I think there are two types of trainers: those who catch you fish and those who teach you how to catch your fish. I went to Diakadi Body to shake up my work out routine and LEARN things about fitness, well-being and GET to another level. I had been working out with some great personal trainers for the last 4 years in another gym and I thought nothing would shake me to the core at DIAKADI (pun is totally intended). At DIAKADI I had an honor to work out with Caitlyn Dunphy (she goes by Caitlyn Allen on the webpage. They apparently haven't updated her page) who was fantastic. She is one of those who teaches you how to catch a fish. Be warned though: she will make you sweat, moan and feel the muscles you didn't know existed. What I really liked about Caitlyn is that she really wants you to understand your body, what you can do with it and succeed in achieving your fitness goals. At the first session she did full body assessment including your posture, proper body movement and tested your strength to customize her session accordingly. She was also very careful to write down your goals and expectations. That set a very solid ground for the success of our work out session. Each day with Caitlyn was a lot of work, a lot of sweat, a lot of learning and also a lot of FUN. And yes with her professional help I did achieve my goals and I had to shop for a whole new wardrobe! :-) But most importantly Caitlyn gave me knowledge that is going to last me my lifetime which is the best investment you can make.
Diakadi Body is the best gym with the best trainers! This gym definitely has the best environment for Personal Training, truly offering a ""Zen-like"" experience compared to any other gym I've been to. Diakadi offers a whole new approach to Personal Fitness as its a gym where the sole focus is Personal Training. When I first began training here six months ago, I wanted to find a gym, where I could focus on my fitness goals. I was training for my first Marathon, the San Francisco Marathon and wanted to take my running to the next level. I've always been an avid runner, but knew I needed to work on my core if I really wanted to become a faster and stronger runner. Thanks to my trainer Luis Chirinos, my core and physical endurance has become stronger than it has ever been in my life! Since I have been training with Luis I have ran several PR's and my 5K Race time is now faster than it was in High School. I even placed 4th overall in a recent Race in San Francisco and have had several top 10 finishes, most importantly I finished the SF Marathon in August and felt strong throughout the race, thanks to the core building exercises from my training. Luis is one amazing dedicated personal trainer and really knows the mechanics of the human body, providing me with the best core-strengthening and balance exercises, which has taken my running to the next level!

If you want to work out with a personal trainer, this is it! Diakadi body has all fitness levels. The facility has tons of different equipment in an environment that is clean, functional and cool. My trainer has provided diverse workouts that meet all my objectives and leave me drenched and coming back for more. They do a great job of limiting the number of trainers working at any given time so it never feels crowded. Everyone there is working with a trainer, so everyone is in the same boat you are. If you are serious about working with a trainer.... DO IT! When I started, I was so out of shape, walking up the stairs to Diakadi left me winded. I lost 25 pounds, have kept it off for 2 years, have competed in a triathlon and a half marathon and am in the best shape of my life. If you want to change, if you have a goal, if you need a little help, Diakadi is the BEST and only answer.

Billy tailors your workout to your specific needs. He is great in helping you to come back from injuries and in guiding you to avoid new injuries. He helped me come back from shoulder surgery that some surgeons said I would not fully recover from. He continually revises your workout to reflect your progress and to keep your workout interesting. Billy inspires you to do the best that you possibly can. Most important is that he makes working out lots of fun, helped by his quick wit and constant interest in you as a person.\r
Diakadi is the cleanest facility I have ever worked out in. The equipment is state of the art, and there are thoughtful amenities everywhere. The atmosphere is always positive and upbeat. Best place to work out in SF or anywhere! I would give Billy and Diakadi more stars if they were offered.

After 30 years of lupus, a ruptured lumbar disc, and six joint surgeries ? including two hip replacements ? I never thought I'd be able to walk without pain. But after working with Richard, Diakadi's staff physical therapist, my back and sore joints healed and I could finally exercise without discomfort. Then I added Lynne to my regimen and my fitness really started to take off. I do Yoga and Pilates moves that I never thought I would be able to do. My stamina has gone way up, from ten minutes of cardio to almost an hour. \r
Diakadi has really changed my life. Every other gym I've been to the trainers pushed me beyond my limits and I always ended up hurt. At Diakadi my trainers really wanted to understand my health needs and work with them rather than against them. In almost two years I've never been hurt. I started out with a cane and now I'm walking and hiking and never need my cane.\r
Everyone is friendly and supportive and from day one I felt comfortable and at home. It's a gym where regular folks work out alongside world-class athletes and no one feels out of place.
Diakadi is amazing. I don't know what I would do without them. Every single person -from the trainers to the physical therapists to the receptionists - is so nice and extremely professional. If you are looking for a new body or even trying to fix the one you have I highly recommend you tour Diakadi Body. I have had a gym membership since my teens when I worked out because my father was an avid swimmer. In fact my whole family is athletic. I have trained as a dancer and lifted weights, done aerobics, run, as well as played many sports including tennis, swimming, skiing, handball, biking and my latest passion soccer (which I took up at the age of 45). Having been a personal trainer for a few years I know how to check out the trainers as well as the gym. At Diakadi the trainers are truly personal trainers, they pay attention to you, they are not talking on their cell phones or looking around the gym. I also know a few of the trainers personally because I worked with them over the years, they are top notch. The gym is *CLEAN*, well lit and pleasant, never crowded. So why would I go there? Well, since having an ACL reconstruction a few years ago I noticed I have had little injuries and pain, tendinitis etc. and was always seeking treatment until I realized I never recovered my running form. I chose to work with Albert Jovel because I knew he specialized in sports specfic training,has great credentials, and he is a third generation soccer player. After just 3 sessions I am aware of corrections I have to work on and feeling confident about being ready for the fall season! Albert is extremely knowledgeable and patient, always prepared and really goes above and beyond what I would expect. If you are serious about your health and fitness this is the best investment you can make in your future! If you are looking for date head to one of the other gyms!

I am a former college athlete who has endured 2 back surgeries and was physically inactive for a long period of time. After working w/ Albert Jovel for just a short time he had me skiing, golfing and playing hoops again. Now after having worked w/ him for a couple of years I am confident that I can do just about any physical activity w/out suffering thru painfull recoveries. I would (and have) recommended him to anybody looking to get into shape. He is very knowledgeable so he can work w/ your specific goals and help you acheive them faster than you think.

I came to Diakadi to work with a best-in-class personal trainer Albert Jovel. I?ve found Diakadi to be a first rate facility with all the equipment one could need (and parking to boot) and with that rare spirit of co-operation rather than competition. Training with Albert is a very rewarding experience both physically and mentally. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced on all aspects of conditioning and develops programs to meet my goals while maintaining the variety to keep up my motivation and progress. I particularly enjoy his educative style; not only does he show me how to do it, but he also explains the ?science? of why an exercise, or combination of exercises, will have the desired result. He?s been my trainer for close on two years and I?m still stimulated, learning, and progressing to new goals. I was very skeptical about personal trainers but Albert and Diakadi have made me a convert, and I recommend him and the Diakadi facility unreservedly for any personal training needs.

I had specific training requirements in order to complete a challenging bicyle tour. Albert Joval designed a a program that took in to account the number of days I had to train, what could be accomplished between the time I started and the tour, and the specifics of the training program itself. \r
I would rate the facility and Albert as excellent. The facility is clean, well lighted and has all the equipment necessary for training or a complete workout. Most importantly, my experience with Albert is first rate. He is intelligent, knowledgable, and dedicated. He prepares for each session and instructs as well as demontstrates the moves. He is clear what each is designed to accomplish and is fully engaged with the process. He is highly professional, and fields questions in an open and honest way. \r
I have seen very positive results from my work with Albert. I am stronger and I have more endurance, which fulfilled my goals for training. He also addresses the psychological and nutritional aspects of training. \r
In short, I recommend Albert wtihour hesitation or reservation to anyone who is interested in a serious training regimen that is, enjoyable and productive no matter what the level. He is quite simply top notch.

This 66-year old wimpy non-athletic woman started training with Ashley two years ago, and then added Lynne, to my weekly regime. What a difference my life has become. From 5 minutes on the treadmill with painful legs and hips to my new goal of walking 19-minute (now painfree) miles (with surgery to increase bloodflow in my legs along the way), my two very smart trainers have helped me to change a lifetime of bad habits. Endurance, flexability, core and strength training are all in the very pleasant mix. And all the staff at Diakadi makes me feel welcome.
I go to Diakadi Body once a week to work with my trainer, Carrie McCobb. Carrie is wonderful, and the facility is great. They only allow a certain number of trainers and clients in the gym area at one time, so it never feels too crowded. It's always clean and friendly. I definitely recommend Diakadi and Carrie McCobb to anyone looking to get in shape or just alter his/her workout.

DIAKADI is a welcoming, friendly, professional gym that is not your typical workout place. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by friendly front desk staff, you immediately notice the spacious facility with lot's of light and windows and lot's of great equipment. It never feels crowded. The locker room and entire place is clean and the little extras like water and fruit are nice.\r
I've been working out with my trainer, Michael LaSala, for a couple of months now and he is awesome! Very knowledgeable, the right personality type for my style of working out, and well he kicks my butt every time but I walk out of there with my spirits high and my body transformed. I've never been stronger or more fit in my life. I went to Michael following a 5th major knee surgery when I got the okay from my doctor to return to athletics, and Michael has given me the extra push to be more confident and strong in my physical abilities than ever before.\r

The service and professionalism at DIAKADI is top notch. I have had several personal trainers over the years and the my experience with DIAKADI is the best. When I became serious about taking back my body from the clutches of gravity, my blackberry and Krispy Kreme - DIAKADI was there to show me the way. \r
Right away, I was impressed with my initial consultation with Gina, the general manager. She actually LISTENED to my concerns about starting a new program after a long absence from the gym and what types of experiences I had in the past. She helped me review the extensive roster of trainers at DIAKADI, tactfully steered me away from potential personality mismatches (I can be high maintenance) and led me to my personal savior - Martin Specter.\r
I cannot say enough about Martin - but here goes ... He's been with DIAKADI from the start (which goes to show that Billy & Mike understand that the key to a successful business is attracting the right talent ... more about them later) and they are fortunate to have him. I can't say enough positive things about my experience at Diakadi. Over the past several years, I have slowly watched the extra pounds creep on. I decided I really wanted to make a healthy lifestyle change. I was not a gym person and I avoided them due to inexperience and embarrassment. I took a tour of Diakadi and they recommended the perfect trainer for me. I have been working with an amazing trainer, Caitlyn Allen, for 9 months. She is supportive, knowledgable, and encouraging. She helped me feel comfortable going to the gym again. She is extremely motivating and always has a positive attitude. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a personal trainer.
Special commendation to my trainer, Tom Armenta, who has guided me to and maintained good health and strong body in a 65 year old. He maintains and advances his certifications, learning new techniques that he applies to his training programs, He individualizes the training for each client.
My trainer left 24-Hour Fitness and came here to Diakadi Body. He brought me along to continue our trainer-trainee relationship in a private club environment. It's clean, they provide free fruits, ice water not crowded, and best of fall, there's ample parking. Check them out online and arrange for a free tour and check out a trainer. You have nothing to lose.\r
Another thing I thing is cool is that I pay my trainer the fee, and a percentage of that goes to the gym for us to use the facilities.....I may be completely wrong about that, but that is how it is working.

I have been a trainer at many other gyms throughout SF and no one captures the ""personal"" in personal training like DIAKADI. It is a gym where only the best trainers work. It is clean, friendly, large, with equipment that no other gym has on their floors. I am proud to take my clients to DIAKADI. I have trained here from the beginning and there is no other gym that I would even think of taking my clients to. Everyone is friendly, and it doesn't have that typical gym ""feel"". Without at doubt the best personal training facility. My trainer Carol Catron pushes me to reach my goals, varies the workouts each time. They have every type of equipment, it is all in excellent condition and very clean. That is what strikes me most about this place - it is immaculate and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Diakadi is the best gym I've ever experienced. The owners and staff are at the tops in their field of physical training expertise. You will only understand the true value of the Diakadi experience by getting off your butt in 2006 and as their acronym states: "" Do It All, Kick Ass Doing It!"" Well organized gym with talented trainers who understand what each individual members goals and objectives are and wholl push you to achieve them. They vary the exercises on you so you never get bored and have me; who has hated exercise since school looking forward to working out.

Diakadi is by far the best training facility in SF. I've worked out at a lot of different gyms and there's no comparison. Diakadi is in an amazing loft-like space that has tons of room. You never feel like you're crowded or waiting for equipment. They have every type of fitness equipment imaginable, and everything is super clean and well-maintained. The best part is the trainers. They have a great group of trainers that make you feel welcome and motivated to work out. Even if I've had a long day at work, the minute I step into Diakadi I feel reenergized and ready to work hard and have fun.

This is the best place to exercise. The gym is spacious, clean and they have all the conventional equipment plus some great alternative things for exercising! I love the boxing room and hanging ropes. Honestly - I won't go anywhere else. My trainer pushes me and supports me at the same time.
You will love working out here...the trainers are all really good, everyone is friendly and helpful, the place is incredibly spacious, there is every type of equipment you can imagine and the cleanliness standards are VERY high. Diakadi Body is a beautiful, bright workout space. The trainer I work with is excellent. The workouts are the perfect mix of challenge without being excruciating. After only 6 sessions I feel significantly stronger.
