the table if they didnt have to. We decided to call it a night at Tao and stop bleeding money.

So if you can deal with the usual B.S. and attitude will you probably have your best night in Vegas at Tao. But if what I described not your cup of tea I recommend you avoid this place.

1 Stars: Nightmare Experience (by traveler556)

(continued from previous- sorry, I ran out of space). When my friend politely asked the security guard (tall, bald guy) if it would be okay for the girls to sit there until the next party arrived the security guard grabbed him by the collar and told him "this isn't your business.....if you want it to be I'd be happy to break your face". I kid you not! Everyone was appalled. The girls crammed in with the rest of us, as did my friend. I went to the manager to complain and for my efforts was assured that we must have been out of line and not to bother him again unless we had a "real" problem. Again, I kid you not! I've been to some of the most pretentious clubs in the country and I've never seen anything even remotely like what I experienced at this joke of a club.

At this point, I just wanted to leave, but we were waiting for a few more people to join us, so we stuck it out. Unfortunately, things got even worse. About two hours after we'd first arrived at the club another party finally occupied the table next to us. I should say tables, plural. 6 people, roughly half our number, were given twice the table space we were. Do you want to guess what they were drinking? Absolut (the very drink we'd been told was out of stock and which, at 3 bottles ordred by this time, we'd overpaid $150 on another brand for). When I saw our waitress and asked her about this she insisted that I must have misunderstood her. That would have made FOUR people who misunderstood, as there were four of us making the drink decisions. I asked her to send the manager over again, which took about an hour. When I told him about our complaint he told me that if we didn't like our service we were welcome to leave and promptly sent two security guards over to glower at me for 10-15 minutes. After that we called it quits and waited for our friends in front of the club. We were overcharged, threatened, and otherwise treated like garbage. Steer clear of this place!

1 Stars: What a JOKE! (by traveler555)

I don't even know where to begin. I went with friends for what I was sure would be one of the highlights of this trip to Vegas. I've been many times but never to Tao. What a disappointment. The food, while decent, wasn't nearly as good as it should have been for the price, and the service was atrocious. It took over an hour and a half just to get the appetizers right (had to send back two times). Upon receiving the dinner bill, we found we'd been charged for three bottles of wine we'd never ordered and 3 appetizers also never ordered, coming to an additional, roughly $225. We were a large party of 8, maybe Tao thought they could get away with adding a couple of extra bottles to the bill. Instead of apologizing, the waitress got snippy with us and didn't return with our bill for nearly half an hour.

Half of us were ready to leave at this point, but we'd requested a table upstairs at the supposedly great night club above the restaurant. My advice to you.... run far, far away from this place. First of all, by the time we were ready to go to the club, a couple of friends had joined us so that there were now 10 in our party. We needed a table. In order to get a table you've got to commit to ordering some bottles from the menu, not unusual for such a club. We were given a table that would accomodate no more than 4 people even though there were several larger tables available. We were told that we could not use these as they were reserved for special guests. I'lll tell you right now that nobody used those tables all night and the 10 of us huddled around one small table was amateur-hour treatment from the people at Tao nightclub. The manager would do nothing to accomodate us and sent SECURITY guards over to push us around when they thought we were moving outside of our allotted space. We actually had one of these jerks threaten 2 of the girls in our party with ejection, simply because they were sitting adjacent to our table on an empty couch. (continued)

1 Stars: Not hitting on all cylindars... (by sophie411)

We made a reservation and arrived early to check in ahead of time. They were warm and said that we'd be seated shorty - that they would set up our table - and gave us a pager - like I was at a large chain restaurant in a mall. A good piece of time passed and no page or word that we would be seated. I checked back and was told the same thing in a nice pleasant way - like a programmed computer... This went on for 45 minutes. We were finally seated - 2 tables away form the restrooms. The server was good and bad - when she was there she was good - except when asked what she recommended, she rattled off the most expensive items in each category which leads me to believe she was only trying to upsell me. After she took our order - she was a ghost The restroom attendants welcome you to the restroom which is nice but then they continue to talk to you while you take care of business - strange and tacky. The food is average at best and the prices are very Vegas - expensive. The club upstairs is a whole new experience. With their HUGE square footage, they let in anyone with a pulse and a pocket full of cash. You need to tip everyone and then some to get a spot away from the masses that they need to put in the massive room. They have good looking dancers and entertainment around the club which is a nice touch - which they must spend good money on. It was VERY hot... a little more money spent on air conditioning would be good. The security guards are a joke. They are looking to secure the money in your pocket - not secure the room. The private boxes are cool - if you have enough money to tip and pay for. Overall, I was expecting much more. It's very New York rude.

4 Stars: Not bad, but overhyped and overpriced (by viscabarca)

I ate dinner at TAO a few weeks ago and left underwhelmed given the price point. I will say this, the Chilean Sea Bass Satay is insanely good. We had to reorder it even though we were stuffed.

On the other hand the Kobe Shabu Shabu was not as good as I had hoped; perhaps my expectations were overwhelmingly high, but the flavor of the beef did not justify its $15/oz price. The sushi sucked, although that is my fault for even ordering it. I should have gone to Shibuya at the MGM if I wanted sushi, but it sounded too good to pass up. My bad.

On the hipness scale, the decor and ambiance is impressive. Just don't go expecting to love the food.

I was luck enough to hang out with someone the club reffered to as the "mood director". I was surrounded by hot girls and patron all night. This is the best club I've ever seen!

5 Stars: I Could Eat Here Every Day (by mynameismita)

My boyfriend and I decided to visit this place on a whim when we were spending time in the Venetian's mall. We went in for an early dinner and they sat us at a booth right behind the DJ who played a nice mix of deep house and ambient music. The place is absolutely cavernous and has a HUGE buddah statue.

The waiter was nice and informative about the things on the menu, offering his suggestions which turned out to be great. We got about 6 appetizers and my boyfriend got the Shabu Shabu with kobe beef ($15 per ounce) and I got the wasabi crusted filet mignon. Everything was near perfection.

The damage came to around $350 including drinks (they have great cocktails) and we left stuffed.

Tao is sooo dope. This club is beautiful. I love thursdays because Dj Five is the best dj in las vegas. He spins all the hot music. The place is always packed but there is still room to dance. The bartendars are really fast and friendly, it doesnt take long to get a drink. Its dope because not only can you get drinks...downstairs in the lounge you can get sushi too! Theres just so much going on...youll definitly have to keep going back!!!

5 Stars: Amazing Food and Insane Nightclub (by sambuda)

You must get reservations in order to go to this restaurant between Thursday-Sun. Similiar to the NYC "Tao", but so much cheaper. This is not a restaurant to bring your CHILDREN! or to DRESS DOWN. It is a very romantic restaurant. If you eat dinner and sweet talk your server, the will get you a stamp to get V.I.P. You still have to pay thr $20 cover, but you just skipped the line that is usually an hour or more wait. The club is amazing, very large, dark, but enought light to see all the beautiful people. A major celebrity hang out, saw Denzyl Washington in the bathroom. All beer is $8, so dont get a coors light. You will thoroughly will enjoy yourself at this club.

5 Stars: Hot Spot to be. (by vince_52)

First time @ Tao, Highly recommeded. You want to see celebritys Tao's the spot to be. We where in the V.I.P line we where in front of Kanye West, Jay-Z was already inside and before leaving the club Lil JOhn was walking in to the dance floor we where at. The place is crowded, but was worth it. When you walk in Tao you'll walk to the first dance floor, GO UPSTAIRS! (by the restrooms and the bar) theres two more dance floors, right to the stairs and left. Be prepared to wait in line for about 45 minutes to 2 hours to get in the club, unless your in the v.i.p. you'll get in with in minutes. If you dont want to be waiting in line and want to be in the v.i.p. line be prepared to pay a very expensive covercharge.

1 Stars: Horrid Service, Mediocre Food (by lucyandnick)

The hostesses at the front desk were discourteous and rude. Although we had a reservation, they told us to wait. When we were finally taken to our table, no one came to say hello or take drink orders for 20 minutes. Finally, we flagged someone walking by. After part of our food was delivered, a second waiter came to ask us how our food was. We only received our last dish (tuna tartare) another 15 minutes later. A third waiter asked us if we would like anything else - we ordered another tempura. It never came! We told the second waiter as he walked by to cancel it. We enjoy eating at nice restaurants and the food at Tao was sub par, ordinary, and no different from the Chinese restaurant around the corner in any city. For the price of $87.25 -- it was a waste of money!

Tao's attractive staff provides an excellent level of service making it's reputation shine brighter than Vegas's Luxor light!
2 Stars: Good place if you can get past the door... (by jhlong)

First time dining there, had dinner reservations late on a Fri night. Reservations just mean you get passed the guys with the velvet ropes. You still have to wait 30+ min for your table. Food was good and atmosphere in the restaurant were nice, so went back for my bachelorette party. Again, reservations meant nothing and we had to wait forever for the table. The waiter gave us attitude and even though our bill was $800 (party of 10 girls), they didn't comp us into the club. Once you get into the club, you wonder what all the hype is about cause the clientele is nothing special. Too much door attitude for both the club and restaurant. Otherwise fun place. Love the mousse filled fortune cookie.

5 Stars: Impressive (by bobfie)

This was a most memorable, splendid experience. If you enjoy Asian tastes and high-class atmosphere, this is the place for you. Even the wine list is great, especially for an Asian restaurant. Even if you are not knowledgeable about Asian cuisine, as some of our party was not, the waiter was most helpful in determining taste preferences and only then offering advice as to what to order.

5 Stars: Very happening (by blondewonder)

My husband and I sidled up to the bar on a busy Friday evening and had fabulous (and large) martinis (the Blue Zen is delicious if you like coconut) and appetizers (veggie eggrolls are fried and split down the middle, veggie dumplings, and a la carte tempura that was better than Nobu's). We didn't even attempt to get into the club upstairs, mostly because it was fun (and free of cover) to watch everyone at the bar and in the lounge area. The bartender was fantastic and attentive, despite how crowded it was.
