Ratings_icons Hollywood Fun!

Twist is located in the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. It's very nice, not the typical hotel restaurant. It's hip and trendy and modern. Eat at the bar, much more fun to interact with the bartenders. Their menu is eclectic - good food! It's a great spot if you're in town before painting the town red!

Ratings_icons Pretty good food in nicely high-ceilinged room

I went to this place on Saturday and first of all, it doesn't look nearly as nice in person as it does on their website. We were there for lunch, though, so maybe it looks better at night. It is not unattractive, just not special enough to be a destination restaurant, but it's probably totally fine if you're a hotel guest. We live in the area but just happened to be walking nearby and wanted to try something new. The food was pretty good. Excellent French onion soup (with the odd but delicious addition of blue cheese on top of the bread, along with the tradtional Gruyere), and the Cobb salad was tasty but, oddly, had ham in it instead of the traditional chicken. Composed nicely, though, and tasted good. The sirloin burger was quite good and prepared as I asked, but they claimed it was topped with carmelized onions and the onions were not carmelized, merely grilled. This is the second time I've had this happen to me in a restaurant. I wish chefs would realize that there is a difference and carmelized onions are far more tasty. The fries were no better than average. Our waitress was lovely, though, and gave us very nice, attentive service.

Pros: Nice service, high ceilings

Cons: Carmelized onions weren't carmelized, Cobb salad had bacon and ham, not bacon and chicken
