Initially when I brought my puppy there for the first time, I thought service was great. However, I clearly told the staff I will be picking up my puppy at 8pm. They said that would not be a problem. On the day of pick up I reminded them again, and was assured no problem.

I arrived at 8pm and the facility was closed. I could not get a hold of anyone. There was no emergency contact info on the phone. I was very disappointed. Plus, it appears they leave the dogs locked up at night with out supervision. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone.

What a nightmare!

Been a regular customer since April 2007 when my husband and I adopted our dog, Duffy. During the work week, it's a relief to know that instead of being cooped up in our condo waiting for a dogwalker, that my dog is happily running around and playing with other dogs with a trained staff of people supervising at all times. Boarding is great too since dogs boarding have free all-day-play throughout their stay. It's one of the best daycare/boarding in the downtown Chicago area. Plus, Tucker Pup's has grooming, training, and pet photography all under one roof! My dog loves it there!

This is my first review, and it's important to me to warn others about this place. I took my 13-year-old labrador here for a bath. They didn't take any information about her over the phone or when I got there; they simply asked if she was the "two o'clock" and hustled her into the back room. When I came back to pick her up later, she was acting very strangely and just lay down in the middle of the reception area. The reception person was suddenly very focused on my filling out their forms, which included the liability waiver. The staff was disorganized and unprofessional in ways I won't go into here, but suffice it to say the place started to give me the creeps. But it wasn't until the ride home, when my dog started shaking uncontrollably in the back seat, that I knew something was terribly wrong. The next 24 hours she continued to be very lethargic, but then she seemed to go back to normal. Six weeks later, my dog was dead. The veterinarian told me that she had had internal bleeding from an internal tumor, bleeding which she said would have initially been caused by a blunt trauma, such as being dropped. It had initially clotted within 24 hours, then started bleeding again weeks later to cause her death. I believe that my dog was dropped there (due to their failing to even ask her age or to take special care of a fragile older dog- maybe they tried to get her to jump down from a table and she couldn't), and they didn't tell me what had happened afterwards. If they had at least told me, maybe I could have taken her to the vet earlier and saved her.
Then I got an email from them asking me to vote for them for best dog grooming place. They didn't win the contest, thank God, in spite of apparently emailing everyone on their list begging for votes. I also couldn't understand why some of the reviews on other sites were so glowing, until I realized that the majority of them were written very close in time to one another and in a similar voice. Suspicious. I don't want people to be fooled by their self-promotion that it is actually a good place, because it is anything but that.

I brought my dog to Tucker Pups after reading about it on-line a couple months back. Originally, I planned on just having her groomed but, after hearing about the doggy day care, I figured we'd make a day out of it. Being the loving owner that I am, I provided them with her food and toys she's used to so she wouldn't be lonely or hungry. 7 hours later I returned to pick up my little pup and from what I could tell she was happy as can be; however, when I picked her up in my arms she was shaking like a leaf (never does that). I then asked for her toy and remainder of the food I had left for her for the day and they just stared at me in utter confusion. Finally after looking in the back for several minutes they came across the bag of food and toy (neither of which were used during her visit). I didn't care about the toy but was concerned about her not eating all day... they said that since they were unaware of her food being left they didn't feed her... "dogs that are left with no food or water instructions are not fed or provided water". I found this to be appalling - don't they know that dogs shouldn't go without water for 7+ hours, especially in 90 degree weather!!!! They didn't take any fault on whoever forgot about my goodies bag and instructions to feed her; though, to be honest I didn't make a big deal about it. Anyway, after we got home my pup drank and ate like never before - she was obviously dying of thirst and quite exhausted from the heat. Thankfully, all was okay in the end; however, their lack in basic doggy day-care 101 really let me down - hence, they didn't make me a returning customer.
