Best service ever, the manager was the only person waiting tables at the time, so while he served us food, he also danced his way to us, making the atmosphere alot more enjoyable. Music was also really good, it was a nice dining

This place is the worst! They only care about your money and try to get you drunk so you spend more and more on their over priced specials. Watch your wallets and your women if you go to this place. The owner is only interested in one thing... and it's not his wife!

I had some kind of a seafood stew that was served on top of a bed of fried plantain cube thingys. I'm not 100% sure what it was because it was a special and It was hard to hear what the waiter was saying due to the Wednesday Flamingo music being a bit loud. Anyways, whatever it was, it was great stuff. My wife had the arroz con pollo and loved it. And we finished off the night with the tasty sorbet assortment.

But on top of the food we received a very friendly greeting upon arriving and our waiter could not have been more friendly and attentive.

Don Pedro is well deserving of this positive review.

I went to Don Pedro's with a guy who is friends with the waitstaff and chef, it was great! It is a bit pricey, but the interesting mix is a refreshing change to your basic "Latino" place. Loved the popcorn at the start.I had a pina colada, the octopus Ceviche, an orange chicken appetizer (it was kind of dry, but the sauces were AMAZING) and a tres leches coconut desert. That was the best. It was served like a rice pudding, and it was larger than I expected. The atmosphere is nice...the BEST Latino music in a restaurant I have heard, yet. The waitstaff was (of course for us) very friendly, even at 11pm (they were almost closing). I would go back...to try the empanadas, and dessert. They also have an excellent dessert menu...and on Wed nights LIVE Flamenco..it was great!

We have dined here several times and must say that this is a restaurant that deserves notice!!! , I have worked in the food and beverage industry in the past and have searched high and low for the caliber of service and attentiveness that you get here at Don Pedro's. I especially want to highlight one special facet of my latest fine dining experience, Our waiter Alex...who greeted us upon entry, set us up and served us with the type of knowledge that you would expect from the Regency or Hotel Pierrre, Four Seasons etc. I can say this beacause I have been exposed to this level of 5 star fine dining and this is exactly what we received at Don Pedro's, he made us comfortable with his friendly attitude and was on target with food/wine pairings. The service, food, decor, atmosphere and attention to detail are outstanding, We will definitely recommend ths establishment to friends and family. Don't hesitate to take the time to visit this wonderful eatery, you won't be dissapointed.

Excellent service aThe service was amazing. Really. Our staff made great recommendations, knew a ton about wine and was happy to chat with us. That person was attentive without being obtrusive and made for a delightful experience. The food was good. and the food was outstanding.

The food was good, although it was very one note -- every single dish in our 7 course meal was sweet and sour and maybe a little spicy every now and then. The service was ok -- except for one waiter, who kept squeezing himself between our table and the tables next to us. His suit kept draping over our table; first it went into our bread basket, and then it covered our water glasses! He also rushed his customers -- giving them the next course before they were done with the prior course, so that they barely had room to fit all the plates. This atrocious waiter made our entire meal nervous, frazzled, and unpleasant. He was a blight on the restaurant.

Somewhat pricey for an upper upper east side establishment, but the popcorn bread basket (and don't forget the plaintains) was a treat. The meals were not memorable, but the mohitos were! So sit at the bar and enjoy a mohito and the popcorn!

Nice, interesting restaurant serving innovative takes on rather Latin American dishes. It is a bit pricey but worth it for new culinary experiences. The breadbasket includes flavored fresh popcorn and plantain chips. Amazing mojitos are served with a sugar cane stirrer.

Me and the girlfriend had just gotten out of work and were both hungry when we passed by Don Pedros. It caught our attention and we decided to try it. The waiters were extremely kind and they seem to know that they are good in which when the waiter saw it was my first time there, he said "your in for a treat". You bet I was. And so was the GF. She had Mofongo, in which she enjoyed very much and I had the pollo a ajillo, OMG very delicious!....the TOSTONES WAS TO DIE 4!!!!...best tostones ive had, hands down!... and the bread and popcorn with a little spice was not bad @ all...Highly recommend.

My fiance and I love this place. The food is simply excellent (try the skirt steak and the paella and you will return again and again). The service is tremendously gracious and attentive. The portions are HUGE (which can be bad or good ...but I love taking a 'to go' box for the next day's lunch). I have eaten at SO many other Latin eateries in this city (downtown, uptown, east side, west side, etc) and I cannot recommend this place more highly...

The atmosphere was nice but service was BAD. we were waited on by three different waiters because they take the orders but do not return. it took 20 minutes to get the menus, an hour to get the food, and still had to send my smelly fish back. Will NOT be going back.

Besides the good food and service, what occurred shocked me. A young teenage boy was very disrespectful to the lovely hostess who attentively greeted us and sat us at our table. Mind you, an infant was present as this arrogant boy was verbally abusive over her having a cup of coffee. He also had the audacity to attempt in physically throwing her out as she stood her ground to handle the situation in an appropriate manner as the busboy held him back in preventing him from touching her. I witnessed this inappropriate and outrageous behavior that it sickened me to the point that no matter how good the food and service is, I refuse to go back. The atmosphere was just awful.

My wife and I had dinner over the weekend at Don Pedro's and we agreed that it was one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere. The food was superb, the service was excellent and the Mojitos lived up to their billing. All in all a fabulous experience. Highly recommend.

.

The food was good, I did enjoy digging into my meal. Wonderful flavors and combinations. My wife's meal on the other hand was half a dozen dried out strips of chicken on a mediocre plate of greens...blah!

The service was relatively attentive as it should be in a nice restaurant, though my multiple requests for a second cup of coffee were totally unheeded. service was definitely harried.

The wait staff is welcoming, but needs to understand that the waiter is a waiter and that the customer is who is important. The arrogance of the hired help was a little bothersome. It may just be my preference, but unless I am visiting a truck stop I don't want to have my waiter join me at the table. If I were running a fine restaurant in New York I would want the customers treated like I valued their business.

The owner hovers at the edge of the wait station with an uneasy glare. I don't mind the oversight of the dining room operations, but after a while you get the feeling you are being watched a little too intently. Probably a good reason why the staff is so nervous.

If this were a local diner I would give them a 4, but for a white tablecloth establishment in NYC they need to refine the customer skills.

I live across the street and dropping in for the Mojitos is an ideal experience. They have a really cool bread basket with spicy popcorn, banana chips and oil for the bread. I've had dinner there once and the service was great.
The waiter was so enthusiastic it made my fiance and I want to order every special he read off. Overall, this is a great place to go for a nice dinner or even just grab some delicious drinks before heading out for the night.

I been to Don pedro's many time. Overall their dinner menu is varied and everything has good flavor. However, their churrasco is phenomenal!!! It is cooked to perfection, it's juicy, and super flavorful. I went with my daughter and they accomodated her very nicely- esp. since they don't have a kids menu. They offered her chickn fingers (spanish style) and french fries and it was very good.
Their service though overall really NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. The maitre'd tries to attend everyone, but somwhow they seem to forget that you're there.

In an area not known for much too choose from when it comes to dinning out , i heard of a spot that was romantic and had an exotic menu that infused euro culinary skills with carribean ingredients and that alone was enough to peek my interest, so yesterday i took a friend and gave don pedros a try ........wow , i was pleasantly surprised. The servers introduce themselves as "your dining host" and were detailed and attentive , the energy was vibrant and contagious ,the music took my ears and feet on a vacation to the islands, and finally the food was delicious and very well presented, oh yeah not to mention the mojitos were heavenly. The kicker was the minimum damage to my wallet .Well priced delicious festive fine dinning and a get cocktail selection what more could i ask for....... oh yeah maybe some outside seating and a little extra decor. I highly reccommend this restaurant.

Don Pedro's is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is incredible. Go for the Seafood Paella for two. Even for two very hungry people there is plenty of food left to be taken home (it reheats really well also). All of the apetizers are good and the Sangria is very good. Really nice restaurant to go with a group or on a date. Service is usually pretty good. Highly recommend!

The person behind the bar should be better trained in hospitality. Food sucks and drinks are awful (horrible pina coladas). The only possitive thing was the music, great salsa.

I have been to Don Pedro's countless times and love it. . The food is amazing, so so tasty. The portions are huge and I love the plaintain and chili popcorn bread basket they put on the table when you are seated. However, there is a difference btw. weekend and weeknight service. The servers are always nice (if not sometimes hard to understand) but when they get busy, they get overwhelmed and you can wait an hour for your meal. The mojito's are also great made with real sticks of sugar cane-excpet when it's busy they all of a sudden don't taste very good. I think if you stick to the weeknights-you will be thrilled. If not, be prepared for a long evening. P.S if they offer the sea bass with plaintain mash special-get it!!!

Though I'm Italian, I LOVE Caribbean food. I've been to this spot several times....on dates, with coworkers, even with some family. The food is mouth-watering and always looks like small works of art! It's amazing what you get for their prices. However, the service can be hit or miss. I've had some really friendly servers, and some not so friendly. Same can be said about the bar. Depends who's behind it. The middle of the week bartenders seem to be the coolest and can make the most dangerous drinks, plus they're pretty easy on the eyes. If this place could have better service, it would score a perfect 10.

I did some research on the net and came across this rest. WHAT A GREAT CHOICE. I was seated prompty, staff was friendly/ attentive. THE FOOD WAS MAGNIFICENT!! we orderedM, Tortita de Cangrejo (crab cake) and Chicharrones de Pollo (crisp chunks of chicken) for the main course I had, Pollo al Ajillo (boneless chicken w/ wine, butter and lemon) w/ Tostones & for dessert I had the caramel flan .....WOW!!!!!!!!! IS THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS FOOD. EVERY SINGLE ITEM WAS SPICED TO PERFECTION AND TOOK ME BACK TO MY TRIP TO SPAIN. I WOULD HAVE KISSED THE COOK IF HE HAD COME OUT FROM THE KITCHEN :) Unlike most restaurants in NYC, Don Pedro allowed us the time we needed for after dinner talk and to let our food settle. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC LATIN FOOD.......LOOK NO FURTHER DON PEDRO IS THE BEST BET IN MANHATTAN.

This a must-go-to spot in the Upper East Side. The food is incredible and the presentation is amazing. My only recommendation would be to go on a slower night. On the weekends this place can get pretty packed. I found the bartender to be quite short with us and rude, and our server was easily irritated when we changed our order. A couple of my friends who have been there also said the same thing. Nevertheless, the food was so amazing that we'll definitely go back. We'll just try to go on less busy days.

This is such a great restaurant. I tried it on a whim because it's in my neighborhood. I've been three times now. It's great for dates and if you have a large group just call ahead. The staff accomodated us and there was a big table ready and waiting when we walked in the door.

The food: Mouth-watering. I've had the sea bass special that came over yucca, I believe, with a blueberry reduction. It was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had.
I've also tried the churrasco and one of the chicken dishes.

Also, great sangria, a nice and helpful staff, and pleasant atmosphere. You won't believe your at 2nd Ave. and 96th St!

Pros: Great food, Great Sangria, Great Value

Sufficed to say that the Upper East Side is not known for it's excellent culinary offerings, but this changes everything. The space is classy, upscale, and contemporary. The service is upbeat and professional; on par with any of the 5-stars here in Manhattan. And, most notably, the food is literally to die for. Traditional Latin/Cuban/Puerto Rican favorites are served alongside new and interesting creations, courtesy of reknowned chef Rene Hernandez (whom I personally thanked after my meal) Both the preparation and presentation are of the highest caliber. Try a traditional latin favorite like Arroz con pollo (yellow rice w/ chicken & red bell pepper) but meat lovers should definitely not miss out on the churrasco! The secret needs to get out about this place.

Definitely go for the specials. Our appetizer was a roasted pepper stuffed with a rice. Awesome. She had the trout, loved it. I had the pork, beans, rice, jalapeno salad dish, great. Can't find words for how great the dessert was. Only down side was the first glass of wine was smaller than the second.

I brought my family to Don Pedros for my mothers birthday and everything was perfect. The service, the food and the atmosphere were all outstanding. The owner went out of his way to accomodate the entire party. we could not have picked a better place. I am going to go back and I would recommend it to anyone. There were no complaints from the members of my party. Everyone liked their food and loved the "Baked Alaska."

I had the greatest culinary experience here this past weekend. The menu is creative, the food is ALL wonderful (we sampled it all I think) and it's something truly unique. Not to mention the drinks will take you back to spring break in college. You must try a mojita! Tell everyone you know to try this place because it's a real gem. In a few months it will be a well-known name around town. Kudos to the chef and waitstaff!!! Also, you must try the shrimp epinadas!

I will say at the outset that since I am a vegetarian that does not eat fish, this was perhaps not the best choice of restaurants as it has no non-meat or fish entrees. Forgiving that, I found three disappointments: 1) the look of annoyment I got from the waitress when I ordered my salad and a vegetable side dish, 2) the fact that my salad was comprised of no more than three pieces of iceberg lettuce artfully arranged and doused with dressing, 3) the mango sorbet w/passion fruit sauce - some of the best sorbet ever, but the sauce was in a puddle on the plate beneath the decorative dessert glass, with none on the sorbet, and nearly impossible to marry the two- a shame, because both were excellent. My boyfriend, however, ate every last speck of his "pefect" fillet of sole, hence the high marks for the retaurant.

Don Pedro's is a very welcome addition to the Upper East Side. The food presentation is on par with any 5 star restaurant, and it tasts just as amazing as it looks. The atmosphere is relaxing, yet fun, and the owner and staff are extremely welcoming. This is a restaurant destined for greatness!

After living in the East 90's for 2 years, its nice to finally be able to have dining options other than Brother Jimmy's or the Barking Dog. Most restaurants in the area either suck or are too expensive...not only is Don Pedro's food great, but the prices are VERY reasonable and the atmosphere borders on actually being a downtown establishment.

This place is a great value, especially if you like chicken or pork...the seafood's a bit more expensive, but still cheaper than the options you get at other restaurants. The verdict: if you like Spanish food in a classy setting at reasonable prices, make the trip--it'll be well worth your time!

At last, a great place for Latin American food on the Upper East Side. We've been here a few times, and it just keeps getting better and better. The food is amazing, and a bargain for the price. My girlfriend especially loved the decor, which she said was "classy, yet comfortable." We'll be heading there again.

This is a very classy establishment with very good price points. The food is excellent and unlike other establishments they don't jack the prices on you. I can see Don Pedro's being an excellent destination as well as a local favorite. I'm surprised there was nothing like this before in that area.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen a place like this before in NYC; really good Latin/Caribbean food in an upscale, posh setting. The food is excellent, and there's great variety in both menu selection and prices. The staff was super-friendly; though with our big crowd there were one or two service issues (which may be due to the fact that they just recently opened.) Overall, though, a great experience - fun people, and great food and drinks; and not too pricey.
