Message from Cercle Rouge

Merging the nostalgia of old Paris with the new sophistication of TriBeCa, Cercle Rouge is certain to please locals and visitors alike. Owner Georges Forgeois updates the classic French Brasserie of the 1950s with a fresh American feel. A favorite of many diners is a unique take on Buffalo wings, with blue cheese whipped in creme fraiche. However, those seeking traditional Parisian fare will not be disappointed by the perfect steak & fries, complemented by their own homemade sauce. The atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed with a decor enhanced by items obtained at Les Puces in Paris. An extensive wine list features French & American wines. The casual bar in front is perfect for sipping wine and sharing a bite to eat with friends, while the terrace is an ideal spot for people watching as the sun sets over the nearby Hudson.

Editorial by Citysearch

In Short
Follies Begere showgirl posters, old Metro signs, and black-and-whites of icons suggest a bohemian Left Bank brasserie, accented by antique mirrors and a large circular red booth. The din is very American, courtesy of the boisterous financial types, whose exuberance echoes off ornately tiled floors. Menu options are along the lines of owner Georges Forgeois' other restaurants, Jules, Bar Tabac and Cafe Noir, mixing traditional brasserie fare like onion soup, foie gras and steak frites with eccentricities like chicken wings and chickpea fritters.

Key Points

  • French Brasserie Downtown
  • Open Non Stop & Late
  • Executive Chef: Pierre Landet

The Inside Scoop

  1. Where to Sit - The casual bar room up front is perfect for a glass of wine and a bite; the crimson-colored back room is better for dates, quieter conversation and private parties; and the outdoor cafe offers linger-worthy people-watching.
  2. The Extras - On weekends from noon to 1pm, kids can enjoy face painting and magic shows.
  3. What to Drink - The heavily French and American wine list offers more than 20 by-the-glass options.

Creme de la creme

by Manan S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,511

A French title that fits the French place really well! This eatery has got great sorts of desserts and pastries, ranging from even Bavarian black forest cake to croissants that you could only imagine to be so scrumptious.

A beautiful feeling

by ajv75

Brought wife here for a chilled-out birthday dinner, and we were easily given a cozy corner booth. Live band was fun, food was excellent (I wish I could get my roasted vegs to come out like that at home), and the manager brought out a dessert w/ sparkler and bday greeting for my wife without my having even requested it. Joie de vivre and whatnot. Highly recommended. Not cheap, but certainly not overpriced, either.

Pros: Food, decor, staff, vibe

Cons: Price?

Watch for Tip Fraud

by watch for Tip Fraud

I went in with my three friends for a dinner.
Foods were okay, I wouldn't say the best french I ever had.
Those that are Tourist and foreigners, BE AWARE.
After the meal, they bring out a bill with 20% gratuity when the menu says 20% for party of 6 or more.
I asked the waiter why 20% when we are party of 4. He looked at me and said, "Oh, I thought you were visiting!" Of course that is not what I wanted to hear, so I called the manager in private and asked him what is going on. He says, "There are a lot of tourists here...." Again, what a unprofessional remark from the manager!
I couldn't believe it.
Food is one thing, but service really makes up restaurant. Stop frauding tourist or foreigners!
Please watch for your bills guys!

Pros: ok food

Cons: bad service and Tip fraud

Adorable Hidden Gem

by PFPicardi

I (of course) Citysearch-ed cute little restaurants in SoHo when my parents came to town. I thought French would definitely be interesting, so Cercle Rouge came up as an option. I was excited to try it -- and the location is pretty convenient (right past Canal Street on West Broadway). The place was so adorable... a really awesome French New Orleans-vibe, the staff is beautiful, and the hostess was very attentive and gave us a great table. The decor when we went was Halloween-themed, and they did such a nice job... it really set the tone for the meal. We all ordered something different, but we had trouble deciphering the menu, which our French waiter unfortunately couldn't help us translate. That was the ONLY setback (the prices were totally reasonable), and any apprehension we had about ordering these french dishes disappeared when we tasted them. Everything was delicious. So, the shot in the dark was worth it... Definitely get Les Moules (in any sauce, though I had the basil and lemon) with pomme frites. And the French Onion soup was great, too. Ill be back!

Pros: Great food, prompt service, amazing New Orleans-like vibe

Cons: Staff could have been a little more well-versed

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

An extra $129.57 charge to my debit card in addition to my small bill of $35.93. Put a hold on all my funds and only a simple "Sorry Sir for the inconvenience."
Never again - watch out.

my fav french restaurant in ny

by jlacko

After eating here I can say it's my favorite French restaurant in NY and it ranks in my top 3 favorite restaurants overall. The portions are quite generous and the food is ridiculously good. The richness... omg... the richness..... The onion soup was amazing, the scallop cocktail was mouth watering, duck was delicious... oysters were yum... Everything was really just immaculate. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. I already plan to have my birthday dinner here :)

We tried Cercle Rouge when it first opened and were disappointed, but today is a whole different story! We've been back about four times now and each time the food is amazing and the service is great as well. Low key atmosphere and you can sit outside too.

Great Gnocchi!

by citilivin

All of the reviews about the gnocchi were totally on point. It is soooo good! They have outdoor seating which is my favorite way to dine, especially when the weather is so nice. We ordered a bottle of wine which outr server helped us choose which was great and not expensive. The place can get pretty busy but we have nver waited long for a table. Will definitely be going back again soon!

Pros: Gnocchi, outdoor seating

Great Seafood

by wadinglove

We went to Cercle Rouge last night and our meals were great! My girlfriend said his sea bass was the best she'd ever had and my olive gnocchi was amazing. I'd go again just for those gnocchi! The place was very crowded, but we were seated right away at 8pm. We will definitely be back soon!

Pros: seafood and ambiance

Cons: busy

Lack of service

by suz8

I don't know how the food is because we left before we even placed our order. The hostess who eventually sat us was either confused or concerned about something more important than us, proceeded to have a foreign conversation with the manager about where to seat us, leaving us feeling quite awkward. Once we sat down, I don't believe our server smiled once and I honestly felt like we were a nuisance to his day. I asked him one general question in which I got a lazy response that he quickly walked away from, and then when I had a specific question about the sauce included with a menu item, he basically said 'yea it has some type of sauce' and walked away... I thought he was going to get me more information, but instead blew us off to just stare at other tables. I'm not the type to complain or leave, b/c I get embarrassed. But I was in such shock by the lack of service that I just had to get up and leave. I just told the hostess 'I wasn't impressed'.

Cons: Service was just bad

freezing cold food

by kapriv

I ordered food for delivery from this restaurant last night and their food took 1 hour and 20 minutes to come. When it finally was delivered it was ice cold. It was so cold that it was disgusting. I called to complain and they said a manager would call me back but they never did. I am very disappointed in this restaurant and will never ever order from it again.

Pros: good chicken wings

Cons: very bad service

Delightful!

by glaxtitute

Went here on a Saturday night for a girls night dinner. We had 8pm reservations but the place was basically empty for some odd reason when we arrived. We got our pick of where to be seated (indoors or outdoors) and we picked a great table outdoors. Our waiter was fantastic- i wish I knew his name. He was funny and jovial with us and made a good suggest for the wine. As far as the food goes- everything was delicious! We had the steak tar tar and buffalo mozzarella special for appetizers. For entrees we had the muscles and the rackof lamb dish. Everything was superb and delicious. My mouth is stil watering for the rackof lamb dish. Service couldn't have been better or more attentive. They even moved another empty table and connected it to ours to give us a bit more room to spread out since it got a little cramped with all our dishes, glasses and bread basket on the table. The waiter even warned us when we were nearing the end of our bottle of wine! Overall would higly recommend and would definitely return.

Pros: food was amazing, very attentive service, good wine list

Cons: bathroom downstairs

Delighted with it!

by kcarm

A great place to go for people watching, for a corporate crowd after work at the bar, or for a private dinner/group dinner. Been here about 10 times in the past year and was never disappointed with the food, though occasionally service is a little too casual, but always friendly. I've never experienced rudeness, but I have had to remind them I was waiting for something. Never saw the bathroom dirty I must say, in response to reviewer below, but then she appears to be on a mission...

Pros: Atmosphere, location, outdoor cafe

Cons: Servers might be very chatty and forget to bring your water, but otherwise fine

Waiters who do not listen

by ksmittynyc

Just wanted to say that the waiters here are terrible and do not listen when they take your order. Seems like this restaurant is great as long as you don't have any specific requests--see all the reviews. Also, I thought it smelled like smoke and the barthroom was filthy.I would not eat here again. The food was just ok but overpriced.

Awesome place for an anniversary!

by aacoombs

Boyfriend and I went here on an anniversary and were completely thrilled. Very romantic. Prices were reasonable for the food we got and everything (I really do mean EVERYTHING) we ordered was amazing. The entrees were delicious but dessert I got blew my mind. Some chocolate cake thing with liquid chocolate inside. I'm definitely a "chocolate person" and this was the best. The service was great and everyone was really nice. Would definitely reccomend this place!!

Pros: awesome service, amazing food, lovely ambience

in response by manager

by rfaichney

in response to the article written by the last reviewer, i would just like to point out a couple of small facts so that people do not get the wrong idea about our restaurant.First the wine celebration had gone on for two months and the dates were clearly advertised on our web site, and on the numerous flyer we had made, the night that person came in for dinner the wine promotion had finished,i do not think we were being deceitful its just the promotion had ended,a mistake made by the customer not the restaurant, second we have 48 different bottles of wine for under $50 on our wine list plus many more under $60-$70 dollars, so $150 would be about right for a very very good bordeaux or burgundy .Third the slab of bacon the customer writes about is actually a very thin slice of crisp pancetta, placed delicatley on the dish, last of all we do not have cous cous any where on our menu. So i think that before people go on web sites slating a restaurant they really should have there facts correct.

Horrible customer service

by divina7

I have never had such a bad experience in a restaurant. I chose this restaurant on a Monday night specifically because of the "Monday Night Celebrations" advertised on the Website, and confirmed via phone when I reserved, but when we arrived, the waiter said that was no longer happening. I told the waiter i was a vegetarian/pescetarian, and said I was going to order a salad and mashed potatoes. He insisted I get the salmon (I do eat fish occasionally, but no meat). When my fish arrived, it had a huge slab of bacon on it, and the entire fish and the couscous/rice-thing underneath it were soaked in meat. The waiter made me feel bad about it and tried to joke about it. I ended up eating a salad and a dessert since I was starving. When the bill came, they charged the full amount--no compensation for the $25 salmon I didn't eat, or the fact that we only went there because of the wine night. The entire place smells like smoke and the wine lists are awful. The only way to get a decent bottle is to pay upwards of $150 (lots of terrible wines for around $30-$70). Tourists might like this place, but NYC dwellers--there are much better places to be found mere blocks away.

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: awful food, bad service

Best time in NYC....

by lynsheil

My husband and I recently visited our daughter and son-in-law in New York for Christmas and New Year. They told us they had booked Cercle Rouge for New Year's Eve and we were slightly concerned as we didn't think a restaurant would be as much fun as an Auld Year's Night back in Scotland. Well.....we had the best New Year's Eve in ages! Everything was fantastic. The service was very good, even though the restaurant was packed. The food was top notch, and the ambience was great with an amazing jazz band and show. We didn't leave until the 'wee' small hours and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, accommodating and fun. All in all, a perfect evening. We'll definitely be back next time we're in New York.

Pros: Daily specials, happening bar scene

Cons: tendency to have too many of the great B52s

Great spot

by duchead

Tribeca seems to have lots of really nice over the top places, and lots of low end dive type places. Cercle Rouge is a very refreshing compromise. The cozy restaurant serves great food, reasonable prices (let's not forget we're talking about NYC!) and a superfriendly staff that always makes you feel like home. I find myself there all the time and when I bring friends along they always ask what's good. I am always stumped because it seems the menu is so consistently good that I can't decide what to tell them. Don't miss the chicken wings though! I would highly recommend this super-chill, super-great restaurant anytime for any occassion.

Pros: Great vibe, great staff, great food - just great

Love it! Love it! Love it!

by modrzycka

Love, love, love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my neighbourhood place and I hate people who trash nice places like that down. I have been coming to Circle Rouge since it first opened two years ago. I know the menu by heart and I love everything on it. I spent my birthday there, New Years and Valentines day. And next month me and my fiance are organizing our engagement party there. By the way, you have to try their Chicken Wings - they are absolutely insane, and they are nothing you would imagine chicken wings to be!
I read the review of some guy who also was there for Valentines and I was surprised. Such a miserable, bitter cheap person! And it seems to me that after all that money he had spend, he still ended up not getting lucky with his date. I wonder why?

Great atmosphere. Attention to detail. Dishes that show passion.

by spartiatis

Cercle Rouge has become one of my favorite places to dine in the city, whether for special occasions with clients or a significant other, or casually late nights or after work for dinner and drinks at the bar. The dim lighting and decor blend for a beautiful dining atmosphere that can be both casual and upscale. The food is traditional French, but there is a greater passion in the approach to all the dishes and a pleasant creativity when it comes to their specials I've tried, i.e., tripe. For the overall experience, the cost is very reasonable. On special dates, such as Halloween (I've dropped by), Valentine's Day, etc., Cercle Rouge has taken its passion to a higher level and hasn't disappointed. In fact, the experiences for me have been very memorable. I don't see why I would choose another place on these days - I figure I will now make it a tradition of mine.

Pros: Ambiance. Good French food with creativity and passion and twists on American fare.

Cons: Hard to say. Overall, my experiences have been extremely positive.

My date and i had such a great Valentine dinner. Felt like Paris in the 30's. The jazzband was very good, the service was smooth, friendly and neat. My favorite romantic gallic downtown had an affordable prix fix specialy with what we had (Amuse bouche, foie gras, beef wellington, chocolate fondant mousse).
Thanks.

Best casual dining in Tribeca

by hagrant

I don't understand some of the negative reviews on this site - when the place first opened it had problems but there has been a new chef and team in place since I started going there in the spring of 2006 and it's been awesome since then, and keeps getting better. I live in Tribeca, and have tried pretty much every restaurant in the district, at all price ranges, and Cercle Rouge is the place I end up the most. I've always found the staff to be very friendly and very welcoming. Any time I have visitors from out of town, we always seem to end up at Cercle Rouge. During the warmer months it's a no brainer, as they have the best outdoor terrace in the area!

The food is great - as good as any I've had in any bistro in Europe. The specials of the day seem to frequently include regional French dishes - cassoulet, veal kidneys with pasta, fois gras, etc. The bar scene is a lot of fun - probably half the time I've been there I've just eaten at the bar. Everything is reasonably priced, and the wine list is pretty moderate too.

It's a bistro, not a fancy 5-star celebrity hangout, so if you want to drop the megabucks you should probably head a couple of blocks over to Bouley, Chanterelle, or wherever. If you want authentic French bistro cooking, friendly staff, and a great ambience, then you should check out Cercle Rouge.

Cheers
H.A.

P.S. I was there on Valentine's night, and it very clearly stated on the menu that the fixed-price was per person. Given the choice on offer it seemed pretty reasonable compared to other restaurants in Tribeca, and as another poster wrote, the restaurant pulled out all the stops in terms of decor, music, etc.

Pros: Ambience, Food, Friendly Staff

Cons: Bar can be crowded

Food average at best, GOT RIP OFF!!!

by starsquad

I found a special for Valentines for this restaurant here at city search. It stated $85 fix menu. I called the restaurant and ask if it was $85 per person or per couple. The lady I spoke with said it was per couple so it sounded like a decent deal, so I went I head and made reservations.

Then I ask her a second time is it $85 for 2 people and her respond was of course. So she put me in hold for a minute then came back and asked for my info. After we were completely done I asked a 3rd time so its $85 for 2 people, she said yea and sounded annoyed like you already ask me 3 times.

So I take my date to the restaurant, they sit us. We are cramp in with couples next to us literally inches away. The music was nice they had live jazz.

The food was average at best, I had the fish and it had no flavor. It was cooked to perfection but no flavor. The lobster ravioli wasn?t that great. So the food was average.

When I get the bill, guess what came out to $200 plus tip. I couldn?t believe it; I was in an awkward position. Think about it, my date is there I can?t really make a fuzz about it because is embarrassing if I do. They charge me $85 per person when I clearly confirm not once or twice but three times to be sure.

I could of had taken my date to a far better restaurant for that price. I think it was a great scheme if they did it on purpose cause you know you are not going to fight a bill on Valentines with your date there.

After I paid I ask to talk to the manager and told him that I confirm 3 times the price prior to setting up reservations. He said hell make it up to me, yea right!

In conclusion I feel I was taken advantage of, this experience did not cloud the judgment of the food. Honestly the food was not good, I would admit if it were even after this bad experience. I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody..

Pros: The atmosphere ok

Cons: Food, take advantage of you,

whats wrong with people

by rsmithy

I am a regular at cercle rouge and i was there for dinner Friday night and i was just reading a review put on here by someone who obviously was there friday night for dinner too and yes as he pointed out the there infact was a smell of smoke, which he seemed to be blaming on the restaurant, but if he checked out the facts before posting, the whole of Tribeca smelled of smoke due to a huge fire south on chambers and West broadway.I am a regular there and to be honest after reading your comments you should not go back, they dont need people like you there, its a fantastic place with wonderful staff very helpful and accomodating, stay with macdonalds or burger king, the service might suit you better there.

Pros: service, atmosphere, ambience

Cons: smell of smoke when the whole of tribeca is on fire

by finicky

I am a big fan of Le Singe Vert, so I had to try Rouge - I was not disapointed.
The food was great and the service was nice...in a french way ;-)
The Hostess (manager?) was very nice and accomodating.
The out door cafe was perfect and the interior was charming.
I highly recommend it!
I had the Sweat breads - they were cooked to perfection and the portion was large. Suprising, since specialty meats are usually doled out miserly.
I also had the Foie Gras, (sounds likes the beginnings of an offal night ;-) and it was
tender, and delectable. My date had the Tuna Tartar that was well portioned and exacuted.

Pros: cafe, decor, service

Cons: parking before 6pm

Keep Looking!

by pickyb

Twas a beautiful day when we decided to go to Cercle Rouge. I'll admit the wait staff was very helpful to accomodate our large party. However, that is the only good thing I can say about the restaurant. My friend who is a vegetarian found nothing to eat on the menu, except a caesar salad, which she chose after asking the head waiter if the chef could cook some vegetables up for her and was quickly turned down. They brought her salad out with anchovies on it. We also ordered a cheese plate which had 3 tiny pieces of cheese. When we asked why the portions were so small, he pointed out that there was fruit as well on the plate (there were two berries only!). In summation, Food was Awful and Overpriced. Waitstaff was uncreative and not so helpful. There are definitely better places down the block!

Pros: Helped seat large cro

Cons: Bad Food, Expensive Food, Tiny Portions

Wow, I dunno what day that other reviewer went but mine and wife's experience was much different. We were walking around and I saw the awning that said it was a French resturant so I had to go look. The menu looked good so me and the wife decided to have lunch, and let me tell you how incredible everything was. First off the staff was very nice. Our orders were taken promptly and we watched the servers dance to the music. I had the French-style Philly cheese steak and the wife had the lobster roll. Everything was made to perfection and was delicious. Oh, get the mousse! The prices were also extremely reasonable.

by jpmckenzie

I went here with a group of friends and had a great meal in an unexpected place. I didn't know anything about the restaurant, but when we arrived, I liked the setup immediately. It has a chic vibe and we had a drink at the bar before dinner. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. We had a nine-course meal that was filled with a variety of foods that all worked together. The wings were an unusual addition in a French bistro but maybe the best I've had anywhere. The other dishes, tuna and fois gras were fantastic. We were able to have conversation without shouting over the noise - it was a very comfortable setting. I would definitely recommend Cercle Rouge for the great food and good atmosphere.

Pros: Food, Ambience, Variety

Cons: , On the expensive side

STAY AWAY!

by puck05

Went here for brunch and it was awful! Service was slow and it took them 90 minutes just to prepare eggs. The waiter kept avoiding our table or any eye contact because he was actually embarrassed by how long the kitchen was taking. Several other tables were also complaining and left right away. My chorizo and eggs should have been advertised as potatoes and eggs, because that's all it was. The amount of chorizo I got amounted to 1 inch worth of sausage. The crab benedict had no crabmeat. I think only one burner was working and they must have a problem with their food supplier because there is no way any restaurant can operate like that.

Pros: None

Cons: slow service, missing ingredients

Cercle Rouge was such a wonderful experience in so many ways. I have been here twice and both times were amazing. The food is wonderful especially the chicken wings & the Fois Gras - never have I had Fois Gras that is so fabulous. Once we had wine pairings which was fun and once we chose our own wine - both were wonderful. The food is truly over the top and the experience is worth every penny. I live in Tribeca and I am very happy we have now a great French Bistrot around.

Tribeca Hopeful Hits Stride

by seanpadden

When first opened I had the highest of hopes. Great locale and live set up. Sit outside and enjoy the scenery, tuck yourself in back for intimacy, find a spot at the bar to eat and imbibe. Wings? Capricious yet outstanding. Lamb was also on, but service flawed, menu lacked depth. Returned to find same great set up but vastly improved menu. Snapper was aces, my wife(so fussy) raved over the bass. Apparently changed GM/chef and voila, next level. Hopes restored, bring on the spring!

Pros: Roasted Red Snapper, Saddle of Lamb, Chicken Wings

Poor planning

by mingli101

Went for Valentines day and ordered the 7-course valentines' sampler. Romantic, prompt service, nice presentation, and my date was lovely. Drawbacks? The Food! First dish tasted like bait, and I'm Chinese, so I'm used to fishy items. The second dish was OK...oysters rockafeller...but how french is that? Next...buffalo wings. Buffalo wings? What wine goes well with Buffalo wings? Following that was a plate of fois grois. The sauteed was nice, but I could have done without the poached. Then there was a fish dish. It was like a fish stick...minus the breading over some fancy sauce. Then a couple of deserts that weren't bad, but not innovative. The only thing French on the menu was the fois grois...and that is by definition French. My beautiful and charming date combined with the ambience made for a lovely evening. I just never realized ambience alone was so expensive!

Pros: ambience, service

Cons: Food, Food, Food

The staff had just the right amount of energy to make any guest feel at home. One of my worst restaurant experiences...

by kjl7415

My boyfriend and I were excited about trying this new french bistro. Unfortunately, it was not what we expected. The menu, apart from being overpriced, is very spase. It took 15 minutes to get a server to greet us, 30 minutes to get our salads and over an hour for our meals. Mine came out totally burnt and COLD! I have never sent an item back, but when I did the manager was so rude that I didn't even want a replacement. I had to complain again to get them to take it off my check. It was embarassing and unpleasant and there are too many restaurants in new york to go back.

after a few dinner at cercle rouge, I didn't understood how this restaurant was not known better than this. the dinning room was filled up, but not pack, you can go to cercle rouge have a table without waiting 1 hour like some places, have a very confortable dinner with good wine... the first night we were there Mario Batali was enjoying dinner with Joaquin Phoenix and others friends...
Cercle rouge is definitely an address to keep in mind...

Pros: certain standart, easy parking, trendy crowded

service is iffy and food was oddly priced

by whlrep

i kind of expected iffy service given it's a new restaurant. i did not expect the menu to be so oddly and over-priced. there are a few selections that are reasonable but the a la carte menu (what they call their 1-2-3 menu) is ridiculously overpriced - $40 for a small sirloin when you have to pay for each side individually at $6 each is steep for a bistro in my opinion. they were also offering dover sole for $42 which i found to be almost silly. ambience is typical bistro - noisy, bustling and fun. i will probably go back just to see if they sorted out their issues as the food was decent but if everything remains status quo, not a chance. shame given the great location.

Pros: decent food, good ambience

Cons: overpriced, spotty service, out of most wines

Casually Upscale

by daveoconnornyc

Nice decor with a good buzz in the room. Outstanding patio. Food is good- not love the homemade steak sauce- nice wine list. Cheese plate was a great choice for dessert. Looking forward to returning.

Great Find!

by sonnynyc2

I had a great meal, they serve the best chicken wings I have ever had, it was a toss up between chicken wings or oysters and I am glad I tried the wings they are like nothing I have ever had before (trust me), I had the Steak and the sauce was excellent, very nice atmosphere and a great vibe, I will definately return.

Pros: ambience, food

Been there twice - always think worth a second try if food is good. I definitely liked the vibe in the restaurant - the food is good with enough variety to please everyone - i'd say the portions were quite skimpy where it counts - meat whether fish or steak- and for those prices this is very irksome. Perhaps it's early and they will improve but service is VERY slow - took a good 25min for waiter to take our order on both visits and the second time I was one of three tables at a 5:30pm reservation so not like it was busy. The watchful manager /owner standing right over our table seemed oblivious to this delay and when I mentioned it to him, it seemed to roll off like butter on a warm croissant. The attitude could go.

Best spot in Tribeca

by gscottnyc

Comfortable with a good elegant vibe. Fantastic patio for people watching, lots of space inside for groups of friends without losing its intimate appeal, and perfect for a date. The staff is quite charming and really makes the experience. They seem to make a lot of introductions as well which gives it a friendly social air as people seem comfortable and relaxed as they mingle outside their immediate group. They could work on their desserts but otherwise the food is excellent and they really know their wine list.

Pros: Romantic, Good Vibe, Social

They Can do Better

by foody16

Cool space; baked clams appetizer was great.Host was very nice. We order the Cote de Beuf ($55 for 2 people). We ordered the beef medium rare. The beef was terrible. Very overcooked and dry. The fries were soggy and tasteless. In my opinion, a french bistro has to nail steak and fries. The creamed spinach was watery and bland. The aspargus were good. Someone else ordered the salmon with sides of vegetables. That dish looked very good. When the waitress asked us if we liked the steak, we politely told her the truth. She was apologetic but of course didn't do anything like send the manager over or comp us dessert or an after dinner drink. Our bill come to just under $400 for 4 people with w/ 2 bottles of decent wine. I also didn't like the fact that the bartender didn't know much about the beer on tap.
