We love Little King, Michael and Jen!\r
They did our wedding rings, paying attention to every detail even with very simple design. And they have helped us time and again with repairs that other jewelers made necessary on my engagement ring! Their custom work is perfect and Michael's work is gorgeous- I honestly want every peice from the engagement rings to the punk silver. I cannot wait to go back when we have another occasion!\r
They think of every detail and know how to advise you when you're not sure, and they get everything right the first time. LOVE them!

I cannot say enough good things about Michael, the Jens, and the whole staff at Little King. They've been absolutely stupendous to work with, fantastically customer-focused, and extremely talented. They're thoughtful, great at following up on things, knowledgeable, and so much fun to be around that we honestly could've just hung out shooting the breeze with them all for hours. So customer-focused are they, that the last time we went to pick up our final products, they saw us pull up outside and had everything out and ready before we even walked in.

My fianc chose them to create my engagement ring (much to my joyful surprise), and they worked with him at length to pick the right stones, the perfect setting, and even the perfect size (which he only knew because he'd secretly traced the inside of one of my rings). When it came time to shop for wedding bands, we went back to them in their beautiful new SoHo location. I went in with a very vague idea of what I wanted for my band, and I ended up with absolutely the most perfectly stunning complement to my engagement ring. They worked diligently to find exactly the right stones, and were extremely happy in offering ideas and suggestions.

Even better than my band, though, is my fianc's, which was originally my dad's wedding band. It fit him perfectly, but was too thin, so Michael explained that he could add a millimeter of palladium to either side to give it a new unique look, but still maintain the original white gold band in the center. It is fantastic. It's absolutely one-of-a-kind, and it is such a perfect marrying (yuk yuk) of generations.

I could gush about everyone at Little King for paragraphs on end (and have), but the most telling thing I can offer is this: when we picked up our wedding bands, I was sad that the whole experience was over. They're simply magnificent, and I can't recommend them highly enough!

I got my engagement ring at a local jewelry store in my neighborhood and it is antique rose cut that my fiance chose and had custom made. While I LOVED the ring there were a few issues that I had with the setting so I decided to go back and talk to the designer. I had met him briefly before and assumed that he would work with me and want to help me out. To make a long story short he was less than interested in helping me make any alterations. He simply tried to convince me that my ring was perfect the way it was and that it was what everyone these days wanted.

I left a little sad leaving my ring behind to be re sized and have the stone tightened as it was already moving around. When I got my ring back there were clamp marks left on the sides of the ring. I was so frustrated I didn't even bother go back. I was discussing my issues with a friend when she mentioned Little King Ltd. and began raving about their work. I e mailed Jennifer soon after and she responded right away asking me to come in so we could discuss my ideas. When I got there both Jennifer and Michael were extremely welcoming and friendly. Michel showed me around the store, took a look at my ring and listened to my ideas about settings. He told me to make some drawings and to sleep on it but that whatever I wanted he could make happen. I ended up back the next day ready to commit. Even though he doesn't normally work with 14K white gold Micheal ended up making a trip to pick up the materials just to make the adjustments to my ring.

I picked the ring up yesterday and was blown away. It was exactly what I wanted and envisioned. A very small setting change has made all the difference in the world for me and I am so grateful to have found people that are such a pleasure to work with. I will definitely be getting my wedding band here and I could not give a higher recommendation if I wanted to. If you love antique jewelry, unique settings and stones as well as phenomenal craftsmanship, please check out Little King. They can custom make what appears to be anything and are so open to whatever the customer envisions. Thank you Little King!!

I really love Little King. My fiance and I had our wedding rings made here (mine had diamonds for $2k and his was a custom band for $1k) and keep coming back! (Christmas earrings, and Valentine's Day/birthday necklace & belt buckle.) We didn't have a large budget, and they were so nice and accommodating every step of the way. (Like when we bring our gigantic stroller, and little guy : )

I just finished reading '3 Strikes and You're Out' and I thought that I'd take a minute to maybe respond to some of her complaints because I thought they were unfair. This is a small business and they seem to get a bit of walk in traffic. Sometimes you need to look around on your own for a min while they greet others. It's really not that big of a deal.

Another time I asked Jennifer (via email!) if she could get us a couple boxes. Lo and behold there they were the next time I came in. True story :)

And thirdly, I always felt very comfortable with the amount of money we've spent and the service we've been offered. It is intimidating, especially in NYC, to go into a jewelry shop and not have a large budget. We were upfront and honest and they were totally cool with what we could afford. (WAYYY under $20k!!!)

See you at Christmas Little King!

Awful Service - 3 Strikes and You're Out

I really wanted to work with Little King. They are extremely talented and have great taste but there are only so many disappointments a girl can handle! Getting a custom engagement ring made is suppose to be a happy joyous experience and Little King just ruined for me.

Strike 1 - First Impressions Count

As soon as we walked in, the place was buzzing and we were eager to talk to someone about designing a custom engagement ring that my boyfriend would design. However, when we asked the tall blond woman about custom engagement rings and diamonds, she simply pointed to a bunch of boxes and said go look over there. Her cool attitude was unexpected especially given the positive reviews on yelp. We were looking to spend $20K and she acted like she couldn't care. We were completely taken back but shortly afterwards Jennifer, the owner came by. She was warm and eager to help so we decided to put the first impression behind us and give them another chance.

Strike 2 - I Don't Read Email

A few weeks later we started to swap emails with Jennifer, telling her what type of diamond we wanted, and made an appt to come see her. Via email she assured us that she was going to get some diamonds available for our Sat visit. My boyfriend confirmed that week that we were coming in and she said sure! I was really looking forward to it but when we arrived - not only did she not recall swapping emails with us but she did not get any stones and had nothing prepared. Her only defense was that she is bad with emails! WTF. Not only did she say specifically that she would get diamonds that week but in a followup email confirming our visit, she said Sure! How many emails does she respond to a day that she can completely forget about swapping emails with us? I was soooooo disappointed that I had to fight back tears. As soon as I left the store, I broke down in tears because I was really excited about starting the process. But once again Jennifer promised that she would have a few diamonds if we came in during the week and so I bit my lip, and decided to gave her one more chance.

Strike 3 - When is 2 a Few?

When I came in on Tuesday night, all Jennifer had were 2 diamonds - when is two ""a few?"" A few means more than 3. How does she expect us to decide on such an expensive purchase by looking at only ONE diamond. The reason why I said one even though she showed us two was because one did not meet our requirements which made it irrelevant. The second was a cushion diamond but every cushion is different. ONE diamond gives us nothing for comparison. When my friend shopped for diamonds in the diamond district, they showed her 15 diamonds that met her requirements. I don't expect Jennifer to do the same, but come on, when is 2 a few? 3 would have been the minimum we needed to see for comparison - I am SURE there are more than 3 cushions that meet our financial limits. Her defense was that she could not take more than 2 at a time - Why didn't you say that in advance to set our expectations? Also did she not feel the need to redeem herself after completely forgetting our first appointment? Once again, I was so disappointment that I had to fight back tears. This is suppose to be a happy joyous process. So I tried to be polite and said maybe we will find some in the diamond district and bring it back for her to put in the setting that my boyfriend wanted to design specifically for me.

However after we left the shop, she had the audacity to email us and say that she does not want our business. I am speechless. I really wanted this to work out. We were really excited about working with Little King but after 3 strikes and a bonus, one of the happiest moments in my life so far was filled with nothing but tears. Thank you Little King.

It was a rainy night earlier in the summer. A couple I know purchased their wedding bands at Little King and had a great experience. I made my way over to their East Village shop, down some small steps beneath a giant ring hanging out in front of the building. A four-story brick apartment building built in the 1950's. If you have never been to the East Village look it up. Home to beatniks, counterculture , protests and riots. It is also known as the birthplace and historical home of many artistic movements, including Punk Rock. It's a classic New York neighborhood and the owners of Little King fit right in.

Upon entering I was greeted with a great attitude. Truthfully this was my first stop on what I thought was going to be a long search for the best engagement ring. A research project into a field I know little of. A business of countless magazines and theories. Constant opinions on top of opinions. My biggest fear was that I was going to be given the hard-sell. Pressured into buying something by a salesperson monthly quota. I thought that this small couture East Village jewelry shop would be over priced and elitist. I could not have been more wrong and I'm ashamed that I even had that assumption.

The small shop is run by artists. In the back is their little workshop. You can see the silicone molds on shelves of all of the rings with brass castings made of most of them. I had a real conversation with them about everything from the neighborhood to motorcycles. One of the owners rides and is the master of the workshop. They do everything onsite except casting of the metal and of-course the mining of the diamonds. I was able to review settings, inspect the molds and even review diamonds straight from their suppliers. No pretense or posturing. No attitudes.

I walked in expecting to be taken for a ride (not on a motorcycle) because I knew nothing and instead I was treated like a person. I had an interest in learning about their process and they were willing to share. I did not feel like a customer.

I like a hands-on process. I was able to be as involved as I wanted to be. I did not waste their time and vice-versa. They are true artists running their own business in a town where many independent businesses fail. They'll work with your budget and produce an excellent product that is as good as you want it to be. If something can't be done, they will tell you.

Little King was recommended to us and since I've recommended it to others. We've brought antique jewelry in to be repaired. That day I walked in and walked out with a setting purchased and the ball started rolling on my engagement plans. My fiancee and I are now planning our wedding. Most importantly, dear reader, she gets a lot of compliments on the ring.

After a lot of research my husband and I went to Little King to get my engagement and wedding rings remade. The originals weren't really to my taste, which tend towards the very delicate. At first I was a little concerned by some of the pieces on their website that wouldn't suit me at all - like giant skull rings- but it is a testament to the Little King's versitility that I now wear some of the most lovely and delicate rings that get tons of compliments. The two owners Michael and his wife (Jen?) are very helpful, friendly and unprententious. They understand if you are on a budget and were very supportive of the fact that I actually wanted a very small ring even though that might cut into whatever profit that they could make.If I had any criticism, it would be that the process went a little slow, but since we were already married I wasn't in a huge hurry. Ended up going with one of their existing designs and the lovely rose gold that they sell. Really, we've never had an experience with a jeweler that made us feel remotely comfortable before this point and that really makes all the difference. I hope my husband goes back!

Pros: Excellent customer service; unusual jewelry, original design

Cons: A little slow and maybe a little disorganized

FYI: I have not yet purchased from Little King. I met these guys at a wedding salon in midtown. My partner and I visited their shop and were impressed with the range of styles and personal touch you can apply to your ring. The on site workshop and interactions with the craftsman gave us a good indication of their skills and personal touch. We are very excited to work with them and create our rings =)

My fiance wanted a band to go with a leaf-and-vine estate ring that we chose as our engagement ring, and after conferring with Little King, we chose an exquisite rose gold version of a white gold ring they had on hand, delicate with intricate floral designs and a personal inscription. It is just perfect and bridges the New York scene where my fiance has spent her career with the Missouri farm (leaf-and-vine) where she grew up. We were looking for magic, and we found it, and creation of the ring and delivery was very prompt. Magic again.

They do amazing custom designs here and their stones are very high quality. They helped my husband design a beautiful and unusual engagement ring that fits me perfectly. They made the perfect matching wedding ring for me based on a picture that I drew and were very patient with me even though I kept asking for things! They worked on it until I was happy and gave us a great deal. I will go to them forever!

Went here for an engagement ring. They were very friendly and low-pressure and had a design that I really loved. However, I would be very on top of them on any deadlines they promise to have things to you by -- I think it's definitely a case of the squeaky wheel getting the oil and if you let the store's very laid-back vibe lull you into thinking everything will be taken care of, it may take months and months to get your jewels. I came away with a really lovely ring, but went elsewhere when it came time to shop for the wedding bands. (DVVS in Chelsea. They're also very chill; don't do as much custom work, but are much more on top of things!)

he experience was excellent. I went in with a budget for an engagement ring, and they were able to meet it with excellent and ""traditional"" materials. I needed an alternative to platinum, and they suggested palladium. Through their information and my own research, I found that palladium is one of 5 metals in the platinum family. It shares all of the same properties as platinum, except it is a bit lighter. Otherwise, it is just as strong and resistant, and it looks the same... same sheen etc. Also, i wanted a small diamond for taste and budget reasons. They were able to obtain 3 diamonds for me to choose from in a matter of 2 days. They were all of excellent quality... gorgeous. They simply don't put sub-par quality stones in their jewelry... they design everything, and they're not interested in representing their work with bad stones. So, basically, I purchased a beautiful palladium band, English Arts and Crafts style (or maybe Art Nouveau-ish) designed by them and adjusted for my small .45 carat diamond. The design is different but totally tasteful and timeless, NOT trendy. The diamond is amazing... a small one, but unbelievably reflective, sharp, and clear. They gave me an excellent, unique, artistic, and beyond-quality ring at my budget, and within 9 days from the moment I stepped through the door. Not to mention, they're cool folks that enjoy what they do... it's a comfortable experience!

Not to mention, they're cool folks that enjoy what they do... it's a comfortable experience!

.

The people at Little King are very nice, and their custom made jewelry is their specialty. However, I would advise you to NOT take antiques there for sizing, repair, etc. Antique jewelry is not their expertise. They are well-meaning, but they can mislead you into thinking they know more about antique pieces than they actually do. A ring they confidently told me was cast in the 1940s or later was later appraised to be handmade from the turn of the century. Go to them for what they're good at!

If you're looking for a special piece of jewelry (bridal or otherwise) and want a low-pressure place with people that actually care about what you want, regardless of how small your budget is, go to Little King. Michael and Jennifer are wonderful. I went in a week before proposing to my girlfriend, explaining that I had her grandmother's diamond, which was set in a necklace, wanted to use that to propose and then bring my girlfriend back so she would have a say in the ring she would wear for the rest of her life (imagine that). Rather than push me to hurry up and get a ring because ""that's what women want"", she thought it was a great idea and made me feel totally relaxed about the process. We came back together the following week (she said 'yes' obviously) and looked through some options. Eventually, we decided that we were probably going to want to design our own setting, but we didn't have time to do that before going away for the holidays - and to see both of our families. Jennifer suggested taking the necklace setting and placing it as-is on a silver band as a temporary fix so that she'd have something on her finger. Sounded good. We got it back in two days and it was AMAZING. So much so that my fiance is considering keeping her ring like this and we would just switch the band for a white gold one. Knowing that we might actually like the ""temporary"" setting, they could have created something fine but not great in order to get us to go for the pricier option. Instead, they did fantastic work and they got it back to us so fast. No matter what we do with the engagement ring, we will definitely go back to talk to them about wedding bands. We can't recommend them highly enough.

Little King Ltd. is absolutely amazing.\r
Michael, Jennifer, and Angela immediately made us feel at home, and listened intently to what we wanted for our wedding bands. I'd brought along some concept sketches, and all three immediately went to work on how to best bring the ideas into reality. \r
Michael quickly came up with some great ideas, and Jennifer helped us choose the right stone, seamlessly blending her practical advice with Michael's creative genius.\r
Throughout the process of bringing these rings into solid form, Jennifer, Michael, and Angela gave us options within our budget, while also explaining what could be done for a little more money. This was done without pushing, pitching, or up-selling: We were specific about what we wanted and they, in turn, gave us several ways in which it could be realized.\r
They also gave us accurate time estimates and delivered each stage of fabrication as promised.\r
In the end, two exquisite rings were created; true to what I'd envisioned but all the more magnificent because of the thought, creativity, and artistic skill that had gone into making them. Michael and his staff took my concept and ran with it, improving upon it while staying true to the specifics. Were I a trained goldsmith, I could not have made the rings any more perfect, beautiful or truer to what I'd seen in my mind.\r
The rings literally took my breath away, and elicited a similar reaction from my girlfr... wife when I presented them to her. \r
They fit us perfectly - both our fingers and our personalities.\r
A far cry from the dark, sleazy feeling we got just walking down 47th street, Michael, Jennifer, and Angela have created a space that feels warm and welcoming. Their personalities are open, fun, and sincere. These are honest businesspeople and artists - people who obviously care about what they are doing and love doing it.\r
\r
We recommend them highly, and look forward to visiting, and doing business with them again in the future!

My boyfriend and I had been discussing rings for a few weeks when I stumbled upon Little King on this site. The reviews were so great and their website is so amazing that I knew I had to at least visit their shop. I had looked online exhaustively for rings, we went to the diamond district, Zales, you name it. Everything I tried on was lovely, but completely impersonal and overpriced. Nothing felt representative of us as a couple. \r
\r
We went to Little King on a rainy Saturday. It's a tiny shop in the East Village and it was a little tough to find. We met with Jennifer and she unlocked the cases and advised me to try on whatever looked interesting. So I did. Throughout the process I was sure I wanted white gold, until I saw their stunning rose gold rings. My boyfriend then worked with her (quite secretively) until they came up with the right design, which he had cast in rose gold with a rose-cut diamond. \r
\r
The ring is absolutely beautiful and there is nothing about it I would change. He reported great service from the people at Little King, with no delays. I have a gorgeous custom-made ring that was reasonably priced. \r
\r
Thank you to Jennifer and Michael. I wish you tons of success in the future; you deserve it.

Michael and Jennifer at Little King are simply the best. Going to Little King is more like visiting friends than going to a business. We got our wedding rings and other items there, and each time we go they always remember us and take great care of us.\r
\r
On top of this, the style of their work is completely unique, one-of-a-kind, and fantastic. They will work with you to help you get just the right piece, and make sure you can do what you want within your budget.\r

If you are looking for something special, totally unique, and hand-crafted, Little King is the place.

These guys are all great. Not only is friendly service is a given, but the quality and timeliness of their work is amazing. I recently went to them with a few vague ideas for an engagement ring for my fiancee and they helped me tremendously even suggesting customizing a ring meant for a differently cut diamond. Because my fiancee lives in Canada and my next trip was coming up, I had a very hard deadline for when the ring needed to be done and they easily beat the date. Most importantly, my fiancee loved the ring and is so happy! We're definitely going here to get our wedding bands...and I imagine much more jewelry in the future.\r

Cons: the space is small so it can get pretty hectic sometimes - but they do their best and traffic ebbs and flows

i cannot imagine going anywhere else for custom jewelry. they have everything and can do anything. and Michael & Jennifer are terrific people. GO!!, just to see the fascinating display cases.

So my fiance and I had my engagement ring made at Little King.. and it looks AMAZING! I went into the shop (after doing A LOT of research) with a picture of what I wanted, approx. how many stones I wanted, that I wanted a sapphire in the center, etc.. we decided on a sapphire that they had in the shop ~ which is the perfect color blue in every light! I talked about the design I had in mind, showed them the photo and all I had to say was keep it similar to this photo, but put your own spin on it. and exactly 4 weeks to the day, the ring was finished! When my fiance went back to purchase the sapphire they gave him an estimated timeframe to contact them by ~ I had heard of little king before via the knot.. and some of the brides raved about the quality but mentioned that you needed to keep in touch with them often since they are very busy... and that is exactly what he did... and we had no problems with them AT ALL! When he finally proposed the ring was everything I dreamed of, and I get compliments on it constantly! I am REALLY happy with it, the quality, and with the service. I plan on getting our wedding band designed from them as well! \r
My main tip of advice, is just to stay on top of it, call them when they say to call them, and make sure to make yourself known to Jennifer and Michael (the owners) they have alot of clients and I can understand how trying to remember everything ALL the time can get hard... so just have a voice, they will hear it!\r
I love this place and would recommend them to anyone!

I do not recommend them because despite the reviews and the various assurances you may receive from them, there is no guarantee that they will deliver. I went to Little King around the spring of 2007 for a engagement ring. Based on the reviews, I thought I would be getting attentive service. When I visited, Michael assured me that he would email me a design in approximatley 6-8 weeks. It is now February 2008. Over the past 10-11 months I have sent them emails asking for the design, or at least a status report, and received assurances that the design will be coming. I have still yet to see a design and I'm not holding my breath that I'll ever see one.

I went to Little King to buy an engagement ring after reading all the wonderful recommendations on how honest and well they treat customers. From the moment I walked in I felt taken advantage of. \r
\r
I immediately explained that I was not interested in playing games. I had a set budget, parameters for what I wanted, and there was no wiggle room. I was told ""No problem, that's absolutely workable.""\r
\r
Three visits later I was magically told I would need to double my budget.\r
\r
The inconsistencies:\r
1) Platinum is as cheap as gold these days b/c gold is at an all time high. Not true. While gold is at an all time high, platinum is still 3 or 4 times more expensive.\r
2) We won't charge extra to re-size. Yes, they will.\r
3) We can do this specific ring for 2k. (Second visit it became 3k...third visit it became 4k)\r
\r
The quality of their stuff is good and I can see why people love it...but you have to have money to spend and not mind paying double for retail as opposed to wholesale in the diamond district.

I love jewelry -- and I love Little King. It's like going to a restaurant where the chef comes out and discusses the dish with you -- what a dream! Jennifer and Michael not only know what they are doing, but they know that your input is essential for a happy outcome. So, together -- using your fantasy about what you want -- and their expertise, patience and huge talent, you'll find you have created the perfect piece of jewelry for you.\r
The pieces I have from Little King are beautiful, I love them, and best of all, I get compliments on them every time I wear them! (Which is the point, of course!)\r
This is a wonderful place -- Jennifer has the patience of a saint, she and Michael are both artists -- you'll walk out of there with a great piece of jewelry, and you'll have a great time!\r
Cost: In a pretty shop like this, you might expect to be intimidated into spending more than you can afford -- not so. Jenny and Michael respect your budget and will work with you to make something gorgeous -- without taking you to the cleaners.\r
This is a great place run by great people -- from ""vibe"" to workmahsnip, it's the best!

I had a custom engagement ring made, using a diamond from my fiance's mother. On the plus side: knowledgeable, personable, very friendly staff; very open to your ideas; they do beautiful work. On the negative side, procrastinators beware: you do have to follow up on these folks if you want prompt service. They have a tendency to let things slide unless you're reminding them, say maybe every couple of weeks. But I was pleased on the whole and would do business with them again.

My fiance and I went into Little King in early June with his mother's and grandmother's engagement rings and a vague idea. Jennifer was very helpful in narrowing down what I liked. I knew I wanted a garnet center stone, and she didn't try to talk me into anything more expensive (as had been the case with earlier jewelers I met). They didn't have any in the store, but she went and got a selection of garnets and had me come back another day to choose which I liked, offering to go get more if none suited me. She was also understanding of how important the metalwork was to me (whereas other jewelers kept trying to convince me that having a big diamond was more important than a beautifully worked band), and was very helpful in suggesting ways we could incorporate the family stones into the ring. After getting an idea of what I wanted she had my fiance come in by himself to finalize everything so I would still be surprised. The result is amazing! I get compliments from strangers about how pretty and unique it is. Three months later I still find myself spacing out and staring at it all the time. Also, the ring ended up costing less than half than we were initially quoted (it came to less than $1000) and was done in time to show off at my family 4th of July picnic.

After feeling disheartened by jewelers in the diamond district and the usual retailers, I went to Little King for an engagement ring. I could not have had a more different experience. I worked with them to get a ring that feels both fresh and like an antique somehow. They were committed to staying within a budget and, unlike most places where I was being constatntly persuaded to stretch that budget, they actually talked me out of spending more for something that didn't seem like what I wanted. As a result my fiance is thrilled and several people have commented on how it is one of the nicest rings they have seen. They turned the experience into a fun, educational one and made the whole process pleasant and memorable. I sing their praises constantly!

Words can not describe how glad I am to have stumbled upon Little Kings Ltd. To make a long story short....I brought a extremely detailed drawing of my ""soon to be"" wedding band to Michael of Little Kings. And let me tell you.....wow! This is the greatest ring ever created. (go on the Little Kings website so see if the uploaded the ring of the White Gold Men's Wedding Band with Mountains and Waves, with a splash of Blue Diamonds, Blue Sapphire and Diamonds in the tops of the mountains) The detail of the ring and customer service of the entire company blew me away.\r
Thanks for everything Michael and the entire Little Kings Ltd. company.\r

My wife, then fiance, found Little King through their web site when we were looking for an engagement ring. We went down to the store, looked around, and found the perfect ring in their collection. We were very taken with Michael and Jennifer, and highly amused by them. When it came time to buy the wedding rings, there was no question where we'd go. My ring is another of their original (not custom) designs, and I love it. Her ring, through a miscommunication, was the wrong width and thickness. Since they were on vacation during our wedding we had to get another ring somewhere else. They took her ring back with a full refund with no questions, grief, or problems. I'm sending everyone I know.

After reading reviews online, I visited Little King in Feb 2007 to design a wedding band for my Sept 2007 wedding. I received a family heirloom and wanted to created a matching band so Little King seemed like the perfect place to go. Jennifer was very nice and Michael spoke to me about options, showing me molds they have created in the past. They told me that I had plenty of time to design a ring, but there were other orders before mine and it would probably take a few weeks to get started. A few weeks turned into a few months and I stopped by the store to check on the status. Michael told me they were short staffed, but assured me that he could create the ring in as little as 1 month if needed. I waited another month and received no response, so I stopped by again to check on the status. It was now June (4 months later) and Jennifer told me that the store was being remodeled and took pictures of my engagement ring telling me they would get started on the design and to wait for an email. Once again, no emails or calls after waiting another month, so I stopped by in July 2007 to check in. When I met with Jennifer she told me that they would not be able to make the ring in time for my wedding and if I wanted it created, I would receive it after my wedding date...at this point I gave up after 7 months. Little King has great ideas, but the management and organization is lacking. If they knew they were not able to fulfill my request within 7 months, then they should have told me up front.

Fiance and I went here for our wedding bands - his was pretty simple (leaf pattern to match the pattern in my antique art-deco engagement ring that was in his family for two generations) but mine was a challenge because my ring was so dainty and delicate and the stone required a band that wrapped around the setting a little bit but in a certain way. It was done about a week after they estimated (during the busy wedding season) and after only the second visit, they got it perfect (they're jewelry designers, not mind-reading magicians). Perfect size, perfect shape, perfect everything. The rings now look like an antique set. Email me if you want to see a photo. I will love this ring for the rest of my life.

Pros: Great service, one-of-a-kind, custom jewelry

We went here looking for a warmer tone with depth for my fiance's ring- Jennifer suggested a combination of metals and it's perfect- not too gold, not too platinum- just the right strength and darkness for what my FH was looking for - it's a place with an edge and I wouldn't normally like their stuff, (so don't go by the website if you hate the stuff- they can do simple things) but I loved that it exists and love the service.

Pros: didn't try to sell me on a wedding ring, said it was better to go to my e-ring store

.

I went in to get a custom ring made. My first impression was that the older couple of men who run the place were nice. However, after listening to them talk on and on and on, I began to get tired of their schtick. One of them talked about his Harley; the other talked about a custom belt buckle he has with a scorpion emblem and a hidden knife ""in case he needs it."" Nice.\r
\r
After all their b.s. schmoozing, I told them I wanted a silver ring made a certain way. They constantly told me that silver would get ""banged up"" and would not stop trying to up-sell me to white gold or platinum. It was incredibly annoying. After I worked out the design, they promised a certain date for delivery. Not good on their word. They delivered over a month late and after I had to call several times to ask what had happened. And get this: when I called, they asked if I had ordered the ring in ""white gold""? The schmoes.\r
\r
All in all, just an average place. You can do better.

If my boyfriend and I would've gone to another place to buy our committment rings, I'm certain that we would not have had the same results; the rings would not have been ready on the same day in three hours. What made the process even better was the atmosphere of the shop.... It was very welcoming- Jennifer was conversational, friendly, and patient. Our rings came out beautiful... They were very unique to begin with (rose gold with celtic spirals). Thanks to Michael. We will definitely be back to buy our wedding bands.

We only discovered Little King after we were already married, when we began looking for parent gifts, to thank them for our wedding. It turns out that more than just engagement rings and wedding bands, they make all KINDS of gorgeous pieces. Working with us, they helped us turn our vague ideas into a stunning pair of cufflinks and a necklace that incorporated images of personal importance to us and to my parents, the colors of the wedding, and our personal taste. We were thrilled and my parents were stunned and delighted.

As I looked at my engagement ring, I was blown away by how absolutely breathtakingly beautiful it was. The detail, the color and the setting were just the most gorgeous things I had ever seen. If I was put in a room with a thousand rings, this is the exact one I would have picked out. It truly was the ring of my dreams, given to me in the most perfect place by the man of my dreams.\r
\r
From that moment on I have heard nothing but how original, how beautiful, how special my ring is. I feel as though it was made to sit on my finger, which it was. No one in the world has a ring like this and it is as special to me as the man who gave it to me. \r
\r
When I heard about the place it was created, Little King Ltd., I was so grateful for how much time and effort must have been placed on creating this exquisite piece of jewelry. I always knew that I wanted a different sort of engagement ring, but something this spectacular was beyond my wildest dreams. I cannot express what it means to me, and now that the shock has worn off a bit I only stare at it for a few hours a day. For the first 2 weeks I did nothing but stare at it, each time discovering new and beautiful aspects I hadn?t noticed before.\r
\r
It truly is an heirloom, the most wonderful piece of jewelry I have ever owned. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my engagement truly perfect.\r

We had a problem: it looked like we might have to get married without rings. We couldn't agree on a style for our wedding bands, and we had spent so much time searching for the right ones, we only had days until the ceremony.\r
\r
We showed up at Little King five days before our wedding. We figured, at best, our request for custom rings would be answered with a chuckle and a sarcastic ""Good Luck!"", all while being shown the door. Instead, Jennifer very patiently asked us what we were after, lead us through our options, and came up with the perfect solution: simple gold bands for the ceremony that we could modify and build upon after the wedding.\r
\r
We returned a few days later to choose from a handful of rings Jennifer had picked out for us. They matched our tastes perfectly and, as others have said, were very reasonably priced. We had rings!\r
\r
Thank you Little King for making our Big Day complete!\r
\r
p.s. We've returned a few times for additions to my wife's rings, and Michael has perfectly executed everything she's asked for. Thanks again!

I don't know why anyone would get their ring anyplace other than here. \r
\r
My fiance got to work with the designer to create a ring she thinks is perfect. They also took the budget I had (which I know was low) and worked backwards to make sure we got the best stone for the ring we had in mind, while still keeping with the design we really wanted.\r
\r
I never would have believed we would get such a high quality ring for such a reasonable price. It is everything we wanted in a ring, both in design and size of the stone and I did not spend a dime more than I wanted to. I cannot recommend Little King enough.\r

I have been looking for a trendy necklace for a night on the town, or something a bit more sophisticated, I was unbelievably pleased with the result of going into this store. Thanks so much for you're patience! I was able to buy necklaces that were reasonably priced and fit like magic, thanks again! I will be coming back for all of my jeweler needs.\r

Pros: Diamonds, Service, Patience

Cons: Location

Michael and Jennifer are artists. They will make whatever design you bring in, but they will not allow it to look like cr*p. They know their stuff, so just TRUST THEM. As artists, they sometimes need a little reminding to get things done in a timely fashion, but those customers who are planning weddings will be very familiar with this phenomenon and should take it in stride. Doing so is well worth the patience! They made a ruby engagement ring and two wedding rings, all 18k yellow gold, for my wife and me. We brought in my half-baked sketches, and they turned them into gold. Pretty cool. And they are a DEAL. One would expect to pay a lot more for custom jewelry. And best of all, they are great to just hang out and bullsh!t with. Which is a good thing, because their store is so busy, you will probably have to stand around for awhile before Michael can give you a status report. Joe is also a great guy, and very helpful. Thanks, Little King!

I knew that I didn't want your average engagement ring, but didn't have a strong idea of what I did want beyond that. My fiance worked with Michael to come up with a ring design based on my tastes and style and the result is the perfect ring for me (no easy feat). I adore it and get compliments all the time. Michael and Jennifer are both excellent to work with and highly knowledgeable--we were so happy with the engagement ring we went back to get our wedding bands. \r

'Fiance' here -- Michael and Jennifer are a pleasure to work with. After a long and somewhat disheartening search for the right engagement ring, they were a breath of fresh air. They were very reasonably priced, and happy to work with me to customize the ring to exactly what I wanted. Both my fiance and I went back for our wedding bands.

They custom made a beautiful crown ring for me. It consists of stones from my engagment and wedding rings. Michael also added these wonderfully colored diamonds. I had wanted a unique ring that I felt represents both my hushand and me. Little King has met my expectations a millions times over. We will without a doubt work with Michael and Jennifer again! If you have any taste in jewerly you should go to Little King!

I had been wanting to buy myself an unconventional but beautiful ring, something individual but also something that I would never get tired of. I looked around at both vintage jewelry stores and some new/modern places, and just wasn't liking anything, everything was either too glitzy or too mundane. I read about Little King online and liked their work, so I went in. Michael and Jennifer would not have been more wonderful, they both talked with me about design and I also got a great education about colored stones. The place has a warm, individual atmosphere, you feel like you are visiting old friends right away, there is no attitude or pretention. I had a lot of ideas in my head, I was utterly confused (unusual for me; I know what I like in other types of jewelry, but I'm at a loss when it comes to rings), and the second I walked into their store, I found a ring that I loved - the combo of purple-blue and green colored stones was unconventional and modern, but the setting felt very vintage, which was ideal. I still went through lots of ideas with them, even though this ring was perfect. Jennifer even brought in samples of other colored stones for me, before I finally decided. They were creative, respectful, patient, and also, so much fun to talk to. I usually know what I want pretty quickly, but after all of my sketches and discussions with them, I wound up going with that first ring that I saw in their store, I really couldn't improve on it (and, I used to be an accessory designer!) But, I could not stop thinking about the ring in the store. Jennifer said that sometimes, a piece of jewelry just jumps out at you, and that this one really did. When I finally decided on the ring in the store, I put it on, and it fit perfectly, too (I had been trying it on my pinky until then! Every day, I look at it on my hand, watch it change color in different light, and SMILE! I will only be going to Michael and Jennifer from now on.

I remember the first time I entered this little oasis on East Ninth Street. It was more gallery than jewelry store and at no time was I overwhelmed with shiny things to look at. I wasn't in there more than a minute when I found a gorgeous but oddly shaped ring that I had to have. As I went from one display case to another, with each containing more beautiful pieces than the last I knew I'd stumbled onto something special. I've never really been a jewelry person, but these ""baubles"" had a certain depth to them. They had soul. The owners sum it up best, ""We're trying to design modern heirlooms."" I own three pieces and in my book they've succeeded. Thanks Little King.

I was never excited about engagement rings until I went to Little King! I worked with Michael in designing my very own antique-inspired piece and it's amazingly beautiful! If you want to get involved in the process of creating your own piece, go to Little King. Michael, Jennifer and everyone at Little King is amazingly talented and so helpful in creating something that matches your own personal style. Prices are very reasonable and their product is top notch. They also have really pretty necklaces, cufflinks, etc. I highly recommend Little King!

little king has always been my only destination for presents for my mother in law. they have created beautiful pieces for me that have made me look like a star and brought huge hugs from the mom. who wouldnt appreciate beautiful emerald earings created just for them! they always work within my budget. Their original designs are unique and beautiful. Based on their work, I had them create a companion band to an existing antique ring of great sentimental value. The ring they created looked nothing like we'd discussed, but worse they severely damaged my existing ring. When asked about the damage, they blamed it on the ring -- it didn't match their aesthetic sense so they changed it, which they'd failed to mention in prior discussions. They refused to apologize or to repair it and I had to fight them to return the deposit.

These guys are AMAZING! My wife & I go to Little King all the time! It's an addiction. They have the coolest jewelry. Rock n' Roll stuff. Beautiful delicate girly-stuff. Cool, unique & original designs. Much better than Chrome Hearts - & they're far more reasonable - & will make custom jewelry for you. I got my now-wife a diamond engagement ring from them - GORGEOUS! - it's by far the prettiest engagement ring either of us have come across - designed by Michael Regan - that continues to draw ""oohs""/""aahs"" & questions of ""where did you get that?"" from all my bride's friends & family. Jennifer (the gemologist) & Michael (the designer) are a warm & talented team & I'm glad that they do what they do. Thanks, Little King! I'm glad you guys are on the planet. & more conveniently, located close by in the East Village!
