What can I say I love this place and it is fun once you get past the hard work of working out.
I have been a marathon runner for year and I have done a lot of different sports and I have to say at 42 this place is the best work out for me.
love it.

Very motivational program. Although I haven't lost a whole lot of weight, I've lost alot of inches and have increased my energy and stamina. A great concept for the fitness challenged. I've never had a desire to work out. I always had a million excuses not to go. Ever since I joined Pure Power I can't wait until my next session! The workouts are fun and challenging and leave me wanting more. Thank you Pure Power!

I joined thinking this was the best thing in the world. I went consistently for 4 months. I loved the workout, loved the friends I made, and the challenge. But after a while all that changed. (Before you continue reading please know this was written by someone who doesn??t even click the stars on Netflix to rate a movie after watching. It took sincere disgust with this place for me to muster up the energy to type this review for others.)

The Staff: Expect to be greeted by a young girl at reception who has a major attitude no matter how smiley or nice you are to her, and all she does is sit and text or talk on the phone! The "Marines" aren't really Marines, nor licensed pt's! So the adverts are lies. Expect them to play favorites with the more attractive recruits (I'm not ugly by far so that's not why I'm saying this, I just don't agree with that kind of treatment, we're all there for the same thing). Their idea of motivation was really just yelling in your face and not paying too much attention to what you??re capable of doing, even if you??re sincerely not capable they scream or physically put their hands on you. And on occasion you can find them standing around talking sh*t about the owner, or even texting. They don??t separate abilities accordingly, they??ll have you with people far beyond, or below, your physical capabilities. The owner is NEVER there. She taught ONE class I attended, and I went 4 days a week for 4 months. Don't expect her to call you back after she gets your money either. She is seemingly nice but trust me all she??s concerned with is? not you. Check her credentials, she worked on Wall Street then went into theatrics in an off Broadway show for a little while ?? both those career paths include acting and bs??n for money.

The Facility: Is disgusting. The showers are dirty and there's roaches/water bugs. One of the two showers didn't work properly for a good 2-3 months I was there. The mats you're forced to lay on are slimy and covered with others' sweat which makes it impossible to hold a position when your hands are sliding all over the place - but believe me you will still get yelled at for this. The obstacle course is lined with rubber pieces which home lost hair bands, gum, and band-aids! The grips are worn off the equipment so when you add sweaty hands to wood you have a serious injury risk. The area you??re given to run circles in is not safe at all. You have people trying to run faster, or slower, and you need to watch out if they decide to pass you in a very narrow passage. There were also numerous pipe leaks while I attended which left puddles on the floor right where you had to run. Lastly, don??t expect a warm welcome when you first arrive, you??re lucky if someone even notices a new person to even make you feel comfortable your first day.

If Injured: Don't expect ANY attention. If you get hurt they will offer to freeze your membership for a year, but that??s it. I got seriously injured with appropriate documentation and couldn??t continue, my injury is reoccurring so even after a year it can be triggered, yet I still ended up having to go to court to get my money back and it took me almost a year to collect on the judgment. (I am currently healing very well and am able to jog and jump rope.)

Conclusion: Too much money for such horrible services. I strongly recommend you do your homework and find a better facility, there??s plenty. More and more people are providing the same services with better ethics and safer surroundings. PPBC even had some trainers leave to start their own facility - why leave if this place is that great? I understand my negative review is the minority but I??d like you to be aware that THEY SEND OUT EMAILS TO CLIENTS OFFERING FREE SESSIONS IF THEY WRITE POSITIVE REVIEWS - I have received them myself. Good luck to you all, if you do or don??t join PPBC. If my review helps just one person avoid this place I will be happy.

I started PPBC on a groupon and have now been doing this for 5 months. The program is intense, crazy intervals with a lot of cardio and just enough strength training. I have gotten amazing results and after 5 months and it has not gotten any easier. The drill sgts motivate you to push yourself harder and are aware of your potential which is really great when you start to feel like giving up. I even did the Spartan Race last month which I would have never, ever, in a million years have thought to attempt before PPBC made me stronger, more confident and more driven. Some of the obstacles in the mud race were similar to the ones in the ppbc facility! This is a great all-around workout that will make you look incredible and make you feel invincible!

Pure Power Boot Camp has to be the best thing that's ever happened to me. 3 months in and I'm approaching my goal weight. It's been a long stretch for me to lose weight and I'm finally getting somewhere! Their program is like no other and pushes you to the max without making you feel bad in anyway, their instructors are great and motivating and their facility is immaculate with a standby cleaning person! If it wasn't for Pure Power I would still be an unhappy chubby girl still.

I didnt really think that PPBC could get more intense, but it just did. I am so sore!! I have been a recruit for a while but the new place is kicking my butt. The new gym is at a more central location and easier for me to get to than the place on 21st. I am also really happy that there are now lockers available and I dont need to bring a lock in. congrats on the move!!

I loved my experience at PPBC! I went while training for my first ever triathlon and it helped a ton! Ever one who works there was always friendly and helpful to me. I was really motivated by their strict military style. It helped to make sure I never missed a session.

I had wanted to give ZERO stars...

I bought a Groupon for 6 sessions at PPBC, with full knowledge that a reservation for each session was required. What I was not aware of, was that the receptionist Frances was going to hassle, nay, harass me about making all 6 reservations at one time in advance. I was told I could not redeem my Groupon unless I committed to all 6 sessions in advance. Then, when something came up at work and I could not make it to one session, I lost the session, no questions asked, because I had not given them warning that I was not going to make it. Fair enough. They are militant about scheduling because they are modeled after the "real military."

Unfortunately, they hold themselves to a far different standard when it comes to giving their clients notice of changes in THEIR schedule. The facility is closed next Monday and Tuesday in order to relocate. As a customer who had scheduled a session that Monday, I was not told by anyone that I wouldn't be able to go that day because the facility would be closed. I was not told at the time I scheduled my session, nor was I told when Frances rudely called me to inform me that I had lost a session for failure to give them proper notice that I would be unable to make it. I found out by word of mouth (a friend who also goes to PPBC). When I spoke to Frances about this, she curtly told me that I would be able to make up the session and had simply no response when I asked if and when I would be informed about this matter.

Yes, I signed up for a "Military style" workout. That doesn't mean I signed up to be treated like a POW over the phone by a b*tchy and dim-witted receptionist.

The workout was a good one, but if they want to keep their customers they need to learn when to cut the Army act and remind themselves that they are still a NYC membership based gym facility. Clients need to be treated with respect. Frances is disgusting.

Pure Power classes are awesome. such an amazing workout and great way to stay in shape. I saw on buwyithmeNYC that you can get three weeks of bootcamp classes at Bootcamp Republic for just $137 right now. The deal seems to good to pass up. Do any of you know anything about how these classes are in comparison to Pure? Please let me know. Here's the link if you want to check the deal out for yourself: htp://bit.ly/daKTlz

The fact that anyone would go somewhere other than Pure Power is out of their mind. The owner, the facility, the commitment, all fist class.

No monotony of stairs arrogant trainers, or obstacles on the cheap.

This is the sickest workout on the planet and by far the most fun----POWER UP PURE POWER

I used to see the advertisements for Pure Power Boot Camp in the taxi cabs everyday as I was going to work. (Before all the imitators started advertising the same way) All I could think was, "I wanna try that!"...Well, I did. And I haven't stopped since. This place provides the best total body workout you could ever get in this city. I have been a member of every gym, taken dozens of classes, and boot camp has by far given me the best shape and strength of my life. Did I mention I did Martial Arts for over ten years???...I ran my first half marathon in January and am running the NYC Marathon in November under their training. Aside from a few bumps and bruises, not to mention extra laundry, (wearing a uniform means laundry twice a week instead of once), this place is worth every penny!!

Yes, it's intense and yes, my body began to get into shape. But this was at the cost of having one of the trainers grapple with me if I didnt do something right. At first I thought it was good for training and reflex. But in my 8th week, he threw me on the ground and pinned me down. I felt a sharp pain in the back of my thigh. He told me to walk it off and continue. (As a trainer, I later learned that he needed to instruct me to stop activity and rest immediately.) I could barely walk for 3 weeks. I never went back and couldnt even exercise for a long time afterwards. The little benefit I received from the intense workout all went to pot. Thanks!

These negative reviews are a joke. I have been a member of Pure Power Boot Camp for over two years now and am in the best shape of my life!! There isn't a facility in this city that can touch what PPBC brings to the table. I've even been witness to gym instructors and teachers from OTHER boot camp schools taking our classes!! You don't spy on a class to waste your time AND money unless it rocks!! And yes, we rock!...(Brushing our shoulder off...) Granted, you might get a little dirty along the way, but that comes with the territory when you are working out as intensely as we are. Sorry Mr. Lacrosse & Ms. Dashing Diva....If you're afraid of a little bruise or breaking a nail then this class might not be for you. Pure Power is about challenging yourself. It??s about building your mind and body beyond your previous levels of fitness. The entire staff has amazing energy and has challenged me to reach and even surpass my fitness goals. The owner rocks too because she not only teaches classes, but she takes them with us!! And over 90% of the people who sign up for the Tour of Duty wind up re-signing. I knew by my fourth class that I wasn't leaving unless they kick me out!! This environment is family based and everyone works together to make our experience as amazing as possible, as often as possible. And yes, that includes writing reviews such as THIS one on Citysearch as well as referring our friends to PPBC as we spread the word. Don't listen to any negativity people. If you're interested in benefitting from a workout beyond anything you have experienced, don't take my word for it, head down and check out the class for yourself.

Actually Frank, that previous poster is not lying, as I received the e-mail as well. Here is the exact text:

FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS, BE ONE OF THE FIRST 15 PEOPLE TO WRITE AN AMAZING REVIEW ON PURE POWER BOOT CAMP ON EITHER CITYSEARCH OR YELP AND RECEIVE 2 FREE SESSIONS!

Don't get me wrong, I like the workout at PPBC, but this absolutely reeks of impropriety. How are consumers supposed to trust third-party websites when you have business owners polluting them with promises of freebies for "amazing" reviews?

Anyway.... about Pure Power. Awesome workout. I went there for about 4 months and saw great results. It's a full hour of gut busting military style training. If you don't lose weight and gain muscle, you aren't trying. Honestly, I would still be there if:

- the place wasn't a pig sty (as previously mentioned)
- I could lock up my belongings like every other gym I have ever been to
- the lady behind the desk wasn't so overly rude and unhelpful

For the exorbitant price, I don't think the above are too much to ask

The last review is such an embarrassment and such a lie. THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED. I have been a client for the last 6 months at Pure Power Boot Camp and I was in class when a few people in class were raving about the program and complimenting the owner and other two drill instructors in class with us. The owner said she appreciated the compliments and feedback and would love for us to spread the word. A fellow recruit suggested that we post our love for PPBC on such websites as Citysearch. In a joking way, (since we are all a family in Pure Power), I suggested we should all get free sessions for spreading our obsession. It??s an absolute pity, that people only pull out negativity from things and blow things out of proportion. You shouldn??t write things if you don??t know the facts and if you didn??t like it at Pure Power Boot Camp its evident because you??re negativity would not be welcomed here. We are a strong platoon. If you are looking for a spa, go to the Ritz-Carlton.

Being a business woman in NY city I love it when I find another woman that inspire's me.
www.purepowerbootcamp.com
I have been taken boot camp for a couple of weeks and love it.
I often hear the words in the salon is there a real Alice and yes there is and today I worked out with lauren and her heart and soul was in every push up and bench up or whatever the lingo is for getting fit.
Getting fit is one thing but working out as a team and in my army gear and pushing excise to a new level is a lot of fun it really is.
I enjoy my life and this to me is a great way to start your day!!!
Words that she uses
Honor. Trust. Respect. Integrity. Duty. Loyalty. Power. Courage. dignity. Wisdom . Pride. Pure

Although the workout is a good one, the place itself is extremely filthy. I could only imaging what type of germs the mat and the area where the obstacle course is has. I can't imagine it being that expensive to change the mat every month or put something down that doesn't absorb and hold everyone's sweat and germs.

A friend of mine recommended Pure Power about a year ago..she looks amazing, so i figured it was time to give it a try. I'll admit I was terrified when i walked in - but I walked out feeling better than I ever had before!! The instructors will work you until you are about to fall over...and then a little more...and when you're done, you realize just what your body can do. I went for 3 weeks, and every day was completely different. Unfortunately, I got hurt (NOT THERE!!!!)..so i'm on hiatus until I recover...but they could not have been more helpful or understanding of my time away. Here is the amazing thing....Lauren Brenner called me today to make sure I am ok -- and to wish me a speedy recovery. OK -- has the owner of NY Sports Club or ANY OTHER NYC gym EVER called a client who wasn't there for a few days?? Not at all likely!!! I've been so angry that i'm not able to go to my bootcamp....and have been working so hard to heal quickly to get back there -- and if there was ANY DOUBT in my mind about just how amazing this place is....that phone call today most certainly erased it!!! I cannot wait to get back there!!!! Every person I have met that is a member NEVER just signs up for one package. By the 4th day I was there, I knew this is where I would be working out from now on. SIGN UP NOW! It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself....It certainly was for me! I saw results after the first week...i looked better, i felt better, i had more energy, my stamina had improved, and i found myself taking better care of myself (eating better..etc)! This place is life changing!

Pros: Amazing instructors, fast results, NEVER boring

Cons: Not one!!!!

I came in to Pure Power in terrible shape. No cardio or workouts for a few years and was terrified of the idea of "boot camp"...

Much to my surprise i was met by instructors (former military) who pushed and worked me in the best ways possible. I was safe, motivated, and EXHAUSTED.

It's truly tailored to any and all body types and fitness levels. Expect results right away.

Absolutely love it and can't say enough good things about it - I heard about it forever ago and was dying to try it. I started off with the two week groupon last winter and before the the two weeks were up I knew that I wanted to keep going. I've worked out my whole life and never been challenged like this...I've been going 3-4 times a week since last January and while it's gotten somewhat easier and I definitely feel stronger I still leave feeling like I've had an awesome workout and drenched in sweat!!! And I have to say even on other days when I run, spin etc I still don't feel as good afterwards as I do with this. And the instructors are great guys, they may yell a little but that's what pushes you to go outside your comfort zone unlike the guy at the gym who's putting me to sleep while he's counting to 10. And obviously the cherry on top is that my body has changed in ways I didn't think possible!!!

As a long-time client of Pure Power Boot Camp, I must say that after almost three years of attending classes regularly (3X per week), this workout pays off. Not only has it kept my interest during all these months, but it also continues to challenge me on a day-in, day-out basis. The routines always vary slightly from day-to-day, and there is literally "never a dull moment" in this class. This gym is for all different types: the bride who wants to shed pounds quickly before the big day, the couch potato who has never worked out before in his/her life, the casual runner who wants to get in shape before a big 10K, etc. The instructors are there to help and motivate you 24/7 and will not let you slack no matter how much you try. They are skilled at what they do, and are great at judging different fitness levels and customizing your workout to suit you!

Doing Pure Power Boot Camp was the best decision I have ever made. I saw results right away and it challenged me more than any other work out I have ever done. I seriously recommend it for anyone who is looking to get in shape and needs some extra motivation.

Pure Power Boot Camp has been a great experience for me. Its a constant challenge, and never gets boring. The instructors are 100% committed to every class. In 2.5 years, I've never once felt like they weren't entirely engaged or were just going through the motions. (I only wish I was that "on" at my job every day!)
Pure Power works! I have become stronger, I have become slimmer, and I manage the stress of daily life much better.

If you are looking for one of the absolute greatest workouts look no further. I have been an avid gym member since 1993 and a total sports nut most of my life and I have yet to find a workout that is as challenging interesting and all around intense as this place.

I have been coming for over a year now and the results are amazing - you don't need to be a supreme athlete either to enjoy this place just need to have the desire to get in the best shape of your life.

You get what you put in so stop by and give them a try you won't regret it!!

NOW DROP DOWN AND GIVE ME TEN!!!

I have been going to Pure Power Boot Camp for 3 years now. I originally thought I would just do it for 6 weeks to get into shape. But once I saw the results Ibought another package, and then another, etc. You will never get a better workout in your life. And people always ask me "Do I need to be in good shape to do this?". The truth is the class has people of all sizes and physiques, and the trainers do a great job of making it work for everyone. I highly recommend this. You would not be disappointed!

If you're looking for a terrific, fast paced workout that gives you the most of every minute (there is no wasted time here), Pure Power Boot Camp is for you! The instructors are high energy, no non-sense former military who really get you going. This is a tough, yet encouraging environment. The the kicker.... instructors are all beautiful!

PPBC truly transforms your body. Just give it 3 months, and you will have your best body ever! I have seen terrific results, and I have the team at PPBC to thank! You have nothing to lose but excess weight - and you feel GREAT! There is no better way to start or end your day...

Imagine a workout where you do jumping jacks to raise your heart rate and maybe at the end to lower your heart rate. Each day has a different concentration, be it abs, arms, legs but you can count on challenging every muscle every time. I can not say enough good things about the program and the staff. Sans the cost, which might not fit all budgets, I was surprised to read negative reviews. I have attended small classes and large classes and find both hour workouts equally challenging. No matter the size of the class everyone is kept busy all of the time and when it is time to go to the rock wall for sit-ups at the end of the class you know that you have been pushed to your limits and will feel great.

I started the beginning of March after seeing how well my son's conditioning improved from the program. I have exercised most of my adult life, lifting weights, running, basketball, yoga, boxing, and so on, and continue to do so, but other than boxing, nothing comes close to the conditioning Pure Power Boot Camp provides, and this is a more well rounded exercise. The instructors quickly learn your limits, really care about your training level and see to it that you push yourself to your limits. They will help you overcome any hurdle, pun not intended, you are experiencing. All exercises are individually adjusted based upon your current condition and, as you quickly progress you will notice being better able to complete the exercises. Rumor has it those things I see under my rib cage are stomach muscles-so thanks Lauren and the guys.

I give PPBC 3 stars to average out a 5-star workout with 1-star customer service.

I joined PPBC almost two years ago, when I was a pudgy benchwarmer. Now, thanks to consistent boot camp attendance, I have transformed myself into a rippling beast of untamed sexual fire. The instructors know exactly how to push you out of your comfort zone and test the very upper limits of your stamina and strength. You can't do pushups right now? You will. Can't do pullups? You will. Hate to run? You're gonna have to. A lot. So the results will come and come fast.

PPBC is not cheap though, although I do not think it is priced disproportionately. It's more expensive than a gym membership but less expensive than a personal trainer, which I think makes sense. The truly disappointing factor in the administration though is the archaic manner in which your classes are tracked. There isn't a monthly membership fee; you buy a package of classes (standard is 24, but you can buy more or less). You then set up a schedule and they put it in their system. If you don't show up to class without cancelling in advance, you lose that session. This is perfectly fair, and it would work if only they could follow their policy with any degree of consistency. The problem is that, when you do cancel (and it's gonna happen - you'll get sick, have a business trip, etc.) you are relying on the person behind the desk to remember to take your name out on the computer. They have FREQUENTLY failed to do this for me, causing me to lose out on sessions without my knowledge. I have only been able to salvage a few of them thanks to perceptive friends in the class who have called me to say "hey, your name was on the class list today even though you said you cancelled." I know that's a long-winded example, but when you're dealing with such an expensive investment, you'd like to have the security of knowing you have everything you paid for coming to you. And I, along with many of my other boot campers, have none of that security. For the sake of a good workout, we have grudgingly come to accept that we're going to be cheated out of our money.

Happy squat thrusting!

Before I joined PPBC, I used to "donate" money toward monthly gym memberships which I hardly ever used. I always had the right intentions, but I would get to the gym and either use the weights and stop after 5-10 minutes due to pure cluelessness and insecurities OR I would hop on a treadmill and walk while everyone else around me was running. After 15 minutes of this, I wound up leaving since I was bored and self-conscience! I would wind up leaving feeling guilty and depressed.

I joined PPBC for the first time June 2008. It was a few months before my wedding and I wanted to lose some weight. I spoke with Lauren B (Owner) when I signed up and she told me, "No pain no gain!" Let me tell you - she was right!! On my first day there, it was hot and while running around the track, I was crying on the inside since I believed I had just wasted money as I was NEVER COMING BACK! Of course, I stayed and it was WELL WORTH IT - the best thing I ever did! The first two weeks were definitely rough. My body was so out of shape that I needed to hold onto the walls while walking down the stairs in my house. My husband laughed, but was generally sincere when he suggested I not go back. He was afraid I would hurt myself! I stuck it out and I am happy that I did. The classes are great and intense. I leave there knowing that I had the best workout ever. I even started running 5Ks! A huge feat as I never ran before bootcamp!

The trainers are tough, but you can tell that they really want you to succeed. One day, I had a really bad day at work and after class, the trainer pulled me aside to ask me if I was ok. He said he noticed that I wasn't myself and that he just wanted to check in to see if everything was ok. He told me to forget everything else and to give myself the hour - blocking all the stresses of the day out. It was the best advice and it really is the best place for a fantastic workout!!

Pure Power Boot Camp is the best thing I ever did for myself. I joined back in February 2008. I never worked out before, and went in cold turkey. I felt I needed to be pushed and motivated. I joined without ever seeing the gym, just the brouchure. Called Lauren the owner, who is truely Amazing! Signed on, and when I started, my husband gave me a week and said I wouldn't last. Boy was he wrong and truely satisfied with my results. It is now over 2years I have been going and loving it. It is an amazing workout. The first week I started, I was in alot of pain, and thought I pulled every muscle in my body, my husband was laughing at me because it even hurt when I would laugh. I took hot baths and advil, and kept going the 1st week. I did not stop. I went for 4 days and worked through it. The second week was still hard, by the 3rd week, I knew I loved it. I saw results after the first 6 weeks. I now have gone down from a size 8 to a size 2. I would have butterflies in my stomach every morning before I would go, but that has passed too. Now I can't wait to go to the class. If you are thinking of trying Pure Power Boot Camp, I highly reccommend it! It has changed my life, I feel so much better about how I look, and it has made me a lot stronger. I am a 43year old mother of 2 boys, 6 and 10years old, and they always ask me if I went to boot camp today and what I did. They even know how much I enjoy it and how happy it makes me! Give it a try and you will not regret that you did!

I joined Pure Power Boot Camp as a trial member for 6 classes. I think this "Gym" has great potential and its concept is unique to the public; however, the few times I attended, classes tended to be a little crowded with over 15+ people. Occasionally, there was only one instructor in the morning. Other classes run with over 20 members and 2 trainers. Obviously, it could be very hard to get a really good work out in an over-crowded exercise class environment. According to their website, every class is limited to not over 16 "recruits" per class, and ??every drill instructor is former military.? This is not the case. All the trainers are not Veterans ?? I think only one is. He is actually a very good trainer and seems to know what he's doing; there's another one who is also good but I??m not sure if he is or was in the military. One of them seems he would rather be somewhere else and tends to make us do the same drills during each class. Besides their yelling all the time, they seem to be good listeners and care about the comfort and safety of the recruits. I still haven't met the owner.
Overall it's a good place, despite my critique. I do really like the obstacle course - it's pretty cool and very challenging.

Pros: Great concept

Cons: not like it's promised

BUYERS BEWARE! Before spending your money at Pure Power Boot Camp (PPBC) look at what you get for the money and look at other boot camp programs in the area. PPBC is overpriced and doesn??t compare to other boot camp programs.

I joined PPBC for twenty-four one hour sessions, four per week. Most sessions were limited to sixteen clients and two trainers. The first half hour consisted of running, jumping jacks, and all sorts of sit-ups, push-ups, lunges and squats. The sessin was split into two groups for the second half hour and one trainer worked with each group. Most days the second half consisted of running, push-ups, sit-ups, lunges and squats. Sometimes we would work out with hand weights or weighted bars, run carrying a tire, sit-ups with our feet tucked under a tire, step-ups on a wooden trunk and boxing. From time to time we had access to the obstacle course during the second half hour but this proved to be very limited. Only one group at a time used the course. Rarely did both groups use the course during the same half hour. It was crowded enough with one group. To deal with the crowd you were often told to do jumping jacks while waiting for the person in front of you to finish what they were doing before you could get access to the equipment. Assistance or guidance from a trainer while on the course was limited. My use of the equipment was limited to hurdles and climbing three walls. Once, for a few minutes before a session ended, a trainer assisted me with the rock wall, and another time he guided me across a net. It was surprising overall, how few days we were given routines that involved the equipment in the obstacle course. Your ability to build up the skill to use this equipment was compromised by the amount of time you had access to the course.

Three different trainers lead the sessions I attended. Two out of the three trainers proved to be mediocre at best. One was good. Unfortunately the good one wasn??t a regular. Attending a session with him made me realize the shortcomings of the other two trainers. This trainer seemed to be very organized, yelling instructions to the group and keeping them in-synch while moving through the different exercises. All three trainers yelled when they lead the class. The difference with this trainer was that he kept the group together, moving at a good pace. Two of the three used foul language when yelling at their clients. When approached about this, one made it very clear that he didn??t care what I thought. The next morning the other gave his first instruction of the day shouting the **** word.

The obstacle course is an attractive feature but don??t expect to use it as part of your regular routine and expect it to be crowded when you do use it. The foul language is inexcusable. If you are interested in a boot camp then join one lead by a professional where you will get a great workout. For example, try Trinity Boot Camp in NYC. The trainer, former military, will work you hard, keep you motivated and challenge you. Don??t waste you money at Pure Power Boot Camp.

I was scared as hell when I called to schedule my Groupon appointments.. and boyyy did I have reason.. Even though the staff and instructors are very comforting, theres nothing they can do to help the fact that I AM COMPLETELY OUT OF SHAPE!! Don't get me wrong I do pilates and workout religiously at the gym but NOTHING compared to this... I love love love the workout, the atmosphere and most of all the HOT instructors :).. Definitely signing up for a Tour of Duty to get my body ready for the summer!!

Wow, my first time at boot camp, I was thinking...."I made the right decision" by spending my money at PPBC instead of another class or pt, and there are a lot of choices. Besides the occassional overcrowded class [I took mostly in the evenings], I loved it. I even raved about it to other folks encouraging them to visit and see what it's all about. That is until the end of my 5th week. Due to several factors & circumstances, I was injured and ultimately had to have surgery. Please note that I'm in no way suggesting or blaming PPBC for my injury. However, after repeated phone calls and emails letting them know my status, I received no response. Let's just say their silence was deafening. Courage? Was all this perceived care and concern for my "results" only valid as long as I was paid up??? How disheartening to feel like I was only worthy of concern as long as I was re-upping. More disappointing than not finishing the full 6 weeks was the utter lack of respect for me. They should learn to practice what they preach.

I had posted about PPBC and mysteriously it disappeared!! Maybe because it was negative. I joined PPBC a few months and never got to finsih because I hurt my legs. When I hurt myself I told the instructor and he said really nothing, kind of like "oh well", I left the class early and the receptionist gave me an ice pack because she saw I was in pain. I told her I would take off a couple of days. I NEVER even got a call from PPBC to see how I was doing, was I coming back, nothing. Supposedly the owner claims to "stalk" you if you dont return, well I never got a call asking if I would return or if I was okay. IT's all about just getting your money. I regret joining and I wish I didnt waste my money at a place that could care less about their clients.

Pure Power Rocks!

I cannot say enough good things about this place.

I was sold from day one when I took my first class taught by the owner herself. After class I approached her, and asked "how much weight to people normally lose during the program?", she responded "We do not use scales here. I do not care about numbers. I care about how you feel, and I care about your dress size." I smiled, walked away, and continued with the program. Personally, I havent steped on a scale yet, but I have gone down 4 sizes and I feel better than I ever have.

I am confident, I have more energy, and I am part of something great at Pure Power Boot Camp!

Check this place out!

I am finishing my second week and this place is legit. The first session was brutal, I really didn't think I was going to make it and was like a walking zombie for hours after! I am still nowhere near able to complete all the reps on all the exercises, but I have already seen a notable improvement on my fitness and strength- just waiting for the improvement on my waist line, but think that will take a little more time. Also, some of the other class members are very motivating- I've never seen so many girls do so many pushups! And everyone is very nice and encouraging, plus you start to know members of class and it gives an extra layer of accountability.

The instructors definitely know what they are doing and will push you, but also are really good at recognizing when you are doing your very best and making allowances for the different fitness levels in the class. No matter what fitness level you are at, this is a great workout, as you get stronger, you do more reps, you do things faster, you have better technique, etc.

The one thing I will say is that some of the evening classes look a bit crowded with up to twenty people in the class which I think is a bit much. So far all my classes have ranged between 7-14 and have been great.

Overall, in terms of the cost of this versus a private trainer I think this is much greater value for the money. It is just much more motivating when you can actually climb up a wall when you couldn't before as opposed to just being able to lift a heavier dumbbell...

Highly recommend.

I just completed my first week of boot camp and it's been a tough one. The first day , 20 minutes into my work out I wanted to quit. I felt it was too much. I'm still struggling with some exercises. However, PPBC is amazing. I have never worked out so hard in my life. I've gone to the gym, had a personal trainer and the results were okay. But with PPBC you come out of class feeling amazing. This boot camp is far from boring and always challenges you. The first week was very hard but I look forward to more torture as its all worth it. I've taken gym classes and worked out at the gym but nothing beats PPBC, you won't get bored. So for those who are thinking about joining PPBC I say go for it its well worth it. Just be ready to push yourself and there is no slacking allowed at PPBC.

I usually do not post reviews; however, I must do so after reading the PERSONAL ATTACK posted by an ??Anonymous? user. You know the saying, ??DO NOT believe everything that you hear or read?, and especially when it is posted by an Anonymous user that apparently has a personal grudge.

PPBC is the only indoor obstacle confidence course in the country and IT IS the Real Deal in Fitness. PPBC is a hardcore, in your face, results oriented workout. The workouts are amazing (full of variety) and you will DEFINITELY see results. I have been at it for 4 months and I am in the BEST shape of my life.

If you are tired of the boring monotonous gym routine that does not produce results, then PPBC is for you.

I always start this review process by reading everyone else?s first. Great fun to see who is being brutally honest about something and who is being bitter. I can?t say enough good things about this place and rather than being redundant, I would suggest you all read the comments below. I agree with most of them but any with less than 4 stars: pass over. (Bitter). I?ll summarize so you don?t waste your time. Whoever wrote ?after my 6 weeks of 4x a week, I didn?t lose an inch or a pound?, must have been eating like a pig when they weren?t in PPBC. It?s not humanly possible NOT lose inches or weight in this place. (Unless of course you?re a slacker.). I?m down 12 pounds, 2 inches, 8 weeks. And a "class full of out of shape girls who can?t do a pushup" ? R U an anorexic gymnast? The women in the classes I?ve taken are in better shape than most people in the most popular health clubs in the city.

And then the person who moaned ? the gym was disgusting, very dirty..? If you want a pristine, sweet smelling, juice bar, ?spa?, then join one. Can?t take the sweat, the intensity, and the heat? Get the hell outta the kitchen, wimp. PPBC is for the serious and dedicated. Trainers are serious about their stuff, about making sure you get it done, and making sure you pay the price for not getting it done. It?s certainly not dirty, but then this person probably ran for the shower after carrying the sand bags around and got a little sand in their hair. (You?d think I worked at this place. Really, I don?t. I just think people can be completely un-objective.). And complaining about never hearing from the owner after the club took their money? Heck, when was the last time the owner of NYSC called you? You?re lucky they even took your money.

I could go on but I won?t. Do it if you?re serious about your health, state of mind, and think you can handle it. (And even if you think you can?t, trust me, you can with the energy and camaraderie at this place). Stay away if you can?t.

PPBC is a hardcore, in your face, ?let?s get ready to rumble? kind of work out. I?ve tried all the diets, working out in the gym, and working with a personal trainer, but achieved mediocre results at best. With the help of PPBC, I?ve finally been able to get in solid shape. What makes PPBC different is the sense of team. Together, we work towards a common goal of fitness and we motivate each other to accomplish goals never dreamed possible. PPBC truly empowered me to transform my life.

Don't believe the (very few) negative comments...this program is outstanding! It is going to challenge your mind, your body and your soul and you need to be open to it to get the best results. The owner is a busy business woman but she keeps tabs on her clients and any time I needed to speak to her, she made herself available to me and took my feedback very seriously. Watch out if she teaches a class or even worse (better?) JOINS in a class because she is in your face or next to you sweating, yelling, pushing you to reach your goals! An excellent trainer and coach!

The instructors are great and they keep you motivated, keep the classes active, and keep you vested in the whole grueling one hour work out. If you are standing around (yes the classes can be crowded), then that is your fault! There is so much to do here in the loft space and the clever use of all the obstacles, the weights, canteens, boxes, tires, walls, sand bags, keeps your fitness efforts diverse and entertaining.

This is the BEST use of my time and money and I am glad I found it.

For as long as I can remember I?ve struggled with my weight and the motivation to do something about it, I was well over 250lbs and still stuffing my face with those comfort foods. One day I was walking by a car and the sweaty fat image that stared back at me was disgusting, and that?s when I decided I needed to do something about this, I turned on my TV to the news and saw this woman who was full of energy and positively demonstrating some workout techniques, her energy was so motivating that I went online to get the name of her boot camp.

I signed up with Pure Power Boot Camp that same day and met with Lauren, I let her know that I have never done any type of workout program in my life and that I was very nervous, but Lauren convinced me that I didn?t have to be an athlete to join her Boot camp and she gave me the confidence and motivation I needed to not only come to all of my sessions, I?ve also lost over 50lbs and am keeping it off. I?ve complete the program and signed up for another Tour of Duty.

It?s been a year and I?ve kept the weight off by practicing a healthy life style which includes a healthy diet, exercise and I know I wouldn?t have been able to keep it off if it wasn?t for the positive thinking and motivation that was given to my Lauren at Pure Power Boot Camp.

I sat contemplating for 2 years, I needed to get rid of my weight but felt insecure about the "gym thing". I became so depressed i decided to find something that would get me moving... I used citysearch and looked up Gyms around my job and lo and behold, I found Pure Power Boot Camp. What have I got to lose? I decided to ring and Lauren was very understanding in a non judgmental way. I came down to the Boot Camp and watched a class. It was amazing! Just the right atmosphere I was looking for.. no cheating (GREAT!). I'll never regret it. I've been there 4 weeks and lost 1 size and 8lbs! Also met cool people
Cheers!
