I went to the Buck's Bikes In RR where I had originally purchased my bike to get service on it. The receptionist lady (obviously not a biker) just kept yelling across the store (even though I was the only one in there) "service in the back" service in the back" The white haired repair guy was such a pill, I finally just left and went somewhere else exasperated. After paying over $600 for a bike even a little Hi, how ya doing' would have gone a long way.....

Pros: near my house

Cons: don't like being treated poorly

Granted, I've been into Buck's before- it's a stop I like to make on an almost daily drive, and every time I do, I tend to buy something (being the gadget hound I am). Stopped in today, needed to buy a pump and a new seat. I asked, as always, if I could get some kind of discount. The guy looked at me like I was crazy. I mean, it never hurts to ask, becuase I've gotten discounts from Buck's before. But to tell me that "we don;t give discounts, maybe on bikes", and "I don;t know what to tell you"... must have been a junior know-nothing working the counter. Regardless, with Performance Bikes in town, Bicycle Sports Shop almost across the street, and plenty of neighborhood bike shops around, you can bet that Buck's Bikes has lost me as a customer. Buck's Bikes needs to learn how to negotiate, even when there's no room for discounts (I understand the current economy), and how to keep customers, or they'll keep losing more customers.

Pros: bike shop with good inventory on bikes, so-so accesories, decent shop

Cons: crappy people working there, not competitive on pricing

I visited Buck's on Saturday 20 July, around 4 pm, planning on purchasing a bicycle. When I went to Buck's no one greeted me. Perhaps they were closed. The meager selection of bikes made me think they were going out of business. I imagine they will soon. I had done my homework and was ready to buy -- I've been riding for over twenty years and consider myself a savvy shopper. I looked at the bikes and found the one I was interested in. Okay, now what do I do? The guy repairing bikes didn't even look at me. After being ignored for ten minutes, I said hello to someone who was also wandering around the store that I thought perhaps worked there. He didn't acknowledge my presence, took a bike down, and rode it to the door. They were not very busy, and I could've waited obviously if someone there would've have said something to me. What a total waste of time! I don't know who wrote the other review but it was nothing like my experience. Bikes are cheaper and the service is better at Wal-Mart! Since the staff can't be bothered with customers at Buck's go to any of their competition and don't waste your time going to Buck's!!

Pros: In Round Rock.

Cons: Terrible customer service.

Wow! We live outside of downtown Austin and so had been shopping close to home for bikes for the whole family. We were in shock at the price of a decent bike and were really hoping the fact that we were buying a minimum of 3 bikes would really help us get a good deal. Well, not so much....that is, until we called Buck's Bikes. And thank God we did!

After looking at other shops, we made the call to Buck's and decided it might be worth the drive to go investigate in person. Not only did they give us a decent discount for buying multiple bikes, they threw in helmets, gloves and bells for the kids. I couldn't believe how many "extras" they threw in.....even running back in and getting kickstands at the last minute. First round of service was free, too!

We were in awe and continue to tell anyone who will listen that Buck's is THE place to buy high quality bikes in Austin (and surrounding areas) for the whole family! Can't wait to go back and buy a "big" bike for our youngest! Buck's has restored our faith in Customer Service and will have our loyalty as long as we're here.
