I decided to treat myself to a self guided culinary tour of Phoenix for my birthday last year. I made reservations at T Cooks and was very impressed with everything. The shortribs were cooked to perfection, the duck was excellent, and the beef tenderloin was fabulous. Best of all, it's very affordable for an upscale restaurant. When you go Sunday through Thursday they have a three course menu for only $50.

The ambience was perfect with beautiful woodwork and soft lighting. The hotel that the restaurant is located at is very scenic and has beautiful fountains and palm trees and a variety of cacti, all worthy of pictures. Dessert was perfection designed to impress and please the palate. As an intimate detail the chef had scrolled happy birthday in chocolate along the edge of my plate. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed and will make it a point to stop there again when I return to Phoenix.

Dinner with friends was a fun experience here. Glad for the fixed price menu which my wife and I both enjoyed, our friends were celebrating anniversary and went whole hog and enjoyed themselves as well. Cocktails were innovative and high quality. Considering that our menu was Italian themed we were willing to go off the fixed menu for tiramisu but none available, bit of a bummer there. Overall very nice romantic evening as expected.

We arrived and were seated in an alternate ballroom even though we came at an off time 3:45 pm. Our area had one waiter with 5 tables at any given time.
We waited about 10 mins before our waited greeted us, then another before he returned to take our drink order. I ordered a French Pinot Noir and didnt see it or anyone for over 15mins. Finally we were told that the wrong wine was brought up twice.

My baby organic lettuce and pickled root salad was fine but nothing to write home about.
My mother had the lobster bisque which was dark brown in color & lacked any distinctive taste whatsoever, not even the asparagus and caviar garnish could save it. She also tried the beet tart which was dried and pasty not to mention the prosciutto looked questionable.

We both had the Chilean sea bass which was average at best. Such a let down. Served in a hot handled circular dish which was set handle in towards my Mother. She was burned as she reached in towards her plate. It is presented skin and tail fin attached with much oil .

For desert my Mother had the chocolate tarte which she said was nice and I had the strawberry rhubarb concoction which tasted like a bland pumpkin pie.

I voiced my concern to our waiter Jeff who promptly took off one dinner, which was much appreciated.

What transpired later is the true atonement to the lack of customer service, sense of community or class T. Cook's has. Upon our arrival home my Mother became violently ill. She was in the bathroom all night. I wont elaborate.

She called T Cook's to speak to a manager and was given someone's voicemail.
She called back. She finally spoke to someone where they said repeatedly this had never happened.
One of the chefs called back to offer a free brunch..really? A free brunch after this NO WAY.

T. Cook's said they would call back but still have not . $140 (that is with one dinner comped) to be sick and eat subpar food accompanied with poor service, I think not.

Since we have not been to T Cooks in several years, thought we'd give it a try for a holiday dinner. We were all disappointed there were only a few poinsettas for decorations. Dinner was so, so. The paella was not memorable in a good way. The short ribs were ordinary, unlike Tarbells and Vincents. The risotto was undercooked. Deserts, though, were outstanding.

This is a great restaurant with some of the best food in The Valley. I highly recommend making reservations on OpenTable if you are going to dine here since you need reservations anyways. Not only will you build up those OpenTable points for a free meal, but T.Cook's will be able give you really good service. They always know what my drink and food preferences are and can always recommend something that I like. I know we don't have an reservation culture here in Scottsdale/Phoenix, but it is so totally worth it. You won't be disappointed at T.Cooks.

This place is perfect if you want a hearty, classic breakfast. I'm talking a plate complete with bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and an awesome glass of orange juice. Classic and affordable!

The food and service at T Cooks is good, it is not on the same level as an old Phoenix favorite, Denny's on Van Buran. It is so unfortunate that it closed. Well, not for T. Cooks. With them gone, they have regained the number 1 spot.

Way to go T. Cooks!!!

T Cook's serves amazing food in a beautiful ambiance. While it's better known as a fine dining spot, I love to go here for breakfast. The all you can eat Sunday brunch is a little out of my price range at 29.95, but the a-la-carte options, at between $8-$10, are all within reason. Their take on eggs benedict is not to be missed. Like the lunch and dinner options, the breakfast menu changes seasonally, with a focus on fresh flavors and high quality offerings. My husband regularly orders the house smoked salmon plate which comes with about a half pound of salmon sliced so thin you can see though it. I'm not the biggest smoked salmon fan and even I love it. We've been here about a dozen times, 11 of them for breakfast, and have never had a less than exceptional experience.

this is one of the most intimate, romantic hotel restuarants i have been too. opt for patio seating. dont worry if its cold. u are in an enclosed area with heat lamps. in the court yard. Lots of candle lighting. very rustic/tuscan villa type. service was excellent and i belive the maitre'd names is paul. very gracious and hospitable host. must trys: pear and candied walnut mixed greens, mussels (appetizer), paella(AWSOME), seasonl fruit creme brulee (nice twist they do to it) afterwards be sure to take a walk around the grounds. absolutley stunning. this place is all about intimacy and mood lighting

This is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in the world. Anything you get here will be absolutely phenomenal, and the service is impeccable. I usually come at least once whenever I am in the city, and the host is just oustanding. One time I was with my parents and the service was a little slower than usual and the waiter took quite a long time to take our order and had JUST ran out of a dish I was ordering (literally a minute before), the host came over and apologized profusely, saying how this was not up to T. Cook's standards whatsoever (and we didn't even complain at all!) and comp'ed all of our entrees and wine! And THEN, the waitress ordered us the restaurant's three best desserts on the house as well! So the bill was only for our salads/appetizers! And only because the service was a little slow! It was absolutely phenomenal service... I was so impressed. And again, we didn't utter ONE word of complaint about the slowness.

On a more particular note, the crabcakes are outstanding, the seafood canneloni are to die for (as are the majority of their lamb and steak dishes as well), although I was not a huge fan of the short rib which is supposedly one of the highlights of their menu. But my family all loves it, so that just could be me. All of the desserts are fantastic as well... you really can't go wrong, just depends what you're in the mood for. Truly a PHENOMENAL restaurant.

I heard tons of exceptional reviews on the restaurant so I was really excited when my boyfriend took me there for my birthday dinner. I was definitely awed by the beautiful courtyard, fireplace and the patio seatings. Things started off really great, until the food was served. The bread was cold, the lobster bisque was mediocre, and my duck entree was way too salty. To top it all off, they brought out my birthday dessert with some else's name on it & served to my boyfriend! We had ordered their signature dessert, cheesecake creme brulee, and it was no better than other creme brulee from AJ's. So much for exceptional food, service and attetion to details!!! Would I recommend this place? Definitely not for dinner. You won't get your money's worth. Maybe for drinks at the bar. They do serve great Muscat and you'll still get to enjoy the ambience.

I can't believe this was not rated #1. It is the most wonderful place to take that special someone to enjoy a night of ambiance. The food is great but beware of holidays when the prices can go out of this world. I took three women there for one holiday that cost me $1200.....wow. It was good but beware of the pre-planned package deals, that is when it gets very expensive ($250.00 per person plus tip).

The atmosphere is one of sheer Mediterranean beauty. Arrive early and have a glass of wine in the courtyard. We sat inside, but the patio seating looks equally pleasant. Describing the food outstanding does not do it justice. When making the reservations, they inquired if this was a special occasion. When desert came, Happy 5th Anniversary was drizzled on the rim of the plate in dark chocolate. Nice touch! All told, it was about a two hour dining experience, so there were plenty of opportunities to gaze into each others eyesin between courses, naturally. UPDATE: we returned for our 6th anniversary, and we had the same waitress. Would you believe she actually remembered us from the previous year? Thats quality service!

I travel a great deal and I have stayed at some of the best hotels and eaten at great restaurants. The Royal Palms and T Cooks restaurant together are one of the best overall dining/ambiance experiences in the U.S. Enjoy the outdoor dining and stroll around the grounds before and after dinner. The food is superb, the service is awesome... a fine evening for those who like a somewhat casual, but first-class dining experience. (Chris X. Moloney--Dallas, TX & St. Louis, MO)

Fantastic food, fantastic service, very romantic. The head maitre d' (and director of romance) Paul is a credit to his profession....extremely professional, friendly and discreet. I think his title is a little cheesy but the restaurant and he are not. It's set at a very upscale small boutique hotel, The Royal Palms.

I took my wife for a mid morning breakfast on a Saturday . The food was diverse and enjoyable, with a lovely presentation. We enjoyed eating outdoors by the croquet lawn, I found it relaxing and peaceful. A quiet stroll around the Mediterranean/southwest courtyard and grounds was every bit as romantic as the meal. We made a morning out of it and visited the farmers market in Vincent's parking lot just down the street-she loved it.

I have dined at T-Cooks around 4-5 times and I have never enjoy meals like I do when I am at the Royal Palms. Strong effort to exceed customers expaectations is evident from the setting, to the service and there is not one item on the menu that doesn't melt in your mouth. Of course, I am priveledged enough to have connections inside the Royal Palms, but this does not give me a biased opinion. Your rating T-Cooks as the #1 restaurant is Phoenix is 100% accurate.

My husband and I took his parents to T. Cook's for their 25th anniversary. The staff went above and beyond to make their anniversary perfect. They even prepared, at my request, a special menu without the prices so that our guests could choose whatever they wanted without the pressure of knowing how much it was costing us. It did cost quite a lot, but T. Cook's is the kind of place where you can drop a couple hundred bucks in one night...and feel good about it.

We have stayed at the Phoenician and many local resorts and eaten at some of the finest restaurants in town. We found this quite by accident. It was such a find! Friends of ours were celebrating their 20th anniversary and staying at the Royal Palms and planned to eat at T Cook's for the celebration. We were entranced by the atmosphere. We felt like we had stepped back long ago in the past. It felt like it was another country too. The food was artistic and delectible. We enjoyed the background singing going on in another part of the restaurant. It was distant from our table but really added to the ambience.

Fabulous place to live the good life - the service is the best in town and there is nothing better than soaking up some piano music and martinis and pretending like you can afford it all night after night. The romanitc mood is palpable - the gorgeous lounge and bar make you want to grab the nearest well dressed patron and take it to one of the casitas sprinkled across the sumptuous grounds. Great for early or late night.

T. Cook's will soon be even better. They are currently remodeling their North Terrace to make it climate controlled. Once that is finished that is going to be the hot spot for dining in winter and the cool spot for summer dining. I personally can't wait, as with everything else it will be great.
