The service is friendly & great - the bartenders - know how to make - off-the-chart drinks - Expresso Martinis are the best.

Also, the Sushi and Sliders are Great!

Cons: Too busy to stay long enough

based on the reviews posted here, I had high expectations for Lea - instead I was truly disappointed. I guess natash9257 doesn't get out often enough if she thinks Lea has the best sushi. I went on a Thursday night and the place was happening - good atmosphere - however that was spoiled by subpar service and mediocre food. there are too many other good places to waste your time on this one. lea is good for drinks but make your dinner destination somewhere else.

Lea is one of my favorite place to take guests. It is ALWAYS fun. The waitresses are always stunning and sweet. (Needless to say my guy friends love it here) The new manager, told us that they are going to start pluggin in the "Wii" Monday nights and WE WILL BE THERE!! It's hidden in the east walkway on park ave, and it is awesome! Dont forget the sushi!! Some people dont even know about it...but i tell my guests this : think of your favorite sushi place - and try Lea's - it WILL beat it, without a doubt in my mind. Ladies this is THE meet spot. Trust. ;)

I went out on a date last week and my date introduced me to Lea, I don't know where the heck all of these negative reviews come from, maybe they were written by miserable, fat ,insecure women with no self esteem. Lea has the best sushi I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The service provided by these elite looking women was spectacular, and I have never encountered such a seductive ambiance. The manager was super friendly and extremely tentative, she offered us a drink on the house and even gave us a free Tapas dish to try out. If you're looking to woo someone and offer them a good time, I would recommend Lea any day.

The service was sub-par. We printed off a coupon from CitySearch's website, which was for Monday's buy one glass of wine get one free, expiration date 12/08. Today is 6/30/08. They refused to accept the coupon (which contained a bar code). In addition, not only did they get our order wrong but charged us $3.00 for a diet coke the side of a large shot glass!!!!! Save your $$$$ and skip this place. Skip it go to Divine Bar instead!

The place is hard to find, hidden away in an alley UNDER the highway. The bar is small, with friendly staff, and the new breed of customer that NEVER SITS DOWN if they're not eating. We've seen it before, starting a couple months ago. Ai thinks it's a new young people's fashion. STAY STANDING WITH A BEER IN YOUR HAND... EVEN IF ALL THE TABLES ARE EMPTY. I don't get it. Maybe it means you're tough and don't have to sit down. Maybe it's a way of avoiding a table tip and sticking to a dollar a drink. I donno. Can someone fill me in on this? By the way, the food was excellent, if a bit pricey. Tortilla pizzas, toast with lox and prosciutto. The staff was friendly and tolerant of us moving around. The crowd thinned out at 10:45. I guess that's when the train leaves to wherever. I say, let the idiots stand, take a table and enjoy yourself! --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers.

I went there with few of my friends "around 6 of us" the staff there were accommodating and friendly. I have to say though that the service was a bit slow but it was busy and i don't think there were enough waitresses there.
The ambience is nice and it's a good social place too.
Def. will be back

This place is a great after work spot, right under the Hemsley Building on Park Ave - a hidden gem indeed! The food is great! If you order sushi, ask the chef for his orange "special" sauce. DELICIOUS!!! I'm not sure why some people below complained about the service being slow. Sure it gets busy sometimes, but overall I've had exceptional service. I'm definitely coming back!

After nearly being crushed by a city bus and running into an ex with a new much more attractive and successful mate, it was time for a drink or three. Somehow instead of taking my usual route home I walk under the East Helmsley Parkway and saw three gold letters on a black door spelling ?LEA?. The combination of this bad day and my curious nature pulled me in. I was surprised to find myself in an adult?s version of Walt Disney?s ?It?s a Small World?. There must have been a waitress or bartender from every continent, not to mention a circumnavigating wine selection. It was strangely enlightening to see so many happy people in one place. I just figured they put something in the water, so naturally I had a glass. Sure enough, even the water tastes better at Lea. Lea was exactly what I needed! After my second ?21 year old single malt scotch whisky?, an order of garlic shrimp with guacamole sauce, and lamb-chops, that?s right lamp-chops I said it, it was time to call it a night. This may sound a tad bit fantastical, but I swear when I got back to my apt my hair-line stopped receding and my man-ness grew a few if you know what I mean! Now I?m not one to write reviews or even use the Internet, whatever it is, but after an experience like that?I think the whole world has a right to know about those three gold letters!

I have been a regular at Lea the past year and am always satisfied. The staff is very friendly and service is great... drinks are always on the table within 5 minutes of ordering. I've also had some of the best sushi here. I love the atmosphere as each night is always a new experience...the waitresses are always happy and having a good time along with the customers. I think this is important because each time i come in it makes me feel welcome. I would strongly recommend checking it out.

My experience was drastically different than the other disappointed customers. Me and my girlfreinds made reservations and were seated promply. The dinnig room has a nice ambiance. Our waitress was friendly and assisted with our menu selection.Extensive list of wines and cocktails. Got the drinks and food in a normal amount of time and the suchi, some of the best i had in the city.Definately try the Spicy Cruch Tuna Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll.Everybody i was with had a great time, and we even stayed after our meal and hung out by the bar for more drinks. The staff was relatively friendly and i would definately reccommend going there.

I will have to add to those reviews about the horrible service....our waitress tonight was just terrible. I asked her a question about the food and she gave me such obnoxious attitude....she also stared blankly into space while taking our order. I couldn't even tell if she knew we were speaking in English. The food was also completely off today....the calamari was clearly not fresh and tasted like something microwaved...the sushi was just off...overall an unsatisfying experience

We came here because the location was convenient, and it was a horrible mistake. The service was so atrocious and rude that it nearly ruined our evening. If you enjoy being talked down to by a twenty year old waitress who could not tie three words together in a coherent manner, then by all means visit this establishment. Otherwise, stay away. With the prices this place charges for drinks, a little human courtesy is a requirement. I am never coming back here and I am advising all of my friends and acquaintances not to.

I went to Lea's on 8/8/2006 for a birthday party and after dinner cocktails. Tuesday's are great because ladies drink apple martini's, cosmo's and wine for FREE. Can't beat a deal like that! The crowd was great, a lot of good looking people...especially the waitresses. The drinks here were strong and the appetizers were great (Try the sushi). The space is lovely with great seating areas and a massive main bar. I would go back again after work.

Friday evening started off decent - the waitress took our drink orders early on and brought them back in a timely manner. Then disappeared for a looong time. Had to flag down another waitress to put in our food order. Two of us got our food in about 15 minutes, while the other two waited and waited - food showed up close to an hour later!!!
Overall, drinks and food were decent (though the cheese platter didn't offer crackers but bread buns), however the service was completely AWFUL. If it weren't for the great company and conversations, the passage of time would have been much more noticeable and irritable.

I read in the Zagat review for nightlife that the "waitresses are hot, and drinks are cold", pretty cheesy, but worth the trip if it's true...so I go...and its true - completely packed, gorrrgeous gals serving our cold drinks. Cool spot to take your native new yorker buddies who never knew this was here...

I missed my train to Connecticut, and was not happy about it...So I decided to grab a drink and a quick bite to eat and came accross Lea! Such a nice change of atmosphere from the usual stuffy Grand Central places to eat. The staff is hot, great ambiance, and super popular with the locals. Great networking in a laid back enviroment. Definitely worth a trip-- I ended up missing my next train -- on purpose that time.

On friday night I attended a broadway show with my mom and sister and had made reservations at Lea's for after the show. They had told me that dinner was served till 1 and took my reservation for 11:15. We arrived at Lea's was given a dinner menu and we put in our order. We were sitting for about 40 minutes when the waitress returned to let us know that, oops!!, her mistake the kitchen had closed. It was by far the most poorly run establishment. In the end we had to leave b/c we couldn't eat. To top it off they did not even want to comp us our one round of drinks we had ordered. I will never go back!!!!

Finding myself lost with a friend walking outside of Grand Central tired and famished...we find ourselves in this corrider and peek into this beautiful hideaway. We end up walking into an amazingly attractive staff, which catered to our evey need...ate amazing food and had a few drinks. The location weeds out a negative crowd and locks you in what feel like one of NY's best kept secrets.

Lea is definately a unique bar for the area, as there are not too many other places that are like it around Grand Central. The staff is friendly, attractive, and well worth the you leave after getting to gaze at them for awhile. The drinks are pricey, but no more than an upscale lounge of its kind. During the week it is nice for a quiet drink, go on a Thrusday for a full house!

Aesthetically pleasing, comfortable atmosphere conducive to both business related meetings and straight forward socializing.
Sophisticated flair; not specifically trendy hence frequentable by diverse groups of people. Service needs a bit of a jog but the occasional delays are offset by the friendly and accomodating disposition of the staff and management.

Went there with a few friends to get a drink before our train. Our order was taken, then apparently forgotten about - after asking 3 times, we received our drinks about 20 minutes later. Then, after our check arrived, we were charged the wrong price for the wine - 3 of us had the same wine and were charged 3 different prices. We were also charged for a drink that we didn't order.. It is also quite expensive considering what else is nearby to Grand Central. The only nice thing is the decor..
