A sweet, delicious and cute experience! My best girlfriend took me here my first time a few years ago and everytime I return to New York, I make a stop here regardless of the price.

Chika and her husband Don are nice and it's super fun to watch them prepare your desserts if you happen to sit at the dessert bar. The experience here is unique in that you get to select a prix fixe menu of desserts and everything is placed and plated beautifully on the most exquisite tea and china plates.

The Cheese Cake and the Warm Chocolate Tart are usuals on the menu and they are consistently good. Because I love panna cotta, the panna cotta choice is usually my favorite.

Their teas and sweet wine pairings are also delicious. Chikalicious is an experience well worth the experience. A great place to go on a date or with your best girlfriend!

For a quick pick-up, visit the shop across the street. They have the most delectable cupcakes, cookies and ice cream treats!

"Open-kitchen" dessert service. You see the chef cut strips of marshmallow before your very eyes, roll them in coconut, and put them in little plastic containers. It might not be for your order specifically, but this sort of entertainment is an added bonus to what is already a great artisan dessert experience. Don't expect to be gorged with a mammoth wedge of pie here; don't expect to feel very full at all. This is palate-driven dessert, not appetite-driven dessert, so going in with that expectation will help you immensely. The tastes are sublime, never too sweet, always satisfying, always complex.

Best to go mid-afternoon, before "dinner" time, to avoid the dreaded line out the door, and to really savor the experience. Definitely choose a spot at the bar rather than a table. Seeing Chika and her staff at work is at least half the experience.

Heaven may just be this little spot in the East Village where husband and wife team, Don and Chika Tillman, formerly of Gramercy Tavern, plate pretty confections with sushi-like precision as diners look on. Fourteen dollars buys a dessert…
