I am very picky when it comes to my hair, but often would settle for convenience or cost and would justify a sub par haircut for one of the above mentioned reasons. Over the years, many of the barbers I went to were not able to cut my hair evenly and didn't seem to care (color is dark black and extremely straight; uneven fades are easily detectable to my highly sensitive eyes) I officially have found (thanks to this website) someone who knows how to cut hair at a super reasonable price. Gary did a great job of cutting my hair, but I was mostly impressed with the precision and detail that seems to be part of his daily routine. No frills, no rush and no way that I will go elsewhere at this point.

I found Gary on this website, and last week was my first visit.
I am not a difficult client. However, I know how my hair behaves, and what works or does not work when getting long hair layered. Gary was very attentive on listening, and on making sure that we both agree on how much he was going to cut, how he was going to layer it, etc. In addition, he gave me some advices on the extra care my hair needed for the ends to look healthier. His advices were very genuine. He did not push me into buying any products or anything like that.
As mentioned, it was the first time Gary cut my hair, and he did a very fine job. He took his time and gave it a very good form. His prices are very competitive as well. I will definitely go back to him, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new stylist.

I always put off getting my hair colored and cut because my hopes of how great it will look fall very short of my (I think) realistic expectations. And then you pay a small fortune for your disapointment.
My recent experience however was different. Gary actually did what I asked and that combined with his patience and skill left me very pleased with the results. I will be back and also highly recomend his services to anyone that would like to for once, leave the salon feeling thrilled instead of regretting that they spent too much.

Gary Knight is a responsive, caring, highly competent hair stylist which is why I have been going to him for so many years. He fulfills my wishes to a T, and when I am at a loss on what should be done with my hair he has always provided a happy solution. Recent renovations to the salon under its new ownership has added to the enjoyment of my visits. I hope an earlier reviewer who had high praise for Gary but not for the salon has been back to experience the brighter, far more tasteful ambiance of the shop.

Gary Knight is truly a very nice guy. He's very patient and takes the time to style your hair as you've requested. He is a bargain in Irvine. The salon, however, needs a lot of work. It's very dated and not the most pleasant place to be. It's a small shop in the older Woodbridge area. Not very OC, older clients.

Gary has that great quality of listening to what I want. I have the difficult curly/slash/ frizzy hair that I want to keep long but yet look smooth and polished. With Gary's skills of subtle layering and superior products he gives me the style I want. My color is also fabulous. He keeps me looking 10 years younger than my age.

Gary is a master with scizzors, clippers and comb. He has a sixth sense about what should be done with my hair (what's left of it). He has an amazing knack for making me look younger, which I appreciate beyond words. Sitting in his chair is an absolute delight, not only because of his skills as a hair cutter, but because he is an extraordinarily pleasant person.
