Churrascos is a great place to eat with top notch service. The cuisine is excellent and drinks are typically very good here. I have been going to all of the Cordua establishments for many years. This place is pricey, but you usually get your moneys' worth. Our last two visits were actually slightly less impressive than what we are used to. The drinks were not as good as usuall (3margaritas in a row were all watered down) and the $28 dollar snapper plate usually has the shrimp and crab meat as a topping, but was now offered as an add on for an upcharge. We go often enough that staff recognises our faces and greet us warmly every time. Bottom line, we will keep going and hope the last 2 visits were just flukes and not the norm. We enjoy every Cordua restaurant but this location was our favorite, hopefully that will stand true in the near future.

This Brazilian steakhouse is a pricey endeavor. It is a world class steakhouse nessled in between a sushi house and Montrose. The waiters are dressed in gaucho attire and hover around you bringing savory cuts of seasoned meats around to you. While you marvel at the cuts, they slice off pieces of heaven on to your plate. The meat might be the focus of the restaurant, but the vegetable and the salad bar are on par with it too. Grilled artichokes as well as various cheeses and other vegetables populate this often overlooked section. I would recommend ordering a bottle of wine with your meal and going all out, because this place is for celebrations. It might be expensive, but I say splurge.

I had been to the Amazon Grill several times and decided I wanted to try out another of the Cordua restaurants. Churrascos was certainly spectacular, but I think I had higher expectations because I loved the Amazon Grill so much. The decor was classy and beautiful, and the food was really very good, just not quite as good as I had anticipated. All this being said, I still highly recommend trying it out as one of my favorite restaurants I tried out in Houston.

I have always been a fan of this place, until 2 weeks ago when I went in for Sunday brunch and there was a rodent running around the indirect lighting above. He was trying to jump on every platter of food that came by. It was not a small rodent. It was the size of a cat.

My husband an I went to Churassco's for our first and probably last time tonight. We were just getting off work and we had heard good things about this place so we were hoping to have a good and quick dinner. Instead we were there for two hours waiting over half an hour between each course even though I only ordered a salad with no meat as I am vegetarian. Our waiter hardly checked on us at all and the place was extremely loud.

Not only did the dining take forever, we weren't cared for at all. My husband ordered crab and they forgot it with his meal. Then after we paid for our bill I realized that no only did they charge me for meat on my salad they charged me for the more expensive option of beef instead of chicken. Even with no appetizers and drinking water the meal costed $50 and it wasn't even that impressive.

Skip this one. It isn't worth the price by far that you will pay, it is invconveniant and noisy and there are not even many options to choose from on the menu.

Pros: The menu has plantains and there is a little bit of a different swing to latin food.

Cons: Noisy, bad service, way over priced.

I was looking for a casual dinner so I sat in the bar area, not the main restaurant, which looked very nice. Service was good, a pretty good wine list (not that i'm an expert in wine!). There are 4 different ceviches, I tried the crabmeat which was really good. I went with the 6 oz Churrasco steak, which was very good. perfectly cooked and just the right size for me, they had 3 larger sizes. It was served with a platter of sauteed vegetables and rice. Great place, probably more for a formal dinner, but I wanted to try it out. Would like to go back with a group and try the dining room experience.

Plaintain chips and great steaks. This is a good place to enjoy an authentic South American meal. Service was exceptional and it was like they read our minds for what we wanted/needed.

It had been many years since I went to Churrascos. The food is as good as I remember it being, but the service was horrible. The host greeting (or lack of greeting) was lacking, we waited for someone at the host desk to get off the phone - they were helping someone that didn't appear to be a customer, but we stood there for about 5 minutes before they even acknowledge us. We sat at a table that was basically crowded up to the bar, which was fine but it was tight. Our waiter was aweful! He seemed offended that we didn't want to order an appitizer and really downplayed what came with our meal. Once he took our order he came back three times to verify how we wanted our meat cooked. Then after all that the order he brought out was wrong. Or mine was. He brought me salmon instead of steak. And then asked me again what I ordered and how I wanted my meat cooked. During dinner I was watching him wait on his other customers... he was acting the same towards all his other them. He dropped a plate of food that came about 1 inch away from falling on top of a baby that was in a car seat next our table. That would have been terrible had it landed on that baby! The table that had the plate that got dropped ended up having to get up and give the check to the bartender to close out because he took so long to take it away. The lady refilling water stood behind me, leaned over me to refill my date's water... all the while it was spilling all over the place and didn't apologize or anything. Later, our waiter took our coffee and desert order. He brought us coffee mugs and put the coffee carafs on the bar next to us but never poured the coffee. Finally after taking a table of 8's order he realized what he did and served us our coffee. Later he came back fto refill but poured hot water in my mug. I don't know where find their staff but it's bad! Luckily like I said the food was good. Otherwise I would have been really upset because it is not a cheap restaurant!

Pros: Good atmosphere and music in the background was also good.

Cons: Zero

For the supposedly upscale dining this restaurant provided a very loud din of people talking with no atmosphere or music.
The main course quality is very good, while the salads are just lacking. For caesar salad all you get is 3 pieces of romaine lettuce that the chef doesn't bother to chop for you, very original...
The service is a bit on the south american side. What I mean by that is that you can expect them to chisel you every step of the way, from the mineral water you didn't order to the $6 price increase on a bottle of wine that they've mistakenly just snuck on your tab.
I honestly long for the gone days when you could go back to the old Churrascos, sit in the smoking room and puff a good cigar while drinking cognac and enjoying soft jazz music, with some room around you. The current makeover has jammed as many tables as possible, resulting in a noise somewhat reminiscent of a henhouse. At the present point this place seems more like a food assembly line for yuppies.

I had my annual Christmas Dinner here for 2007, and I had a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed the food. The potion size are a bit small for the price but the food was delicious. But it was nothing compared to Fogo De Chao for our group dining. So, I wouldn't recommend it for groups but more towards couples. I voted average for this review for the overall experienced for a group. Maybe when I come back here with just my bf and I, I can improve the rating.

Not sure I'd go as far as my father but the Churrasco is consistently good and prepared to our liking. The service is always attentive and prompt and we have always had a booth seat when requested. Wine list is good (but not exceptional) and the waiters are knowledgable and courteous. We recently (Dec 2007) took a Spanish speaking guest who had some bad experiences in Houston during her visit here but the waiter jumped at the opporutnity to speak to her in her native tongue and, by the end of the night, our guest was extremely happy and chirpy. Food was cooked as requested and delivered promptly - great night.

My brother and I went to the wonderful Churrascos on Westheimer, this evening and we both agreed, it was the best meal we have enjoyed in years! The waiter was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and had great off the menu suggestions. The food was quick, but more than that, it was perfectly cooked. We ordered our meat medium and it was picture perfect. We split the empanadas for an appetizers and they were hot and golden friend delicious! We also split their delicious Tres Leches cake which is some of the best outside of home-made that we have ever had the pleasure to eat. Yes, the price is a little out of some people's range but it is well worth it for a once in a life time dinner experience. For the two of us we spent nearly 200 (including the tip) but we both felt that it was more than well worth it.

For a restaurant that advetises they're open until 10PM on a Thursday night, they were certainly not customer focused when they refused to seat us at 9:20PM. I had a friend flying in from out of town who had looked forward to eating at the restaurant all day, had her flight delayed, yet made it in what should have been plenty of time.

I realize they wanted to close the kitchen on time, but in my opinion refusing a seat at 9:20 is ridiculous. Arriving at 9:20 should allow plenty of time for ordering and getting food before 10PM. If you're going to refuse service at a certain time, maybe you should post THAT time on the web and on your front door instead of the actual time you plan to lock the door!!

I have been to Churrascos several times, but its been quite a while. I took my husband there for his birthday and was fairly dissappointed. We were seated in a room that I had not been in before and there was a party of about 30 people. I should have asked to be moved because of the noise. The service was sluggish at best. When it came time for dessert where they would normally give the birthday person a piece of tres leches, we got dessert menus instead. I had to remind the waiter that it was my husbands birthday. I dont know if he forgot or was try to get us to order other desserts. Our empty plates sat on the table 10 minutes or so before they noticed us. It took too long for them to offer us another drink when we were empty. My husband enjoyed his steak, but it came out medium rare rather than rare as he ordered it. This place has really seemed to have gone downhill. For a 56.00 steak, I expect perfection. I did visit Americas recently, which is the sister restaurant with pretty much the same menu )and got much better service and quality. Maybe its just the West Chase location.

I haven't been here in 10 years, but it's still great! I brought Eight Friends Out dinner club to the new and improved Churrasco's at Shepherd Square, and I love the large open room and bar area. We were seated in the private room, and it was very nice. Service was absolutely superb! The omelette with shrimp and bacon was the favorite, along with the chocolate mousse dessert, a chocolate layered tower topped with flan and white choclate. The Sangrias were giant. I am so happy they now do brunch!

We went Sat. pm for our anniversary and were seated within 5-10 minutes of our reservation time - we arrived early and they told us that they were running slightly behind. Our waiter was wonderful and willingly answered our questions. The wine that we wanted was out of stock, but he made a couple of suggestions in the same price range and let us try them before we settled on a bottle. The food was absolutely delicious and the entire staff was very professional. Definately will go back again!

You can't go wrong with this restaurant. The ceviche and empanada de meduros are to die for, the salads are fresh and inventive, and the black bean soup served in a roll of bread is mouth-watering. As for the entrees, the Churasco Steak is delicious, the pollo bajia is hard to resist and the snapper is savory. Try the Tres Leches or the Chocolate version of this favorite treat. Homemade sorbets are also a refreshing way to end the meal.

The flavors are interesting, but the steak was tough. Service was slow with an attitude.

I attended one banquet here and it was a fiasco. By the time my end of the table was served, the others at the table were finished with their second course. And this was supposed to be a wine dinner! You can guess how much wine was left fpr us.

Their steak is wonderful...no question about it. But don't stop at the steak. The pork tenderloin is the best in town. The plantain crusted chicken is the best dish in the house. The grilled veggies!!!!! While the appetizers are great PASS THEM UP, they are pricey. Save the money for desert. You'll get more than you can eat with the salad, entree, and veggies. If you stay away from the apps, you'll get out for about $30.00 a head without booze. Truly a bargin for the quality. As my British friend says "A remarkable value for money."

We waited 20 minutes for our reserved table. The experience started badly, especially when we met our waiter. He loved the sound of his own voice and ignored 3 seperate requests: 1) could you please repeat the special? 2) I'd like a glass of white wine, and 3) I didn't receive my glass of wine, could I please have a glass of white wine?

All of this before we ever ordered dinner. When we ordered he proceeded to tell us what we should order. I don't know about you but I know better than a stranger what I'm hungry for.

The restaurant served terrible food and had very poor service. I wouldn't let my dog eat here.

Cons: expensive, ugly, crowded

The South American flavors come through every dish. Whilke best known for its churrasco, the seafood dishes are superb and the appetizers, outstanding. The excellent wine list should help Houstonians familiarize themselves with excellent wines from Chile and Argentina. The deserts while typical, can't compete with fine European pasty.
The service is prompt, attentive and efficient, and the athmosphere relaxing and pleasing. The hous wines at the bar are surprisingly Californian, expensive and mediocre.

Although Churrascos is a fine establishment the steaks are average in my opinion.

The Churrascos steak is the best in Houston. I find it more flavorful and tender than Pappas and Sullivan's. The best compliment to it is their divine lobster tail! It is also served at Americas!

Churrascos steak is so tender that steak knives are not even offered when it is served - nor do they need to be! One's butter knife is all that's needed.

It is hands down my favorite place to eat in Houston. The food, atmosphere and service are all excellant. My wife and myself go there to get away and have a long dinner of talking, eating, and drinking some of there very fine wines.

I always order steak and eat my way through plates of plantains (a type of banana). If you've never tried them, they are very unique since they are served as a vegetable but are sweet. Interesting sauces.

Good veggies too.

I rarely eat beef, but when I do, I always go to Churrascos. The grilled veggie platter is wonderful. The ceviche is also great. I can't say enough good things about this place!

Owner Michael Cordua from Nicaragua is credited with bringing South American cuisine to Houston. His menu---like the colorful and polished decor---reflects all the flavors of Latin America. All diners start with the (free!) fried plantains…
