Way too dark, not a great place for steak
by lkm3634
I thought my eyes would adjust but it was still too dark to see if my steak was cooked through. The only way I knew it was grossly undercooked is when I could not get the knife through the Filet Mignon.
Very disappointing for a place that calls itself Steak.
Also, the wine list was awful and limited.
On a positive note, the meatballs were amazing. The service was good.
Pros: Intimate, good service. Great Meatballs!
Cons: Too dark, terrible steak and limited wine selection.

great food and service
by mrgn
Absolutely no complaints about the food -- the steak and fish were excellent, as were the sides we ordered. Service was quick, courteous. Notably, the atmosphere was wonderful.
Pros: food,ambiance
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Wow- Amazing Food!
by ShelbyBrooke
Visiting New York on a rainy and cold night I decided to grab a quick bite of Itailian at the little spot across from my hotel. Walking in the place is smaller than what I am used to. Even after over looking the menu, nothing jumped out at me. So far I wasn't impressed.... Then came out the food and WOW! For an anti-pasta, we chose the mac and cheese which was topped with lobster. Unbelievable. For my meal, I ordered off the specials and chose a parmasean crusted steak with a side of asparagus and fries. Wow! This was by far the best steak I have EVER had. I have dined at many of the much pricier chains only now to be let down. With my first bite, I wanted to melt. Really fabulous. For desert, I shared a tiramisu and it was incredible as well. I am definitely remembering this quant, hidden place for my next visit to NYC and sharing with others. The service was also outstanding with our server, Bianca. She was extremely attentive and knowledgable with the menu items. Definitely 5 Stars on this place!
Pros: Outstanding Food!
Cons: A little noisy b/c of the small space.

Nice Spot
by Mydas
Decided to check out Tre Dici Steak on a Friday night. Hidden on the second floor, the resturant is dark and seductive. The food was rich and the decor is beautiful. Steak and pasta were cooked perfectly. If you want a nice change from the typical steakhouse try this out.
Pros: Great food and decor
Cons: A little hard to find

Steak-a-licious
by barese95
If I close my eyes and imagine what a perfect steak would be, I can tell you that Tre Dici steak would have nailed it on the head. To be able to enjoy steak cooked to perfection with sides that make your mouth water I never thought was possible, until I ate here. The ambience is something you have to experience. It is quite the romantic, yet playful naughty side that we all have in us. And dessert, well you need to try the crepe layer cake with the bananas, it is simply to die for.

Excelent Food
by ggunn
My whole experience here was perfect! Excellent food! The food is fresh and many of the ingredients come straight from Italy, I was told. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is fab as is every pasta dish I've tried.
There caprese ravioli is gorgeous as well. I find the decor to be a bit sparse and perhaps trying too hard. However, the food and service are spot on.
Pros: Food and Service
Cons: Decor

Go for the Kobe Beef Ravioli with Black Truffle and Caramelized Onions
by nysaint
Four relatively seasoned (ten years) New Yorkers enjoyed drinks at the almost empty bar. Decor is throwback to the 20-40s steakhouse special, opulent in a relatively tasteful way. Seated at leisure by the prompt polite and attentive staff, we order a good bottle of Barallo ($90) and enjoyed main courses and desserts each. By far the richest dish had to be the Kobe Beef Ravioli with Black Truffle and Caramelized Onions - probably better as an appetizer this was a real treat. My steak was a little on the rare than medium rare side and I probably should have sent it back, but all other dishes at the table were excellent. Price was reasonable for the experience $160 a person plus tip. A party of 10 were the only slightly loud group and they were separated by a divider - no problem. Three or four polo shirts otherwise all other patrons were dressed smart /casual. Recommended and I will be going back.
Pros: Kobe Beef Ravioli with Black Truffle and Caramelized Onions , friendly helpful staff, ambience
Cons: A few of the B&T crowd clearly read Citysearch ;)

Long awaited
by IHeartHenry
What can't I say about Tre Dici! The decor, specialty drinks and oh yea, the FOOD! I had the priviledge of enjoying Chef Guiseppe Fanelli's cuisine, amazing! I enjoy myself everytime I walk in and feel satisfied when I leave unlike most of the establishments in the area. I just hope I can influence others to take the walk or ride to Tre Dici and experience for yourself.
Pros: Bar
Cons: Parking

Great place to go!
by babyblue168
3 friends and I went there a week ago for a small birthday celebration. The food was much better than I expected. We ordered sirloin steak, NY strip, tuna steak, lamp chop and side dishes, everything was awesome. Passion fruit mojito from bar is great, too. I will definitely go back again. BTW, if you like desert, the 20 layer crepe cake is pretty unique.

Steak Speak-Easy = Awesome
by timbo77
Like some NY bars, getting here is part of the fun...Once in the restaurant, it's like being in a little oasis in Manhattan...one that looks like a 1920's brothel. That's being said in a positive way because it only adds to vibe of the place. The food was good (the filet was excellent) and make sure to get the ricotta creamed spinach. The wine selection is good and for dessert, the 20 layer crepe cake was OUTSTANDING (rare for a steak joint) Our server and bartender were very cool, conversational and efficient. Fun place to go if you're in the neighborhood

Best Steak in Town for UnBeatable $$
by bellababy25
I am a regular at TreDici, so once their steakhouse opened upstairs, there was no doubt this place was on my 'get to' list. Getting there is half the fun; up the old-school elevator, down the hall and through the unmarked door and into a sleak, dark lounge-like restaurant that gives off some secrecy.
Our shrimp cocktail was the absolute biggest i have ever seen! Juicey & fresh!
Our crab cake was a tough contender with it's lite batter, thick crabness and golden crust. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and paired nicely with my baked potato & friends. My guest had the NY strip w parmesan crust that was too of great quality, lean and her Italian version of creamed spinach was mouth watering and I'm not even a spinach lover.
That Chef Fanelli must have magical hands to handle both restaurants so eloquently with so much flavor, yet so simple. :)
