5 Stars: a politicians mistress (by missmegank)

So my man took me to Tru for my birthday and surprised me with this Amazing rain shower/waterfall eritoca. I am not kidding you, I felt like a politicians mistress the entire time.

They lead you into this back room where you de-robe, then they show you the shower where there are edible body scrubs and exfoliators .....The lady tells you that you have ten minutes to "play" with the body polishes and then a hot fog will occur where the shower turns into a sauna. After the sauna, it turns into a rain shower that starts off cool and gets hotter and cooler (absolutely tantalizing!).... After the rain shower, the water fall starts that fills a rock tub/ jacuzzi.

I would totally do it again and recommend it to anyone who wants to feel like a goddess. yummy!

4 Stars: Wonderful Spa Day! (by ConsumerSF)

I went to Tru Spa for the day and I had a Tru O2 facial, manicure and a pedicure. I enjoyed my services. My skin was peeling prior to my facial and the facial helped to calm and relax my skin. I also loved my mani and pedicure. The massages felt great and my nails looked so nice.

Overall: I had a relaxing & good time at Tru and I can't wait to come back!

5 Stars: Best Massage ever!!! but too expensive (by mdnb)

I had the BEST massage at Tru Spa. The therapist was nice, polite and didn't talk too much during the massage (his name was Erik). The room was at the perfect tempurature. And they have a really cool lighting system... but it's pretty expensive. It's worth it if you're looking to treat yourself. All of the staff is polite and it's very clean.

5 Stars: best massage ive had so far (by akmarine17)

a friend and i went there a couple of days ago and i had the best massage that i have had yet with diane. we also did the jungle love with c.c. and she was awesome! usually when i go to spas they like to make awkward conversation and neither diane or c.c. did that. the next time im in san francisco again (if ever) then i will definitely go there again!

5 Stars: the most sublime spa experience in san francisco (by maddy51)

the first time i experience tru was when i booked a party of 4 for my sister's bridal shower. i wasn't exactly sure what to expect. the staff helped me arranged everyone's schedules of massage, facial & mani/pedis... which was a weight off of my mind. since it is attached to the holiday inn, there is valet parking which i take advantage of each time i visit - get that vip treatment & avoid precious spa time looking for parking in chinatown. the entrance is immediately calming to ones senses, through the smells & sights & sounds. the lockers are great, along with the robes & complimentary champagne drink (if you please to indulge); their mojitos served during the pedicures are sublime as well.

i can not visit & leave without getting a massage & a pedicure... it's nearly their backbone of services. they're worth every penny & leave you feeling gorgeous & ready to pose for a fashion editorial. can you tell that i've been here before? there's a reason why- they're good!.

5 Stars: Great customer service, professional facials. (by brussellsf)

Tru's staff is consistently pleasant and professional, they are very welcoming. Jill does very thorough facials, she does a really great job. The mani/pedis there are really good quality as well. I also enjoy the spa's product offerings and late night hours.

5 Stars: Best rockin massage! (by mcrocket)

Came here with my beautiful daughter for a little down time. Had an amazing experience with a facial from Maria.. I have had facial's and then I have had this facial. Maria took such great care of me, and I left glowing from ear to ear, of course I had a massage with CeeCee first which might have something to do with the glow, this massage was like nothing I have ever experienced before. It was not just a massage, but like a life rejuvenating life changing experience. She seemed to read my mind, I was under such stress and she took me on a guided journey while working out my knots gently but firmly. My experiences before where always too deep, too light, too much talking, etc.. but she had to of read my mind! Everything was perfect from head to toe. This was a mind body experience that led me to an ephiany in regards to my own life. This therapist is a true healer and a truely enlightened being. Thank you for caring.
I loved the champagne, great way to start decompressing and get in the mood. Brownies, perfect.
The beautiful blue of the spa is so calming.
The cost is a bit high, but then again you pay for what you get and I did get more than my moneys worth.
Im true to TRU from here on out.
Thank you for creating an oasis with amazing therapists and pampering. I am still so high

5 Stars: Champagne and brownies? (by msnetkova)

My boyfriend and I loved this place! It was impeccably clean with friendly staff and talented massage therapists. While you wait, you can enjoy a cold glass of champagne with gourmet cheese, fruit, and rich chocolate brownies! Men get beer... I also believe that prices are reasonable for the amount of care and attention you get. Highly recommended.

5 Stars: Tru Love (by lilyb111)

What a great place! I have been here a handful of times, a few of which i was lucky enough to get treated to through work! Their About Face is super fancy, more so that I have the budget for on a regular basis, but i did feel pampered that's for sure. I stick to their Tru02 and occassionally spring for the Tru02+ if it's been a good sales month. I've just started getting massages (was intimidated for a while to try them) and I'm so happy I did! I've found some fantastic therapists through Tru, I can't remember all of their names but both the male and female therapists were great. Also, their nail treatments are very nice, but more for a special occasion to share time with your girl friends in my opinion, we come for work sometimes and it's a good place to bring clients for sure. I tell everyone about tru because I always leave happy.

1 Stars: most over-rated spa ever! (by spafriend)

I have never written an online review for any establishment I've visited but I felt compelled to warn future clients about Tru Spa after my own harrowing experience.
My friend and I were visiting SF and were looking forward to pampering ourselves with a nice facial during our trip. No strangers to spa treatments, we were quite excited to try out the Tru02 facial based on the glowing reviews posted on City Search.

We checked in at the front desk and were later ushered into the back and given our robes and slippers to change into. The robes were stiff and extremely rough and my sandals were uncomfortable because there were various cracks all along the top. Not a great first impression but again, the glowing reviews subdued any reservations I was feeling.

My name was called and I was escorted to the treatment room by my facialist. The room was basically one bed with spa equipment hidden behind this cheap-looking gauze curtain. Instead of a dimly lit room with soothing music in the background, the room was sunlight-drenched with pop music blaring through their speaker system. Not exactly the relaxing experience I was expecting.

Despite all this, all would have been forgiven had the facial been satisfying. Needless to say, the experience was beyond disappointing. The facialist didn't even ask what type of skin I had and then proceeded to slather my face with various oils (I have combo skin, btw) and exfoliants. She didn't bother to apply a headband barrier so all the oils and creams proceeded to run down pass my hairline and into my hair. After my facial, I walk over to the mirror and realize that my face is extremely shiny and slick from the products used and my hair looks like I've dunked my head in a vat of grease!

In the end, I washed my greasy face & hair and vowed to warn others of my experience. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!

5 Stars: under-rated (by ninaGi)

How have I not heard about this spa until this year?! I had a gift card to Relax Now and found out they went out of business. I was directed (via their phone message) to call Tru to redeem the gift card. Well little did i know that was my lucky day. I found the cities best technician's ever in Tru. My face glowed like never before after their Tru02 Plus facial (with oxygen and LED treatment included amongst other customized incredible products). I had Scot for a massage and he was fantastic (since then I have also had massages with Rhonda, Sarah and Eric, all of which were top notch!). I can not wait to get back to experience some of their other treatments, including this Rain Forrest room which sounds so fun. I am surprised at some of the poor reviews they get as my experience was very very good. I am also shocked I'd never heard of them before as I found out recently they've been open for over 5 years. I'm so happy I've found them!

5 Stars: Get ready to feel your BEST!!! (by jc415)

i Have been coming to this place for my facials and not only they remain consistent to the level of service, this place exceeds my expectation every time. They are very attentive to all my needs, ont of the esthethicians, maria is such a sweetheart. She made the experience worth coming back. I have had nightmares about extractions but she is no other estheticians i have ever met, her style is gentle yet effective. She made me feel like she cares about my skin and genuinely wants to help me. The best part is that she explains every single things that she does on my skin, from what kind of topical ointment she's using and why she thinks that it is benefecial for me. I love this place. Thank you so much TRU SPA!!!

5 Stars: Amazing facials and massage! (And I've had a few in my day...) (by LGalP)

My fiance gave me a gift certificate for a facial and massage and I had the treatments week before our wedding. The facial was great-- very customized for my skin. I also had some facial waxing. The wax was perfect for my sensitive skin and she was able to do it so things looked natural. I felt very invigorated after the facial.

The massage was stupendous!! I loved the selection of body butters (I even bought a few and I continue to use them to this day-- they are luxurious!). My masseur had magical hands and I was in heaven!!

The whole experience was so fantastic-- waiting with champagne, cheese and grapes and being escorted from service to service. The showers were refreshing and the overall service was very accommodating. I will definitely be back!!

5 Stars: Kick Butt Spa (by Withdrawls4NYC)

Unfortunately, I didn?t know about this spa two years ago when I first move to the Bay Area. It's inside the Hilton in the Financial District/ Chinatown? and the spa itself is in a truly beautiful and relaxing space.

So I have been frequenting spas since I was a kid esc. and this is one of the best ones. I think that this spa is absolutely fabulous! This was not my first time to a day spa, but I must say, it was the best experience I've ever had! They were not stuck up like some other spas in the San Francisco area.

I had the pleasure of having a facial and brows done here, by the lovely and talented Melisa. She corrected me twice. She did a wonderful job on my brows. She really knew what she was doing and made me feel like I was on cloud nine. By the end of my service I felt like a new person.

They also have a wonderful locker room full of goodies!

I will be sure to save my pennies and get something more, like the super facial or a massage, in the near future. I've recommend Tru to all of my friends!

5 Stars: The Best Brazilian Wax! (by sabw)

I have been getting brazilians for years and TRU is by far the best. They use hard wax, which doesn't stick to your skin, so you don't feel like a layer of your skin is being ripped off. I have told all of my girlfriends to go here.

5 Stars: My favorite (by sallysally11)

This is by far my favorite spa in the city. It has a modern, sheik very trendy vibe. The staff is always very friendly from booking to check in to bringing champage and the service during treatments is the BEST I've ever experienced. I've seen several of their esthetician's always hoping to find a "favorite" but they are all so knowledgeable and the results of my treatments are so good I have yet to find one that I don't want to see again. The few massages I've had there are done with perfect pressure, focus on exactly the areas I complain about and are so relaxing I can feel the relaxed results of them for over a week after my treatment. The nail and waxing services are also top notch. The nail technicians are friendly, however I prefer to zone out during my mani/pedi's and being able to put on the head sets and drift away to sexinthecity is such a great treat. The one problem is the products they carry. There are too many to choose from! I love them all though, especially the recent additions of Eminence and Epicuren. They keep my skin looking fantastic. I'm a huge fan of tru, although I do often try out other places in the city because I'm addicted to spas, but i normally come here every other time, often times to correct what a different spa has done lol.

1 Stars: Caveat Emptor! Beware Tru spa. Terrible customer service when you actually need it. (by dsitasri)

The first time I went to Tru, the experience was fine. I got an O2 facial and glycolic peel, left fresh-faced and slightly buzzed off sparkling wine. It wasn't the BEST facial I'd ever had, but OK, perhaps a 7/10.

I went back a month later, and things changed drastically. The service and facial were initially similar. The extractions, however, were overaggressive for post-peel skin. I said something (along the lines of "OWWW"), and the facialist reluctantly backed off.

My face looked red and swollen in the Tru spa mirror, but when I expressed concern, I was told it was "normal" post-facial. By the time I got home, I looked like I'd been clawed by a cat. Dark red imprints marked both cheeks (possibly nail marks?), and my face HURT. I called TRU immediately, but my facialist was gone. The receptionist advised me to call back if it persisted the next day. I was worried, and insisted that this was NOT normal post-facial irritation. She repeated her advice to call back the next day and hung up.

I applied aloe vera and went (painfully) to bed. By the next morning, the dark red marks had started pigmenting, and I looked AWFUL. After paying over $150 for a facial, peel, and tip, I couldn't even go to work without heavy makeup.

When I returned the following day, the receptionist made a big fuss over THIS "visit" (aka damage control) being complimentary. An aesthetician examined my skin, said it was "just irritated and sensitive," and advised me to wear sunscreen. She gave me a smear of sunscreen in a cup, and sent me on my way.

NO apology. NO offer to reimburse the disastrous visit. Simply a "free" 10 minute visit and a day's worth of sunscreen. NO offer of follow-up to re-check my skin.

I will NEVER return to TRU. Skin sensitivity can vary, and accidents happen, but . . .
They made NO acknowledgement of an error, gave NO support when I called with a concern, and made NO significant effort to help fix the situation. BEWARE!

5 Stars: very relaxing facial (by nicoleh21)

Last Saturday, I had the tru02 facial at tru. It was a great experience, not only does my skin look great but I really appreciated the arms/hands and lower legs/feet massage during the treatment in addition to the usual "neck and face" one.

5 Stars: I've never looked better (by Allie_F)

If you are looking to turn your skin around, go see Megan! She is one of the best. Caring, knowledgable ... she has really made my skin look better than it did 10 years ago. She has improved the texture, the tone, tightness and helped me with my adult breakouts. Her product recommendations are always right on and really helps supplement my home regime when I am between facials. I really can't say enough about Megan.

5 Stars: My skin never looked/felt so good!! (by lawandorderlady)

I came for a facial, my first. I wasn't sure what to expect, was a bit nervous. But, a little saint named Megan, made every thing all right!! Talked me through what to expect of the facial. Did all sorts of fancy things to my face. I didn't know I would be getting a massage- which, btw, was so deliciously relaxing. Taught me about stuff to do at home. Basically, she changed my feelings about my face. So, save your pennies, and buy all of your family and friends gift cards for the holidays. Could be the best gift ever. It was for me!

5 Stars: Hollllar....for a great massage by..... (by beanie77)

.........Jerrol! This women rocks and has been a massage therapist for over 20 years. I left the spa so relaxed I forgot to grab my bag of goodies. She has an amazing touch, great pressure and the massage is 75 minutes versus many 50 minutes places for the same price as other spas. The shea butter she used made my body feel soft, not greasy. Thuy is excellent for pedicures, who pays attention to detail and can draw a little flower on your toes! Tru Spa is great if you are looking specifically for a "treatment" instead of the whole "spa" amenities. Next I'll have to try one of those oxygen facials I've been hearing about!

5 Stars: perfect post-work wind down (by langl)

I have been coming here for about 2 years and really can't get enough of this place. I work in the financial district so location is wonderful. I often times find myself dreaming of the rainforest room towards the end of my day and have been known, on occasion to slip out early to head over to Tru when it's been a stressful day at the office. Although their facials are by far my favorite and in my opinion best facials in the city, or any city for that matter, i have yet to have a poor treatment here. I've been with many of their technicians, but from memory I would recommend Megan, Rhonda (both for facials and massage) Logan and Elizabeth. Their staff is on point at all times and they always try to accomodate even last minute appointments. I love tru and recommend it to all of my friends and co-workers.

1 Stars: Avoid massages. Not worth the money. (by eelinor)

I had a deep tissue massage by Stephen and it was awful. I get deep tissues regularly and I know how I feel after a good treatment. I usually feel no tightness and my knots are gone, and I'm left feeling loose, relaxed, and relieved. After my $100+ massage, I felt just the same as before! I asked Stephen why I still felt tight and still felt knots in my upper back and neck. As he quickly ushered me to the locker room, he just said he did not feel knots. Tru can keep the robes and the champagne, all I want is someone to relieve my aching back!

4 Stars: Jen = Amazing Brazilians (by adietz325)

I booked my first brazilian here after scouring CitySearch for the most miniscule differences in reviews of the best places in San Francisco. I originally had an appointment at Bella Pelle and ended up having to cancel it b/c of something that came up randomly. They didn't have availability for when I could make it, so I wound up booking at Tru. They randomly gave me Jen, and I was nervous because it was my first brazilian. They assured me that she had a great reputation. I read all the reviews here, and I have to say that there are very few that discuss Tru's brazilian waxes, which made me nervous, too. But when I went in Jen was absolutely AMAZING. She's really chill, adorable, and was totally natural and conversational, even in the face of smearing pink wax all over my netherregions.

The only reason that I don't give the place 5 stars is that the girls working at the front - while they were adorable and sweet - were not exactly helpful in that they showed me into the bathroom to put numbing cream before my wax, but then did not give me any instructions as to where I shoud go next. I had to come out of the back room where the bathroom was, wait on a line until they were done serving other customers, and then ask them where to go while they gave me a look like I had 6 heads. Then then merely pointed over to a couch in the corner of the front room, rather than leading me into the supposed "fresh-baked brownie" waiting area that I had read about. Luckily that meant I would not be tempted to snack, but it would have been nice to have the service that was promised.

However, all in all, this place was great because of the quality of the esthetician. Jen, great job! You saved the day :)

2 Stars: Mediocre Mani and Pedi (by febriani28)

ok..so I thought this place would at least have a cool and modern room for mani and pedi but I was wrong. Yes, the whole entire place looks just like the pictures on the website but the mani and pedi room was really not what I expected. It was small and only had 3 stations. Even though the flat screen TV was cool everything else was definitely average. I have been to places in LA where they offer $50 bucks for Express Mani 'n pedi and it was Excellent. but for the price that they charge for in Tru is definitely not worth your money. I ended up with uneven nails and I got hang nails within 4 days!! the milk and cinnamon scrub they use for my hands did not smell so great after I was done. so my peppermint pedi was okay but definitely not worth $45!! My nails started chipping within 5 days and my pedi survived for 10 days...Overall, my experience was below average...not to mention we have to pay $5 extra for parking..so not worth your time! My pedi from the place in LA lasted me seriously 1 month!! I am not joking nor kidding...my mani only lasted 2 weeks before it started chipping...so I suggest maybe stick with their other treatments..

5 Stars: Excellent Deep Tissue Massage (by blueredpurple)

I had one of the best therapeutic massages of my life, thank to Scott at Tru. He is strong but sensitive.
1 Stars: Not Professional (by kevinlynn)

I didn't like my pedi at all! The room where they put me in for pedi is so small and not pretty at all. Just a basic chair and nothing luxurious! Any my pedicurist is not very detailed in her work. I would not recommend this place for mani and pedi.

5 Stars: Lives up to the reviews! (by John3B)

Bought my wife the "Full Monte" as a delayed anniversary gift, she's never had the pampered spa treatment before, so she got this while I was in a conference (we're from out of state). Her report consisted mainly of exclamations of "oh my God", and "awesome", and "absolutely wonderful". Her therapist, Sarah, was so good at her craft that my wife fell asleep twice during the massage - obviously she was made to feel welcome and not at all a stranger. Highly recommended - she had some back and shoulder pain (chronic) going out there, this fixed her aches and pains for the rest of our week and a half in San Francisco. It's nice when the reality matches the advertising.

5 Stars: A Wonderful experience!! (by jmperry18)

I was in town from Chicago and had a spa day on May 24th. It was the best spa day I have ever had, and we have great spas here at home. I had an amazing1:45 min massage with Landon, and Rachael was great for my facial and back treatment. My moji-toe pedicure was also great, and the champagne mojito that came with it was out of this world. The customer service was great and the spa is beautiful. I'll be back in San Francisco at the end of August, and I'll definitely be making a trip back to Tru. Thanks everyone...I had a wonderful experience and I cannot wait until I return!!

5 Stars: love it (by shadess)

I came here after searching CS for the perfect facial before my wedding and the reviews do not lie! OMG, my skin has never looked better. I got tons of waxing done too, and i'm never getting waxed with a strip again! The hard wax makes brazilians sooo much less painful (not sure what the review below is referring too...?) The esthetician I found out while chatting during my treament has been in the industry for over 10 years, as has many of their staff, so no matter who you're with you will be taken care of. I also received a massage after the facial and all my waxing and left feeling incredible. I can't wait to go back!

3 Stars: Not sure what the buzz is about (by robyn74)

I scheduled an appt for a bikini wax and was told to get there 15 mins early. Although it's nice that they offer you a bottle of water and a magazine when you get there, it seems like a waste of 15 mins since there was no apparent reason for getting there so early-I was seen exactly at my appointment time.

The wax itself was mediocre. I'm not sure if it's because they don't use cloth strips, but I've never had anyone remove wax without pulling the skin taut first. The result was very painful and I had some small bruises the next day. I felt like she was going over the same places again and again which never happens when they do use the strips.

I may try this spa for another treatment since the reviews are so good, but I will go elsewhere for waxing.

Never had skin problems ever but, last year I broke out in ?massive? adult acne. I hated the way I felt and hated my skin. If I had the nerves, I would have cut off my skin- thank goodness I didn?t- lol. With little knowledge about skin care I sought help at Tru. The staff at Tru (doesn?t matter which one you book with) is incredibly educated and well trained. They actually care! My skin is immaculate now thanks to Tru.
5 Stars: First Class (by natajono)

I decided to write about my most recent experience at Tru which was a massage that was wonderful, but after reading the below review I think I need to comment on it. I've done the Pairs Polish and it's amazing! He must have had an abnormal experience because I brought my boyfriend in for it and both of us were wow'd by the treatment, the facility, the staff and the awesome experience and fun that comes with doing the Pairs Polish together. It is a MUST try!!!
As for my massage, I was with a therapist named Leslie, and she was amazing! I've had many massages over the years and this was one of, if not the best I've ever had. The lights, the music, the shea butter they use all add t0 the perfect atmosphere then her skill just tops it off.
Have also had facials and waxing at Tru with many different estheticians and they're all great! Their facials are my favorite treatment and just leave my skin looking wonderful. I heard they just added a ton of new things to many of their facials so I can't wait to try them all out!
By far the best spa in the city!

5 Stars: Best mani-pedi (by roe464)

I took advantage of an online coupon offered to people who have been to Tru Spa in the past year and pampered myself with the Moji-Toe pedicure and Vanilla Sky manicure at a huge discount. The Moji-Toe actually comes with a Mojito! Just seconds after I slipped my tired feet into the aromatic soaking tub, my minty drink arrived. Mounted to the wall in front of me was a TV playing recent episodes of Grey's Anatomy. I'd never watched the show before, but midway through the second episode, I was hooked and didn't want to leave, even though my toes and fingers were completely dry. I expected to be politely shoved out the door, but instead I was offered another Mojito and encouraged to stay til the end of the show. Now that's what I call service! Thanks, Tru Spa!

5 Stars: best facials, knowledgable staff, meticulous nail work (by divaliciousxo12)

I've been coming to Tru for awhile now and I must say, there's nowhere that I could or would rather go to for treatments. The facials always leave my skin glowing and looking so healthy. I usually see Jen or Rachel for waxing (but I've gone to many others too and they all do an equally amazing job) and their skill combined with the use of hard wax just can't be beat! I never have any of those post-wax issues that so many unfortunate women must suffer through (bumps, sensitivity, ingrown hairs, etc.) and I absolutely love the results every single time. Manicures/Pedicures are always meticulously done with TOP-notch results (the polish lasts for weeks!) and I love being able to sit back and watch endless episodes of Grey's Anatomy while sipping on a yummy Mojito. Lastly, the front desk staff are always so courteous and friendly, not to mention knowledgable about products and they know/greet me by name. So thanks Tru, for welcoming me, pampering me, relaxing me, and making me fabulous!!

1 Stars: Avoid the "couples treatment" (by jburns0420)

So I got a couples spa treatment for me and my girlfriend as a Valentines gift. Paid $200 and felt like I was rushed (we were 15 minutes early) through the process in less than 45 minutes. The lady who helped us tried rushing us from the locker to the "rainroom". She never really gave us any instruction so we had to guess and assume. The rooms had long hair near the drains from the previous customers. We found that very gross. Once we changed we were never asked how it was and showed ourselves out the door.

Also they don?t truly "validate" your parking. You still have to pay $5.

Overall very disappointed. Would not recommend to a friend, save your money.

I am a hairdresser and have worked in salon & spas-so I know my stuff-my experience was superior. My facial with dermabrasion and oxegen was plentifull and well worth the money spent. Jen was very nice and personanble- she made sure I had enough of what I wanted-not skimpy at all on service. I like the clean simplicity of the spa. Steps fron the door is validated/valet parking at 5.00 which makes it easy to roll up and out of the spa. I treated my partner to a massage- he loved it. The manacures and pedicures are special with oatmeal, milk and other nurturing ingredients for the feet and skin.

5 Stars: The best Facials anywhere!! (by kikialfa)

I will never let anyone else touch my face! I came in for the Tru 02 because I'd read about it in a magazine, and it lived up to it's hype. My skin looked and felt amazing immediately afterward and the results actually lasted. Their product selection was impressive, but the actually use the products you see in their lobby in the facials too which many spas I've been too use cheaper products in their backbar so that was a big plus. This place gets 2 thumbs up from me and I'll be returning to get more facials and test out other treatments soon.

Recently, I enjoyed a facial at Tru Spa. The setting is relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was no sales pressure. The snacks looked like they'd been out for a little too long, but the champagne was lovely. Thanks!

5 Stars: Pairs Polish! (by amanderson1)

My boyfriend surprised me with the Pairs Polish treatment and massage the day before Valentines day and it was amazing!! The staff is so friendly, the facility is top notch, and the rainforrest room is a blast! I couldn't have asked for a better experience or gift for valentines day. The massage was great, we were both very satisfied with the outcome and can't wait to come back for more! Loved it!

5 Stars: Love at first sight (by nicolebag)

I have lived in the city for ages and am so bumed I just found out about this place. As soon as I waked in i knew I was going to become a regular here. Everything is so bright, clean and professional feeling. I went in only for a wax because I'd heard good things from co-workers, but chatted with the esthetician about the other services and booked a facial for next week while I was checking out. I also bought 2 gift certificates for friends so they can come with me! This is the perfect place to get a great gift for someone in the city! They will not be disappointed. Can't wait for my facial next week :)

5 Stars: Best Facial I've Ever Had !!! (by larobins)

Stefani gave me the best facial I've ever had...she took her time and her attention to detail was meticulous...My skin has never been cleaner or happier and I left the spa feeling 10 years younger...how is it that a facial can put a spring in your step?...Well, I must say that Stefani's facial sure did...she's the best and I will certainly go back to her for anything I need...she knows everything there is to know and I trust her implecitily...she's the one to go to !!!

5 Stars: All time Fav (by nikkysm)

I've been to tru more time that I can count and have just never posted a review. Well the facials and massages are out of this world! I get facials much more often than the massages because I feel I need them more, but the Tru02 is the best thing you can ever do for your skin. It has turned around my complexion and skin in the best way possible. I have sent many friends and coworks to tru and they all love me for it. have been and will stay a loyal customer forever. I usually see Brandee or Jill but every single esthetician I've been too has given me great results and recommendations, everyone is very knowledgable there.

I just went to Tru after reading about their new seasonal treatment and i gotta say I loved it!! The treatment is in their tropical rainforest room which is very unique. The body treatments smell amazing and they left my skin super silky and just glowing. It a pomegranate and cranberry scrub and body mask, they only have it for a few months so I'd call to get in there while it lasts! This was my first time coming to tru and i was impressed with every aspect of it. It's very professional and has a wonderful atmosphere. I will be back to try their other treaments soon because I've heard great things about their facials and massages.

5 Stars: My massage place!! (by chrisjoo1)

I get massages all the time and recently came here on the recommendation of a friend. It is only a few blocks from my work so it's awesome to stop by on a slow day or after work some weeks. During my chat with the therapist I found out they use shea butter instead of oil which feels great and turns out it has tons of benefits for my skin which i was able to feel after evena few days after my skin was still extra soft from the massage. The therapist really knew what they were doing and listened to what i wanted. I will be returning here for all of my future massages and recommend it to all of my friends!

4 Stars: Great massage (by missheidy)

I wanted to treat my BF to a massage for his birthday and did my research on Citysearch. I saw that this place was highly recommended, so I set up an appt for both my BF and I. My preference has always been a female masseuse, but there was only a male and female available for our appts, so I gave the male masseuse a try. I unfortunately forgot his name, but it was actually a good experience. My BF enjoyed his massage as well. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the spa was very clean. I can't wait to go back to try the other treatments they offer.

5 Stars: first facial, but definitely not my last! (by sque)

I just got my first facial ever and i can't believe what i was missing. I've always had pretty good skin, a little combination types but overall nothing to complain about. I'd never felt I really "needed" a facial. A friend bought me a gift certificate for the Tru 02 and kept telling me how much I was going to like it. I had no idea how great my skin could actually look and feel! I was this super fresh glow and my pores were cleaner than I've ever seen them. I'm sure there are a lot of grea facial places in a city like ours, but Tru has made me a believer in facials, especially their oxygen treatments. I loved it! The esthetician was very knowledgeable and friendly as well.

I come here on a regular basis for massages either after work or on my lunch break. They have very skilled therapists and have helped with my back problems over the years. I usually try to schedule atleast a week in advance so i can get the exact time i want, but even when I call last minute they always try to work the schedule out so they can accomodate me. This place is great, and the location is key.

I recently stayed at the Hilton and got to experience Tru. The Citrus Sling Back pedi and double O mani were absolutely wonderful! My poor tired toes were totally rejuvinated for a night out on the town and they looked amazing, they even used my favorite brand of polish! I really enjoyed myself and plan to visit each time I come back to SF. Their staff was very accomodating and warm.

1 Stars: Don't go to TRU. They ruined my skin! (by elizabethsmith39)

I have heard mixed reviews on this spa for several years but decided to give it a chance as I was in the city one afternoon and had some free time. What a mistake. Not only was the front-desk staff unfriendly but so was the person doing my treatment. I have had many facials in the past and this was hands-down the worst I have ever had. It was not relaxing at all because the facialist seemed to be rushing through every step. Also, she performed a microdermabrasion on my face that left me with some streaky scabs -- it took a week for them to go away and I still have marks. I am considering taking legal action against the spa if the marks don't go away, which they should, according to a dermatologist I went to see about this issue. He asked where I went for treatment and when I told him he shook his head. So perhaps I am not the first person with raw skin after going to Tru.

5 Stars: I'm coming back! (by ambrc)

I used to go to Tru when they first opened and during the hotel construction seeked other options (not the best idea I've realized). I went to others in the city that had good reviews, claimed to be top notch and of course had prices that felt like I would be getting exquisite services, but I was constantly let down. The construction is long gone and I'm back and more appreciative than ever. Their estheticians are great, the oxygen facial leaves my skin absolutely glowing and their massage therapists just keep getting better. I am not planning to straying again!

4 Stars: Resting on Laurels (by surfer40)

I went to Tru when it first opened on a conf week from NY and thought it was one of the best spas I had ever been to. I have since moved to San Francisco and have been a regular customer for waxes, facials and massages. Its still a great spa but I have noticed a few changes on the negative side: the facial therapists have become quite pushy at trying to get you to have extra treatments and to buy products, I have no problem with them making suggestions but when they ask three or four times it gets a bit much. The waxing is also not as good as it used to be - they are using a new wax which the therapists need to almost pull at first to get a grip and its quite painful - none of them seem to be able to get the grip without causing some pain. On the good side, the massages are still first rate and hard to beat. I just want my favourite spa to be the same as it was last year!

5 Stars: LA girl loves it! (by jenjohnson1111)

I came to the city to visit a friend and she brought me here for an afternoon of treatments. Very good choice on her part. We each had their signature treatments which included and oxygen facial (Loooooved it!!), a 75 minute massage (also loved it!) and a pedicure that they served a mojito with and a great manicure. Was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. It didn't have the over the top "frofro" feel that a lot of spas have, but you still felt pampered and the end results were great. I wish i lived here so I could come more often.

5 Stars: cool place (by timd)

My girl friend actually brought ME here for HER birthday. She wanted me to share a spa day with her and had heard great things about Tru and knew that it was 'guy friendly'. We each had a massage which was great with some cool color light therapy that goes on during it. I don't know if it was just the massage or the combination of massage and lights, but i definitely left it feeling refreshed and energized. Then we met up in their rain room for the pairs polish - wow. I had no idea what to expect, but this would blowaway any expectations you might have. it's the most unique experience I've ever done. That alone would have been a great day. After the rain thing, we each had facials, which was fine and my girl friend keeps telling me how much better my skin looks so i guess it was great! We will be returning for any excuse we can find to do the rain room again!

1 Stars: Don't Go Here (by relt)

This is probably the worst facial I have ever gotten. I don't know what my facialist did, but I later ended up as a big scab on my cheek. I may not be a professional, but I certainly don't need to pay over $100 to have scab on my face that was a little smaller than an eraser tip. (I've had many facials and have never, ever had this happen.)

Not only was the extraction poorly done, unlike what other people say, it was extremely short. And my facial was less than the time I paid for.

Lastly, the woman in the front was very rude. Not exactly the relaxing atmosphere you would hope for when you walk into a spa. Go somewhere else. The cost does not match the service.

2 Stars: Very odd experience (by jmee)

I bought my daughter a facial at Tru for her 15th birthday (special treat). We arrived, and the "housekeeper" (as they called her) took us to the locker room. She offered us each a glass of champagne, and I explained that my daughter wasn't old enough but I'd like one. My daughter asked for a glass of water and was told "we don't have water." At a spa??? Hmm. So anyway, after leaving the bare-bones locker room and going to the even more bare-bones and tiny waiting room, in came the "housekeeper" with two glasses of champagne. One for me, and one for my 15 year old. Eyebrows among others in the waiting room all raised, as my daughter doesn't look anywhere near 21. Our facials were fine (not fabulous, but fine). At the end when I was paying, I told the lady at the front desk the champagne story so she'd know that a 15 year old had been offered champagne TWICE, even after being told she wasn't of age. The response? "Most of our customers are at least 18, so she must have thought your daughter was older." I reminded her the drinking age is 21 and not 18, but at that point I realized they simply didn't care. What a strange place. I definitely would not go back, especially given how expensive it was.

5 Stars: I'm staying loyal (by sandrasca)

Even though I'm not a local to SF anymore I am staying loyal to Tru. I used to get the chance to visit them atleast once a month for a facial or massage on the weekends and would go often for waxing or pedi's on my lunch break as I worked a block away and lived within walking distance. Now i live in the east bay and have yet to find some place to replace Tru. I just love the overall experience of walking into their great spa. I've never had a bad experiene with any of their staff or treatments and don't expect I ever will. My two favorites are the Tru 02 and About Face facials.

5 Stars: really good facial and massage (by mattsteele)

I have been to Tru several times for massages and have always been pleased. I've had Rhonda and Christine, both were excellent therapists. After reading all the great reviews about their facials I figured I'd try one. This is the first facial I'd ever had and I felt kind of funny being a guy, but they tell me that lots of guys get them. (?) It was pretty relaxing, although never having one before i had no idea what to expect and when they do the 'extractions' it kind of hurt. But when i saw my skin afterward I gotta say it was worth it. I never realized how good my skin could look. Megan was my esthetician and she was really chill, gave a great massage along with the facial and was really helpful in ways I can keep my skin looking great. I think I'll still come back for massages more regularly but will definitely drop in for a facial a few times a year to keep up the progress they've made with my skin!

5 Stars: Great Spa Day (by michba)

My daughter recently brought me here because it's her favorite spot in the city. I let her do the picking of what treatments I should get and I must say I was impressed with everything. When we arrived they greeted us by name and with a bottle of water. Then there was champagne brownies and fruit waiting for us once we got out of the locker room, I hadn't even had a treatment yet and I knew I was in a for a particularly nice day. I had a wonderful massage called the Full Monte followed by the most amazing facial, i believe it was called the About Face. My esthetician was wonderful and gave me a great massage as well as facial. I live in the East Bay so I don't come to the city too often over the weekends, but after experiencing Tru I will make it a point to visit more frequently!

5 Stars: Perfect Present! (by freshmodern)

I received a gift certificate to Tru from a friend as a birthday gift. I'd never heard of it but thought a facial was a nice treat. I've had a few facials over the years but nothing I'd ever consider so good I'd invest in getting one on a regular basis. Well my opinion on facials has forever changed now thanks to Tru!! I got their Tru02, which was what the gift card was for and my friend was telling me how much I'd love it. She was right, it was wondeful, my skin was glowing afterwards and still is 5 days later. My pores have never been so deep down clean I'm very impressed. The esthetician (Katie) was very accomodating and explained each step so I really felt like I learned a lot about my skin and how to take better care of it. I'm a huge fan of Tru now and am looking forward to my next visit!

5 Stars: pretty good (by casea33)

I came here with my girl friend for a pedicure (she keeps dragging me to places, but i gotta admit I'm liking them more and more) and this was a fun spot. The nail room is a private setting so guys, you don't feel like you're on display or awkward being surrounded by females. We had a few cocktails during the treatment which makes it fun, then we were able to head to the happy hour the hotel puts on. Great combo for an early work escape afternoon. While we were there we talked to some people about the couples treatment in a jungle room which sounded really cool so we're going to check that out next!

5 Stars: What a great weekend! (by mandyst)

I visited tru for the first time this weekend and was more than pleased with my treatments. A friend of mine came to visit and was staying in the new Hilton so I stayed with her. We decided to try the Spa and wow, what a great escape. We treated ourselves to a facial, the rainforrest room and a masssage....and it was wonderful. The facial was the best I've ever had, I was skeptical about the "oh so great oxygen treatment" they suggested but I'm very happy I had it. It left my skin glowing and looking beautiful. This is a place that has immediately went to the top of my favorite places in the city and I'm sure to be returning!!

3 Stars: Our cheeks were touching.. (by meow78)

This place wouldn't have been so bad if the waiting room was bigger. The waiting room must've been about 6'x10', with seats for about 10 people (at the most). When I went there, the room was so full, our cheeks were touching! It wasn't so pleasant since we're all in our robes.

The locker room was also very small, with no privacy at all. There are no other amenities except for two showers; however, the showers were very pretty.

My friend had a facial, she said it was average. I got a massage which was very painful.

Definitely not worth the price, but the staff were very nice.

I'm addicted to this pedicure. I go every other week either after work or on my lunch break to enjoy the Mojito Pedi along with a mojito champagne cocktail. I love the girls there, both the manicurists and booking staff, they're all very warm and friendly. I know I can get a cheaper pedicures at other places, but I feel the experience is totally worth it.

5 Stars: THE Best Facial! (by norcallight)

I love Tru's facials! The oxygen treatment is wondeful and my skin has never looked better!! I've been to Rachel several times and will never let anyone else touch my skin, this place is hands down the best in the city for facials. I recently tried the glamour eyes treatment before a big date and loved it. I wouldn't recommend doing that treatment for your first facial because it doesn't include extractions, but for a refresher between treatments, it's great.

4 Stars: Favorite place for a facial (by kjoyiss)

I LOVE the TRU02.

It's the best facial in the city (trust me, I've searched). The staff really lets you know all about different products and what to use inbetween your next facial. There is some pressure to buy the products recommend, so be aware. Also, it's best if you come early.

5 Stars: My Favorite Spa! (by cscano)

I've been to many day spas and Tru is by far my favorite. I started going to Tru for lunchtime Brazillian bikini waxes. Treatments like these are usually not the most "pleasant" but the skilled aestheticians and the hard wax they use make it so much more bearable...i will never go back to inexperienced waxers that burn my skin off!

Anyway the reason why I'm writing is b/c recently I got a lunchtime Peel. I was so skeptical...and scared...but it was always something I wanted to try. The treatment was incredibly relaxing, and was actually soothing, not painful. I was back in the office by 1 and my skin was NOT red. My cheeks and nose have never been so soft, not even with scrubs or other exfoliants. It was mild and not at all what I imagined from a "peel". I was very pleased, and got compliants for days on my skin. The best part was how it felt- soft as a baby's bottom. I will definitely go back to tru and am now considering other facial treatments. Well done!

4 Stars: fun times (by sammymc)

I've visited Tru several times and always get something different. I like the feel of this place, it doesn't have the sterotypical spa snootyness or fancy "Fro-fro" feel. It is clean and simple but very unique with a cool vibe. Great place to go during/after work since it's so close to the financial district. I would recommend this place to anyone for any of the services I've done which include massage, facial, and the rainforrest room (very cool). A friend told me they have a new - or new vamped massage called the Full Monte which is supposed to be great, that will be my next treatment.

5 Stars: Loved Every Minute! (by wickscrub)

Tru was a great time. It was my first time going to a Spa and I LOVED IT. My girlfriend and I went in to the Rain Forest Room and had a wonderful time. I had no idea what to expect but by the time we had to leave I was sad to go. The Atmosphere of the Spa, treatments, and the staff were great. (I even enjoyed the snacks in the lounge!) I cant wait to go back and try something else they have to offer. 2 thumbs up from this guy!

5 Stars: Great pre bridal event (by audreyjl)

I took my best friend here the weekend before her wedding and it was perfect! She'd never had a facial before and was worried about some blemishes she had. The Tru02 was amazing and left her skin perfectly clear for the wedding. She also received a massage and waxing, all of which were phenominal and left her totally prepared for the wedding. She was so happy we came here. I loved my treatments too but was thrilled that the bride was taken care of and liked her treatments since it was my wedding gift to her. Luckily I live in the city and am able to come back to Tru whenever I want, my friend lives hours away but is already planning her next visit to Tru!

I've always had a soft spot for facials so Tru has been on my favorites list for a very long time. I recently decided to have a massage after a very rough month in the office and getting older I realized how much the stress was catching up to me and wow, what a difference! My therapist was wonderful (Valarie) and made me feel so at ease I left feeling like a new woman!

I brought my family here during the super hot weekend to get out of the heat a bit before hitting the town during the evening. Although it seemed a little fancy for my father he ended up really enjoying himself. There were 4 of us and we had a variety of treatments. Everyone walked away feeling relaxed and satisfied. Massages was great, did the backstroke and my dad did the tru therapy 105. Facials were my FAVORITE part, i did the Tru02 and my mom did the about face, both of us were impressed with the results. We all did mani pedi's which were as fun as the names sound, Pepperming Pedi and Moji-Toe! Will be brining more groups here soon to share in the experience.

1 Stars: READ THIS! Terrible spa! Don't waste your money! (by lilcingo)

Ok, so a friend and I went to Tru in June for a spa day. We each had three treatments done . . . a message, a wet mud treatment and a pedicure. First of all, the waiting room was a small box, with uncomfortable seats and dirty walls. It later turns out my friend and I had the same massage therapist, Stephen. I can't believe this person even calls himself a therapist. He talked most of the time and he told me to "work through it" when I asked him (several times) to ease up on the pressure. I left the room thanking god it was over. My friend described her experience as having just gotten out of the washing machine. YUCK!!!!! I then had a great pedicure. No complaints there. Lastly, I had my wet treatment in the rainforest room. Great concept, but my therapist failed to give me any type of direction. After the water was turned on, it felt like forever before it finally stopped. That is only after the mat I was lying on slid off the bench. Great, I landed on my butt. Did I mention that it was extremely hot. Way to hot. I finally had to open the door to ask my THERAPIST for help. She in turn graciously pushed me back inside (again without any direction as to what was next.) FINALLY, I open another door and found the waterfall going. Again, way to hot. To top this lovely experience off, when I finally came out, my THERAPIST was standing there holding a glass of champagne. NO THANKS! All in all my time at TRU was a huge waste. To make matters worse I left without talking to the spa director. I finally, last week, left her a message to contact me regarding my experience, but to no surprise. . . I didn't get a phone call back. TRU is TRAGIC! After spending SEVERAL hundred dollars, I would have been better having a root canal.

I don't really consider myself metro, but i have to admit they do great manicures tailored for guys here. I got talked into coming for a visit a while back and now I'm a regular. It's close to work and easy to pop into on short notice (usually) since the treatments so short. I've also had massages here which are very good, but much harder to book the way I do which is last minute so I don't get to experience them as much as Id like.

I've been to Tru several times and have visited other spas in the city as well. After each visit to Tru as well as other spas I appreciate Tru more and more. Their front desk staff has always been very friendly and informative. Their estheticians and massage therapists are wonderful! I always leave wanting more. I've tried almost all of their treatments except the rainforrest room (which is on my list to try) and really can't decide on a favorite.

I have been a loyal patron of Tru for over a year now but just recently did the rainforrest treatment for the first time. I was very happy with the treatment and results. I've had body wraps elsewhere and this is much better! The experience itself is very cool but then to feel how silky smooth your hair and skin feel afterward, well no more wraps for me, I'm sticking with the rainforrest room. If you haven't tried it yet, you've got to get in!

This is by far my favorite place for waxing in the city. They use the best kind of wax and there's no irritation or sensitivity after, it's great! I've been going for about a year and have experienced several different estheticians, all of which were good, quick and super friendly. They do tend to book up quick before the weekends though so you can't do it last minute for a big weekend, always try to plan a bit ahead so you can get the time you want.

They have a serperate waiting area for men where you can hang out and have a beer while you wait, this place definitely knows how to cater to both guys and girls. i will be visiting there anytime my girlfriend wants now, maybe even without her!

5 Stars: Truly my favorite! (by stacyma)

I visited Tru several times a few years ago and loved them. Last year there was a lot of construction in their area and I mistakenly thought they were closed. I tried a few other spa's during that time and was not impressed, I'm so happy to be back at Tru! Previously I'd only had their facials, but recently I experienced the Tru therapy massage, it's great after a long week at work, a perfect way to wind down before (or after) the weekend.

5 Stars: TRU-ly Fabulous (by emmy414)

My first time at TRU will definitely not be my last. I got the Pure facial, and my whole experience, from walking into the spa, to being escorted to the locker room, to sipping champagne in the lounge, to the actual facial -- was fabulous. I love the staff members' down-to-earth attitudes and the minimalistic vibe. Jill is a very knowledgeable and friendly aesthetician -- I am very pleased with my visit to Tru, thanks in large part to her skills :)

I went in for a facial during the weekday. The staff is not friendly at all. They just want you to buy their products. I have been to many spas and this place has the most rude staff of any other. However, the facial itself felt really good eventhough I left feeling a little greasy.

5 Stars: This is what's called money well spent. (by balcony)

Oh if only I had a million dollars...I would spend a good chunk of it on you, Tru. I've been there a few times now and each time it just gets better and better. I've tried their facials, waxing and massages and I have not been disappointed. Everyone was so nice and it was just a mellow atmosphere-- no uptight attitudes, just calm relaxation from start to finish. The massage therapists are so attentive and really listened to my needs to create a session just for me. My facials are crafted for your needs as well and the estheticians are so knowledgeable and talented. I also had a back treatment which was great, like a facial for the back and everyone can use that. The value is amazing and their treatments are 75 minutes rather than the usual 50 at other places. Definitely a major discovery and I am already booked for my next appointments! Hope this information helped you choose where to go.

4 Stars: It is unfortunate (by unctuous)

I have been to Tru more than a few times. Every facial, massage, and nail treatment I have recieved have been wonderful. However, I have had some problems with making an appointment. The man that I spoke to last was pushy and rude at best. I don't know where he learned his customer service skills but they are serioulsy lacking. It is unfortunate that the talented staff at Tru has to be represented so poorly and if I wasn't already a loyal client I wouldn't have bothered.

1 Stars: There are MUCH better options (by rosemose)

I have been to Tru twice. The first time was alright, but the second time totally broke the deal for me. My treatment started late (and I checked in about 20 mintues early), and it still ended on time. I understand at spa they have to keep their schedules on track and cannot go over in time when you arrive late, but it clearly was not my fault that the massage started late, and they still charged me full price even after i mentioned the situation. Although their atmosphere is definitely high-tech, it seems like their menu is super-similar to Bliss Spa (which has been around in NY and London much longer that Tru spa) and now there is a Bliss in SF (and it rocks!), I will stick to the original

2 Stars: Mixed bag (by haydencat)

I've sampled Tru's facials, massages, and waxing. Their treatments are generally professional and high-quality. However, my 75-minute massages are often cut short, even though I arrive on time or early. Once my husband was shorted 35 minutes on his massage. It was not addressed by the staff; we had to bring up the issue when we checked out, and they acted at first like we were crazy. Then they talked with the therapist, and reduced the price without explanation. It was weird, and my poor husband left more stressed-out than when he went in. I only went back recently because I had a gift certificate, and sure enough, the heavily-advertised 75 minute massage was really only 65 minutes. Not a big deal, unless it happens all the time, which in my case it does for some reason. The spa lacks a steam room, and can feel cramped on the weekends.

5 Stars: I found the massage MAN!! (by janii)

Tried Tru for the first time because a lot of my friends absolutely rave about the place. I don't get real excited about massage, however, but my back was killing me and I have not found a place in the city yet that I really love. So I tried Tru and got Ulysses. He was absolutely amazing. I left almost too relaxed and a little worn out, but the next day my back pain was gone and I had more energy than ever. He does a lot of stretching which I think also helped. The place was as nice as advertised, and now I know why my friends like this place, it seems like they take care of every little detail. I have found my massage place and my massage man! Easily the best massage I have ever had.

3 Stars: Worst Massage Ever (by ctm456)

I left Tru feeling as though I needed a massage. The room was freezing cold and the only cover provided is a scratchy thin sheet. I'm used to spas with more sumptuous blankets and a warmer room. Despite telling the masseuse several times that I was freezing (and visibly shivering), she never offered to adjust the heat until I told her to go tell the receptionist. She blamed it on a previous male client who was probably too hot! By the time I got home, my back was tighter than when she started. I have bruises on my neck. I would not recommend Tru for a massage. It's unfortunate because the facialist I saw was wonderful. The location is terrible - the Hilton charges an outrageous amount for valet parking. Despite arriving 15 minutes early as instructed, my appointment began over 15 minutes late.

5 Stars: Definitely an experience worth repeating... (by vandana_nair)

We called Tru on a Sat morning, asking if they had any appointments for the weekend, completely expecting to be scoffed at for "waiting till the last minute for a spa appt. in San Francisco(??)" (what were we THINKING?!). But, to our surprise, they did have 2 appointments for the evening - 1 for a facial and 1 for a deep tissue massage...just what we wanted.
The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating (how is it that most salons just don't seem to get this? Listen, owners: if the first point of contact is a snobby, hipper-than-thou, couldn't-be-bothered-with-your-petty-concerns individual, that sets the tone for the entire visit! Hire polite front desk staff!!). Those performing the services were top notch, too.
We're not into the whole spa scene too much, but Tru will very likely be getting more visits from us.

5 Stars: Tru ly there is nowhere else (by slavinrac)

Tru is the absolute most fabulous spa in the entire Bay Area. Champagne, the brownies, cheese & crackers...how better to start off a visit? I first went to Tru a couple of months after moving to SF from LA...I had been to who knows how many places in SF before I finally found Tru. The facials are always perfect - my skin has never looked better in my entire life. I would tell you who has the most magic facial touch but I'm afraid it will make it more difficult to get an appointment when I want one. Try any of the facials, you will not be disappointed.

I have gone to TRU several times for brazilian waxes and a massage. Be sure to get there on time, I was late once and the woman went too fast on my bikini wax, almost scalding me and not using strips after I told her that is what I usually need for my hair type . The second time I had a great wax, the woman took her time and used tweezers at the end to get every last hair. The oils and wax make healing easy. Very soothing, comfortable, clean, and smells wonderfully like lavender. The massage was great too, get there 15 min early for a nice shower. The masseuse showed me a stretch to do so my neck and shoulders dont get soo tight.

5 Stars: Amazing Experience (by j00n32)

I paid for my girfriend to get a massage there, and she said it was one of the best she has ever recieved. Especially considering that she has gone to virtually every spa in San Francisco at least once since we moved down here, that should mean a lot.
I believe she said her massage therapist's name was Tasha (sp)? Somewhere along those lines. She was very professional and experienced according to my girlfriend.
Overall Tru Spa was very accomodating, and the ambience was soothing and relaxing. The place looks very well kept, despite the construction going on at the time right outside the spa.
In any case, thanks Tasha (sp?) for the great service you gave my girlfriend. Tru Spa was a great experience!

I have gone to Tru a couple of times for massages, but I'm really unhappy with them right now because I had to reschedule, and they are totally inflexible. I had booked 2 services-- a wax at 6:45pm and a massage at 7:30pm. Well, I know I'm going to run late, but they won't let me reschedule or switch appointments within their 24 hour policy. They're planning to just charge my credit card and I get absolutely no compensation. Other businesses will charge your credit card and let you use it as a credit for services at a later date, but Tru will not.

She was personable and professional. I walked away from the session feeling like a new person. I highly recommend a massage with Christine.
1 Stars: Very disappointed. Not worth the money. (by mspeepers)

I bought a gift certificate for my boyfriend so he could experience a mind-melting massage. He said the masseuse seemed young and inexperienced. In fact, he left feeling sore and feeling that he needed a massage. He had the TruTherapy 75 minute massage. On the website they say they will cater it to your needs, asking if you prefere a relaxing, energizing, or detoxifying, yet he said he wasn't asked. As he didn't know better he let her do her thing which was just okay. He's had better massages elsewhere and wouldn't want to go to TruSpa again and I certainly wouldn't get a gift certificate for someone else to go there. He did like the interior setting and the free glass of champagne.

5 Stars: Here comes the bride! (by j_dee)

Melisa is the absolute BEST skin care specialist I've ever been to. I recently had a facial with her - and unlike other facials - I did not break out at all or experience any skin irritation. Plus, I'm getting married in less than two months and I had some sun damage (brown spots, tan lines) to take care of. I went to three dermatologists, tried bleaching cream, etc. and NOTHING worked until Melisa. After a some of glycolic treatments, and mircoderm abrasion (a total of six) all of my sun damage is completely gone!! I could not be happier with Melisa - she is truly the most amazing skin care professional I've ever seen. I would HIGHLY recommend her!

1 Stars: not good (by tulip17)

I was very disappointed. To keep it short...average massage, rude front desk staff, my appointment started 15 minutes late, and they overcharged me when I checked out. I was also disappointed by the locker room, too small and cramped. It seems like the staff is so unhappy too. There are better options in the city.

3 Stars: Save your $$$ Tru is not worth it (by beth38)

There is no way you need to pay this much for services. I have had amazing facials for half the price. The environment is nice, but there are plenty of nice places of similar quality that charge half of what tru charges. Why not spend the money you would have saved goinh elsewhere on dinner out or even skin-care products.

5 Stars: Best Facials Ever! (by jenniferholmes)

Having moved here recently from the East Coast, I was in search of a good facialist. I was prepared to try out many to find `the one`, but I was pleasantly suprised when I blindly picked Tru from the long list of Spas on CitySearch, and was appointed to Angela. I`m hooked! She completely knows different skin types, and is awesome at analyzing your skin and making sure that the treatments have a benefitial effect on your skin. I`ve been going to her for about 5 months now, and love the glow I have whenever I walk out! I`ve been to many estheticians, and by far, Angela is the best! The spa itself is awesome, with friendly staff, and little nibblies while you wait for your services...

5 Stars: Amazing facials (by ejgsf)

One of the best deep cleansing facials in the City. The TRU02 is awesome -- if you want someone to clean your skin well without feeling like your at the dermotologist, come to tru. They do a great job balancing the relaxation of a spa while paying equal attention to the extractions and cleansing. The oxygen is so rejuvenating -- my skin always glows after facials here.

5 Stars: ultimate relaxation (by cm1)

Everytime I've been to this spa, it's been tranquil despite the number of clients. The atmosphere is great and relaxing. I usually opt for a peach mani/pedi combo, which I think is standard price at $100, but there are plenty of other services. The nail technicians are friendly, pleasant, and skillful, and the soaks and creams smell delicious.

My friends and I went to Tru as part of a birthday party recently. The service was great. They were able to book all 5 of us at the same time and gave great recommendations on types of services we might like. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is comfortable. Very clean and relaxing. I would recommend this spa to anyone looking to have a great day. Plus, everyone every cutomer I talked to while there raved about their experience too.

I receive facials once a month and my regular esthetician who moved from the city. I thought I was stuck until a friend referred me to Tru(e). I had a facial with Melissa and my skin looks and feels amazing. Plus it was in a relaxing, clean and professional environment. Definitely one of the best facials in the city. Try the Oxygen facial with Melissa.

you might want to go for nail care with a friend since there are only three stations in a room and if you're not into sex in the city or the conversations the other two are having it's not too relaxing. the chairs might be relaxing for a pedicure but not for manicures-- you end up leaning forward uncomfortably without back support. it was my first manicure ever and i didn't think it was thorough enough-- maybe i'm too obsessive but what about under the nail care? it was fine though and gave me ideas of what to do on my own. also i got a brow clean up and that was fine. i probably wouldn't go back for the manicure since i'm overly obsessive about every inch of my cuticles and would rather sit in an ergonomic chair but if those things don't bother you, i'd recommend trying it.

5 Stars: tru(e) revival (by bp13)

Tru is the greatest gift for body and skin. The massages are mind altering and the skin treatments bring my youthful years back to life. This is a fantastic spa!! The staff is friendly and competent. I was originally referred by a friend who suggested I needed some deep cleansing. Well, my pores got thouroughly cleaned out and I left there, not red or blotchy, but glowing and smiling from ear to ear! In my experience, facials are usually classified into two categories, clinical or pampering. At Tru I get the best of both, without any sacrifice and without breaking the bank. I've told my sister and many friends. I like the people at the front desk, who are always trying to get me in, even if I call last minute. If you have any skin problems, or just want a relaxing massage session, Tru is a great place.

I went here with some girlfriends last year and had a great time. The facility is beautifully designed and all the staff were attentive. I had a facial and a massage and were very pleased with both. I would love to go back for a mani/pedi and they are very concerned with sanitation. The refreshments and easy parking are a plus. I initially was concerned with the location (being in Chinatown), but once stepping inside, those concerns instantly disappeared.

1 Stars: DON'T BOTHER with TRU spa! They are overpriced , pushy and RUDE! (by lisamason)

Well, I have gone to this place 3 times now and I must say it is NOT what it used to be. At first it was nice. Not perfect, but nice. I loved the Acquaye massage balm they used in my massage and I purchased one and bought another for my mother along with a gift certificate for a massage. She also loved her massage when she came in to redeem the card. This was in 2005.

Since then I went back and had a facial. It was OK, but they tried WAY too hard to offer me upgrades and retail products. I ended up getting guilted into spending about $230 more than I had budgeted for this facial because they were so pushy!

Then, a few months ago I went back for another massage.......THIS WAS MY LAST TIME TO SET FOOT IN THAT PLACE! They no longer use the Acquaye balm, but have a cheap imitation labeled under their own name! The smell was like candy, not natural like the other one, and it felt greasy and waxy on the skin! Not at all like it used to be. My massage therapist told me that the owner copied the original balm and now found a way to make it cheaper. Well, it obviously shows. For a massage that costs $185 before tip, the least they can do is use the good products! How disappointing.

Tru Spa is just another money hungry business trying to get at your wallet! Be warned.

I just adored every precious moment of my time at Tru spa. My toe nails have never caught so much attention (from perfect strangers no less) and the masseuse was quite thorough. Rarest was the receptionist, who was both knowledgeable and friendly but never pushy. Thankyou so much for making my SF experience that much more fond in memory.

I went to TruSpa for my first spa facial and it was fantastic! So relaxing and the staff was very courteous and friendly. My esthetician gladly answered any questions really took her time in giving me a thorough facial-- we even ran a bit overtime. My spa tech gave me a "prescription" of products she suggested and they were left at the front counter for me but I did not feel pressured to buy anything (of course I left with 3 of the 5 items she suggested!). I left the spa a bit red and shiny (they are very heavy on the extractions) but my skin looks fab today... I can't wait until my next visit to Tru.

Tru is so amazing! The staff was down to earth and extremely personable! I highly recommend the "thick in the mud" treatment... it's like you're in the middle of the jungle- very exotic! Awesome place to unwind!

5 Stars: FIRST CLASS SPA! (by larchmont)

What a wonderful environment this is. Felt like I was on an Island in the Carribean! Refreshing staff, not snooty like other spas. Treatments were first class all the way. This is the place to go! I got an incredible pedicure. Slices of orange in the perfectly hot water to soak my toes. Not a drop of polish on my cuticles. At first, I thought the price was a tad steep (I am accustomed to little strip mall nail shops) but five minutes in I knew I was getting a deal! This place doesn't miss a beat! Every decoration, ammenity and staff member is there to make you feel relaxed, important and well cared for.
Splurge a bit -- it's WELL worth it!

5 Stars: exceptional service/treatments (by rosiesuxit)

I am a spa-o-holic and I LOVED IT- the minimal atmosphere-upbeat music-no enya-target water fountain BS...the wax they use is fantastic- call around-you cant find it-or places like BellaPelle will charge you more if you want it-ask their receptionist....
The facials are thorough without being too aggressive-they have late appointments..no place else validates parking-Refresh&Splash=$20
Great Great Place-anyone whos had a bad experience should have talked to the mnmgt-he would fix anything!
I have nothing but great things to say about this place.

5 Stars: details details (by javondiva)

I shouldnt have to write a positive review because somebody pays attention to the details of their business and their customers, however, it is done so infrequently these days that the folks at Tru spa warrant some attention. I called many places and asked lots of questions about skin and facials. The person I spoke with at Tru was by far the most patient and knowledgeable, and spent 30 minutes on the phone answering in detail every question. So I booked an appointment and was not disappointed. Both the facial and the waxing were amazingly thorough. The entire experience from walking in the door to walking out again was excellent and exceeded my expectations. I will definitely return and would highly recommend Tru Spa.

5 Stars: WOW!! (by la_petite)

This was by far the best spa experience I have ever had. My Pure facial by Jen was the ultimate! I would highly recommend Tru Spa to anyone looking to have a brief escape from everyday life. The moment you walk through the doors you are pampered and cared for, your stress melts away. On a scale of 1-10 I give Tru Spa a 12! Thank You sooo Much!

5 Stars: Best by Far (by nancypants)

I used to love Bliss and thought they were the standard for spas, but since I moved to SF and tried Tru, I think they are actually better. A little fresher and definitely more personal attention. And as far as the spas in San Francisco, there is no comparison. Tru is a much needed breath of fresh air.

5 Stars: massage bliss!! (by petra55)

I am convinced that this is the best massage spa in the city. The seem to think of everything. Large robes and cedar lockers. Champagne and nice snacks in the comfy waiting room. Aromatherapy and colored light therapy (it must work because I was preternaturally relaxed!). Butter balm which was much nicer than oil. And of course spectacularly talented female therapists, who are very friendly and seem to love their work. My husband loves that he can have a beer in the men's locker room. The only disappointment is that they did not have sauna or steam, but I was told that sweating out your hydration before or after a massage is not a good thing. (?) Anyway, the overall experience was so incredible that the lack of a sauna did not even enter my mind when I left. I am totally spoiled for anyplace else!

3 Stars: GO TO EARTH AND SKY INSTEAD (by milkyaqua)

Maybe they have improved since my visit, but my pedicure wasn't all that great. The chair wasn't that comfortable (I'm all for the techs being comfortable considering what they have to do but there are more comfortable workstations). It's a nice looking spa but as far as nail services go there are better in the city. It's clean and the products are high-end but the process itself was average.

5 Stars: Great Experience (by dburns04)

I had not heard of this spa but they have been open a year. I found them on Citysearch and the site looked nice so I was curious. All I can say is WOW. The place is much nicer than the pics on the site and the people are even nicer than that. The treatments are absolutely amazing. I got the most amazing pedicure during which I sipped a champagne mojito and watched Sex in the City. Also had a massage, which was the best I have had in SF or anywhere else. I am now spoiled and will not go back to my former spa. Tru Spa is a must try!

4 Stars: Rainforest good, massage expensive (by spashop)

The Rainforest scrub is the only one of its type in the world! You get the scrub and then you are left in a rainfall of warm (perfect temperature, not too hot, not too cold) water, then you finish with showering under a "waterfall" and applying shea butter with the scent you prefer. I chose Lemongrass. Amazing!

The massage with light therapy is more for the therapist than you. I keep my eyes closed during the massage so did not feel any benefit from the lights.

They have the massage without the lights, ask for that.

5 Stars: The BEST in SF! (by londonvic)

Went to this spa when on a visit from London, and compared to the spas in Europe, this one was amazing! The service was superb, the staff are friendly and professional, and the facilities were beautiful. I LOVE the way the facials are customized, and far from being a holistic, wishy washy spa, they really care about giving great treatments that work - thorough massages, excellent nail services and the rainforest room body treatments are out of this world. My husband and I will definitely be coming back again on our next trip! Try it for yourself!

There are few words I can use to desribe my experience at Tru Spa. I have had lots of facials, but nothing compares to the oxygen facial that Tru Spa delivers. I had Angela, who was absolutely wonderful, both her personality, skill, and knowledge. The oxygen facial had an amazing effect on my skin. I can't wait to go back for my next one and see if the progress continues. The spa is beautiful, everyone is friendly, and they even bring you champagne! Give Angela a try, you won't be disappointed. I am a TRU convert!

5 Stars: Wish I could do this every week! (by psboston7)

I think this SPA has ruined me for all others. From the time I stepped inside clean facility, professional staff, courteous (non-stuffy) nice waiting room with Champagne, Fresh Fruits & cheeses DE-LISH!! Atmosphere was laid back, quiet never heard another soul in the place outside of my room I was cold... they turned the heat in the room up. I can't speak for the parking since I walked from my hotel. In fact if you are staying in another location, like I was (SPA is in Holiday Inn) I recommend still checking out this location. Personal Locker for your items, I noticed that the staff came in on the regular to collect robes & towels. There was ample products to purchase but no pressure from lobby staff. It is on the expensive side but I think it is in line with the rest of the downtown.

5 Stars: Lives up to the hype (by osrocky)

Having read all the glowing reviews here, I was prepared to like the spa...and I wasn't disappointed. From the moment hubby and I walked in, we felt serene and relaxed. The spa is elegant, sleek, and peaceful. No detail is too small, with the waterfall sinks, double-headed showers, wide magazine selection (all current), snacks, and heated massage tables. They also validate the first 4 hours of parking! As for my treatment (the "Full Monty"), it was heavenly. My therapist was knowledgeable and responsive to my requests...I felt very taken care of and was able to momentarily step out of my usual roles of wife and mom. Now that I've been to Tru, I don't think I could go to any other spa in SF!

From the minute I walked in the door, the staff were friendly and attentive, to the moment I left, laden with fab Ole Henriksen products! My facial with Janell was by far the best I've ever had, and my massage with Rhonda was 'hands down' the best in SF! Loved the champagne, fluffy robes and being looked after from start to finish!
5 Stars: The best spa I've been to so far (by jsbp100)

My entire experience at Tru was absolutely fantastic. It's like a hidden treasure in the middle of the financial district. When you walk into the spa you come into the locker rooms where a waterfall sink and comfy couches await. You get fresh fluffy robes and slippers and anything and everything you can think of that you would need to beautify yourself ( hair straighteners, hair products, skin products, etc.) I was most impressed with all the fruit & cheese plates that you can help yourself to. I was also impressed by their "methods" of making you feel welcomed -- I noticed all therapists put their hand on your back as they lead you into your room. The massage was the best I've had! i will definitely be back to spend a day to enjoy all the facilities.

5 Stars: Best Spa by Far! (by kerryperry1111)

This spa is the BEST in SF by miles! I've been a customer since they opened and they just get better by the minute. I love the way they really take care of you, the staff are AMAZING and the treatments are really something. I love the facials - they really do a thorough cleanse, and the flat screen personal TV's in the nail lounge are an excellent idea. The managers take the bookings so you really get personal attention - you have to try it! A great experience EVERY time!!!!

I am a fan of Tru Spa and have been a few times now and the staff have always been great! I have had amazing massages there, which was why I am disappointed with my visit last week . I was greeted by a male therapist who seemed nice enough, but having rather high expectations of this spa from previous experiences there, I felt the massage was mediocre and certainly not worth $125. I'm not usually one to complain about bad service and maybe this was just a one-time thing?? I hope so...

5 Stars: Bliss West? Better! (by fit2015)

I had heard a lot about this place being "Bliss West", so as a spa junkie who has been to Bliss in New York a few times I thought I would check it out. I was expecting a cheap rip-off, but I was pleasantly surprised. It turns out the owners were high level Bliss executives who left to open Tru. There are a lot of similarities to be sure, but Tru definitely has its own style. Most importantly, though, Tru has the innovative treatments, as well as the "coolness" that Bliss has, but is not the factory that Bliss has become. You get genuine personal attention at every step (the owner answers the phone when you call to book an appointment, where else does that happen!?). If you liked Bliss, or have been lamenting the lack of a world class urban spa in SF, you will LOVE Tru.

5 Stars: Pampering Paradise!! (by chosenone)

Splitting time between SF and LA, I used to think that there were no decent spas in SF. After my first visit to Tru, it is the LA spas that shrink by comparison. Finally a spa that combines vision, forward thinking services, and luxury. But don't be fooled by the cool surroundings, the facial was the best I have ever had. The massage itself was also great (as it should be) and all of the little details before, after, and during the massage made it a superb experience. There are plenty of spas in this town for my grandmother, now there is one for the rest of us! Thank you thank you thank you!

5 Stars: You should try it! (by kittypringle)

After reading the reviews I booked for me & my best friend to have a day at the spa. We had the Moji-toe pedicure which was SO cooool, you can watch DVD's whilst your service is done AND you get a free champagne drink which we both loved. (More next time please!) We had rainforest treatments - the room is awesome and really rains, and the super deluxe About Face facial (divine!) The spa is gorgeous, the staff are friendly and happy, and I am going back soon with my boyfriend for his birthday. (We saw lots of guys having treatments too - the spa is unisex, but keeps the men's waiting area separate (they get free beer!!) which is really cool.) I love it!

5 Stars: The BEST spa in SF!!! (by lushgirrl2004)

This spa is by FAR the best in SF! I have now been 3 times and told all my friends, family & co-workers to go! If you want a spa where people are professional (even when they are busy they are super friendly and take the time to make sure you are ok) and the treatments are terrific then this is the place for you. It's cool, modern and unpretentious; the treatments work, and all the extras are well worth the visit! Yes, you can sometimes be booked with a guy for a massage if you don't specifically request a female therapist, but all the guys seem to be really nice and make you feel comfortable. I LOVE this spa and am looking forward to my next visit. Don't bother going anywhere else!!!!!

5 Stars: Best Spa Experience I Have Ever Had!!! (by little_red_ridding_hood)

Wow!!! My friend bought me a gift certificate for a facial at Tru Spa and let me tell you that was a fantastic gift. Jill, the facialist, was so knowledgeable and the About Face facial was incredibly pampering while also being customized specifically for my skin type. I felt like I had gone on vacation! Afterwards my skin looked dewy, smooth and clean. Jill made me feel so comfortable and the amazing front desk staff educated me on prosucts without pressuring me to buy anything, which was appreciated. Now this is my new monthly ritual. And my skin continues to glow

1 Stars: I do not recommend this spa (by mwatts)

I am extremely disappointed by Truspa. For all the hype, it is very overrated. For a great spa . . . go to Burke Williams down in L.A. instead. Here are my specific disappoinments with Truspa:

First of all, I made an appointment for a female masseuse. When I arrived at the spa, I was unpleasantly surprised to find a male masseur waiting for me. The appointment desk switched masseurs on me w/o letting me know.

Second, the spa was very crowded. It was not very relaxing.

Third, the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. Yet, they acted very arrogantly toward their clientele. I was nice about the masseur switchup. However, there were two other clients who were upset about various mix-ups while I was there. E.g., another client who got a male masseur instead of a request female masseuse.

5 Stars: good massage (by eagle76)

Very good massage. Usually see Jill, but had to go one time when she wasn't working and found that Naja is also excellent. Very surprised, most places don't have any consistency. Don't know if the others are good, but I would definitely recommend these two. Don't bother with the "75", if you can afford the extra $25 go for the Therapy. Way better.

5 Stars: The BEST!!!! (by sfoster711)

Tru is by far the best spa on the West coast, if not in the entire U.S. It makes Bliss in NY look like the YMCA. Everyone at Tru is so nice, knowledgeable and helpful. The treatments are amazing and a good value for a city-based day spa. Few spas are quiet and relaxing with people mingling, going in and out. Tru is able to minimize the traffic so that all its clients feel calm and relaxed. I highly recommend it to both women and men. Instead of shopping on your lunch hour, get a massage here!!!!

3 Stars: Mediocre facial (by papillion)

I had a facial and was disappointed that the esthetician squeezed my face instead of using an extraction tool. The next day, due to the squeesing, parts of my face were irritated and crusted over. Not what I was expecting for $120+!

The ambiance was nice, but I was not keen on the up-sell of additional products...

I went to Tru Spa for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was out of this world. I was treated like a princess, the champagne, the robes, the music.....and of course the massage was the best I have ever had, the massages are longer than usual and the pressure was just right! The girls name was laila, if you are ever there ask for her she was amazing! They certainly have won me :-) I can't wait to go back!

5 Stars: Best Wax & Mani-Pedi!!! (by lolitasf)

You have to try the Mojito Pedicure (served with a delicious mojito-I had two! Housekeeping is so attentive there)
Delina gives and awesome massage-perfect shaping-and she was even patient when I couldn't make up my mind about nail color. I love the parafin wax they use and all the pampering is amazing. The Vanilla Sky is terrific-I love the milk and cinnamon hand soak.

Kathryn is the best waxer EVER! I hate brazilians-do it because I have to, but it is realy painless-and she talked the whole time-I didn't even realize it was over! She is awesome. Plus-gave me great advice to take some motrin or a few advils and there would be very little soreness/pain. She is skilled and professional. An most of all-getting a painless brazilian is priceless!

I am so happy with my services!

5 Stars: Excellent! (by kwalker1977)

Best Massge I have had in SF. Jill is amazing. 75 minutes is the perfect amount of time. So glad someone figured out that "hour" massages trimmed to 50 minutes aren't long enought to get relaxed. The light/aromatherapy is well worth the price of admission. Cool place, lots of pampering. Perfect for afterwork from the financial district. Can't wait to go back!!!

Tried the Jungle Love & Pulp Fiction treatments to date..and both equally amazing. My skin has never felt so smooth.
I have also had the facials here and the massage. They are really THE BEST IN SF! I love that the massages are 75 & 105 minutes (I hate being rushed off at other places at 55 minutes when you pay for an hour)

5 Stars: The Best Spa In SF-hands down! (by sleeplessinsf)

Not only is the staff skilled-(you must see Jen-a perfectionist!)
I had the About Face-great massage-great extractions-alert & she paid attention-it was so relaxing while being thorough. She did two passes with microderm-I got a hydrating mask and some needed home care advice.
What also really makes it an exceptional spa is the managment staff. Their attention to detail is seen in everything from the champagne & brownies-to the professionalism in the staff and the friendly front desk.

A friend told me about this place so I went there for a facial. Best one I have ever had. Jennifer is the BEST. Waxing is quick, painless, and thorough.
Great facial-had the Tru O2-it left my face feeling so great (I have had facial before-my skin is sensitive-and this was terrific!)
I also indulged in the 75 minute massage-again-so relaxing-she had to peel me off the table!

5 Stars: FINALLY! SF has a real spa! (by mshelly)

I heard that the people here were from Bliss in NY, so I had pretty high expectations, but WOW! To my surprise, this place is way better than Bliss. The space is amazing, but the best part is the service, which is really personal and attentive. Everyone was superfriendly. The oxygen facial was by far the best I have ever had. (if you are looking for a spa in SF that actually spends time on extractions, this is it). The two massages I have had are easily the best I have had in SF. Can't wait to try the rainforest room! Overall, it just seems like every detail was well thought out. The facial and massage prices are pretty reasonable considering how long the treatments are. It's about time SF had a spa like this.

Everything was great about the spa; they even serve you some champagne.. the only thing that I didn't like about it was the price.. it is defintely on the pricier side, but once in a while, they have promotions. I tried the Tru02 facial and it was pretty nice.
Oh yeah, they don't have a jacuzzi or steam room... and you can park at the Holiday Inn hotel for $5 flat fee with validation

I will definitley be back to TRU. What a terrific spa experience. The facial by Janelle was hands down the best facial ever. I had the Tru02 facial. The oxygen really felt incredible and helped calm my skin. My skin is usually marked and blotchy after a facial, but not today. My skin was glowing and hydrated. Not only was the facial terrific, but I had an excellent pedicure while watching sex and the city reruns! The brownies and champagne just put the experience over the top!

5 Stars: Tru-ly An Incredible Spa (by sexinthecity)

I am converted. I have been to a lot of other places in SF. This is hands down the best spa I have been to yet. Got the "About Face"-great microderm-peel-mask-parafin hands-massage-thorough cleansing. It is worth it. It includes all those things other spas charge you extra for. I also splurged and got the TruTherapy 105 massage. Not only was it a little more than 105 minutes-not only was it completely relaxing-he worked every tense inch of my tense spots, not only was it incredible -IT'S ALSO 40%OFF!!!(my 1st visit) I will definately be back-and I highly recommend it!

5 Stars: you have to try the rainforest room! (by nyctosf)

I have been to Tru many times before-It is THE BEST SPA IN SF. It truly is! But I have never tried the rainforest room till yesterday. I had the "Jungle Love" trestment. Real coconut sugar scrub-shea butter massage-fruit enzyme mask-steam-rainfall then a water fall! My skin has never felt better. If was completely relaxing-totally indulgent and absolutely worth it.
BTW- the whole spa is great. From the front desk-professional and personable-to their housekeeping-attentive-champagne-flip flops & a plush robe-to the technicians (Kimayatta-Jen-Paul-Tina & Jeremy-The BEST!)-everything is a TRU-ly great experience

Craig is terrific! He sets the tone for a wonderful experience. Kimayatta gives THE best wax ever. I am a pain-wuss and I swear-the brazillian-NOT PAINFUL. Her eyebrow shaping is also fantastic. Her personality combined with her skill is really exceptional.
Tina is spectacular on nails. She is a perfectionist-and does an impeccable job.
Don't go anywhere else-you'd just be wasting your money.

5 Stars: finally...a REAL SPA (by yourealoser)

I had the Tru105 massage with Paul. I love the fact that they don't do 55minute massages like everywhere else.
When you walk in you realize it's not like everywhere else. I was handed slippers-offered champange and water. The waiting room was filled with fruit, cheese, crackers & brownies.
(it's the thoughtfulness in everything they do that I appreciate..what sets them apart)
NO hippie incense smell or annoying fountain noise.
What I really appreciated was the lack of other noise. You couldn't hear other treatments going on, other people talking, the front desk answering other calls. (Have you been to "Therapia"...that's all you hear)
The massage itself was great. He was focused, attentive, payed attention to sore spots.

5 Stars: Best brazilian wax! (by ellbell)

I've been searching around the city for a great Brazilian wax and I've finally found it at Tru... Kimyatta is excellent! She's knows her stuff when it comes to techniques and products plus she's friendly and hilariously funny! I gotta say, I didn't feel a thing...it was painless and effortless!

5 Stars: Tru Spa (by alexberline)

I have had massages all over San Francisco and this was by far the best.I got the tru therapy relxing massage. I am surprised people would choose another spa. The truth is there is nothing like tru anywhere in the city. If you are a man you will get a great massage. If you are a women you can hang out, eat chocolate and get a great facial and then a glass of champagne to end your spa experience.

My wife said she will never go anywhere else!

5 Stars: BY FAR THE BEST....... (by jeanmay999)

I don't think there is another spa in San Francisco that can offer the same service that I have recieved at Tru. I have gone all over the city, and I have to say by far Tru is the best. The TruO2 facial and TruTherapy massage are unbelievable. I left the service feeling like I was outside of my body. Almost like I was floating. I can't capture with words how happy and satisifed I am with my experience.

5 Stars: Extremely happy (by johnnyo1407)

I have been to literally over 80 spas world wide and thought that I had seen it all until I walked into Tru Spa in San Francisco. Nothing compares to this place in its design or service. If you are a spa regular in the San Fran area dont wait, make your appointment now because you wont be able to get in there as soon as the word gets out!

5 Stars: I have been waiting for a spa like this! (by jennycoan)

The staff at this gorgeous new spa are very friendly and extremely talented at what they do. I had come in for a TruTherapy massage and a TruO2 facial and was blown away. The massage was deep muscle and I felt fabulous afterwards. The color light therapy during the massage was such a wonderful addition!
The facial was focused on deep cleansing and rejuvenation with the help of oxygen and a deeply relaxing massage. By far, the best facial I have ever had.
Looks like I have a new place to get my facials and massages! I highly reccommend this spa.

5 Stars: Tru-ly Amazing! (by chloes)

I can't rave enough about the fabulous facials at Tru Spa. Not only is the spa the most beautiful and elegant setting, but my facial was the most relaxing and therapeutic treatment I've ever had. Every detail was taken into consideration. My skin has never felt or looked this good. The expert esthetician I had customized the facial for my specific skin issues and also helped me with my product purchases without being pushing. They carry all of the best, hard to find product lines as well.

I'm going back next week for a massage, which I have heard is unbelievable.

The location is unusual (borders Chinatown and the Financial District) but it actually works to their benefit. The parking is great (right in the building) and it was so convenient.

My advise is to try Tru Spa. They are doing something right!

5 Stars: Fantastic Spa! (by victoriayoung)

Ths spa is beautiful and modern, matched by the friendliness and professional service of the staff. This is the kind of place I have been looking for! Great location, and the facials are fabulous. I left my treatment with glowing skin (their Tru 02 facial is the best!), groovy products, and a re-booking with three of my friends. Go see!
