"If you haven't experienced the ENDUP, you haven't experienced San Francisco!" noted a patron of 15 years. The eclectic mix of people who frequent the Endup--gay and straight, young and old, of all colors, creeds, and backgrounds reflects a respect for diversity and individuality that is the essence of San Francisco. In Short
As one of the city's few after-hours clubs, the Endup hosts notorious marathon parties in a multifaceted environment. House-music enthusiasts check themselves in mirrored columns while sweating on the smallish but lively dance floor. In one room, fireside seating, a pinball table and a pool table provide a dose of chill. Outside, green foliage, a waterfall, and a two-tiered deck comprise the city's most tropical backyard patio.

Key Points

  • Your Home Away From Home . . . the Epito
  • Garden, Waterfall, Fireplace
  • Celebrating 35 years!!

The Inside Scoop

  1. Know Before You Go - The Endup does not accept credit cards, however, there is an ATM on-site.
  2. When to Go - Dedicated night crawlers flock to Endup's most legendary party, Tea Dance, which runs Sunday mornings (6am-noon).
  3. Look Good - There is no such thing as inappropriate dress. Everything from Prada to Halloween costumes are welcome.

Bad Night or Just Awful Club ?

by XSFX

I turned 21 not long ago and didn't have a party or did nothing to celebrate it, instead I waited 2 months to go to San Francisco >I'm from Seattle, WA< let myself loose and make up for that time... well that went down the tube... I was staying at the King George Hotel, called a cab to take me there and as soon as we pulled up the the place we noticed that there was nobody there no signs no nothing >10.00pm< ... I went back to my hotel extremely angry and looked for another place, I ended up going to badlands, had a blast there... but I read so much about the endup that I thought I could not miss it, got on a cab at 2 in the morning... arrived, had to pay 20 bucks to get in... ridiculous right ? .... anyways I got in and walked around a bit to see how the layout was... the dance floor was kinda smalll but didnt mind much about it... there is this area next to the bar that I didn't get... is that some kind of VIP area or what was it ??? then there was a weird sitting place on the back of that and the patio... didnt care for that either.... but what REALLY puzzled me was that I saw many straight asian couples, older ones.........!!! the music was good, but the vibe was just not there, the whole place feels old and dirty unlike badlands where everything seems to be squeaky clean and new.... i felt a couple times like approaching ppl but then a girl woulld come to the guy and start... doing their thing........ soooo i left within an hour and a half.... I know it sounds like a long time but I wanted to see if something good would happen, it didnt.... went back to my hotel super disappointed.... next day I obviously went back...... to BADLANDS that is !!! I'm planning to go back during the pride parade time and I'm kinda of thankful that I "visited" this place so that I know where to go and not to recommend it to anyone... GO TO BADLANDS PPL !!!!

Pros: Music ?

Cons: Waste of space... too many straight ppl ?

The EndUp Has Lost A Fan: Money Changes Everything

by agenthosen

The EndUp is one of those clubs I had heard about for years before ever stepping foot in. Once I moved to a house a couple blocks away, I knew it wouldn't be long before I experienced the infamous club for myself. What I discovered was a place that soon became my new favorite late night/weekend morning dancing venue--The patio with it's waterfall and fountain, the chill space with it's comfy fur covered couch and warm fireplace. Yes, the people hurling in the garbage can, the long lines for the bathroom with people passed out in the stalls, the aggressive, bug-eyed, sweaty men and the stiletto-heeled women trying to swim in the fountain and hanging their breasts over the balcony certainly made it clear how it had earned it's less-than-pure reputation, but it was actually cool, and I developed a quick affinity for it-- especially when it plays host to some of my favorite parties. However, my experience this last Saturday/Sunday has now made me wonder if the EndUp has finally become just another big money club with a lot of attitude and no soul. The patio was still there, but the comfy, fur covered seating? Gone. In it's place was a sea of ugly, Camel Cigarette brand tables. In fact, the Camel brand was appallingly everywhere, and only showed that the owners have given up style and class for free gear from cigarette companies. New furniture aside, the most disappointing moment came when we left and tried to return 2 hours later in the morning, to find that although the party we had come to support was going on until noon, the folks at the door would be charging us a brand new $20 entrance fee. They insisted it was a "different" party, and our stamps had expired at 7am, even though we'd only come back for the end. The nasty woman at the ticket window screeched at us, "we have to make money too!" as though we were vermin trying to rip them off despite having spent buckets at the bar all night long. A neighbor and a patron, the EndUp has lost me as a fan.

Cons: Tricky, unfair entrance fees

Best late night/early morning night life

by jm_inc_prof_partier

Lets be honest everyone is high at the endup. You go there to do that sort of thing. The club itself is kind of dingy and gross, but when your high, you don't care. The music is good, you can always find a dance partner, even at 8 a.m. on Sat. morning. IMO Sun. mornings are the best time to go. Lots of hot girls and guys are there for the taking. All in all you will either love the endup or hate it. And always remember: everyone ends up at the endup.

Pros: always find parking, open all the time on weekends, better than average looking crowd, eveyone is very easy to talk to and friendly

Cons: bouncers pat you down like crazy, get caught with anything illegal bouncers not very nice at all

Family

by azboogie46

Going to the End Up is like getting together with family (the ones that you look forward to seeing) My partner Bob and I have been "hanging out" at the End Up for many years and although we have recently relocated to Arizona, the End Up will always be the place we feel welcome and loved. If you have never been there, you are missing a chance to experience what San Francisco is all about. It's about being yourself, not being judged by your lifestyle, your skin color, your status or beliefs, but being welcomed as an individual who like everyone else is experiencing the same sense of freedom, acceptance, and bonding through the beat of the music

Pros: Atmosphere, music, great staff

Cons: Sushi

EndUp is better than ever!

by sadvanilee

The new owners have given the place a much needed cleanup and the endup is better than ever. The patio is still one SF's best, and the weekend marathons are amazing.

Pros: Clean, open late, great DJ's and drinks.

Cons: Crowded after hrs, get in a little earlier and set in for the night.

Best 24hour Party...

by plushusnati

this was the first club I went to when i first moved to San Francisco...and when i come to the city (4 times a year)...I go to the End Up. the party recently got ferocious...I think it's the new ownership...brings back the old days...

Pros: music, atmosphere, people

Cons: I don't go for the drink...but it's there...most people drink water...that's how hot the party is...i guess that's a pro.

the only place to End-UP

by latinbabe87

This is the only place to End-UP after a nite of partin'! All my friends N I always hang out here for Drinks, Good Music to chill or to Dance to. The service from the bartenders N the freindly security make this a safe & fun place to be. The outside patio area is GREAT!!! to be able to lounge & socialize out in the sunshine makes it twice as fun!!

Pros: lots of lounge area, outside heat lamps, games

Cons: no parking lot

where someone you know may be there....

by michelleatencion

No matter how long it's been you know the second you walk in your somewhere familiar. The music lures you in and either playing pool, chillin on the patio, or dancing there heart out is someone you recognize... so kick back get a drink and enjoy the music because the DJ's are there for ur- workin it. Most times it happens to get a little crowded but it's worth the good time!!!

Pros: Good Music, Fun people, out-there talks

Best SF Club

by sfclubkid

The Endup... contrary to previous opinions expressed here... is cheese free. This is the best place to get down in SF. I would recommend Kit Kat over the other nights when you can hear Jellybear or Leonard from In House throwdown. And yes, there are loads of tweakers but hey... that's what makes the party go off after all, no?

Pros: Music

SF Club History

by szyzyg

This place may have a gay history but it's a lot less evident these days, now it's more famous for cheezy house music, so San Francisco is the best place for it. The Back patio makes it a great place to come on sundays in the middle of the day, just relax a little and people watch in the sun. Every now and thene there'll be a good DJ, but there are too many amateurs who just want to be David Harness or Garth (I wish they'd pick better role models). Despite all this, it feels like a good place. Probablty the last honest club in the city, everyone is there to party, rather than to be seen in the right place.

Pros: Honest Vibe, Back Patio

Cons: Cheezy Music, Lots of Tweakers

Mecca for Underground House

by annon

Listen miss honey, the Endup isn't for the weak or for bogus posers who have no appreciation for real house music.--If you don't get it, that is truly unfortunate.

The vibe is always on and the crowd and staff friendly. But in the end it is ALL about the music. I would have given it more stars if I could.

Pros: MUSIC!!!, friendly crowd, stiff drinks

The Only Real Vibe in the City

by devotedone

This place is more than legendary, it is an establishment for many. A Dj from Europe, upon his first visit to the EndUp, noted that the clientele of the EndUp were true "connoiseurs" of dance music. The vibe is thick, the people not pretentious, and the music is always DOPE.

Diverse and Fabulous

by seneca

The EndUp is a fun, casual party spot for music lovers of all kinds. The bartenders are friendly and fast. The drink menu isn't that extensive but what they have they serve with flair. The atmosphere is great. Unisex bathrooms, a dance floor, pool table, and an outdoor patio for smokers. The cover is a tad high at times, but for the smiling staff it's worth it.

Pros: Nice Staff, ample seating, interesting people

Cons: Good music, smoking section, after hours events

"Even my parents went to the End Up." Great place to meet "out of the ordinary" people. David Harness is just about the best and hardest working DJ I've seen. He is "everywhere". Thank god too cus he makes the Endup come alive when he's there.

Did I mention I met my love there? It could happen.

Pros: Good parking, Music, Dance floor

Cons: Sometimes too crowded, Weather is a factor
