Friends told us about El Jardin and how they say it's their favorite Mexican Restaurant. It is now our favoirite as well. Stuffed Sopapilla and Chimichangas are so big we always have to take half home and eat it for lunch the next day.

We like to try new restaurants and we googled "top rated mexican restaurant" in our zip. El Jardin was our pick and we don't regret it! Amazing food, best service (Thanks Danny!) and very affordable - especially for the quality of food. The Sopaipilla's are the best!

...and dining only once at El Jardin will spell it out for you: all-in-the-family. This family owned restaurant of nearly 30 years in Commerce City is superb. Not many restaurants can claim that kind of staying power. This one claims it with pride of ownership and delivers the goods. The parking lot is always full (don't worry, more next door!) and you are likely to be greeted by not only a gracious waittress (yeah! Emily) but also by owner Ben. You'll want to come back, and you will be glad you did! Thanks to Ben and his staff for their hard work...it shows!

I read a review that I had to try El Jardin and that they had some of the best mexican food around. After I tried them I have been hooked! I tell everyone at work to go there and have gotten many of them hooked! By far the best, hottest green chile I have ever had!

El Jardin was recommended to us by friends as the best place to go for Mexican food in Denver. Though it is a bit further away than we normally go (only 15 minutes really, but in the opposite direction), we decided to give it a try. Boy, are we glad we did. This is by far the best Mexican Restaurant we have enjoyed since our trip to Tucson many years ago.

The food is fantastic, the service is always great, and Ben (the owner) is frequently hopping from table to table to check in to see if there is any way he can make your dining experience even better. If you make a second trip, Ben and the wait staff are sure to consider you family and greet you by name on subsequent visits.

I love my green chile spicy and this place isn't afraid to turn up the heat - unlike so many other places that warn you that the food is spicy, but rarely deliver. Don't fear though if you're don't want your food too spicy, there are plenty of other delicious offerings that cater to the mainstream, normal guests. (Yes, I am considering myself abnormal when it comes to liking my food really spicy).

I wish I could comment on the full menu first hand, but the "Large Combination", including a bean burrito, cheese/onion enchilada, beef taco, and bean tostada, is so good and offers such variety, that to order anything else is out of the question for me. So good.
My family tells me the rest of the menu items are great as well, but I am just a creature of habit, ... I mean, why mess with a good thing?

Don't forget to order a margarita - you'll be glad you did!

Just go! I promise you won't find any better in the Denver area.

El Jardin is close to where I work in Commerce City, and my coworkers and I go at least once a week. They have the best mild green chili I've tasted since I came to the Denver area over 7 years ago, and their salsa is terrific too. The others like their chili HOT, and that option seems to please them as well. Ben, the owner, is a master at customer relations, and sends funny emails, coupons, and even mails me stuff, along with having "community" specials - such as discount prices when the Bronos won their first few games last season. The staff is wonderful, and recognizes us when we come in. They treat us like family, and are some of the most friendly servers I've encountered. I love this place, and if I didn't live 27 miles away I'd go for dinner too! Can't wait for the $2.07 burritos when they win Channel 7's A-List again this year. Way to go, Ben and staff! You're the BEST!

We moved out here from California 3 years ago and were fortunate enough to have El Jardin almost in our backyard, their food is excellent. Staff is very friendly, and are always on top of things (like when you need a refill, etc). Highly recommend them for your dinner, and especially their catering and banquet room. Have your next wedding reception there!

Thanks Ben!

El Jardin is a great place to eat Mexican food. Their food is affordable, their sevice is decent and their food is good. We like to go and meet our friends there to eat. We have always been treated with respect and the waiters and waitresses know us and remember things about us, like what we like to drink. Go and enjoy them.

We love 5280 restaurant week....and when our friends took us out to celebrate 5280 at El Jardin we couldn't believe the deal! 4 margs, 4 orders of fajitas, appetizer and dessert? Were you kidding me? This by far and away was the best deal ever...not only was the price unbelieveable, but the food and service was top notch!

Julio was our server and he made our night out that much more enjoyable. If you dine there I highly recommend that you request Julio to be be your server, he will make your experience very memorable. We're from south Aurora and the 20 plus minute drive is well worth it!

We tried this restaurant this weeked after hearing it on the radio. WHAT??? You have to be kidding me!The chili and beans tasted like they were out of a can. And the 100% guarantee that our meal is free if we were not satisfied. I would not eat here again if they were giving it away for FREE! Very disappointed with this place. We traveled 8 miles to eat here and for what? We would of had a better meal at Taco Bell. We paid 40 dollars for something that tastes worse then dog meat. Don't let the nice ambience from the outside fool you. You will regret everything the minute you walk in the door.

Pros: Looks nice as far as the decorations and outside of the restaurant.

Cons: Don't let all the radio hype fool you

El Jardin is an excellent place to go for good authentic Mexican cooking. Yes some of the hot Chile is on a different scale, ask if Arturo's cooking, but the food tastes amazing!

My family loves El Jardin. I was reading these posts and PKYPKY doesn't have a clue what he/she is talking about. This is by far the BEST Mexican food in Colorado. We have had nothing but professional customer service and they really care. The specials are good deals with $2 burrito days, and top quality. I own a business and I know you can't make everyone happy, and realize that not every business is perfect. My suggestion to everyone is to try it yourself. This restaurant is wonderful and me, my husband, kids and extended families love it. One of our favorites is the Fajita Burrito supreme...YUMMY! The only bummer is that we have to drive a little bit out of the way to get there, but it is WELL worth it. The parking can be tough on a busy night, but I guess that goes to show you that if they are full, then they must be good! I highly recommend El Jardin!

My husband & his family (& recently our family)have been patronizing this establishment since the mid 70's. Needless to say it has changed a lot over the years.

The one thing that has not changed though is the food.

By far one of the if not THE best place to get real refried beans. Not to mention the chile rellenos are out of this world. I always try to get something different each time I go but can't help being drawn back to the rellenos. I have gone to dozens of Mexican restaurants TRYING to find a GOOD rellenos so I don't even bother now that I've found El Jardin. I really have no idea what the review below mine is talking about when he rants about "extras". My relleno meal comes with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream & black olives. Sorry, but I have a hard time believing that they were charged extra. I can't offer an explanation honestly.

The prices have changed over the years. Recently the price of the food & the drinks have risen @ El Jardin. I did however find a way to combat that. El Jardin offers a "discount card" that I signed up for. I'm not sure exactly how it works but I figured it was worth a try.

This establishment has two areas now a days as well. The main restaurant has changed in size but not quality. Unlike some other restaurants I've frequented, there is plenty of room to move about freely without the fear of upsetting another patron's meal.

The second area is actually a dining hall that can be rented out for special occasions. (it even comes equipped with a wooden dance floor) I usually choose to dine here if I have my extended family with me just to be courteous to the other patrons who may not want to hear us chatter. I can see how someone may not find this area as appealing. However, I have always been asked by the staff what my preference was in seating.

There is always plenty of parking & the staff have always been attentive when I have frequented this establishment. In my humble opinion, every restaurant has a bad day too. I live out of town & whenever we are in town we eat here because we can't find a decent Mexican restaurant where we live.

My husband and I ate at a place called Los Pinos Monday of last week. It was absolutely fantastic. I had the steak and avocado burrito that melted in my mouth. He had a combination of sorts that was equally wonderful.

Upon mentioning this to his friend, the friend insisted we try this great place in Commerce City, "El Jardin".

I was sooo disappointed. I actually made it a point to write a bad review when I got a chance. So I get online today to write my reviews and to my disbelief you were ranked number one on City Search last year! What happened?

The service was awful, my empty glass of iced tea sat on the edge of the table 90% of the time, was finally refilled by another waitress after I had to flag my own server down to ask for one.

Atleast seven employees (2 bussboys, 4 waitresses, and I assume the owner (your picture is hanging in he entry way) all walked by, some more that others and glanced at the empty glass a few times but didn't ask or offer a refill.

No one asked how the meal was, but the owner/manager was awfully busy with some obvious regulars gossiping about the events of the previous Friday night.

Now to the worst part. I was shocked to see the prices, $13.99 for the burrito, no rice, no beans, no cheese. Extra $1.69 for lettuce and tomatoes, plus $1.69 for rice, and again $1.69 for beans. When did you actually start getting away with charging for what used to be included (and in most restaurants still is) in a decent meal. That's the price of a steak dinner! Atleast I'd get the steak and not the grizzly dried up pieces of jerky I received in a tortilla covered with green chile.

Understandably, if you want a decent meal, you have to pay a fair price. Maybe you should go to Los Pinos and try their steak and avocado burrito.

The food was average (pretty much the same stuff you find at On the Border, less creative), the margaritas were average (with very few choices), the atmosphere was lacking (I felt like I was in a warehouse). I haven't tried many home-grown places in Denver yet, but I would think there is a better "Best in Denver" mexican place than this. If it's near you and you're curious, maybe try it, but it's not worth the drive if you live in central or southern Denver. Considering all the hype, El Jardin was very disappointing.

The staff was great, though!

Our first visit was last night and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the decor and the food.
The green chile was hot, in fact I should have ordered the medium, it was to hot for me, but
very tasty. The best part of the evening was the dessert. We had their homemade FLAN which was AWESOME...We have had FLAN at many Mexican restaurants, but this by far and away was the best.

We tried this spot a few months ago after reading the reviews on it here. We waited to get seated while waitresses ran around like crazy. We waited forever to give our order. When it finally came, bland. Bland green chili, cold, mushy food, just not good. Too bad, the ambience is neat and it looks like an authentic place from the outside. I wish I knew that if we didn't like our meal it was free, I think we paid close to $30.

Question: Why doesn't anyone make good mexican food anymore? We want tacos like you find in Southern Calif, but just can't find them other than Mexico City (see my review).

Pros: Looks nice as far as the decorations and outside of the restaurant.

Cons: Slow service, bland mexican food.

Wonderful atmosphere; I love the decor, music, and tv channels they choose! They have excellent customer service because everyone checks to see what you need, not just the waitress assigned to you! We are always on the lookout for authentic Mexican food and this place does a great job. I just wish the prices were lower so we could afford to drop by more often! I recommend the Indian tacos!!!

when i had my tennis banquet i had to take snack that i thought everyone would enjoy. No doubt in my mind it would be the queso dip. we took four orders and it was devoured. then we had to tell everyone where we had got it from. And we said only the best restaurant around El Jardin!

Wow! I am writing a review for the first time for any reason. I felt this one deserved my time and attention. I am a rather simple food pleasure person, but the "tacos" and the fantastic "green chili" at El Hardin needs the entire metro Denver populace's attention. I had a wonderful meal and enjoyed everything beyond compare. I enjoyed hearing the comments of people from tables around me who were enjoying some very sophisticated seafood dishes. You need to check this wonderful restaurant out, and maybe you will see me, because I definitely will return, time and time again. Beverly VanDeWeghe

What a find this restaurant was, thanks to a friend who recommended it. We just moved from Chicago and have been on the search for the best of each ethnic restaurant. El Jardin is the winner for Mexican! The service has been very friendly and attentive each time we have gone. What brings us back though is definitely the food, and for my husband also the margaritas which he really enjoys. The menu offers quite a variety of food, sure to please all tastes, and specials every night of the week. What can I say but the food is delicious and that is why we keep returning! Now that the weather is nice also, it is great to eat outside on the patio.

We moved here from New Mexico last year, and we were desperate to find a great Mexican restaurant. After a few disappointments, we found El Jardin! The food is great, and I'm still working my way through the extensive menu. The staff is always attentive and friendly. When we are in a hurry, they are always willing to move things along, and when we aren't rushing, they are still attentive 2 hours later (sorry guys!)
