The food here is pretty decent and it is a good location for people who live in Cupertino. It is popular, but there are better places that are less expensive in the South Bay. I personally enjoy my experiences when I come here because I go with my mom, but I can see how it would be difficult to bring a large group here.

The food at Fontana's is pretty good. I never really had a bad meal. The only big problems with Fontana's is that its really cramped in there and the service.

Fontanas Restaurant is a very popular dining place. The food is good but I have had better in the Cupertino area. It is a very busy restaurant and the seating is too close to other tables. There is a long wait between courses and you have to flag a waiter to get more bread or water.

1st let me say I recommend MAKING A RESERVATION. Just to ensure that your party doesn't have to wait.
I eat here quite often and love the service, atmosphere and PATIO dining.

My favorite Dessert of ALL-TIME has to be the Apple Streudel!! with homemade caramel and whipped cream whats not to love.
I also love the Calamari and Penne Calabrese!

If its your first time dining @ fontanas don't be afraid to ask for suggestions even the hosts have their favorites...& most of the servers have been working there upwards of 10 years..so they know their stuff.

Pros: delicious food, great service,

Cons: wait times..easily avoided, not a full bar

Good Italian food. The food is creamy, rich, flavorful, and was served in good presentation. The fish are fresh and cooked to perfection.

Our waitress was very nice, and knowlegable. My penne was delicious. But the half-chicken was a bit plain. The wine list was good, and so was the desset. The tiramissous was excellent! Went early so we got seated early.

Service was excellent. Our server was respectfully friendly and attentive and on target with the timing of each course. He was knowledgeable about the menu and the bussers cleared away plates unobtusively and kept us well watered. The risotto was underdone and dry and the salmon was a bit overgrilled though still moist. The abalone with egg sounded odd but was delicious with a texture akin to silken tofu. The perfectly seared scallops with balsamic vinegar and basil creme? was to die for. Unfortunately, we were too full to try the desserts due to the superior appetizers.

Pros: Service!!, Creative food, Good ambiance

Cons: Loud at times, Some entrees subpar

We go to Fontana's for my bday every year. There's a great variety of food. From seafood, risotto, pastas and meat. I also love the salad with the marinated, grilled portobello mushroom. One other cool thing is that while Italian food can be very heavy and rich, when you leave Fontana's you don't feel like you need a bypass or stomach pump.

More about Fontana's Italian

Fontana Italian's History Established in 1984. The word "Fontana" translates from Italian to mean "Fountain". The Fontana restaurant is named after "Fontana Rossa", a quaint mountain village outside of Genoa, Italy. It was known as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus' mother. Fontana's owner Charlotte Chiapellone's grandfather, as well as two other families, the Moscone's and the Mangini's, came from Fontana Rossa to San Francisco in the early 1900's. One of the members of the Moscone family became the mayor of San Francisco; his memory is still honored by a plaque in the piazza wall in Fontana Rossa for his financial generosity to the village church. Mangini became a prominent name on the San Francisco Peninsula. The Chiapellone's were involved in founding the Burlingame Garden Center and others were involved with the San Francisco Sunset Scavengers.

Editorial from

This restaurant is warm and inviting from the first appetizer to the last bite of dessert. Speaking of dessert, don't miss the homemade tiramisu.
