Jean Madeline Aveda Institute

I'm a current student at Jean Madeline and have been in the program since november. Everything horrible about the school starts showing its ugly head around the second week. My freshman teacher was unbearably bitchy and lazy. We learned mostly through dvd's and if the dvd didnt work she'd sigh as if it was a huge hassle for her to have to demo the procedure herself. She would sit at the computer googling things and reading news and such all day while we sat there and blow dried over and over relentlessly. Not to mention we recently found out once we moved up to the Junior 1 level that she taught us the INCORRECT way to blow dry. She also taught us the incorrect way to do some other things. She was always too busy on the computer to actually go through and check our haircuts, colors, styles, and blow drys, so now that we're all up on the clinic floor working on the public we arent NEARLY as good as we should be. Every day i watch someone screw something up and no one says anything about it. For the amount that i paid to go there ( around 20g's without loan interest) the education is PITIFUL. Not to mention if you miss hours you have to pay for them. ( regardless of whether or not you have a doctor/hospital note). Our kit was $1000 and full of cheap equipment which just keeps having to be replaced, and in general i feel like a jerk for ever letting these people talk me into going to this school. If you care about your education, or your hair, DO NOT GO HERE.

This place is small and cramped, dirty, and the students and teachers are more interested in socializing than providing good customer service. My haircut was extremely uneven and the teacher refused to acknowledge it. It took me 3 months to grow my hair out to a point that was salvageable. I recommend going to the Jean Madeline in West Philly. It's new, clean, and the staff and students are very friendly! I got my best haircut there.
