Samuel Cole Salon

I called to make an appointment after getting a terrible haircut from another salon. They had a few stylist available for that next day and I remembered reading about Jess on here so I decided to go with whatever she had first available. She was great! She listened to what my problems were with my cut and showed me and explained to me why i was having those problems. We had to take a little bit of length off but amazingly when she was done, my problems had been fixed. I can not thank Jess or Samuel Cole Salon enough for squeezing me in and doing such a fabulous job! I feel like everyone should visit Jess or anyone in that salon!!

On Sept 5, (2008), I went to Samuel Cole Salon for the first time. I had called earlier that morning to schedule an appointment for the future. The woman who helped me on the phone was super nice and listened to what I was looking for. She matched me with Ellen who fortunately had an appointment early afternoon. I have very thick and curly and am always hesitant when meeting new stylists. She was so friendly and personable. She listened to what I wanted and looked at the pictures I brought. She explained her process to me so I would be in the loop. She gave me her opinion of the cut I wanted based on my hair texture and facial features/shape. But before the cut we went to the color bar to get the desired shade. She took such good care of me and it literally is a bar. It's so cool! She got me a drink and magazines while my color did its thing. She washed my hair in the most comfortable chair ever (you know how you lean back and it hurts your neck and your back gets uncomfortable-this chair NEVER does this). The head massage was wonderful. Afterward, because I was a new client, I was given a free parafin hand wax. So relaxing! We were finally ready for the cut. Ellen again talked me through her opinion of the style I was looking for and in the end went with her recommendation. It of course, came out beautifully and I constantly get compliments on it. I have a detailed list of products to use and in which order. There is no pressure to buy but they keep it in your file so when you come back they'll know which product your stylist suggested. AND they take back products if you don't use them. How great is that? They also have a 14 day guarantee to come back if you're not satisfied with your cut. I have 2 days still to get my hair cut shorter and will report back if I do. Just make sure to bring cash for the tip(or check). Believe me, its worth it!!!

Yvette is great!!! This is the first time I have felt compelled to write an online review. And it is good news. What am I saying? It is fabulous news. Several months after moving to Raleigh, I knew that I needed to do some research in order to find a good hair colorist/stylist in town. I waited as long as I could (7 months) because I've always known that it takes time to learn about these type of things. I was prepared to try a few places (with couple of sad mistakes along the way). But this time, I was lucky. When I scheduled my first appointment at the Samuel Cole Salon, I found the most professional, knowledgeable and caring service with Yvette. If you need a professional who will listen and will try to please her client, carefully guiding you through the array of new hair products and techniques, call and talk to any of the friendly people at Samuel Cole and make an appointment with Yvette.

I moved to Raleigh, NC 2 1/2 years ago and since then I've struggled to find a good hairstylist. I have chemically relaxed African-American hair, so finding the right stylist who understands the texture of my hair has made it even more challenging. I used City Search to find this salon and based on its 5 star rating decided to give it a try. When I called on Sept. 10th, I asked the receptionist if there was a stylist there that had experience handling my hair type, she immediately recommended Erica. They even made a special effort to fit me into her very busy schedule and then called me on the day of my appointment, Sept. 13th, to see if I wanted to come in earlier. When I arrived the staff and the stylists were very welcoming. Erica took the time to listen and discuss with me all the options for my hair, recommended great products and most of all took the time to explain to me during each step, what she was doing and what products she was using on my hair. My cut was great, the service was great. I highly recommend this salon and Erica to anyone. I truly think that I have found a great salon that is actually interested in helping the client to maintain healthy hair and well as a happy attitude about their experience. Having naturally curly hair, I have struggled to find a great stylist who really knows what to do with curly hair. Before finding the Samuel Cole salon, I had hair styles that were just OK. Nicole Lumaye has changed that! She is a fantastic stylist who really took the time to talk with me prior to even touching my hair. I absolutely love the cut she envisioned & receive LOTS of compliments. I feel like a model!!
