I received a call from trugreen offering to provide treatments to my lawn for $39 per treatment. When I rec'd my first bill it showed $55 for the treatment. When I contacted them to find out why the increase they stated this is what was agreed to. I tried trugreen two years ago and had the same experience. Thinking after two years the service would be more "true" to it's quoted price, I'm sorry to say TruGreen (is still) not so true...

I used to work for the NH branch of this company. I had to leave their employ due to the just plain dishonesty and deceit on behalf of the branch management. A few examples are: charge a customer for a complete application of grub control at 1.5x the rate for fertilization, yet claim that IPM and NH state law required us to only apply in certain areas. Thus the company saves money on chemical cost while charging full application price to the customer. A technician will treat a lawn at the wrong address, afterwards the technician is instructed to collect at least half of the application cost from the family at the wrong address because they "received a benefit from our visit". Another example is of an incident that I experienced is when there was a dispute over an account between myself and a salesman. The branch manager stated that he will always side with the salesman because "we are only here to make money". The technicians are paid on a commission basis, meaning that the longer they take during an application the less money they will make. The commission is based upon a goal that is determined by the pricing of the route; nicer neighborhoods are charged more than less desirable areas. Anybody with a brain can see where this is going to lead you. There are many small, local companies that offer the same service, yet with these companies you get what you pay for. I highly recommend and encourage anybody looking for lawncare services to look at the small companies in your town vs. utilizing TGCL. As a former employee, this notation may sound bitter and that I have an ax to grind, and maybe I do. However, I can freely look my customers in the eye and at the end of the day my conscience is clear.
