Adams DMD & Cheek DDS Family and Cosmetic Dentistry

I've been seeing Dr. Craig Adams or over 2 years now. Initially frustrated with multiple needed procedures (redo of work already completed) I opted for a second opinion. Not only was the 2nd DDS more expensive, she praised Dr. Adams & team on their reputation, knowledge and experience. She also agreed with his findings. I moved forward with the procedures and am very pleased with the results. Very sensitive team of Dental hygienists who put you at ease. I highly recommend the team.

They were practically closing the doors and turning out the lights when I desperately called for root canal help. They squeezed me in that night and made the pain go away. They could have easily turned me away, but could tell I was in obvious pain over the phone. Everyone there was very nice and supportive during my time of need. Incredibly nice staff..highly recommend this place!!!

Dr. Adams is a wonderful dentist and I highly recommend him and his great staff. He recently did a root canal for me and replaced an old filling. He was gentle and very professional. If you need a new dentist Dr. Adams and his team are top notch.

Just had my tooth filled today at Dr. Adam's. I didn't feel a thing. You don't even feel the shots of novacain because he numbs your gums before giving you the shot. Terrific dentist especially if you're a wimp like I am about pain.

At a recent appointment with Dr. Adams, I showed him a close-up picture I had taken of my "five-and-three-quarters" year old daughter's front teeth. Picture 2 adult teeth shoving in behind 4 baby teeth, only one of which was remotely loose (and my daughter had been proudly working that one for at lease 3 weeks). "Should I be concerned?" I recall asking Dr. Adams.

The following week, my daughter was comfortably ensconced in the dentist chair, a little nervous but also excited about the potential Tooth-Fairy loot to come. After it was all over, I asked her to tell me, in her words, why the dentist had to pull all those teeth ....

"Well, if only one baby tooth got pulled out, the two grown-up teeth would not have space to grow in and they would be crowded with the other baby teeth. So Dr. Adams said we should take out four baby teeth. When he put the "sleepy juice" in my mouth it felt like a little pinch. And it kind of felt like just a little pinch when he was pushing my teeth to get them loose to make them come out. Then they gave me a little box to put the teeth in. And then the Tooth-Fairy got the teeth out of the box and put the money into my tooth pillow. She brought me $4.00 which makes eighty nickels and that's a lot of money!"

From the "mom" observation side, not a tear was shown or a cry heard. Bottom line - Mom was more worried about the process than she was. Oh, and Dr. Adams, she wanted me to tell you, "I love you, Dr. Adams" so clearly the child is far from traumatized ;-).

Pros: There are plenty of dentists close to where we live near downtown Raleigh, but my entire extended family drives more than 20 minutes just to see Dr. Adams - he is good!

Dr. Cheek preformed an unexpected bone graft on my husband late Friday afternoon and prescribed a pain pill for him. He had never taken pain pills before and reacted badly to them, I mean badly! We had to rush him to the hospital on Saturday night. On the way to the hospital, I called Dr. Cheek on his cell phone - he actually gave me the number in case of an emergency! I kept Dr. Cheek informed through out the night of my husbands' progress.We brought him home later that night. At 7:30 Sunday morning, Dr. Cheek called to check up on him. My husband developed a low grade fever on Sunday which I alerted Dr. Cheek. HE called every 2 hours until the fever subsided late Sunday night. He was such a comfort for me, not to say what it meant to my husband. Doctor's like Dr. Cheek are a rare find and revered when we do. We are fortunate to have him taking care of our family and definitely recommend him to everyone. We have repeated this story often with "gasps" and words of disbelief that there is someone like him around. Cannot praise this practice enough!! Thank you Dr. Cheek for all you did and still do.

This is my first written review. I typically do not look forward to dentist appointments however, the professional, respectable, hospitable and personable group at Dr. Craig Q. Adams office help make the necessary trips easier to comply with. On my last visit I had so much work done that Dr. Adams personally called my home later that evening to make sure all was well. Again I had lot of dental work done that day. I've never had a dentist to show this level of concern or commitment after I'd left the dentist office. As I thanked Dr. Adams then I thank he and his staff now. I still do not look forward to going to the dentist but if I have a dental need or concern there is no question; I am calling on Dr. Craig Q. Adams of Raleigh NC and so should you! Thank you Lena and Beverly, keep smiling.

I look forward to going to Dr. Adams practice. The office and staff together create a warm, positive, comfortable, friendly atmosphere. I believe a happy staff is a reflection of it's employer.
They are very punctual with appointments. I have great confidence in Dr. Adams to treat any dental problems I am having with very little or no pain. You never feel rushed. You feel like you have his whole attention when he is with you. I highly recommend him!!!!

Dr. Craig and Adams dental practice is like a flashback to the years when dentists really tried to make you feel like you were their only patient, very important, listening intently to what you have to say and making sure they understand fully what YOU want done with your mouth. The experience is as close to pleasurable as one can say about going to a dentist. It is nice that there are dentists in the world that still practice that "good ole day" protocol. Their practice is one like many of us remember as the days when dentists truly cared for their patients and worked in "their best interest". Hats off to this practice!

Who would have thought a visit to the dentist could be so stress free. The atmosphere is very relaxing, it is clean, and the staff are all very pleasant. In the past I have always hated the dentist and had panic attacks at my appointments but Dr. Adams did everything he could to make sure I would be comfortable. The two appointments I had for fillings were by far the best experiences I have ever had at the dentist. I have refferred friends and family to Dr. Adams.

The entire practice of Dr. Adams and Dr. Cheek is first rate. Your experience there will be pleasant and comfortable, and the expertise of both the dentists and the staff is second to none. Analyze the language of the few negative reviews (only one at the time of this writing), and you will detect the reasons to disregard them. Consider the preponderance of superior reviews, both on citysearch and on other sites, and select this practice for both your routine care and your emergencies. My wife and I have received from this practice a variety of dental services -- routine care, emergency services, and advanced reconstructive care -- with treatments by both Dr. Adams and Dr. Cheek, as well as the better part of the staff. I invested significant time (and money) with Dr. Adams. And it was well worth it! He implanted 7 teeth and "redid" my upper front teeth. I can now eat normally. And I can can now smile without embarrassment.
He made sure that every precaution was taken in order for the implants to be successful. The process was complicated and required many visits over several months. I was always treated with respect and Dr. Adams made sure that my concerns (and fears) were addressed. I have had two great dentists in my lifetime?Dr. Adams is one of them.

I went to Dr. Adams and Cheek when I read the reviews and found them to be exactly what was mentioned in the positive reviews so it really surprises me about the negative reviews recently posted. Dr. Cheek and Dr. Jeffers made time to explain information about something my son needed on a personal level. They have always explained themselves and what they are doing. I have to have oral surgery and Dr. Cheek explained why he didn't want to do it and why I should see an oral surgeon. I appreciated his honesty and the time he took to discuss it in detail. I hate going to the dentist even though I have good teeth and am extremely picky about where I go and where I take my children, I am very impressed with them and their staff. As to the person who thinks we are all groupies if we like them I'm glad you are going somewhere else, I don't care to be insulted by the likes of you.

Two years ago I had an infected tooth that was causing severe pain, and all the dentists that I called (who participated with my insurance plan) did not have openings any earlier than two months out. I was desperate to get my tooth fixed, and decided to look on Citysearch. I found several doctors, but found Dr. Adams and Cheek?s practice fairly close to work and with great ratings and reviews. I called and was very surprised that they could fit me in within a two day period! Upon calling, I verified that the practice did not participate with my insurance plan -but felt at this point that getting my tooth fixed in a timely manner was more important. Dr. Cheek asked a number of questions about my dental history. In the end, my tooth could not be saved and was removed. In comparison to other removals that I have had it went very smoothly, and I didn?t even feel the shots.

I was so impressed with the care and expertise at my initial visit that I went back to get a comprehensive plan. Dr. Cheek prepared and shared the plan. The types and costs were more suitable and more thorough than other recommendations that I had received by a number other dentists. I have since had implants, bridges, and crowns completed by Dr. Cheek. Dr. Cheek worked with me to logically space out the work so that I was able to utilize available resources; such as my health care spending account. In my life I have had much and extensive dental work, by military dentists and civilian dentists throughout the states. I finally decided that I was sick of not having a good dental care. Dr. Cheek?s and Adam?s practice was not like any that I had been to in the past, the expertise and care that they provided was awesome. Dr. Cheek is a very skilled and caring dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Adams and Dr. Cheek?s practice to individuals that are serious about getting the right attention and care for their dental needs.

I first started seeing Dr.s Adams and Cheek a year and half ago. The reviews and feedback I had recevied about their practice were quickly confirmed upon visiting them for the first time. Dr. Adams worked out a comprehensive care plan for me (I have A LOT of dental issues that need to be fixed), but he did this by thoroughly explaining what needed to be done when, prioritizing the procedures, etc. The dentist is one of the few places that I tend to get stressed out, not so much being in the chair itself but the paperwork and decisions that must be made around all of the procedures. Dr. Adams and Cheek have been extremely helpful when it comes to making those decisions and putting my mind at ease.

I went to this doctor because I saw good ratings here on this web site. now I know that all these folks are his groupies. He has zero compassion with very blotted unclear and staggered fees. Get a loan before going there. I strongly urge everyone not to pay too much attention to these ratings.

After having several bad experiences with my previous Dentist. A friend recommended Dr Adams to me. I was seen quickly as I had to have a root canal. I couldn't be happier with the final result. I have extreme anxiety when it comes to having any dental work done. Dr Adams made me feel comfortable and his nurse Joyce made sure I was comfortable during the procedure. All the staff is friendly and welcoming. You will not feel intimated. I am not afraid of the Dentist anymore.

I recently called Dr. Adam's office for a consultation for a root canal. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to see me within 48 hours, determine a treatment plan and schedule an appointment to have the work done. I had never had a root canal before and was a bit anxious from what you hear from other people. I am also a healthcare provider and believe I understand quality of medical care and have high expectations for my medical providers. Dr. Adam's staff was courteous, friendly and able to ease the sting of a very expensive procedure by explaining everything and making it as easy as possible by their explanations and friendliness. Joyce, Dr. Adams assistant was so gentle it was hard to tell she was working on a very sensitive tooth. Her gentleness and kindness made 3 hours in the dental chair bearable. Dr. Adams made sure I was in no pain, even the needles were hardly noticeable. He worked and worked on stubborn tooth roots and put on a new crown with as much ease seemingly as having a cavity filled. I was very pleased to have such a painfree, high quality experience and expect to visit their office again.

Best Dentist in Raleigh! Believe me, after moving from AZ two years ago, I have gone to two other dentists, and have finally found one I feel comfortable with. Dr. Adams is wonderful. He did two crowns for me. I am usually afraid of dentists, but Dr. Adams is so professional and gentle, that the procedure was done very quickly and with very little discomfort. His staff is very friendly and caring. Thank you to Cookie, for making me feel at home and to Tamara, the hygenist, who is also great. Dr. Adams and his staff made me feel like we were all old friends.

I decided to try this dental office based upon the reviews on Citysearch. The reviewers (giving high ratings) were obviously right. I was very impressed with Dr. Cheek's directness and honesty during our initial consultation. I immediately moved my family's dental care to their office. I had a lot of tooth pain this past week. It turns out I needed a root canal. I never had a root canal before so I did not know what to expect.

Dr Craig performed a root canal in one 2 hour visit. The next day my tooth was a little sore but I was virtually pain free! I appreciate the courteous and knowledable staff.

I found myself a new dentist!

Many thanks to Dr. Adams and his great staff for giving me back the confidence to smile, laugh out loud, eat whatever I like, and yes, even to kiss with confidence!

But most of all, for helping me to overcome feeling defeated by my dental problems. I now have a positive attitude about my dental future, and you can to.

For years I endured dental problems. And with each of these emotional and financial setbacks came my increased resignation that my teeth were ultimately doomed. And so, I rationalized there was no point in spending more dollars for preventive care or advanced work. I was defeated.

Then I moved to Raleigh and started going to Dr. Adams in 2000......but only when I had problems......like I said, I felt my teeth were a losing battle. I even called him from California on a Friday to say a tooth fell apart and could he see me Saturday as I had to fly to another conference on Sunday.....HE DID....and because of the short notice, had no assistants to help.

You gotta be a helluva dedicated Doctor to help people like that.......people who don't come in for regular checkups, don't take consistently good care of their teeth, who then need you at the last and most inconvenient moment (me).

Finally, my last dental disaster caused Dr. Adams to advise that if I didn't make a stand now, I would soon face the reality I have feared for decades. What changed my attitude in those few moments, after nearly 30 years of retreating, was his confidence, commitment and encouragement of what could be done.

As I look back now, I realize that this was the first and only dentist I ever had who personally cared more about me than I did in terms of my dental health and overall well being.

I don't how to explain more clearly how important that personal care & commitment is, but it really makes the difference. So, take a positive step forward and call Dr. Adams. Tell him your concerns, and isten to his advice.

I never thought I would say it about a dentist - but I LOVE Dr. Adams!!! I went to Dr. Adams knowing that I had major dental problems after several years of no insurance and no money. He is the first dentist I have ever been to where I fully understand what needs to be done and why! He did my first major procedure just the other day and although I can't call it pleasant, it was the best experience I've ever had in a dentist office. Dr. Adams and staff did everything within their power to make me feel comfortable and experience as little pain as possible. I would very highly recommended Dr. Adams and his staff to anyone who is looking for a caring, honest, knowledgeable and thorough dentist. Dr. Adams and staff are WONDERFUL!

Dr. Adams is Outstanding as well as his staff! He is extremely honest; caring of one's needs and fears. He takes the time, to not only explain, but also perform the procedures necessary to benefit the patient - he totally focuses on you and your individual situation.
He even called me to Baghdad, Iraq to make sure I am OK (I work for the US Army). He has gained my trust and confidence, making it all possible to have my teeth worked on. His work is painless and the results are absolutely remarkable! He is very professional, yet very friendly. His staff is extremely friendly and caring. Make you feel right at home. I've been seeing Dr Adams for over 10 years now, and my wife for almost 6. He's the only dentist I've ever been to that made me feel so comfortable that I fell asleep in his chair -- while he was working in my mouth! I had moved away at one point and hadn't been to see a dentist for almost 2 years when I ran into a problem. I called Dr Adams' office up and they not only remembered who I was without having to look it up, but fitted me in that afternoon. From then till now, no matter where I've lived, Dr Adams has been my dentist, even when it has meant driving over 100 miles to go see him. When you find someone as competent, professional and caring as Dr Adams and his staff and who make you feel as comfortable as they do, I feel you've got to stick with them. As long as I live anywhere in or near NC, I'll be seeing Dr Adams!

I had a Saturday emergency and Dr Cheek saw me right away. The staff worked hard to figure out my insurance on a weekend and Dr Cheek took care of my pain and made me feel very comfortable. I couldn't even feel the needle! Everyone at this office is awesome- they really care that you get great service! I have a lot of major work to get done and wouldn't think of seeing another dentist. Everyone is super, from the desk staff to the hygenists to, of course, the dentist. I recommend Dr Cheek and Dr Adams to everyone!

Dr. Adams has done major work on my mouth. I had to have several root canals, bridge, implant and most recently he did porcelain crowns on my front teeth. He is highly professional yet a very compassionate person. I would hightly recommend him to anyone that is looking for a dentist in the triangle.

I have been with Dr Adams for several years now and recently got a mouth gaurd. He asked me over the years if I was interested and I continually turned him down which he accepted and never pressured me. But, I finally realized how much my teeth were being impacted and I finally broke down and got the mouth gaurd. He warned me that it will take a while to get comfortable with it and he worked for awhile to get it fitted to my teeth properly but the 1st night I used it, I wished I got it sooner. It fit perfectly with no problems of pressure on my teeth. I now recommend mouth gaurds to anyone considering one.

My wife also had a problem crop up on a weekend. Dr Adams worked with my wife through the weekend to include contacting the pharmacy to get a pain perscription filled. He also followed up with my wife throught the weekend to monitor her progress.

I stongly recommend Dr Adams to anyone looking for a very down to earth and genuine dentist who remains current in his field and office practices.

Several months ago I came to Dr.Adams to get caught up some dental issues
that I had been putting off. We came to a mutual agreement that the health of my
teeth and gums were primary before he would be able to create a new smile for me.
His staff was exemplary in their professionalism and capabilities. Within a short time,
I was able to get the smile I have long wanted by the use of crowns and veneers.
My husband said, "well, they look perfect!". I now enjoy smiling, in a way that I haven't
in years. Throughout the entire process, I experienced no pain or discomfort. Dr. Adams

What can I say! I am one of those "problem patients" I am sure all dentist hate to have. I have a high level of "dentist" anxiety and many problems existing with my teeth. On top of that no dental insurance. I ended up with an absess and Dr. Adams was wonderful. The staff is first rate! I felt so welcomed into their "family" as a patient and as a friend. They helped with the anxiety and also arranged a plan to me get all the dental treatments I needed. It was a very relaxing and pleasant experience. Thank you Dr. Adams and Staff!!!

Go see this man for all of your dental care. He's GREAT!
I didn't like the dentist I had been going to, and I was having some pain. Dr. Adams office fit me in for my first appointment the day I called. My pain was from problems with my jaw, not from my teeth. Other dentists had mentioned this jaw problem before, but Dr. Adams was the first to take the time to explain exactly what was wrong, what the consequences were if I kept ignoring it, and explained a treatment plan that would help. He also showed me pictures of my teeth, explained how he could tell what discoloration were cavities and which weren't, and was honest about my fillings not being urgent at this point (which is great, because I don't have insurance and have to spread out my treatments). My experience with Dr Adams has earned him not only a new patient, but an enthusiastic patient who will recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist.

Dr. Adams placed two dental implants for me in September of 2005. The entire process actually took 3 months and was worth the wait. He explained every step to me before hand and told me what to expect along the way. It was not even particularly painful. He is very personable and truly cares about his patients. He called from his vacation to check on how I was doing the day of and day after the implants were placed. I have never had any doctor call me after surgery. Nurses yes, doctors never!!!! His office is conveniently located off of 540 and Falls of The Neuse Rd. Everyone at the office is friendly and they make you feel very comfortable. We lost our dentist of 20 years, about 3 years ago, and we went through a couple before we found Dr. Adams. We hope he is around for at least the next 20 years. Thank you Dr. Adams!!!!!!

Christmas morning 2005, I fractured a visible tooth. Dr. Adams returned my call in a timely manner, arranging to see me in the office the next day (making sure that I wasn't in pain.) Dr. Adams discussed the risks, benefits, alternatives, and cost of my treatment plan to restore my beautiful smile. I chose the modern solution - a dental implant. The entire process was completed at Dr. Adams' office, which is conveniently located. The procedure was not painful. In the event it is needed, Dr. Adams provides the patient with pain medication after the procedure. Dr. Adams personally phoned me at home the night of the procedure to make sure that I had everything that I needed for comfort, to discuss any questions or concerns about the procedure, discharge instructions, etc. The result is beautiful! A very professional practice that provides individualized care for individualized needs.

I have had two serious issues. My first was a front tooth that had died and was discolored. I saw two dentists before Dr. Adams. They could not replicate the real color so that it would look natural. Dr. Adams was able to accomplish this task. My husband was astounded by how natural it looked.

The second issue was serious pain in my jaw and neck. Dr. Adams had explained the process of grinding the teeth and the pain it may cause. He gave me a nightguard. The pain has completely subsided. I would never have guessed the sharp pain in my neck could have been caused by grinding my teeth at night!

Dr. Adams believes in perfectionism and quality. He has proven himself the be the best in his field. I am very grateful to have him in our community.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Adams for 18 years. His skill is unsurpassed and his work is painless. I have had several crowns put in over the years and recently had a root canal. All of his work is state-of-the-art and was performed without any discomfort or pain. Dr. Adam's staff are always pleasant and helpful. The trip to the dentist office is always filled with anxiety. It sets in just before sitting in the dental chair. The rumors of pain and agony with a root canal are overwhelming. I was frightened, nervous, and anxious. WOW is all I can say. Dr. Adams completed my
root canal wonderfully. The treatment I recieved was excellent, and without pain during and after the procedure. I was prescribed pain medication, and I only took one of the pills. Now, one day later, the anxiety is replaced with confidence in Dr. Adams.

Reader's Digest version of my experience with Dr. Adams. First, I hate going to the dentist. Second, after examination by Dr. Adams, I definitely needed a route canal...ouch! The office actually adjusted their schedule so that I could have my route canal performed immediately. Obviously, they didn't have to go out of their way, but they did. The outcome? A completely painless, yes painless, procedure that was completed with perfection and finished before I realized I was supposed to get out of the chair. Dr. Adams is VERY good at what he does and has a phenomenol bedside manner. I like the "small town" atmosphere that his office provides. I have a second appointment with Dr. Adams to fill a cavitiy, and needless to say, I have no anxiety about the appointment whatsoever...COMPLETELY AMAZING!

My wife and i have been going to Dr. Adams for over 3 years and are extremely satisfied with the services provided. The staff is very very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable and Dr. Adams is first rate with his friendly demeanor and bedside manners. The overall office atmosphere with its neat and distinct appearance and the services proviced allow me to give Dr. Adams office the highest recommendation.

I had an experience with a dentist in Apex, who did a horrible job with crowns. I called Dr Adams and he saw me within 2 hours to work on a plan to fix them. Dr Adams and his staff are amazing! They do everything possible to make you feel comfortable. He made me feel really confident with him by showing me pictures of his work. I never had doubts, and now I know I will never go to another dentist in the Triangle again. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Adams and his staff.
