Don't go anywhere else! I've had so many crappy experiences at the ""Nail Vista"" type places, i vowed to do my own nails for the rest of my life. That lasted a couple of months, then i wanted a ""treat"". Sugarcoat was just what I was looking for. The great part? even though it's gorgeous and the service impeccable, it was not outrageously over priced. It's my new regular spot! Yay!

This place is not good at all. First of all there is no where to park. The ladies that work there are not friendly at all. You can go just down the street to Post Salon and get better service for a cheaper price. They need to get better parking and more space. This place SUCKS!

Sugarcoat is my favorite nail salon in Atlanta. I have been a loyal fan for the past 5 years. I love the signature pedicure, it's awesome!!! \r
Customer service is always great, love that the salon is super clean and they carry the latest nail colors from Essie & OPI.

I love Sugarcoat and love the customer service and the technicians that work there. The salon maybe small but service is always impeccable!!!! I love the chic boutique feel of my favorite nail salon. The salon does get busy on the weekend, sometimes I have to wait for the valet but it's never more than 5 minutes. He was probably getting cars for other clients. BEST Nail Salon in Atlanta and definitely the cleanest and most convenient for me, I love the valet service. I don't go anywhere else.

Not worth my time. The parking is horrible even when a huge valet sign is present...but NO valet. The salon s extremely small my daughter's room is way bigger than this place. It is very cramped and not relaxing at all. Not sure who the owner is but everyone was very blah and did nothing to make me feel comfortable or that my business was even wanted so I didn't give it. My first and last time.

It's amazing how sour ex-employees would go to sabotage perfectly well-established business. I have been going to this nail salon for the last 2 years and I must admit, it has seen a lot of changes from different owners and staff. But I also have to confess that it's been a pleasure going to Sugarcoat lately due to the new owner. The place is a lot cleaner and the new staff is great! I know the inside story because I became a friend with the owner and she told me what actually happened. People should just get over themselves and start thinking what they need to improve their skills and marketability to have higher chance of getting a job. Don't expect people to give you free stuff, you actually have to work for it:)! Anyhow, I sincerely believe you will not be disappointed by getting your nails done here, because I know I'm completely happy with my nails:)

Just another typical asian nail salon that you have to watch out for. I was a client their Nov. 19th & too my surprise State Board walked in and told everyone not to move in the middle of my service. Sugarcoat had unlicensed asian worker's their performing nail & waxing services on clients. They also were using rusty metal tools on client's as well State Board had fined them and told them that the unlicensed worker's can not return. But a friend of mine had a gift certificate that she wanteds to use up today Nov.20th and said that the same worker's are still thier they disregarded what State Board had informed them to do about the unlicensed worker's. And come to fine out the owner of Sugarcoat performs services on client's with out a nail technician license as well. I for one will not spend my money their again

No business is perfect. Some are better than others. Some comply and some don't with state rules and regulations. It is what it is. You make your choice.

I've been to a lot of nail salons and we all know how the typical ones run. Just rushing and waiting for service. However, for the typical ones they are really cheap, so you get what you pay for. At Sugarcoat, I was hoping for a different experience. I see that the newer decor is in style with newer nail salons now, but I liked that Sugarcoat looked more clean and fresh. But it was different then I had imagined.

My foot massage was too short and it was just as if the nail tech hated her job. For $45, I was expecting to be relaxed and my polish to last a very long time. It only lasted a day. It was lifting near my cuticle and peeling. I could have saved 20 bucks by going somewhere else.

I simply love this nail & beauty bar! I live in NYC; however, when I??m in the Atlanta area this salon is first on my list of places to visit. The staff is incredibly friendly; they carry all the latest colors?not to mention the sugar scrub pedicure is simply amazing! The dcor is modern and everything is sterile and clean. I highly recommend you stop and pay this charming salon a visit.

I LOVE Sugarcoat. The girls are great and I refer ALL of my friends. Once they go they are hooked. They love the experience and the atmosphere. I love the friendly service and the fact that I can get my Essie and OPI polishes all in one spot. Peiru is just the best and she is very passionate about her business and taking care of her clients.

As a guy it was definitely a very girlie place. Don't get me wrong, the services were great and the staff was very friendly, but this is definitely better suited for a girl's night out. As a guy's guy that i consider myself, i will definitely bring the wifey with me next time.

This is a hidden gem in Buckhead. The new owner was very accomodating for our party of four, and even kindly surprised my friend with a cake for her fortieth birthday! The staff is super friendly. The facility is clean and cutely decorated. We had a blast and plan to visit again soon!

The salon is beautiful and the staff friendly. Parking is easy and the location is great. However, the treatment was rushed and I did not feel ""relaxed"". My nails have bubbles and pealing in the polish only 16 hours after the treatment. I hate manicures and when I pay for them I expect them to last more than 24 hours! The tech doing the treatment was choppy and rushed. The seats although pretty are not at all comfortable. \r
\r
For the price I should have gone to a hole in the wall and gotten a much better leg massage but the atmosphere would not be nearly as nice! I paid $66 with tip and treatmeant and I will not go back.

I've been to many nails salons and this one was a different treat. The main draw was that it didn't smell like a nail salon...so I got to take my fiance' with me. Very friendly manicurists (didn't get their names), bright and clean place. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded. The pedicure itself was average, though.

I have been to Sugarcoat many times for my manicures and pedicures... I never have polish put on my fingernails as my hands are constantly in water so it does not last very long... and as I was explaining this to my technician, she told me about a new product they have called ""shellac"" which is a nail polish that stays on your nails forever... I was a bit skeptical, but for just a couple dollars more I figured I would give it a try. I am so thankful I did because my nails still look flawless two weeks after my manicure... no chipping, no dulling of the color.... just brilliant looking nails! I am so amazed at how well this product works... and for anyone who has had the same problem I had, you MUST try this... it is nothing less than amazing! Sugarcoat not only has the best customer service, but the best products! So worth spending the extra couple dollars.... trust me :)

This is by far the best nail salon in the city. All natural - no harsh chemicals used. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is relaxing. I love it.

I never liked getting my nails done before finding out about Sugarcoat because of all the nasty fumes you find in your typical nail salons, and the you know what's migrating in water basins. Sugarcoat just changed my entire perception on beauty parlors. When you walk in Sugarcoat, you are greeted with happy faces and clean shiny surfaces. Clean scent in the air, just a happy place to be. They didn't reuse any filers (each customer gets their own brand new pack) and all the metal tools are sanitized hospital grade, so my germ-phobia self was put to ease. I was concerned about the other posts about their customer service, well I didn't experience that because come to find out, IT IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! The lady in charge is very cute, courteous and friendly. I didn't book for an appointment, but she was happy to work me in their busy schedule. Thank you Sugarcoat for pampering me and making me look so beautiful! I will tell all my friends about this place!

A group of 12 or 13 of us recently went to this salon, and there are not enough words to describe how disappointed we were by the end of our experience. We were prepared ahead of time that it would be more expensive than other salons, but we were expecting to get a great mani/pedi for our money. We were sadly mistaken.\r
\r
First of all, the nail techs were all arriving late after our scheduled start time. Then a couple customers walked in off the street and were seen while they only took a few girls from our party back. We asked why we had to pay for the ""close down"" fee but it obviously was not closed down to the public. The manager said that fee was imposed for a large group, regardless of if they actually closed the store. He was very short and cold.\r
\r
When we finally did get our mani/pedis, the bench and pillows were very uncomfortable compared to the huge massage chairs you would get at other salons. The nail techs hardly spent any time scrubbing, massaging, or detailing the cuticles; it was like they basically just painted our nails.\r
\r
Overall, the sinks and floors just looked dirty and old. The techs all went at different paces and it got down to just one girl from our party being left at the end. When it was all said and done, we had paid nearly $70 (gratuity and ""close down fee"" included) for a very crappy experience. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone and hope it gets new management soon.

I was thinking about booking a mani/pedi party at Sugarcoat the day before my upcoming wedding for all my bridesmaids, Mom, cousins, etc. I thought I would check it out with a friend first. I am glad I did. I called and made an appointment for 5:45 and told them we would try and get there but might be a little late. They said that was fine but that they would need a credit card to hold the appointments. I inquired about the cancellation policy and they told me 24 hours notice or I would be charged. Working for a small business myself, I understand that they can't hold spots and miss out on other clients and then not get paid. So I gladly gave him my credit card information to hold our spots. We got there at 5:54pm. They told us that one of us could only have either a mani or pedi since we were late. So I offered to just take the manicure so my friend could get both services. They started my manicure while my friend sat and waited....and waited....and waited. It soon became clear they gave one of our appointments away to a walk-in customer so I asked to speak to the manager. I explained that I paid to hold the spots and did not understand why they had not even started the mani/pedi for my friend. (not to mention that logic dictates if one person is getting a mani/pedi and the other person only a mani; it is probably best to start the mani/pedi first). He was the one I spoke with on the phone so I reminded him that I told him we might be running a little late and he said that was fine. At that point, he said they tried to call us but the line was busy. Not true since I have call waiting on my cell phone, which was the number I gave them. Further, there was no record of their ""attempted call."" The manager told me it was my fault for being late and that we must have had a misunderstanding. No apology. No attempt to fix the situation or offer to make other appointments. I was really dumbfounded since I told them I was planning on booking a party with 8 delux mani/pedis the day before my wedding. It was clear the people working there were dying to end their work day and were not willing to stay one extra minute overtime. I basically just paid $17 for half of a manicure at that point and we left and went somewhere else. Needless to say, I found another place to book my pre-wedding party. If someone isn't willing to at least be polite to someone who wants to book over $600 worth of services, I can't bring myself to return. Too bad because the place is cute and would have been perfect for the group party I had in mind. What a bummer!

Bought a certificate for a wedding shower, she seemed to love this place. Apparently it turned out to be a big girls day out spa day. Staff is super friendly and very informative to someone who knows absolutely nothing about manis and pedis (as they called it).

Pros: Right in the middle of buckhead, complimentary valet

.

I split my ""Spa Time"" between this place and Natural Body Spa in Peachtree Battle. They are a little pricey but the vibe and service is worth the extra cost.

Ok, I have walked by this place so many times and never went in! But I finally got a really cute gift certificate from my boyfriend for valentines day. It covered a fantastic manicure and pedicure, my nail tech Bradley (which is a girl) was the best I have ever had so nice, and cute, my polish (which was dark on my feet) was perfect. I can't believe that I subjected myself to other salons and their unsanitary conditions to just be unimpressed with the service. Oh, and the hours for the working woman are perfect -- open til 8pm on some nights! Ask for Bradley she will massage your stress away and you will leave feeling like a new woman.

Sugarcoat is my favorite place to pamper myself while on a budget. At $44 the Essential Mani/Pedi is a deal - especially since I don't have to worry about getting a nasty and dangerous bacterial infection from the unsanitary practices common to many quick-and-cheap nail salons. If you've never heard about this danger, just ask around!

Sugarcoat's salon is stunning and serene. The technicians are fun and friendly and do a beautiful job. My mani/pedis last for weeks. Take note, Saturdays are busy. But making an appointment is easy! You can even do it via email!

This is a beautiful place to come for manicures and pedicures. However, looks are not enough when it comes to 5star customer service.

I chose to come here after a celebrity friend of mine told me about it. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 4:00 p.m., when a rude and staff member informed they could not do my Mani, "they had no more appointments for the day," with out asking me if I would like to schedule an appointments for another day or even apologize for my convenience.

Saturday hours at 9am-6pm!!

In addition, there was approximately 4 guest in the salon. I did not understand why there ''was not any appointments for the day available.''

In this economy why would a nail bar refuse a client, to begin with.

I am a Buckhead veteran I have told my entire community, friends, and family about how terribly managed this place is.

I love Sugarcoat. The nail techs are so friendly and love to chit-chat! The owners are super sweet. The only thing I would change is their polish selection; more colors please!
Prices are just right and pedis last for an hour!

Took my daughter for her birthday. Arrived an hour early with no problem. Even if they hadn't been able to take us early, there are shops to go to. Technicians were friendly and professional. They made sure that we were comfortable. It is a cute little nail place. They spoke english!!!! They didn't mind having a conversation with us but also didn't seem to mind when my daughter and I spoke just to each other. They're just regular people. Not stuck up snobs. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

What a great place! So cute AND CLEAN! I've been going there for some time! Always satisfied! Gets really busy and crowded sometimes but that's when it's most fun because you get to socialize with cool people. Definitely not a spa(that's for the the person who wrote a review before me, please educate yourself and look up the word spa in the dictionary before you write something and make fool of yourself! Obviously you work for one of the competitor salons who just can't handle the competition!) I just can't stand phony people Bashing my favorite nail place! PEACE

On a whim I decided to treat myself to a pedicure and since I'm leaving town for Christmas in a few days I needed to find somewhere fast. My usual place in Atlantic Station didn't have any appointments, nor did my other place in Buckhead so I chose to go here. I'd heard about it before, perhaps in one of those DailyCandy emails, and thought that it looked like a great place. I knew as soon as I walked in the door that I should have walked right back out. I know they like the colors pink and white, but when you paint something entirely white you need to clean it. I was just barely shown where the magazines and the nail colors were, no one offered me something to drink (standard practice in any good spa), and I wasn't quite sure where to sit. When I asked the girl at the desk pointed vaguely in the outward direction so I sat on the cushions along the windows, which were white and not clean. When I was called for my appointment I knocked into the women seated on either side of me because it's cramped... no individual chairs, just one long cushion with those ""husband"" things to lean on. The foot towels looked like dirty kitchen towels: disgusting & stained! The girl kept yanking on my legs & feet instead of giving me any verbal direction. You could tell that no one ever scrubs the floor or the moldings on the walls... it all looked like it hadn't been cleaned since they opened. My toe polish looks great, but everything else I could have done for myself at home at the same skill level and not paid over $40 + tip. The icing on the cake is when I had to sit in another plastic chair for my toes to dry with a little fan. The girl who did my appointment never bothered to tell me that my paint should be dry... she left while I was still having my feet blasted to death with cold air. If I had an AmEx card I'd charge back the service because the set-up is subpar and I've never even wanted to do that.

I was surprised to see the negative comments when I came to Citysearch to write a review of Sugarcoat. My experience was nothing short of fantastic. My nail tech was chipper and talkative, and gave a great massage. I went for a pedi almost a month ago and my polish still looks amazing...except my toenails are now too long. I met one of the owners and she was cute and sweet. I wouldn't let the previous bitter (and misspelled) reviews sway me from returning.

Firstly, I left in plenty of time to make the appointment time, but because Pharr Rd's sign was down I ended up getting lost trying to find Sugarcoated. I called the Salon and told them where I was in the hopes they would be able to direct me to their location. This was a false hope. I spoke to no less then 3 different people, all of which directed me farther away from Sugarcoated. When my good friend got there she got a customer to help direct me, since the staff was completely unhelpful and just irritated at me.\r
\r
When I finally got to Sugarcoated, the manager lady told me they could not do the mani because I was late. This was understandable so I wasn't too fussy. Then when I told them I wanted a French pedi, the nail painter threw a fit. It was 45 minutes until they closed but apparently that wasn't enough time. The manager forced the nail painter to paint mine the way I wanted. If I had been refused, I would have just gone elsewhere.\r
\r
The nail painter had the worst attitude the whole time and gave me the most expensive pedi they had instead of what i asked for orginally when I made the appointment. \r
\r
When I left with my friend, my friend told me that the manager had been talking bad about me the whole time I was lost. I couldnt believe how rude she was acting to a paying costumer and completely unprofessional. My friend said the manager said things like, ""If she isn't here in 5 minutes, then I'm going to refuse her service."" and ""I can't believe she can't find this place (with a mocking tone)."" \r
\r
Also my friend used her GPS and still was 5 minutes late and they told her they couldnt do the manicure, only the pedicure because of her tardiness.\r
\r
Overall, the staff and manager are completely unhelpful. They did an ok job on my nails but I would rather spend my money at a business that appreciates my money and business. Do not go and have the awful experience. Steer clear!

I have my new nail place! I loved every moment of my pedicure. I actually fell asleep while I was getting my""Escape to Fiji Pedicure"" ! All I needed was a Pina Colada to go with the yummy coconut sugar scrub that came with my pedicure. I can't wait to go back for my next pedicure!

I went to Sugarcoat this past weekend with a group of my girlfriends. There about 5 people in our party and I feel that while the service was great and i loved how the foot tubs do NOT have jets (minimizing infection) the owner /manager was very rude and not inviting. She really was very rude and alomost makes me NOT want to return. A russian lady named gerdia (sp) saved the day and if not for her me or my friends would never return. The owner had better thank her lucky stars that she has a great team working for her because if it were just her so would be out of business!

Okay, so all businesses go through growing pains, true but there comes a time when some things are standard I have visited this place from conception and a few times after the fact. Surely you should know my NAME!! I must say that things have CHANGED the quality that existed in the beginning has fallen way off. No one is there even one of the owners is gone. I suggest that they revamp the mission statement. I felt like I was on eggshells, the owner does not even smile ""wholeheartedly"" They lack appreciation of the client. and seem to want you to be happy cause the place is pretty. Luckily for me and you while returning from Hiram a friend suggested a Wellness Center. I was treated like royalty in Lithia Springs its WellSpa, It's two girls and by appointment only (my pedi has lasted for 3 weeks) and did I mention they offer 1hour massage for $39.00. So worth the drive!!!

I just moved to Atlanta and I was looking for a new place to get my nails done. This place is so pretty and clean. A very girlie place, although I hear guys do come in. Anyway, I had a great time talking to other customers and just relaxing and reading the latest gossip magazine. My pedicure has lasted forever and I am so happy with the color that I am living in my flip flops to show my toes off! I can't wait to go back and get another pedicure!

I started going to Sugarcoat over a year ago. The salon had a significant ""snooty, wannabe new money"" clientele where conversations seemed to drone on about inane, gossipy details. Still, it didn't matter too much based upon the fact that it was a clean salon with English speaking nail technicians. It was nice to have free valet parking. I really enjoyed my nail tech. Her work was excellent. It was standard for my nail polish to stay intact 5-6 days. I had regularly scheduled appointments, but there has been a change over time. \r
The staff was always nice, but they seemed a bit tense and careful about conversation. Initially, the owners were hospitable, but later they just stood behind the counter when you arrived. They rarely conversed and no refreshments were offered. \r
Recently, I made a last minute appointment, however the owners neglected to tell me that the person who regularly did my nails was no longer working there. As a matter of fact, it seemed as if many of the original techs were either out or had also quit. A new person did my nails. The polish started peeling the next day on both my fingers and toes. I haven't been back. \r
The new group seemed tense or afraid to ask questions, which started to affect the service. There were two things that really annoyed me while I was there. \r
Rather than refilling containers, one tech commenced to ""push"" the plastic container repeatedly against the side of the sink when there clearly was not enough liquid in the container. After encouragement from the other techs, she finally asked the owner for a refill. \r
They started cutting toe separators to be used on clients instead of the whole set.\r
For full payment of services, can't we just get a full set of toe separators?\r
I hope they improve soon.

I just recently took my mom here for a late Mother's Day present and wasn't thoroughly impressed with the experience. I would definitely recommend a wedding party or perhaps a birthday party for your little girl, considering the decor would probably strike her fancy rather than your 50-something year old mother's. She got a signature mani/pedi for $60 and I felt as though she could have gotten a better massage/scrub at a smaller and much cheaper joint somewhere in Midtown. The girls were very nice, service was slightly mediocre.. Just eh..

My sister was visiting from out of town and I wanted to take her someplace special. I had never been there before, but I researched it online. The atmosphere was so cute and what really impressed me was their commitment to maintaining a sanitary environment. For a $1 you can purchase your own nail kit to bring back to future appointments. I loved that! You hear so many horror stories about catching a fungus or infections from these nail salons. Unfortunately, I can't rave about the service. I work in the spa industry so my expectations are pretty high, especially when were talking $83 for a mani & pedi (including tip). That's what my sister paid for her deluxe-top-of-the-line-pedicure. It was mediocre at best. The next day I used callous remover and a pumice stone to exfoliate the dead skin that was left on her feet. The girl who did my manicure cut my finger and it took about 10 minutes for it to stop bleading. It hurt! Personally, if it were my salon I would not have charged my customer for the manicure. I didn't make a big stink about it, but the owner was walking around and if she would have asked how are services were going I would have let her know. My mani/pedi was $50. I've had better $30 treatments without cuts. For this salon I would suggest focusing on superior services and less on cute chandeliers and pink paint. I don't mind paying higher prices for good services, but this was just a regular 'ol pedicure, nothing special.

Pros: Ultra-cute, sanitary, great for girly gifts

Cons: Not worth the exxtra $money$

I've been to Sugarcoat several times and I thought the atmosphere was cute but it wasn't as great as I expected it to be. The pedicure bench was really uncomfortable to sit at and I was there for over 2 hours for a manicure and pedicure combo. The technician definitely seemed like she was right out of school. Don't think I'll be returning.

I visited Sugarcoat awhile back as a recommendation from a good friend and I have to say that not only was I pleasantly surprised, but I continue my bi-weekly upkeep despite the distance I have to drive to get there. My mani/pedi specialist is named Lauren and she always does a superb job. My experience is always relaxing and never rushed. If I desire, talk is minimal, or on some visits we chat it up. She is good at deciphering my mood. The valet is free, and although I wouldn't say tipping is required, from my understanding the valet guy only makes his money from his tips, so keep that in mind. The owners are very friendly and are quick to return my calls even before the store opens. I did have one experience with another nail tech and I have to admit, I didn't care for the mani/pedi from her. It hurt and the french pedi looked awful. Ask for Lauren and you won't be disappointed.

Cons: Inconsistent service

JUST FYI--\r
I made so many attempts to call this place and purchase multiple gift certificates for gifts (i was certainly going to spend a lot more than someone walking in for a mani-pedi) and THEY NEVER ANSWERED THE PHONE OR RETURNED MY CALL. \r
Good luck making your appointment.\r
And by the way, the emails I sent them were returned saying the email address did not exist.\r
Gotta say those benches don't look to comfy either.
