In Japan, an Izagaya is a bistro-type restaurant serving traditional food in a relaxed atmosphere. Oysy follows the Izagaya concept, allowing you to sample many dishes from the traditional to the exotic. It offers only the very best Japanese cuisine at an affordable price. Portions are just enough to share, and we encourage you to sample many different dishes at a reasonable price. Oysy also offers a complete selection of sushi, sashimi and maki from individual orders to chef-selected combinations.

good  4 Star Rating - Very good

I like this place and I don't even eat sushi! My friends who did get sushi seemed to really like it though. The beef teriyaki was good and the waiters were great so it's definitely a place I'd come to again.

Great food 5 Star Rating - World class

LOVE this place!! Great outdoor seating and great service. The servers are very nice. But the guys behind the sushi bar are the best!!! Very helpful and charismatic. The sushi is to die for. I work on Wacker dr. and my coworkers and I will catch a cab just to eat lunch at OYSY. Their lunch menue is amazing, but come hungry because the lunch specials include a lot!!! And for a great price too!! Amazing seaweed cucumber salad and miso soup too!!

Pros: ambience
Cons: Far from work

Not a good idea 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Oysy was recommended to me as a reasonably priced place with good sushi. This is far from the case, we went to the Grand location and I believe who ever wrote the reviews that this place is good works is hired by them. The prices are reasonable but the food is not good. We had several different options and I cant say I need to try any of them again in life. The fish did not seem fresh, we even tried cooked food in hope that would be better. The sesame scallops sounds good on the menu but were terrible in quality and taste. The firecracker roll is likely your best bet, even that is just OK. If you like and have had good sushi or just good fish for that matter you will not enjoy this place.

Pros: The service was OK
Cons: food

Oysy means delicious..........or disgusting? 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I was so excited to try Oysy after reading all of the great reviews. They really must hire people to write those good reviews. My boyfriend and I love sushi and were thrilled to be seated right away on a Sunday night. We were then completely ignored for the rest of the evening aside from once, when our waitress came over to bring me the wrong beer, and twice to bring our food. We waited 40 minutes before getting our first roll- (we ordered the summer) and we were saddened by the small size- a measly five pieces. Our drinks were never refilled and after waiting another 20 minutes for our second roll I asked to speak with a manager and was told that there was no one available. We ordered our check before we received our dynamite roll and though hungry, could barely gulp it down (the tempura tasted like deep fried play dough) before we took the fast plane out of there. All we could do was laugh at what a terrible experience it was.
If you enjoy wasting your money, eating tiny portions of mediocre and bland food, and feeling as if you do not exist- try Oysey- short for NOT delicious.

Pros: atmosphere is sparse chic
Cons: no managers available to take your complaints

... don't bypass the miso! 5 Star Rating - World class

Delicious is right... a-MAZ-ing is dead on... I was looking for an affordable wrap up to my one day in downtown Chicago that was within a reasonable distance from Navy Pier and the blue line... A quick cab ride got me there and the menu kept me there, until my short walk back to the train. Wide variety- many reasonably priced options, wide drink list, for you drinkers, although I went with the Pom. Spritzer. Yum!!!I also got the $32 chef's choice... 18 pcs of incredible sushi... But nothing touched he miso- Just incredible. The best I've had! And the service is the best (get a seat near the window- good people watching opportunities!)

Pros: service, location, food, value
Cons: parking? kinda far down michigan..

Good sushi is hard to find 5 Star Rating - World class

My husband and I are big sushi aficionados, and we've been looking for delicious sushi all over Chicago for 5 years now. We're really in it for the fresh sashimi, and only the freshest will satisfy us. We have tried most of the highly recommended sushi joints in Chicago, and had settled on Tsunami as the only place to get consistently fresh, high-quality sushi. That is, until we discovered OYSY. This place is nothing short of amazing: every piece of fish was extremely fresh, thick-cut, artfully prepared and presented, the presentation, atmosphere, and service were great-- all in all, a perfect evening. Best of all, it's relatively cheap, and we were free to order lots of sake, rolls, a-la-carte maki, and dessert without driving the price sky-high. This is *the* place to go in Chicago for fresh, delicious sushi.

Pros: Ultra-fresh sushi, reasonable price, excellent service.
Cons: Parking
