I moved to SF from Indiana thinking it would have been easy to find a good stylist, but was seriously mislead and was seemingly heading down all the darkest alleys in the city or something like that looking to cop a good haircut. It took me several salons, stylists and near death experiences ?til I stumbled across Shab on a whim while remembering a tip on a salon in the Castro from my roommate. The receptionist said Shab had an opening, so I rolled the dice and rolled 7, 11, and the rest is history. I went away with easily the best service and haircut I have had in the two years since I have been here?not to mention she is stunning and super personable, which is always a plus. I have since followed her to Willow and have every attention on following her all down the line when I need a fix. She always keeps me looking like rock n' roll royalty. She truly rocks and rolls and will help give your hair the swagger it needs. Aside from my top notch experience with Shab, the rest of the Willow staff also seemed exceptional. The salon was super rad, clean, had great products, and even gives you complimentary teas in enough variety to suite every need. So check out Shab and Willow for sure, just make sure to tip her well damn it because she will totally deserve it
I recently went in to willow salon for a manicure and pedicure..cuz yay they have a manicurist now!! I've been into many salons in the city to get my nails done, and am usually rushed through the whole thing. Fannie at willow was very sweet. she took her time and added little extras like rose petals and fragrant oils in the water and gave me a foot massage that melted my stress of the week! I'll definitely be back to visit.
the overall experience at willow was a great one. everyone there seems like they enjoy their job, from the front desk receptionist to the stylists to the clients that come in.
Pros: the cookies and the tea
Cons: metered parking, but they'll keep an eye on your car for you.
I live in L.A. and I went to San Fransico for my 40th birthday to see the Mathew Barney exibit at SFMOMA. On a whim, I decided to get a new look. I walked into the first salon I saw and asked for any available stylist. That was Gilbert. He listened to every word I said and took my curly, blonde hair to a rich, straight chocolate brown. Now, whenever I am on business trips in S.F. I always set a day aside for Gilbert to do my touch ups !!!
Eduardo is the person you must see at Willow. He actually listens to what you want and treats your hair with care. I have stubbornly wavy Asian hair but he manages to give me the best cut and shine in the neighborhood since my move from LA (and I've tried all the salons near Union Square). Eduardo you are the best!
Cons: lukewarm green tea
Seems like all stylists are consistent and on-time. Sarah is my stylist - friends and strangers always comment on my color. She's effective with her time when you're in the chair, and she is always on time- an important thing to most all of us! Most of my friends are going to Sarah now and are so happy with their hair as well!
I went to go get my nails done at this great salon because now they have a nail person, and she was great, I got a gel over lay on my nails and a spa pedicure. She took her time which was a nice relief, since my life is so busy. I went to Zaza nail spa and I really didn't like it so I tried Willow and it was the experience that I was looking for. I'am sooo happy they have a nail person, because now I can walk down the street.
love Willow Salon, Veronica colors my hair and when I want to do something that might not look good she will let me know. Sarah cuts my hair and I couldn't ask for someone better, she too will let me know what works and what doesn't work! Parking is easy, and they provide you with change. The other staff members are awesome and you can tell that they get along and like their job. With that setting its easy for me to relax and enjoy getting my hair done.
I have been going to Willow for 2 years and finally decided to give it a shout out!. I have tried almost everyone at the Salon and have never been disappointed. I color my hair and even though I changed stylists I have always had consistent results. The service is excellent and every one is super sweet. Love the calm atmosphere. Thanks Sarah and Veronica!!
Pros: easy parking, customer service
I have been going off and on for a couple years. Alain is fabulous highly recommend.
I followed Veronia from another salon in the City, and am very happy to find that the ambience at Willow is so cozy and warm--the salon I went to previously was fine, but was rather minimalist, black furniture, track lighting--not warm and cozy and comfy!
Veronia is the best hair stylist I've found in 10 years in SF, and because she is also very funny and down to earth, while also being hip and young and the possessor of Beautiful Eyes, it's always a good experience to have my hair cut by her.
Great atmosphere, people, products, and most importantly, my hair looked AMAZING!
I tried Alain and Christopher and always came out feeling like a rock star. And their artwork last for a long, long time... Highly recommended!
My hair found its home at Willow salon with Christopher and Connie. I was loyal to a wonderful talented stylist for over 10 years before I had to move away. I have been lost and wandering since, trying to find someone who compares. Since my cut from Christopher and color from Connie, I have people on the street constantly asking me where I get my hair done...yes they are that good at what they do. Connie is great at matching skin tones for color and bringing out the best in your hair, or better. Christopher is a perfectionist that takes his time and listens to your input as well as provides you some of his own as to what will work with your hair. They are the best hair team a girl could ask for. Looks like I've found my new stylists!
Pros: Creativity, Up on Styles, Friendly
Cons: Challlenging parking, outside bathroom
Christopher is great for men's hair cuts! While discussing the style I wanted, he offered suggestions on how to make the style work best with the shape of my face. Several times, I have told him to do what he thinks would look best and I have never been disappointed.
Pros: product knowledge, experienced staff
Cons: Uncomfortable chairs, Lighting is too hot.
My first haircut by stylist Christopher was great. He spent time with me discussing what I wanted to do and gave me a great cut that fits my lifestyle and the look I wanted.
My first color at the Salon included color and highlights. It was my first experience with getting highlights in my hair and Eduardo did a fantastic job. I have gotten nothing but great compliments on my new look! Thanks Eduardo!
Pros: Personalized, Friendly, Great stylists
this was my first visit to a salon in san francisco and i was very impressed. I was immediately greeted and given a beverage and made very comfortable. christopher, one of the stylist was very knowledgable and took the time to answer my questions, never rushed through the appointment and was SOOO sweet. My boyfriend got his hair cut there and so did my best-girlfriend. My boyfriend looks hot and so does my girl! THANKS CHRISTOPHER!!!
Pros: knowledgable staff, attractive setting
I have been in search of an amazing hair stylist my entire life and finally found her at Willow Salon!!! Connie, the artistic director of Willow is truly gifted. She has loads of experience and still keeps up with all the latest cuts, technology and product. I continue to refer everyone I know to her including my boyfriend and she hasn't let me down. When I want something specific, she listens and executes precisely and when I tell her to be creative, she always comes up with a great look. Not to mention she knows her color and products, and can really help you find what will work for your hair. I've never felt so good about getting my hair done!
Pros: never loud, serve beverages, friendly
Cons: metered parking
Staff was amazingly friendly and personable. Christopher took great care of me and my hair's "personality." He suggested a routine for my hair without pressuring me to buy any products. My haircut was personalized to the shape of my face and neck. Definitely recommended.
Pros: friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, knowledgeable stylist
Connie is fantastic. She is always ahead of the trends, she knows your personality and needs, and I always leave feeling beautiful. Her cuts grow out great and I only need come back every 4 mos, so its a great value. She advises you on styling and products and is tons of fun on top of everything. The staff is great and there's never a wait. People stop me on the street to ask me where I get my hair done. She's that good.
Willow Salon provides personal and warm service from the moment you walk in. Greeted with tea biscuits and a selection of tea, coffee, and sparkling water, it is easy to lose the nerves usually associated with getting your hair cut. Christopher provided me with an excellent hair cut and sincere advice on how to care for my hair. Not only did I walk out with a spectacular cut, but the best part of it is that my hair *grows* out well - with the style keeping shape for over 2 months. Thanks Christopher!
Pros: Great service, Comfortable ambience
Cons: Need time
I travel all the way from New Mexico to get my hair cut and colored! I was visiting a friend in SF that recommended Christopher at Willow to me, and I have been traveling many miles to get my hair cut ever since. Christopher's attention to detail when cutting my hair is beyond any haircut that I have ever had--he looks at every strand of hair and makes sure that it is cut around my face in the most perfect and flattering way. I have also had my hair colored by Connie who did a fabulous job as well. They are professional and fun to be around which makes the whole pampering experience feel like the greatest luxury. The products that they have both recommended for my hair have made my dry hair healthy again.
I was a first-time walk-in, and Christopher treated me as if i were his favorite customer. He evaluated my (color-wrecked!) hair damage, recommended treatment, and gave me a great short cut. It was much more creative than the one I usually get, and it was very flattering. Highly recommend him - and now I WILL be a regular customer!
I came in a head of hair that I had no idea what to do with. I sat down in Christopher's chair, and he immediately started telling me the right way to take care of my hair. I was very impressed, and became very informed as well! Christopher gave me a wonderful treatment, and was very careful and precise with how he cut my hair. He was also friendly, a very important attribute! I look forward to the next time I go to the Willow Salon and have another hair cut with Christopher.
Willow is a really great place to get your hair done. I have been going to Willow for several years, and there isnt a stylist there I wouldnt trust. Connie and Sarah both do awesome creative color and cuts, Christopher is great at precision cuts, and Alain and Eduardo are both amazing if you can get an appointment. Plus they have tea and cookies, new interesting products all the time, everyone is laid back and helpful, and they have shows from local artists. The best part is it isnt crazy expensive.
Pros: Really nice people, Upscale ambiance, Tunes and Tea!!
Cons: Bring Quarters!, Bathroom 2 doors down
There is a reason this guy can make a living specializing hair cutting and styling -- he does amazing work!! He's so enjoyable to work with, and he takes into consideration all of the factors that go into a successful cut and style. He considers your hair type, face shape, lifestyle (i.e. amount of time you want to spend on your hair), etc. I'm eagerly awaiting my color appointment with Connie; if she's anything like Christopher I'm sure I'll love her work!!
The Willow Salon has been great for me, being a man who had only been to corner barber shops. Christopher has been great informing me on haircare among other things and I've loved each cut. Service is great and the tea and cookies are a definite bonus!
I followed a stylist for more 10 years through some of the city's top salons. When she left SF -- and after several bad "interim" experiences and having my fill of pretentious, attitudinal salon environments -- I was thankful to find my way to Willow Salon. It's a lovely environment, low key, and has a nice selection of retail products. Christopher is a nice guy *and* a skillful professional. One actually feels that customers are appreciated at Willow, which is the opposite of my experience at the other high quality salons I've visited. Highly recommended.
Pros: Nice ambiance, Good products, Nice, skillful staff
Willow Salon offers the best experience mixed with a professional and friendly staff. I have gotten my hair cut and colored at Willow for more than 2 years and I every time I go in I am surprised by how great my hair looks every time.
I would recommend Willow for anyone who wants to look great!
Excellent service. I have been going to Christopher for years and he always takes the time to ensure I receive the best care possible. Always courteous and professional. A little pricey, but well worth it. Thank you.
I have enjoyed all the haircuts I've received from Christopher. His attention to detail is impeccable. I feel very comfortable having him cut my hair- and have always enjoyed all the comments I get on my haircuts.
He has helped me to become more conscious of my hair- in a good way! I am glad I found him!
Pros: Attention to Detail, Extreme Knowledge, Friendly Atomosphere
Cons: Chairs are uncomfy
I stopped in just because it is so close to where i live and who knew it would turn out to be the best haircut ever! Chistopher is the BEST!! I can't wait to go back.
Pros: Friendly Staff
Thanks to Christopher I now have THE BEST person to ever style my hair. Not only is he the greatest at his profession but the salon is super. I love the location, the music, the friendly staff and the best products for any hair type.
Pros: Great Cut, Great Goods, Great People
Feeling weighed down and dirty just before my morning run. My interest piqued as the salon opened and I inquired if there were any openings. Yes! Cut and color back at twelve. Color Fabulous! Cut outstanding! Christopher's vision and precision cutting abilities superceeded anything I have ever expereinced before. He is an artist is in own right! I have been to some of the salons listed on the "best" list and none have ever been so accommodating, service friendly, and packed with a line of excellent hair products. I am recommending Christopher and the salon to my best friend. My look has been completely transformed. Thanks, Laura
Pros: Friendly/Nice, Good Products, Excellent Stylist
Cons: 1 color-fee too high
I am so happy to have found Willow Salon! My stylist not only gave me a haircut I was really happy with, but also shared a wealth of knowledge about how to improve the quality of my hair. This was the best hair salon experience I have ever had.
Christopher is an artist. I always get compliments after he cuts my hair, and my hair looks great for weeks! The Willow Salon has a cool ambiance, and they are always playing great music. I am also looking forward to having Connie do my hair for my wedding. Compared to other options I have looked at for wedding day styling, the pricing at Willow is very reasonable. I love this place!
Pros: Talented staff, Excellent service, Tea!
Cons: expensive products
Connie is rad. I've been stopped many a time with the question 'who cuts your hair?'. It's Connie! And her creativity with color is always tops. Willow Salon has no pretention or attitude. Just good people and great ginger tea.
The service and expertise of the Willow Salon team is well worth the trip and great value. I enjoyed every moment, from the reception to the finished cut by Chris. I look forward to many more visits.
Pros: expertise, service
Cons: no man/ped station
After years of searching and sampling hair salons around the country, Connie at Willow is the best stylist I have experienced anywhere. Connie is an expert at knowing what will work best for you. She listens to what you want, shares her opinion and delivers an incredible result. HIGHLY TALENTED and creative (yet trustworthy!), with Connie feel free to try new styles, new color, new cuts - I have never been disappointed. An ultra-hip friend from LA even makes special trips to SF to visit Connie for new hair-styles! P.S. Connie is also fun to chat with in the chair!
Pros: near Crossroads Cafe, decent parking, N-Judah line
Christopher is the best - he does something different every time and I always walk out happy. Overall, I love the vibe of the salon, it's quiet, low-key, no pressure and no hype. Everyone is totally nice and down to earth.
Pros: quiet, friendly, low-key
Christopher is nothing short of amazing with a pair of scissors. I am one of the pickiest people I know when it comes to getting my hair cut but, Christophers perfectionist demeanor and extensive knowledge makes for an extraordinary cut and every time.
I just moved back to SF from Chicago. Christopher & Connie came highly recommended by my previous colorist & hair stylist--thank goodness I listened to them! Christopher does a wonderful job with my cut---I have been complemented by multiple strangers on the street asking who does my hair. Connie is a coloring genius! They both do a great job and you cannot beat the relaxing atmosphere of Willow Salon.
Pros: Easy Parking, Atmosphere, Talented
From the moment you walk in your welcomed with friendly faces. I have been going there for a year now and can't get enough,Connie is wonderful colorist and Christopher cuts my hair just how I want it. Thanks to these guys my worries are over in looking for a great Hair Salon!!!! Go check them out.
I am from Los Angeles and I simply cannot wait to get up to San Fran so I can visit Connie! I go forever without a haircut because I know I will be disappointed unless I go to Willow. The atmosphere is calming and the staff is amazing and talented. I look forward to trips to San Fran just so I can have Connie create an original masterpiece that always makes me look fabulous!
