The atmosphere and staff are friendly and comfortable. The walls are hand-painted in one-of-a-kind murals and adorned with local artists' work sure to inspire you. All works are for sale, and 15% of art sales are donated to Free Arts NYC, an arts mentoring nonprofit organization for at-risk children and families. Good food, great music

by Victoria F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 962

If you like to hear music while you eat then this nice quaint place is the place for you. I like hanging out at the bar when I go here because the crowd is so lively.

Perfect Spot for Future Gay Hangout, just no Skyline Sunset...

by KarleyBarley1010

OK, so yea, went to Kitchen Bar for Brunch on Sunday. Excellent food, HORRIBLE service, and they overcharged us. Horrible service means: we had to ask if anyone would wait on us, and instead of sending over a server, the hostess just decided that she would take our order, which proved to be the wrong idea, because it meant we basically had no server. They were busy and had a packed house, and our bad experience could have had something to do with that... We asked to get the check, didn't get it, and I finally had to literally wave my credit card at the hostess (she was trying to seat people at our table, while we were still there...which was strange...), so I never got a receipt, and just gave her my card (since this process took so long that my friend had already left!), and realized on my walk home that they totally overcharged us- nearly double, actually.
But again, my omelet was delicious, and my mimosa was big. The coffee definitely tasted like I was in a bar.... and the tables were horribly sticky. We did not enjoy anything but the food. AND they DO NOT HAVE SUNSET views! Don't expect one, because it says on their menu that they have skyline sunset views.... HARDLY! It's actually just buildings... Again good food, just horrible service. And they charged us nearly double, I'm still so mad about this, AHHHHH!

Pros: Breezy (windows were open), nice artsy decor

Cons: Sticky tables (it is a bar after all...)

Great, Casual but Cozy Environment & Delicious, Inexpensive Food!

by sweetmelissa64

I have been to the Kitchen Bar several times, and have never had a bad experience there. Their food is great (they have seasonal menus with really inventive, but not pretentious, meals), they have pretty good drinks (I had a "hot and dirty martini," which I essentially got for the name, but actually really liked it), and the service is great. The waitresses are very low-key, personable women, and always chat and joke with my husband and I whenever we eat there. We ate brunch there this Saturday, and I had an amazing salad and a fantastic breakfast burrito (the bloody mary wasn't stellar, but it was forgivable!). This place is great, I can't wait to try the barbecue place next door.

Great Value, Child Friendly, Friendly Service Staff - A Great Neighborhood Restaurant

by junsan12

With improvements in food quality and taste, this small but friendly food joint has a great future in the south part of the Park Slope area. Friendly service and children friendly makes this restaurant a great place to grab a bite for busy Park Slope parents. Highly recommended. Try their mixed drinks. They are awesome!

Pros: Great Value, Friendly Service

Cons: Dark Ambience During the Day

a neighborhood place

by karenroggi

What a jewel this place is. This area has been waiting a long time for something like KitchenBar. I highly recommend their food - i am one of those who always gets food envy and must taste everyone else's! The staff are helpful and friendly and their wine selections are perfect for such an eclectic establishment. A really wonderful neighborhood eatery that does not want to overcharge.
