Salon Thalia

I just moved to Philly a month ago, and I have been pouring over salon reviews for weeks. Salon Thalia had amazing reviews and was voted one of the top salons in the city. Well, during a "I hate my hair and it needs to be changed ASAP" moment today, I called up Salon Thalia at 3:30 in the afternoon in hopes of getting squeezed in for a color. The oh-so-sweet girl that answered the phone fixed me up w/ an appointment w/ Juaquin at 4:00 the same day. The place is perfect....everyone there was as nice as they could be....and Juaquin was amazing! He was super sweet. He completely listened to what I wanted and added some ideas of his own. And he is great at what he does! This is the best color that I have had in a long, long time. It's perfect! Thank you so much Salon Thalia for squeezing me in and being so nice! And most importantly, thank you so much Juaquin for an amazing color!!! For those of you reading this review, I will also add that this was also the most expensive salon that I have ever been to. However, in my opinion, this color was worth every penny. So, if you're willing to spend the money on awesome hair, this is definitely the place to go! Ask for Juaquin!

I am brand new to Philadelphia and I needed to find a salon. I found Salon Thalia on citysearch and decided to check it out for myself after reading the reviews. I was especially nervous about going to a salon because even though I was in serious need of a haircut, I am getting married in April and I was nervous about my hair being ok for the wedding. But as I said, I was in serious need of a haircut and I felt confident about this salon after checking out the webiste and the reviews.
The salon is beautiful: you can't help but feel relaxed and calm when you walk in. Every single staff member that I came into contact with was pleasant and professional. Carter cut my hair and I could not have asked for a better stylist! He took time to listen to me about what I wanted and he gave helpful feedback and advice. He was meticulous in his cut- explaining to me what he was doing and why. He also explained each product he was using and what it would do for my hair and he gave me great styling tips. It was refreshing to have a stylist who obviously cares about what he does and takes his time with the cut. I would highly recommend this salon to everybody and I would especially recommend you get Carter!

I was recently referred to Carolyn by a friend of mine and I'm so happy I gave her a try! I had been box-dyeing my hair for years, which I know is terrible but it always looked good until I got carried away and basically ruined it. Carolyn really did fix my hair and bring it back to a beautiful color without making me feel bad about doing it to myself and without charging me an arm and a leg for it. She also cut into my layers, making my hair feel lighter and look prettier than it has in a long time. Then, I got the best manicure ever from Cindy! She was quick, meticulous and does the best polish application! Everything was so nice about my experience here, I can't wait to go back! Plus, they carry all the best products - Kerastase, Bumble and Bumble and Shu Uemura which I couldn't find anywhere else.

Go see Cindy for manicures and pedicures here! I have been getting my nails done since I was a little kid and I can honestly say, she is the best! She is incredibly thorough and gets my feet looking and feeling beautiful (and believe me, they are not starting off that way at all)! Also, she does the most amazing nail designs - everything from little intricate flowers to skulls! My friends thought I had put little skull stickers on my nails - that's how detailed they were. Its like she's literally painting masterpieces on your nails. And to top it all off, she rubbed my neck and back (no charge!) while my nails were drying! Cindy is the best in the city and her prices are etremely reasonable.

I have never placed a review of anything on the internet, but this one is definitely warranted. I have been going to Memories for brazilian waxing for months and she is the best. I have been to at least four other spas in this city and others in the past and NONE compare, both in terms of minimizing pain and results. (If you are only getting eyebrows done, you won't even feel a thing!). She is so easy going and friendly -- great for first timers who are nervous.

My wife did not say anything when she was their at the salon but when she got home she was so unset with how her hair turned out. She went their because her old stylist at her other salon had left. Now she is going back to her old salon and hoping they can fix what happened.

LOVE, LOVE the salon and Wyatt is absolutely awesome. I am compelled to write this review only because after being with the same stylist for seven years who is three hours away, I was referred to Wyatt and now, will no longer be making the drive to my other stylist. From the friendliness of all at the salon to Wyatt's amazing color/cut - I have absolutely NO complaints. And to think, I almost cancelled this appointment. Wyatt's skills/technique are fabulous and I felt incredibly comfortable with him. Actually, shortly after I sat down and talked about my hair with him, I really had no fear of Wyatt handling my hair. He completely paid attention to detail with regard to both the cut and highlights (fantastic placement!!) To my surprise, Wyatt truly met and exceeded my expectations. And, he's got a great sense of humor to boot - can't beat that! I couldn't have anticipated a better first experience, especially considering I was the last person in the salon on a Saturday evening and DIDN'T feel like he was rushing to get me out the door.

I've been going to Salon Thalia for over a year now and I am still more than pleased in the service and attention I get. I usually see Wyatt but there was a while where he was out due to injury and I saw both Carter (who was great but sadly moved away!) and Tiffany who also was fantastic. On top of that, Danielle, the receptionist is always sweet and willing to work me in. In fact, I just called for an appointment tomorrow and she happily got me in! I am always happy with both my cuts and color and and I never feel pressured into anything there. The vibe is so relaxed and everyone is very genuine that would probably have to pay me to go somewhere else. I highly recommend Salon Thalia!

My first visit to John was on a recommendation and in preparation for my wedding day. My hair looked so good I have been going ever since. He does both hair color and cutting beautifully. He works with such care and attention to detail, I trust him completely. It is a relief that I can rely and defer to his taste and expertise without ever having to express what I want or don?t want, I let him handle it. He?s the best, a sure-shot.

So my friend and I have being going to Michelle for facials and she rocks!!!!!!! So when we told her that we were going to be in a wedding she let us know that she also does make-up. Since we always have been pleased with the facials we decided to give it a try. Let me tell ya........I have never felt so pretty. My friend and I looked great. There is just one problem, I want her to do my make-up EVERY weekend now. haha!!!!

I had my great lengths hair extensions done here by Tiffany and I won't ever go anywhere else. This place is the best of the best if you want quality hair care and quality customer service. They know what they're talking about and do a great job. You can tell these people really enjoy what they're doing every day because it shows in the attitudes of everyone who works there.

After years and years of going to many different salons, I have found what I consider to be the best find in all of Philly.

I decided to make an appointment here based on all the reviews I read and at the urging of my friend who goes here. I made an appointment with Tiffany for highlights and a haircut and my hair looks beautiful! She really got me to see my hair in a whole new way and showed me how to style it in a way I never would have thought of! The salon is beautiful and clean and the entire staff is really nice and professional. I can't wait to go back for my next visit!

I just have to say how much I really love going to Salon Thalia. Every time I walk in there, I feel like I'm on vacation, just toally catered to by everyone without it seeming pushy or over the top. I've seen Tiffany and Wyatt and both of them are great and have taken excellent care of my hair. Memories is also great, I'm always such a baby about waxing but she just makes it go by so fast and painless that I can actually take it. And I'm not sure what the person below is talking about with the reception desk because I have always found them to be really warm and actually very helpful. Go to this salon, you won't regret it!

I was just coming on here to get the number to make my next appointment with Wyatt at Salon Thalia, and saw the unfavorable review. I felt like I needed to write my own review!

Wyatt took his time and we discussed everything he'd be doing with my hair from the moment I sat in his chair. I truely appreciated his attention to detail, and professional, yet super friendly and personable demeanor. He's the kind of person who I feel 100% comfortable telling him if I'm not happy with something b/c he seems to genuinely care that his client leaves the salon satisfied.

I would highly recommend Wyatt if you are looking for someone who is going to take the time to give you personal attention and make you feel comfortable, and not rush you out of the salon and onto his next client. And make your hair look amazing! I left with shiny, full locks and felt like a million dollars. Can't wait to go back for a cut and color!

I will be honest and say that the receptionist staff leaves a little to be desired - they could be more warm and friendly (which is why I gave the salon 4 stars vs. 5 stars). But it won't deter me from going back.

**************** I just wanted to give an update on my experience and say that the 2nd time around, the staff were awesome! Maybe they just had an off day on my 1st visit? At any rate - I have absolutely no complaints after my 2nd visit to the salon. Everyone was great - very friendly and attentive.

i just have to say what a wonderful stylist Tiffany is...i found her by going on this website then making an appt and i will NEVER EVER go to another stylist again...she listens to what you say, is very talkative, funny, and sooooo nice! she is honest as well - i wanted to get a haircut like victoria beckham and she said it would be too shot but we could take that cut and make it a little longer and it looks AMAZING...i did not have a good experience w. Memories so i cant recommend her...the manager is very good though! she really cares about her job and customers!

After reading your review about your experience here at Salon Thalia, we would like to express our sincerest apologies for not meeting your expectations. In regards to the reviews about the salon, it is true that we have asked some of our clients to support us and as far as our friends or employees writing positive reviews - well, that is just out of our control.
However, the personal attack on Wyatt was totally unfair. It's true he is a junior stylist but his dedication to his advanced training and technical skills prove that he is a talented and skilled professional. It's not uncommon to perform a cut or color adjustment. If you would have kindly brought to our attention what specific service you were unhappy with, besides the time he spent with you, we would have gladly tried to accommodate your needs. Perhaps in the future, at the next salon you visit, you'll give them the opportunity to rectify the situation before posting a negative review.

After years of searching for a stylist who understood me, I have finally found not only one but at least two, both at the wonderful Salon Thalia. I had been going to Carolyn for my hair for about six months and my hair had looked better than it ever had. I was initially upset to hear that she was on maternity leave (how dare she!) but they assured me Tiffany would take care of me in Carolyn's absence. Wow, were they right! It's so nice to know that an entire salon can produce great hair, not just one or two people.

I love coming here because its so beautiful and everyone is so nice and creative.

From the moment I walked in to this salon I fell in love!!! Everyone was so friendly. After going to pierre and carlo where they acted like I was lucky to be there, this was such a refreshing change. I chose Wyatt to do my hair after reading all the great reviews, and I'm so glad I did!! He was very consultative and gave me a color that made my eyes really stand out and my skin look so much better! He also spent a lot of time giving me a fabulous cut that is so flattering and has such great texture. The salon was clean, the staff all told me how great my color was when I left, and the price was totally worth it for the end result - it was even less than I expected it to be. I love this place and can't wait to go back so Wyatt can put some highlights in my new 'do!

I've been going to Memories for (honestly) painless brazilian waxes for a long time and recently I tried Wyatt for my cut and color. Couldn't be happier. He took time to make sure I would like what I was getting and did such an incredible job, I feel like I've never had hair this pretty before. Based only on its Citysearch reviews, my friend and I went to Salon Thalia. Individually, we both experienced poor customer service, and I experienced a poor, overpriced product. The details are below.

My friend went in for a French manicure, but the technician talked so much she ran out of time. After a hour, my friend walked out with just a coat of paint on her short little nails! To be completely fair to the salon, the manager ended up refunding my friend's money.

I went in for a demi dye job, and knowing I had only an hour, I said I didn't need it styled. But after the final rinse, the stylist towelled my hair and then didn't even comb it. I have long, one-layer, straight hair. In no way is it towel-and-go hair. I tried to comb through my hair with my fingers to make it lay down. He watched me do this and didn't offer me a comb. The whole dying process took three times longer than he promised and he miscalculated the amount of dye needed by half! The demi dye job I got was to hide my gray hair, so I asked for it to match my natural color. My natural hair color is very medium brown. The dye job was much, much darker. Everyone I knew teased me mercilessly about it. A comedian at a comedy club asked me if I'm Wiccan. The other comedian onstage defended me by saying there was nothing Wiccan about me except my hair. My hair is that unnatural looking. My husband calls it "the bad dye job". Thank goodness it's just a demi and is washing out. Worst of all, I paid $80 for that demi!

So I like to find free stuff on CraigsList, after all I'm a student ;) So I see an ad looking for a hair model, and I immediately think : Score! Free haircut! So I call and am set up with an appointment with Carter at Salon Thalia. It was a little confusing to find, but once I walked in I knew this would be a great experience. The salon is so customer-orientated. The space is big, people are friendly, and stylists see only one client at a time to ensure individualized service. Carter spent over an hour cutting my hair, but when he was done, I was a rockstar!! I went from so-so and boring to this amazing cut with texture and fun... Yeah, it short, but I look like a rockstar. I left the salon feeling gorgeous!! I sang "Party like a Rockstar" all afternoon at work, and I sure felt like one... Carter, you ROCK!!!

Pros: Very upscale ambience, great lighting, feels like an exclusive private club you've been lucky to be invited to ;)

Time flies by while at Salon Thalia. It is like chatting with a bunch of friends over drinks.

I desperately needed to get my hair cut and blown out last October and I decided to give Salon Thalia a try. After Carolyn did my hair, I was hooked. I instantly stopped using my stylist, who I had been using for years, at 800 West in Jersey and now only use Carolyn. I always get rave reviews from my family and friends. I am always confident that she will cut my extensions perfectly.

You know that Memories does great eyebrows when your fiancee notices the change. Come on... what guy notices eyebrows! I was reluctant to get my first bikini wax and underarm wax but trusted her to do a great job. Not only is Memories very professional, but we laugh throughout the entire appointment.

I always look forward to my appointments at Salon Thalia and know that anyone who goes will be extremely happy with the result.

This salon is wonderful. Tiffany is a fantastic stylist and she has given me the best hair color of my life. She's amazing with highlights, and does outstanding single color too. She is super sweet, makes you feel very comfortable and the end result is always spectacular. Love her! As for Memories, she has a way of making an eyebrow wax totally painless. I've been waxing my eyebrows for 15 years now and had always dreaded the experience, until I met Memories. I don't know what she does, but it is painless, and then she gives you a nice massage in the eyebrow area so you're left totally relaxed and without redness or swelling. Its really an outstanding experience! And of course, the eyebrows always look spectacular when she's done. Go to Salon Thalia and meet Tiffany and Memories and you won't be disappointed!

After searching and reading reviews, I decided to take a chance at Salon Thalia. I made an appointment with a stylist named Mia, she had so many excellent reviews , I had to check her skills out. the salon was beyond my expectations, friendly, beautiful, spacious, and not pretentious. Mia took her time to talk with me, talking about color and a style. I totally felt like I could trust her. I loved my highlights and my new look.
she also helped me out with taking better care of my color by giving me a special in-house treatment that would allow for my color to last longer and it made it feel like silk. I also purchased some of the products she recomended, and I'm loving them. I'm glad I took this chance and chose Mia. Thanks Mia, I'll be back!!!

I decided to try Salon Thalia because I needed a new look and saw all of the great reviews on Citysearch. I also requested Wyatt because of all of the great reviews about him. All of the reviews are absolutely correct! He did such a great job with cutting and coloring my hair! I've been having trouble growing it out because it's on the thinner side, but he gave me a cut that makes my hair fuller and I love it. He also helped me pick a color that compliments my skin and eyes. I highly recommend him!

Best look I have had since my TV make-over several years ago.
Not living or working in the city, this experience made the trip worthwhile and I will definitely be back. I look forward to my next appointment.

I'm writing for the first time to highly recommend Mila as the BEST skin care expert, ever! I've had troublesome skin for years and Mila cleared it up when no one else could. She really is a miracle worker. I've lived in 5 east coast cities...and without hesitation, Mila is the best. My mother actually travels two hours from NYC for her facials and brow waxing... Mila is highly invested in helping her clients improve and look their best. Go, enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

5 years ago, I put my life long problems with my skin in Mila's hands. I'd been covering up my face with make-up since I was 14. After a few months under her care, I was able to stop wearing cover-up! She is truly a magician when it comes to facials. I followed her to Salon Thalia from her previous salon and I found it to be delightful and very professional.

I highly recommend Mila for facials, eyebrows, and Brazilian waxes.

I have been terrified to get eyebrows and Brazilian wax for more than 5 years. I have been searching for a new salon for the last couple of months as my wedding day gets closer & closer. I have horrible past experience with eyebrows & Brazilian wax (most of the time I had bruises; my hair grew back in a couple days; which mean the hair was broken off, and it was excruciating painful). As my wedding day get closer & closer I felt compelled to do this. Then my life savior (my friend Jennifer) recommended me to Memories. I trusted Jennifer so I had my first appointment with Memories. Memories made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. She made my Brazilian waxing at ease, painless, and bruises free. Most of my life I always thought that pain and bruises are what Brazilian waxing all about. Wow it was just unbelievable how comforting & relaxing experienced I had when she wax my eyebrows. I was impressed with how she has the skills to execute it & give you the best eyebrows to compliment your eyes and face structure. I didn?t want to leave her room? it?s just cozy, clean, and relaxing. She is truly an ARTIST in eyebrows!!! I left Salon Thalia with the most gorgeous eyebrows I ever had. I have been getting a facial with the same beautician for over 2 years and when I found out she left her salon, I had to go where she went; and she came to Salon Thalia. I would never dream of having a facial done by anybody else but her. In all the facials I have had, in Philly or anywhere else, she has by far been the best I have ever seen. She is really professional and diagnoses what you need before she starts, she takes her time because there is nothing worse than someone rushing your facial whenyou are relaxed. She knows everything about skin whether you have normal skin and just need a facial or have some problems with dryness etc. My skin since I have seen her has improved dramatically (it was a little dry) . She is very friendly and has the softest hands (there is nothing worse than rough hands on the face) and reall takes her time. You also get lovely hot mask and while waiting you get a nec and shoulder massage.Best of all, and hard to find these days, she will do extraction. She is also great at eyebrow shaping and waxing. If you need a facial or wax, ask for Mela at Salon Thalia. Highly recommended, and she is not pushy like other salons with products (although Dermalogica has to be the best product on the market.).
Just look at her skin, and there's your proof of how good she is!!

I also go to Wyatt and highly recommend you do the same! My hair always grows out so nicely, its hard to even tell sometimes when I need to cut it again. My color always looks great plus he's so easy to communicate with. This salon is also great for manicures and pedicures, the nail room is beautiful (as is the whole salon!), I could spend all day in there!

Recently I went to Salon Thalia for a second time thinking it couldn't be as great as the first. I was wrong... from a friend's urging I made an appointment with Wyatt a few months ago. I walked out feeling beautiful! My hair has never looked so good..really. I won't go as far to say it was an ugly duckling turned swan situation but it was damn close. Last week I went back to Wyatt and again he did an amazing job turning my normally flat hair into a voluminous style for the second time. It even grew out perfectly. I was blown away..no pun intended. The best part of the experience was upon leaving when another stylist walked over and said how great my hair looked. All I could say was "I know!" Wyatt isn't just highly but tremendously recommended...and did I mention he's eye candy too??

This salon is great! I am new to Philadelphia and made an appointment with Wyatt after reading about him on their website. He did an incredible job with my hair - cut and highlighted! He really took the time to listen to me and make sure I was happy with my hair which I am! Plus, my hair feels so soft and healthy! Also, the salon is such a nice place to be in for a few hours, everyone who works there is so professional and friendly.

I've lived nearby for years but had no idea Salon Thalia existed. But I followed Mila (from Salon Brescia) there when she switched and couldn't be happier. She did a great job with waxing (I'll be back for a facial soon) and I really liked the atmosphere at the salon overall. Mila's great - very professional, very fast, thorough and really just a lovely person. That helps when someone is ripping hot wax off your skin!

I have been going to Salon Thalia since it first opened. The beautiful atmosphere and the friendly stylists make me look forward to my hair appointments. It is truely a salon experience with a relaxing feel. I especially go to Thalia to see Liz Hession. She is an amazing colorist and stylist. She always knows what I want and she is forever recommending new things to keep me feeling young and fresh. She is beautiful and talented. Her beauty coupled with the sleekness and sophistication of the salon make my experiences at Salon Thalia memorable everytime. I recommend the salon and Liz. You will not be disappointed.

As the title alone would say........I want to say this, I am moving back home due to graduating this year.
The past two years Ive been treating myself to Salon thalia once a month and could actually say that I have a hair stylist : Mia.
Within the past two years I have never writtin a review and I feel terrible. Mia has always been such a pleasure, witty ,funny and a professional with the utmost skill as well as all the assistants that Ive seen here and there.
I can remember the first time I made an appointment it seemed like I would never be able to afford it and come back again....but guess what ?????? Its so worth it.
I know this sounds so silly but I am really going to miss my monthly visits as well as Mia. When I left today I took a handfull of Mia's business cards because you never know when one of friends will be in town and might need their hair done.....So Mia if your reading this maybe you will see some of my friends If we are ever in the Philadelphia area again.
Salon Thalia you are the best, Mia Im going to miss you.

THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME VISITING THE SALON SINCE I MOVED TO PHILLY. I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW FRIENDLY EVERYONE WAS. MY APPOINTMENT WAS WITH MIA , WHO TOOK SUCH GREAT CARE OF ME AND MY HAIR. SHE GAVE ME GORGEOUS HIGHLIGHTS AND A BEAUTIFUL STYLE. SHE ALSO TURNED MY DULL, DRY LOCKS INTO BEAUTIFUL, SHINY FEELING HAIR AGAIN BY SUGGESTING ONE OF THE AMAZING KERASTASE TREATMENTS. I ALSO HAD SERVICES WITH MEMORIES FOR WAXING, SHE WAS SO NICE AND CAN I SAY...PAINLESS!!! I'M SO GLAD I FOUND THIS PLACE!!! I'LL BE BACK!!!!

I did a terrible thing. I thought I could dye my hair myself. It was terrible. Chunks were one color; other pieces were a totally different color. The team at Salon Thalia was great. They fit me into the schedule that day. They transformed my hideous hair into a blond that looked totally natural. To top it all off they were really understanding and nice about it. I can't recommend them enough.

Im new to Philadelphia and i needed a new stylist that could deal with crazy curly hair, and i was very afraid that i wouldnt find one but i took a chance. once my appointment was made i met Mia for the first time and my first impression was how cute she was, but could she do my hair?
Wow she could ! I was soooo amazed by her skills and knowledge as well as her professionalism, but she still kept me laughing.
I must say to anyone who needs a new stylist or just looking around go visit Mia at Salon Thalia she will leave you looking new.

i left my long-time hairstylist when she wasn't able to work in the updated style i had in mind and tried to describe..

i was recommended to work with WYATT at Thalia.

The salon is beautiful and Wyatt took care of me from start to finish. He took the time to consult and understand what i was looking for.. A great cut that worked in my ideas, but better - Wyatt made suggestions that better suit my hair texture and my ability to keep up the look.

Highly recommended!
