I used to consider Molly's my favorite bar in Gramercy. However, after tonight I will never go there again. I took a friend of mine there to hang out after work. However, the bartender refused to serve my friend when he went up to order our drinks. The bartender claimed my friend's ID was fake. My friend and I are both over 21, and my friend is one of the most polite fellows you will ever meet. I went to talk with the bartender and explain the ID mix up, but he refused to serve me as well. He ignored my explanation, even when I said that I?d been to Molly?s several times this past summer. The bartender simply cut me off and told me to leave.

As a young, female student in NYC I am always aware of my age and gender, and the assumptions people make about me. But I have never been treated with such disrespect at a bar. I don?t know if was because of my age, my gender, or my race, but I'm absolutely sickened by what happened tonight, and I ask anyone who reads this to please not go to this bar.

My sister and I were staying in the area for the weekend, and went looking for a place to get a quiet drink before our dinner reservations, and stumbled across Molly's. Having the same namesake it clearly was fate. The place is fantastic! Semi-dark, relaxed atmosphere, the perfect place to have a couple of beers and wind down. We went back the next night and the bartender remembered not only that we were in there the night before, but what we had been drinking-and it's always great when there is smithwicks on tap!

Sawdust on the floor, dark but warm, great burgers and wide selection of beer make this one of the best bars in NYC. Whenever I am in the neighborhood I stop by and I always recommend this place to friends.

saw dust on the floor, holiday lights that rarely gets taken down, wooden booths worn from decades of use just make the already really good shepherd's pie and bangers & mash much better. a standard.

I ate here with my cousin one day and just loved it. The thing I love about the city is how many dining choices we have. Found Molly's by accident - and couldn't have been happier. Excellent Shepard's Pie - my cousin had the corned beef. Delicious - not pretentious at all, very down to earth and friendly.

Ducked in on the first hot day of New York spring. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and I wanted some sun, but I also wanted a proper Guinness. Inside it was black as a midnight street lit by lamplight. But it was so cozy, so calm and cool in there, and the staff so welcoming, that I decided to take a short break from the blare of the street, shuffling among the wood shavings strewn over the floor, climb onto a stool at the bar and satiate my thirst. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but the interior is really magical - transports you beyond the Atlantic...
And of course, most importantly, a well-poured Guinness and good fish and chips.
Not too busy and yet a good crowd. A perfect respite.

What a treat, it feels like you're in a proper pub in Ireland.
A fine pint of Guinness, the most generous JD and Cokes ever, wonderful food and a warm welcome from the barman.
A real eclectic mix on the jukebox makes it a top boozer.

This place has a great atmosphere. At times you will really think your drinking a pint somewhere in the Old Country. People here were very friendly and the food was good also.

I love Molly's. It is our neighborhood burger spot. You will not be disappointed. Molly's serves one of the best burgers in Manhattan (the other one being Pipers Kilt in Inwood).

In addition, the steaks are excellent and the prices good. And if you like beer battered, greasy onion rings, this is the place for you. The bartenders are experienced and welcoming and the waitresses just wonderful.

Molly's is the real deal-not some corny wanna be Irish joint.

T^his is the type of place Wineturtle thinks of when you say Irish Pub Food.The Berger is a platefull with real hand cut fries that do not need Heinz to make them good. Ask Jimmy to tell you the story of the Around Long Island Sailboat Race he was in, its a real hoot!!!!Wheres Nick? Lunch time is slow enough to pry out a tale from the Old Sod. Irish Cofee by the Woodburning Hearth(wineturtle once found a Ducco-flame Log in it Shame,Shame, Shame) It like home by the third visit,so go for Lunch,Dinner,And Last Call(always 4AM) and your a regular.

...make your way to Molly's for a burger or shepherd's pie, because both are among the best in the City. Let's not include the fois gras and kobe burgers. (Note: Corner Bistro is good, but not this good.) The place is authentic, from one of the best pints of Guinness (others: Ear Inn, Paddy Reilly's, Swifts), a solid wait-staff, and all the way down to a well-worn fireplace.
If only every neighborhood had a pub like this.

Yes, it's pretty much what you would expect, given the editorial review, and that's not such a bad thing. Fish and chips are great, but sheperd's pie is probaby the best rendition I've had in a long time. Could see where it would be a truly neighborhood bar if not for the occasional loud group meeting there. Still, not bad for food and atmosphere if you're the laid back type.

If your tired of country club food at new car prices and could care less about rubbing elbows with the beautiful people then this is the place for you. Sawdust on the floor, great food, and Guinness on tap. What else is there.

The food is hearty, fresh and, if nothing else, boldly-seasoned (i.e., gourmet palates may take offense). If you want to sit down and get a big and spice-laden hunk o chopped sirloin, covered by a big slab o cheese, and accompanied by crisp fries, you come here. The Guinness is fresh but could be pulled better (easy on the head there, boy-o). The service can be gruff at times, a bit absent-minded, but ultimately accomodating. Lastly, if you dont mind the smoke from the bar and the close quarters, its a great place.
