I was really sick for 36 hours after eating here, then to discover that they were cited by the dept of public health two weeks ago! Dec 11, 2009. Apparently making sure their employees know and follow health guidlines isn't a priority....the food didn't even taste that good...to start with

It is difficult to recount the many issues that have arisen on two visits to Ted's, which I wanted to like. Our offices are nearby, and who doesn't like Ted Turner? So it is sad to report that unless you are seeking pricey dry burgers, you'll be sorely disappointed by the food and, if you complain, the managers. Try this place on your own or with co-workers, but don't make my mistake and take someone you hope to impress or with whom you wish to do business.

Cons: Food, Managers

I took my dad, a carnivore through and through, to dinner here last night. Everything we had was terrific. I started with the wedge salad and he had the chopped, then we both had s bison filet with baked potato, and shared buttered carrots, roasted asparagus, and the salt and pepper onion rings. Having never eaten bison before I was initially skeptical, but it was absolutely delicious and I loved every bite. The atmosphere is cozy with good music, and very comfortable.

This place is an absolute oasis in the wonderful madness that is Midtown Manhattan. After the usually stressful workday I took my family out for a quick bite, since we were in the area Ted's seemed a good choice.
How wrong, it was fabulous from beginning to end! A great selection of beers to choose from, my Delmonico Bison steak was cooked to perfection. My wife had a chicken dish and the kids; one a Bison burger and the other a salad. All the food was timed perfectly the servers were attentive but not intrusive. I hate when the servers are nowhere to be found or worse when they seem to be at your table throughout the meal. I made it a point to compliment Mr Barber on my way out. To my surprise my Son pulled up reviews on my Blackberry when we were seated, our experience surpassed my expectation based on these. I highly recommend Ted's.

Went today to Ted's for my friends birthday. We frequent the place as we work in the law firm across the street. Usually we get friendly and prompt service at the bar, but we were a larger group so we got a table. Three of us ordered chicken tenders. Two of the three plates were completely different than what we usually get (darker, hand battered chicken pieces). We asked our waiter what the difference was and he said that there was none even though they looked blatantly different than the third plate. He sent over the manager who said he would send out two new plates of chicken tenders. When those arrived we discovered that the chicken from each of the three plates was severly undercooked. The insides were pink and cold. Not sure how much uncooked chicken we had consumed we asked to see the manager again. He was completely blase, barely apologized. He offered to send us new food ("maybe a chicken sandwich") but nobody had any appetite. There was no offer for free drinks or anything by the manager and even worse, there was no real apology. We had to keep asking to find out if the frozen tenders were precooked or not since the manager's "um, I think so" wasn't very comforting. Finally the waiter checked for us. He also offered us free cookies or dessert - he was the only semi-reasonable person in this debacle. We even had to request to get all the tenders orders off the check as it initially came with only one order removed. I would not return here. The staff at Ted's Montana Grill doesn't care about the happiness, or evidently, the health of their patrons.

Cons: Service, food, price

Tried the Bison Burger. Ordered for medium but got well done. Taste was OK. Not worth $15. Ambience was good.

Pros: Ambience

Cons: Food was average. Expensive

The burger is ok. Nothing special, but I expected more from a $15 dish. However, the ambiance is relaxing and there is little pretense. Good place to check out at least once.

On 6/21/08 we celebrated our 37 anniversary.

We had read all the reviews, and were NOT going to try Ted's.
Although since it's opening I had wanted to give it a try.

After our show we decided to give it a try anyway.

We are glad we did.

Felicia, our server was great. All the personnel were very nice.

My 11oz Kansas City BISON Strip was good value and came out just great and tasted great.

My wife's Big Sky Cobb was just as expected with all the details
NOTHING was missing.

The cole slaw was very unusual and very good.

My salad came out with a chilled fork and plate which made the
salad that much better. The biscuits were great.

We would definitely go back again.

I am glad that I didn't listen to all the reviews, because, getting a
good meal in NYC for the prices that Ted's charged was
excellent.

As a side note, the next time my wife will have the Bison short
ribs which also looked great.

Happy Eating.

We went with the idea of having great steaks, and or cuts of beef. I order a filet mignon that reminded me to an airline filet, at best. Side dishes well below par. We planned the visit for a few months, yet not a good experience.

On the other hand the burgers were a good choice. Nontheless, when you command high prices for your menu, better deliver, because there will be no repeats. Improvable to have me back or recommend it .

I am by no means a burger connosseur, but my bison burger, which included guacamole(i added it on myself), lettuce, tomato and ketchup, was out of this world! Bison is supposedly leaner than regular beef, and it wasn't as juicy as a regular beef burger, but it was actually pretty sweet and almost tasted the same as beef. But before we ordered our burgers, we ordered an appetizer of chili cheese fries. AMAZING! Very salty but so good. Our waitress was very friendly and actually told us a little bit of the background of this place. I would definitely recommend coming here because the atmosphere is good(the booths have comfy leather seats and mohagany wood around them), the service was fine, and the food is outstanding.

Being from Atlanta, home of Ted's, and in the city on business, I had to grab a quick lunch. I didn't expect it to be the same. But was I wrong. Same smiling faces, eager to make one's visit right. Same menu, same great burgers, and love the cedar plank Salmon. Just read another reviewer, who was complaing about frozen fries. LOL! They cut them there, as well as those damn good onion rings. Just a darn good all American joint, and the prices are good for NYC, and eveyone loves our little half sour pickles. Get one of those hand-dipped milkshakes. Beer selection is great also. And for you New Yorkers, try one of their Grey Goose Martini's with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives.

Was excited to see Ted's in NYC after dining at one of their locations in the DC area. I had a great meal in DC and NYC was even better. I had a steak and my wife had a burger and both were cooked perfectly. The sides were good as well. They also had a fairly decent beer selection which is surprising for a steakhouse. Oh yeah, excellent service the night we were there

After having been to Ted's Montana Grill in Columbus, Ohio twice and having incredible bison burgers both times, I was excited to learn of their New York location with the expectations of a similar treat. No such luck. Although I specified the burger to be cooked as well as possible for bison without overcooking it, it nonetheless came back dry and slightly overcooked. Even more disappointing were the freezer-burnt fries. If you're looking for a good bison burger, this probably isn't the place. It was no wonder there weren't many diners there on a Saturday night.

Enjoyed an amazing lunch here recently. Despite how busy it was, everyone from the hostess to the servers to the manager was friendly. Ambiance is fine, casually classic & nice - what you'd expect from an American place w/ steak. Appreciated the explanation of the restaurant philosophies by our cheery waitress- all the food is fresh (they have no freezers or microwaves) & their practices are environmentally aware. Great selection of various sandwiches & main entrees. Though tempted, neither of us tried the bison, a specialty at Ted's. My husband enjoyed a burger, & I had a chicken grill; both were delicious. (Our waitress did forget to ask how my husband wanted his burger cooked, but it came out perfectly). Great mashed potatoes on the side. Really liked the half sour pickles & variety of condiments on the tables. Very accommodating to food requests (substitutions, stuff served on the side, etc). Free refills on soda. Reasonable prices (though they're not listed on their website). This was a very pleasant dining experience - we will return here again! Only negative thing was that because it was a windy day, the door was difficult to open, we had a hard time & saw many people struggle w/ it (the manager said it was due to wind suction, something a vestibule would help w/...) But they're doing a lot of things right if that's the only bad thing I can say!

Went to Ted's for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Not that I didn't expect it, but there are so many NYC steakhouses to choose from. First off, our waiter was excellent, attentive and informative. My wife tried a bison burger and I had a steak, both of which were cooked perfectly. The accompanying side dishes were also quite tasty. Also, being a beer snob, I didn't expect much but they had Anchor Steam on tap as well as a couple others....Guinness & maybe Newcastle. They also had Boddington's pub draft can and Sierra Nevada in the bottle. Not bad at all!

I was very surprised and disappointed by the food here, since I am very fond of Ted Turner's TMC and expected a similar commitment to quality. The bison "prime rib" tasted like it had been boiled for a few hours, no flavor. The string beans were as flavorless and mushy as if they had come from a supermarket canned brand. The soda was served with crushed ice, in other words, there were about 5 sips of actual soda in the glass. It was literally like cafeteria food, though the decor of the place was quite nice and did not prepare me for the food that was to follow. Unfortunately this is not exaggeration. Not recommended; sorry Ted!

Was going to the theatre at night and needed to eat dinner and came across the Montana Grill. The restaurant is a good size and has a mix of tables and booths. Sitting in a booth is a much nicer experience if you can get one ? just separates you from the action. Dinner was good - had the rib-eye and wife had a chicken dish - both very good and cooked well. Had the Big Sky Pinot which was very light and good as well. The service was prompt and the staff was nice. We went back for lunch the next day and had sandwiches - chix and a burger - both good again. Is reasonably priced for Manhattan and it's location. Is just a nice place to get dinner or lunch.

I had a wonderful experience at Ted's. The food was amazing (I loved the bison burger and my friends had the chicken sandwhich), the service was so nice, and the price attached to the bill made it even better. It's a great location for lunch during the work week or a casual meal on the weekends. I can't wait to go back!
