Gregg was superb in customer service. That's the really what this comes down to. Yes, Nick was nice up front (and great with communication). Yes, Gregg's brother made and maintains a great website. But, what made me enjoy my engagement ring search the most was having a jeweler that listened to me, created a beautiful ring, and followed up in all areas of the transaction. Gregg wanted to meet my fiance after she got the ring, ensure size, and clear up any loose ends, though there weren't any. I'd recommend Mr. Helfer to anyone, hands down the best decision I've made in a long time.

Gregg helped with the whole ?ring shopping? process. My wife said ?Yes? and LOVES the ring. She really does love it and has been receiving compliments ever since I proposed. I asked her in New Buffalo, MI and then came back to Chicago to celebrate with family and friends. Thanks again for your help with everything.

My husband bought both my engagement and wedding rings from Gregg. He had some delays when he ordered the engagement ring...much of it was due to his indecision though. Gregg had great suggestions. Things went great for the wedding band. I brought it in to be re-sized, and the service was awesome then too. I had the ring engraved, and I was worried that the inscription inside the ring would be damaged by the re-sizing, but it didn't change!! The ring looked brand new because they polished it before they sent it back!

I have been very satisfied with my rings from Gregg Helfer. I get compliments on them everyday..

The ring looked like an absolute sparkling comet!!
The ring was delivered on time as promised by Gregg and came out as expected..an absolutely first rate company to deal with. Gregg is so nice and is a pleasure compared to others that we saw on jewelers row. The princess cut diamond had lots of fire is for sure worth more than what I paid. Gregg Helfer Ltd. has outstanding customer service...period. I plan on purchasing again when I need more jewelry in the future.

To make a long story short, Gregg Helfer and GLEEM Diamonds and Jewelry provided an amazing customer service experience and a perfect ring and stone for my fiancee's engagement ring. She and I are both extremely happy with the end results. I was leaving the country for 2 weeks and ran into a road block when my then-girlfriend, now-finacee, changed the specs of her engagement ring. I contacted 4 different jewelers in the Indianapolis area where I live but each told me that the project would need 6-8 weeks to be completed. I received Gregg's name and number through a friend at work. I was on the road for work when I called Gregg and explained my unique situation. Approximately 3 weeks before leaving the country, Gregg and GLEEM pulled off a minor miracle through many phone calls, a few e-mails, etc. Gregg was exceptional detailed and accommodating. Thanks so much Gregg and GLEEM for all of your efforts and a wonderful customer service and final product experience. I would, and will, recommend Gregg to anyone.

My fiance, TP, came to you to create my engagement ring at the end of 2008/beginning of 2009. I've attached a picture of the ring that you created. I can't express in words how perfect this ring is and how much it fits with my personality. As you may have already concluded, I said yes!!!

Because of the quality and care you provided, I would like to consult with you in regards to creating T's wedding band. T picked out a band made by a designer by the name of Scott Kay. I recently ordered a 1 Carat diamond to go with a platinum engagement band. It is absolutely the best thing I have ever purchased. I was a little leary at first buying on jewelers row, but the customer service Gregg and the staff provided was good.,,and they answered all my questions. The customer service as amazing from the very beginning. The quality of the was awesome, and the pricing was more than fair in my opinion. My now fiance was totally overwhelmed when she received the ring. After having a problem with inaccurate sizing of my husband's wedding band at another store on jewelers row in chicago, I turned to Gregg Helfer Ltd. desperately for help. They offered great customer service... hard to come by these days. They created the perfect ring for me within one week and plenty of time to spare before the wedding. The white gold band is very nice and fits perfect. Comparing the quality and customer service with others I have experienced in this business, I will be sure go back to Gregg soon and recommend him to all of our friends. Great service.

Gregg Helfer is so good, I signed up for Citysearch just to write this review. We shopped at a number of jewelers, many on jewelers row . All the from other higher end boutiques to the expensive stand alone stores all the way to the diamond wholesalers. Gregg Helfer Ltd. was by far the most helpful and easygoing place we visited. Gregg answered our questions, and we never felt obligated to purchase anything. Gregg's diamonds seem high end, but I can tell you the quality and value can't be beat. If you are looking for a garbage diamond, forget it..Gregg won't sell you that. He would rather downgrade on the size a bit to get you the best quality diamond available...We had to do that a bit. I didn't see anyone out there with comparable diamonds priced any lower. He does custom engagement settings as well, and he was able to customize our ring for a nice personal touch. The whole staff was family friendly. I couldn't have been any happier with my experience.

Because of a friends suggestion, we came all the way from Milwaukee to buy an engagement ring from Gregg Helfer. He was kind enough to talk with us on the phone countless times to discuss designs, options. My fiancee bought the diamond first from Gregg, then we both went to visit Gregg Helfer Ltd. together to pick out the setting. Nicole was fantastic and helped us pick a beautiful platinum setting. She also offered great suggestions to help us customize the ring the way we wanted. Nikki was in touch with us every step of the way!! We will be back for our wedding bands soon. I wanted to take a minute to thank you for the wonderful diamond engagement ring. Gregg Helfer Ltd. is in the heart of Jewelers Row in Downtown Chicago. They have a great selection of diamond rings, necklaces, bracelets, and really...all jewelry. I was looking for a specific type of ring for my fiance and they were able to create the perfect match. I Called for the appt. with Gregg Helfer Ltd., The staff were professional and treated me with respect. I had a small budget, but they they took their time to show me and educate me about buying diamonds and jewelry etc...they treated me like I was spending a lot of money. I loved the service and ended up purchasing a diamond pendant from them. I compared the pendant with other places in area and you can just tell by putting it side by side. with the others..there is absolutely no comparison to other stores. Gregg is simply the best! To begin with the people are amazing. Gregg - is professionally educated about diamonds and that is only the beginning.. I never felt that Gregg was trying to sell me anything that I didn't want, like, or understand. It has been a month since I purchased and I know that I purchased the best diamond, designed the best setting, and purchased the best overall ring for my fiance. The ring gets noticed everyday by at least 1 person. If you compare our ring with the high-end/higher priced rings we were looking at, the quality doesn't even compare to what Gregg Helfer Ltd. has provided. I would also like to say that Nicole epitomizes customer service. Gregg Helfer understands exactly how to care for our ring. He offered to clean the ring regularly. Anytime we are in his showroom, he goes out of his way to do that for us without even asking!! What you may not know is that Gregg Helfer Ltd. can build the ring for you...from design to completed ring. Forget all the add-on charges that many of these companies charge. Customization is what Gregg does! They did a superb job working on this ring. From our suggestions and inspiration, we ended up designing the ring with Gregg from scratch. We showed him exactly what we wanted, how we needed the ring and wedding band to fit together. We even showed him how we wanted the diamonds placed. They began by creating a CAD computer design of the ring. This showed us what the ring would actually look like. We were able to make any suggestions and changes we needed to, without coming back in! They listened and then created a mold for both of the pieces. Sorry to ramble, but the entire experience is a must if you are buying an engagement ring. To be able to see and touch the product before actually getting it was amazing. Go there! You won't be sorry.

Gregg is the best. We went there as a referral. My cousin went there to have her ring designed that was a gift. Gregg Helfer Ltd. has plenty of diamond selection and many settings to choose from! The experience was different from anything on "jewelers row", and the pricing was better and everyone there was very attentive to our satisfaction...I couldn't believe the difference. I picked a design setting I liked, and the ring was custom made for the emerald cut diamond that I selected. Everyone says it is gorgeous and people ask me all the time where we got it. You can be sure that I will tell them that Gregg Helfer is the best.

I have been looking for and engagement ring for about a month. I researched GIA diamonds extensively and looked on the web. Wow...it can be very tricky if you don't know what you are doing. Confusion ensued when I tried to learn VS1 to VS2 to E to H etc.... I called about 8 stores in the Mallers building on Jewelers Row and got a lot of the same answer..."you have to come into the store to get pricing". This was asking for a quote for an exact diamond that I saw on the interenet! Finally, I found Gregg Helfer Ltd. Michael was honest, straight forward, empathetic, with a great sense of humor. Check him out if you still want to save some brain cells! The price was very fair also. Matter of fact, this is my first time buying jewelry, I but will definitely return to him as I go through the path of life as I am sure I will need diamond jewelry for many life ocassions. My fiance and I just picked up our engagement rings and we are very satisfied with Gregg Helfer. Gregg helped us design the rings and they turned out better than we could have ever imagined. His attention to detail is second to none...perfect !!! Gregg did way than we'd expected from a jeweler...so much so that we decided to get our wedding bands there also. If you want to create your own jewelry or customize anything, Gregg will make it happen. 3rd generation family brothers run the business and the staff is great. They take pride in their work and it really shows. If you want beautiful jewelry from great people...then buy from Gregg Helfer Ltd.

When my fiance and I were looking for an engagement ring, one of our first stops was Gregg Helfer Ltd., mostly because I saw alot of nice reviews on Citysearch. I was not sold at first... the showroom was fairly small and I though that we would have trouble finding anything that we liked. We had been visiting larger stores and had no success. After talking with Gregg for a short time though, I felt good and lucky that I found this place. We felt comfortable and relaxed as we talked diamonds and rings. Gregg had great questions and recommendations which helped us focus...and save money. Our Design ideas for the ring were important. We knew that our ideas for our ring were not very traditional. Gregg was quickly able to grasp our design concept though. He translated all of our ideas into every aspect of the design, from the overall design down to the smallest details. We were even shown a wax model of the ring to approve before final production. Gregg and his staff were very knowledgeable about engagement rings, helpful, friendly, and understanding. It can be difficult for a guy to walk into a jewelry store with his girlfriend to talk about diamonds and engagement rings before actually being engaged. Gregg and his staff seemed to understand this, unlike many other places we visited that just tried to sell us at any cost. Gregg was patient enough to explain all of the diamond details....color, cut, clarity, carat weight etc.. Most importantly, the ring is spectacular. It doesn't have the biggest diamonds, but it is very unique and stunning! It took a few weeks for the whole ring to come together, as it was 3 distinct rings. When I went to pick it up, Gregg and the staff was as excited as I was...They wanted to see my reaction! The best part was that we were very involved in the design process, so we feel a connection to the ring itself. I can't recommend this place enough! There custom work is not to be beat anywhere.

I had an independant jeweler/appraiser look at the ring after I walked out of the showroom(just my nature). All that I can say about Michael is that he is super and the the service was very friendly and informative. He was extremely helpful in getting the engagement ring shipment arranged for a vacation destination where I was going to propose, all in time!! I compared the quality and price to a similar ring that my fiance's best friend received last year, and I can only tell you that they should've seen Michael at Gregg Helfer Ltd. first before they purchased their engagement ring. After visiting a local jewelry store and being disappointed in the value offered, I found Gregg Helfer Ltd. here on Citysearch. Although I was initially skeptical about purchasing in the jewelry district, I was very pleased with the price and service Gregg provided...along with the explanation of GIA diamond certificate.
