Where do I start... I was fortunate enough that the receptionist that answered the phone that morning told me that Yvonne could see me. I called because I had a horrible experience with a stylist that colored/highlighted my hair on Saturday. No need to go into all of that. The important thing is that Yvonne effortlessly brought my hair back to its natural tone and color, and made it look better than it has in a long time! I felt so comfortable from the moment I walked into the salon. I had a great time and cannot wait for my next appointment.. I received quite a few compliments at the office this week and am so happy knowing that I don't have to worry about finding a great stylist anymore. I really can't rave enough!

Today I went in for a hair cut and I was THINKING about coloring it. I have never had my hair colored before so I was very nervous. I spoke with Mary about it and she was amazing, we talked about whether I should color my hair completely or just do highlights. This time, I was very dissatisfied with the service I received from Melissa.\n\n I called to set up an appointment with Lauren but was offered one with Melissa, whom I hav read positive reviews of, so I took it. I came in for color and a simple cut. Melissa sat with me and asked what I was looking for then said very little after that. I pretty much sat quietly in my chair the entir time. However, she was nice enough to offer me the weekday special that I asked about when I called even though she never really offers it because she's a master stylist. The ""deal"" was only $20 off what she normally charges. \n\nAfter a very dull and rather boring experience, I came out with a color that was just fine. The cut was shorter than I wanted, and the way she styled it was horrible. Literally, I was embarrassed to walk out of there. Melissa told me not to wash it for two days but I had no choice but to wash it as soon as I got home and re-style it myself. I felt like it was such a waste of $200. First of all, let me just say how happy I am that you can make appointments online and get a prompt email reply from Hair Studio Sonterra! I have a toddler and find it difficult to sneak away during the day to make phone calls, so this is especially convenient for me! Anyway....\n\nI cannot say enough good things about this salon! First of all, everyone who works here is so nice! From the minute you walk in the door, they are very accommodating and make sure you are comfortable during your time in the salon, from start to finish. My first experience at the salon was with Cheri. She was very nice and went above and beyond to attempt a coloring technique on my hair that she had never done before (with some assistance from Lauren, who was also very nice and helpful!) In the end, I was unhappy with the results -- not because of any mistakes on Cheri's part, the color just wasn't as light as I had been wanting. I emailed the salon (after hours, on a Friday evening) asking if my color could be fixed and received a response within hours, scheduling me for a new appointment the next morning! They were so amazing about the whole situation! They didn't make me feel guilty for having my hair done again, for free, and they even gave me some goodies for my trouble (though I wouldn't call it trouble at all!) This time my stylist was Lisa and she was amazing! She was very friendly and made sure my hair ended up exactly like I wanted. I could not be happier with the whole experience and would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone!

She says they are running a little behind. Of course you are, you just took three walk-ins during my appointment slot! Are you kidding me?!!!! \n\nBottom line, appointments mean nothing here. They will just put a walk-in during your time and figure that you don't care. Probably the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. Nobody even apologized. Let's just say I would never recommend this place.

I have been searching for a salon in San Antonio as I have just moved here. I read reviews on citysearch to find a great salon that everyone was buzzing about. I ran across Hair Studio Sonterra and saw some great reviews. So, I decided to try them out. \n\nI called to make an appointment and the young lady that answered the phone was very nice, and I told her what I needed done. She immediately told me that Debbie was the best for that. She told me that I would be double booked (highlights/hair color processing on another client while my hair was cut) but Debbie works fast and would spend the time with me since I am a new client. I expressed concern that I did not want to be rushed and the receptionist assured me that she would not. So, I booked an appointment. I got there at the time I was supposed to and the salon looked great. I was expecting a pleasant experience. I sat there for 23 minutes before Debbie came and got me. I was not too mad. Then she cut on my hair for literally 3-4 minutes and said ok this looks great. I told her it looked the same as when I came in. Right there, I noticed she was rushing and prided herself on being fast...also, trying to get back to her highlight/color client. She then started cutting on my hair more. It looked better but she kept saying this looks good and spins me around as if she was wanting me to leave. I wanted to see the back of my hair and she provided the mirror and I noticed that my neckline was not even at all. I pointed it out and she said ""oh, I didn't even check that"" and laughed. Again, shows she was rushing me out of her chair. By this time, I was just irritated. My hair looked a little better than when I came in but not perfection like my old stylist. She was hesitant to even styling my hair. She acted like it inconvenienced her. She did not even wash my hair when I got there or when I left. I am use to high end salons washing your hair when you get there and when you leave. The prices did not scare me...I pay more at other places, however, for what you get it still is not worth it. To top everything off, when I left she barely said bye let alone a thank you for coming in etc... as she was walking down the hall to her other client. She was not personable at all and showed that other clients were more important than me.\n\nIt seems as if most salons I have been into in the San Antonio area have lost customer service mentality and quality of work. This salon was very friendly as far as the receptionist goes and is a nice looking salon; however, when your stylists do not do quality work and are not very personable/friendly....it will hurt the business. My salon search continues......

Jen has always been accommodating to my specific needs and personality while at the same time giving her own input. Her professionalism, technique, and personality cannot be matched. Almost 5 stars just because of excellant customer service. I asked to lighten my root and tone down my blonde, but please, no orange roots. Well, they came out brassy :/. And the overall color ended up ashy, so kind of a contrast I wasn't happy abt. They really tried to make it to my liking, but I did have a picture, and well it wasn't it. The owner is a doll, everyone else is very nicE-stresssing VERY, really. Besidess, this is a GoldweLl AND Kerastase salon. You can only get the best treatments here,and if you care about your hair, these should be the brands you only use on your hair, as far as highlights and color. When I called to make an appointment, the owner orignally paired me up with someone she knew would be most suitable. Somehow it got switched around when I called back and the owner wasn't there, before my appointment, and it looked like I'd be seeing a different stylist for my appointent. At the appointment, they spent 6 hours on me, without me dmanding it. After all that effort, I wasn't happy, but they did try and in the past (not this salon)I've been charged much more without likeing any part of my new do, but when I went to pay, the owner actually told me "your all taken care of" with a smile. She didn't charge me one penny. I hadn't even complained yet. And my hair wasn't awful, just not what I wanted. It felt good, however, even if it wasn't exactly what I went in for, obviously there was a mistake and my stylist maybe wasn't as great as who the owner intended on doing my color. clearly there was a mix up and I did drive in from 4 hours away for business and decided to do my hair. Melissa actually took over for the blow drying part and wow might I say, she is so gentle and I loved the products she used to dry and style my very delicate cotton candy hair, that part I was very pleased about. in the end, I felt VERY taken care of. Normally you have to complain and get worked up and stressed out just for them to consider not chargeing you for the bad part, such as the color that changed my roots to orange. But like I said already, I did NOT even complain and wasn't charged one cent, because they knew it wasn't perfect and they want to live up to their name I suppose. This is the salon I'd choose when I'm back in town, definitely.

I have been going to Hair Studio of Sonterra now for a couple of months. My services is always outstanding, I think the prices are reasonable compared to other salons in the area. After all if you want quality, you should pay for it. It is what sets one studio apart from another. I currently get eyelash extensions at the salon, and Elsa is awesome. Even when I go to the doctor's office, the girls compliment me on my eyes and have no idea they are extensions. The work is flawless, and it makes me feel very special. All of the girls know me by name and always take time to catch up on my family with me. Even though I currently get my hair done elsewhere, I have had product advice, color advice, style advice that I follow and to me it is obvious they know their business. If I do lose my current stylist, I will absolutely trust my hair to the Hair Studio. Please keep up the great work.

When I called for an appointment I explained that in the past I have had bad experiences with stylists who were a bit scissor happy and who did not listen to or do what I had asked they do with my hair. After discussing with me my hair needs Melissa was recommended and an appointment arranged.\r\n\r\nI arrived a little early for my appointment, and was promptly greeted when I walked in the door. Everyone was very attentive. I didn't have to wait more than 2-3 minutes before Melissa introduced herself to me and took me to her work area. She spent some time looking at photos I had brought with me and listening to what I had in mind for my hair. She made some suggestions and brought a sample board of the hair colors from which I had to choose. Melissa and I finally decided on the best color for my skin tone, and she convinced me that the cut I already had was a good style for my face, but it needed to be shaped and the lines defined. She listened to my concerns about prior experiences and did everything I asked her to do. \r\n\r\nMelissa and I have similar personalities, so we talked the majority of the time, except when I was looking through books of hairstyles. We laughed at some of them together, because frankly, some were ridiculous. I pointed out styles I liked and she would explain why they would or would not work with my hair. I couldn?t have hand-picked a more perfect stylist match for me if I had done it myself. She knew exactly what I wanted and did it. The color turned out a bit light, but that was because I asked her to put some blonde highlights in it. I really like how it turned out, though and I am happy with the color. I can always go a bit darker next time I come in if I decide to do so. \r\n\r\nThe cut is awesome and even going into the fourth week since my visit, my hair still looks great. It amazes me how much easier it is to style my hair when I have a GOOD cut! I most definitely will be returning. After 10 years, I finally found someone who does my hair the way I ask them to. I was a bit concerned with the placement of the feathers in my hair, so I called and spoke with the owner. Her only solution was that she would send me some beads to move them to a different location on my head. #1....this is not my area of expertise nor what I paid $145.00 for. \n\nIt gets better...I was simply showing a co-worker the feathers on Tues....4 days after having the $145 feather put in, and the entire thing came out. I have very healthy and thick hair...it pulled my hair out. It looks as if the hair was broken off. It did not pull from the roots. This goes back to bad placement.\n\nI called the salon back to discuss what could be done. Again, I was brushed off by---what I assume was the manager, or owner---by her telling me that she mailed some more beads out to me. ARE YOU JOKING?! \n\nBy far the most unprofessional, unethical salon I've visited in my life. I take pride in what I do and it's a shame to see that other company owners/managers don't do the same. \n\nI have already sent numerous emails, texts, etc. to everyone I know letting them know to avoid them. Several people saw them on Sunday and asked where I had it done, I even wrote the name and number down for some of them. I go home and see that my hair is a weird maroon color. If the lighting in the styling room had been better I would have been able to see how horrible it actually looked. I really hate to write anything other than a great review for this salon because I love getting my hair done by Melissa and love that I can buy all my Kerastase products there. It's really convenient to get to and the owner, stylists and reception are usually perfectly friendly and helpful. BUT...\nI recently went in to get eyelash extensions. It's my first time having them, so I can't really comment too much on how well they were done. I like them, as does my husband, sister, friends, etc, so I'm assuming they're good. My problem is with the service I received initially and on my first visit to get them filled. On my first visit, the lady who does them wasn't terrible friendly. I tried to converse with her but she didn't seem at all interested so I stopped trying. Whatever, I chalked it up to a bad day and didn't think of it again. The second time I went in I was running about 1/2 hour behind and called the salon an hour and a half earlier to let them know. I offered to reschedule but was reassured that it would be fine and to just come in at 4:30 instead of 4. I got there at 4:30 and waited about 15 minutes even though I was the only one in the salon. When I finally got in to get the fill I got MAJOR attitude. No smile, barely a greeting and absolutely no conversation other than a lecture on how she was getting ready to ""walk out the door"" just as I had come in. I let it go for a few minutes and after a few more snide comments from her I realized that the reception had never told her that I would be late. I mentioned that I had called but it didn't seem to make a difference...she only said ""well, I thought you just weren't going to bother to show up"" and continued with the attitude for most of the remaining visit.\nThis isn't an experience that I expect when I visit this salon. Yes, it's more expensive than others offering the same services (especially eyelash extensions) but it's usually worth it. Not this time though - and whether it's a $20 or $200 service, regardless of where I am, I expect some sort of customer service anytime I'm paying for something. I'll keep going to Hair Studio for my hair and product, but I'm off in search of a different salon for eyelash extensions.

When I came to my appointment I was disappointed to find out that my stylist was seek, (which can happened). No one contacted me about rescheduling the appointment or changing the stylist. I did receive a bad haircut, but that doesn't make the whole Studio a 1 star rating. The thing about a super short haircut...there's no remedy except new growth :( I guess discernment on the part of the customer is also part of the customer satisfaction quotient. Lesson learned.

Even my husband was pampered with some refreshments and he wasn't getting anything done. All of the employees were very friendly and attentive. The salon gives the impression of a very upscale place but the prices are very competitive.\n\nThe person working on my hair was Lisa. Very knowledgeable and skillful. The whole experience (5 hours) in the salon was amazing. \n\nI'm not a fan of going to the salon religiously but if I was, this is the place to go.\n\n\n

Her time was devoted to me, and she listened to everything I had to say. She is very down to earth, and full of ideas. The Secret is Laura she gave me a beautiful head of hair extensions and nobody Knows. She added the extensions and did complete color...it looks GORGEOUS!

Melissa always explains everything to me and why my hair was losing color. Because of her talent my hair is very nice. The Blonde Highlights are always what I wanted.

I've had the same hair cut and style since the 80's! Since my hair started to turn gray, I began using different hair dyes from the store and Sally's myself to cover it. I made the mistake of picking a color that was too dark and I looked like a used car salesman. After reading all the good reviews, I thought I'd give this place a call to correct it. I told the stylist to help me correct the color and to also help me get a new style. She asked me questions about what I do for a living. She then showed me some styles and colors that would look professional as to not be inapproporate for professional attire. I was really impressed with that! The service was the absolute best I've ever had in a hair salon by far! The prices were great. I have a new style that everyone loves! I am a customer for life....or as long as I have hair! Thanks for doing a great job!

Ask for Lauren! I have had my hair cut in Sante Fe, Houston, Dallas and Denver and this is the best haircut ever for my face shape and also up keep of style--easy. I brought in a photo of hairstyle and Lauren matched and tailored to my face shape. She is an excellent hair stylist and I left with several of her cards to give to friends in search of someone who knows what they are doing. I have received more compliments of my new haircut. P.S. At the Hair Studio they also have a hair stylist Laura--my hair stylist was LAUREN, not Laura.

I love this place! I didn't think I would be able to find a good salon with reasonable prices in the city (especially after my first experience in San Antonio), but I did! Thank goodness for City Search. After reading the reviews on here, I called and made an appointment with Laura a few months ago. I've been twice now and she's given me great color, highlights, cut and service at an amazing price. She has also been very flexible. I missed an appt. on accident and she called and was able to squeeze me in a few hours later. This place is a gem and I don't plan on going anywhere else anytime soon.
