Disgusting, so my little tiny flies almost fleas on my salad - complained, waitress did nothing.

Paid a visit to the Stone Street area when I was showing some friends around some tourist sites (the Bull, World Trade, and South St) Decided to stop by my old stomping ground, Stone Street. It was unseasonably warm for February and the street was mobbed with people anxious to shed their winter coats. We arrived around 7 and were able to get a table by the window. The server was fantastic. Very friendly and talked with us for a while about New York and the area. She suggested the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which I got, my friends got the Special Tavern Burger and these cute little risotto balls, the other one got some salad and a margarita. The food was fantastic. No complaints. The truffle made the lobster mac. The burger looked amazing. The salad was, well salad. Not a salad fan.
It was a great pit stop. And the vibe was very chill. Dim lights, nice upbeat music, and tv's.

Really great experience here. Read a lot of mixed reviews, but I work in the area so I decided to check it out with some friends. Our server was amazing, very fast and friendly. (and easy on the eyes :))
Food was above average for the street. Well prepared with a nice presentation. Everything was seasoned properly. I had the Lobster mac n cheese, lots of lobster and truffle oil. Loved it. My buddies mostly got burgers and sandwiches, but they all seemed to enjoy.
The atmosphere is cozy. Very low light, but comfortable. Good music and just a nice vibe. we made reservations to come back for super bowl.

This really is my go to place at wkends, much more chilled and much better food than the other bars on the street. I always find myself going for brunch which usually turns into early evening drinks. Stuffed French Toast and Eggs Capresse are awesome. For some reason other restaurants on the street are lacking on their brunch menu but Stone Street Tavern really have a good, varied brunch menu. Service has always been great and the staff are always friendly and attentive...my male friends always love to come and oogle over the staff!

                    Pros: Great service

                    .

We wanted to show our friends a good time and have always enjoyed the Stone Street Tavern. On this Saturday it wasn't particularly busy, so we looked forward to a nice dinner. The waitress took her sweet time taking our drink order, the drinks took 15 minutes to get to the table and the meal another half an hour. After an initial check, the waitress never came back to check on drink/water refills. One of our guests had to flag down a busboy for a second round of water and drinks. The place seemed to be in slow motion and automatic pilot. After getting out of there, having been served a charred steak and underdone vegetables, we walked around Stone Street and observed the lively business other places were enjoying. We understood why after this experience. In fairness they did take the charred steaks off the tab. They will not see us again. There are too many other places to frequent in the area that seem to have more pride in their food and service.

Pros: located in a fun neighborhood, chairs are sturdy

Cons: indifference to customers, careless food preparation

                    .

I've never written a review before, but I couldn't get over how awful this place treated its customers. I had to get it out there. Please don't go. Rudest waitresses ever. Then they sneak in a tip on the weekends because they know how bad the service is. Will never, ever, ever go back.

After a heavy night of drinking, three friends and I were starving and decided to wander to Stone Street Tavern for brunch. What was supposed to be a nice Sunday afternoon meal turned into one of the most stressful brunch experiences I've ever had.

We walked in at 12:05. We were seated immediately, and since we were hungry due to mild hangovers, we ordered our drinks and food right away.

Then we noticed a large group of about 25 people seated in the back. They were extremely rude and inconsiderate; you couldn't help but stare at them and be ashamed for humanity. They were constantly ordering the waitresses around, admonishing them in front of customers, and applauding sarcastically when the food was brought out. It seemed that there was only one person serving food and the restaurant was understaffed. We really felt for the waitresses, who all seemed to be working hard.

But our feelings of sympathy gradually dissipated as we waited...and waited...and waited. After about an hour, one of my friends approached the manager (or who we thought was the manager) and asked her about our order. During the entire hour, no one came to update us on the status or apologize for the long wait. Granted, they were taking care of the large, rude group, but still. Others in the restaurant were becoming increasingly frustrated as well.

Finally, after my friend spoke with the manager, our food arrived. It was nothing to write home about, but at least it was warm and they got the order right.

What prompted me to write this review was the fact that our bill came out to $58 (excluding tip), and we noticed that they had the gall to add the gratuity, which they calculated as $12.60. Not only is this more than 20%, it was never mentioned on the menu that the tip would be included. We didn't want to tip more than 20%, especially after waiting for our food for over an hour while being completely ignored by the staff. We actually had to tell the manager that the tip was too much.

After saying gratuity is automatically added on weekends with parties of "more than 4" (there were just 4 of us) and that all they do is "press a button to calculate the tip," the "manager for the day" told us that "someone jacked my calculator" and that's why the mistake was made. Yeah, okay. We ended up having to tip the 20% for the crappy service and an inattentive staff and wondered how many customers they duped into tipping more than 20%.

The entire experience eating there on the whole was appalling, frustrating, and ridiculous. I'd highly suggest going elsewhere for brunch in the Financial District.

OMG, What a disappointment. Was really looking forward to eating here, but be warned the service can be TERRIBLE. Our waitress was possibly the rudest person I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Our food order came out, and was completely wrong - thats ok, I understand mistakes can be made - but she did not apologize at all when we told her what was wrong, at that point I felt compelled to leave - and we did just that. Shame, the food looked great, but again I cannot understate the rudeness and lack of professionalism we experienced here.

This bar is a gem downtown. There are a few good places on Stone Street but The Tavern stands out for its unique personality and friendly atmosphere. The service is consistently good (and good looking!). Love hanging out here after work.

Have you ever been to Stone street? This hidden street in lower Manhattan is paved with cobblestones. In the summer it becomes a raucous after work party when the closed off street is open to bars and restaurants that offer outside seating. This bar/restaurant in particular is great, whether you are looking to grab a quick lunch or sit down at the bar for an after work drink.

Went on a saturday night to watch the game and have a couple. The bartender was cool, put the game we wanted on right away(there was like 4 other people in there) .We had wings which were very good, and mini burgers which were not so good.Stick to the regular burger-I've had it before and it's good. It's quiet on the weekend, which is kind of nice, and the staff is pretty cool.

Having recently discovered this hidden little gem on stone street Ive returned many times. It appears to be the only spot on the block (which is full of bars and restaurants) to have any personaility and a cosy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and food is consisently good-especially the salmon! Even though this neighbourhood is populated with bars full of wall streeters and their egos Stone Street Tavern is refreshingly different and unintimadating. Well worth checking out!

I visted This Place about a week ago the menu is thought out and refreshing
and the sandwiches are super creative and delicious. Service needs some work but the duck confit sandwich and the lobster quesidella made up for it. Thank you for making a Tuesday lunch so good. We will return again and again.
