I've spent a long time in one form of the service industry or another and lately I've become more and more aware of the distinct LACK of service I get in most retail environments. I've noticed that many salespeople either dont know what they're doing or dont want to help and I'm happy to say that my experience at Jack Rabbit couldnt have been more to the contrary!

I was greeted promptly and politely, asked what I was looking for and directed to Nina, a sales associate who politely and efficiently tended to my needs.

She asked me several questions and had me run on a treadmill that recorded my footfalls so she could play it back for me in slow-mo, showing me where my current shoes were lacking in support and the awkward angle my shoes were creating between my heel and knee. She made thoughtful suggestions that coincided with the advice given me by my orthopedist earlier in the day (I have trouble with my knees). She had me run in each pair to be sure I picked the best fit and was very patient with me.

Overall this was the best shopping experience I've had in a long time and I'll definitely be back in the future. :)

I would NEVER step foot in this store again. I have shopped there thrice for the perceived benefit of getting expert opinion and the right shoes. And with uncharacteristic consistency have been let down each of the three times. I ended up paying 2x the price these shoes were available for online or at other retail outlets. Was given disingenuous and conflicting "advice" just so they could sell their shoes that are non-refundable. This is one of the biggest scam stores that innocent customers are falling prey to. Most of their reviews here have been commissioned through a PR agency so be ware!!

I don't know if I just didn't look athletic enough or enough like a runner to be taken seriously, but I did not receive the "awesome" service that JR prides itself on. I went in with all the expectations created by the great commercials, but came up short. My rep could barely explain the difference between the sneakers besides stating that they have thicker soles. I'm no sneaker tech, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. I asked him if he could look at my feet and tell what my "pronation" was as I had no idea. Apparently, he didn't either. He said, "you can try these (held up a pair of asics) and see how they work for you. If they don't, you can bring them back in two weeks. I thought that he would have me run on the treadmill to help us make a better decision (again, can't get that commercial out of my mind), but I was told, "you don't really have to do that. It's more for people who run marathons." I don't plan on running a marathon, but I would have liked to feel as though I could have in my new running shoes. Instead, I felt jilted. In the end, I walked out of JR with a pair of $105.00 Asics and the same amount of information (none) that I could have gotten at Foot Locker or even Modell's. I was not a happy Jack Rabbit!

Stopped by Jack Rabbit Sports to check out their triathlon gear. They had a pretty decent women's selection but were out of my size in a couple of styles. Overall the staff were very friendly and while I didn't find what I was looking for, I'll definitely go back when I need a new pair of running shoes. The attention they give to their customers seems invaluable.

Great place to check out, knowledgeable staff and a wide assortment of products. Not only for shoes but gear. They are very interested in keeping the customer happy and shopping, ideal environment for the casual and competitive athlete.

For a first timer getting "real" running shoes-this was the place to go. First my "Shoe Expert" poked fun at my old sneakers (all in good fun)I had been using-he figured out I bought them because they were "pretty "and did the trick at the time. Now that I'm running Half Marathon's I can't go on "pretty". He evaluated my stride/pronation on the video taped treadmill ( went in after work in normal day clothes-laced up some sneakers and rolled up my pants for the evaluation). Then brought out several different types of sneakers to fit my foot and I tested each on the treadmill to find the best fit. Start to finish it took about 15-20 minutes. I am so happy with the entire experience. Great customer service and very knowledgeable. Wide variety of sneakers and apparel. I wouldn't be surprised to see anyone who works at Jack Rabbit in your next race.

Cons: Get's a little busy but moves quickly

This shop has a good selection of gear for running, swimming and biking, and even have a few in sizes that fit someone shaped like a barrel (me). The selection of wide shoes is not overwhelming, but easily comparible to an online distributor and much better than most other shops in the city. Best of all the staff is cordial, and interested in you and you goals, not just pushing products out the door. fitting for a pair of running shoes took 20 minutes: 19 to make sure I was getting shoes that fit me as perfectly as possible and one minute to buy them. Bottome line- They're Brilliant.

I have been getting foot pain from my old sneakers and one of my co-workers recommended Jack Rabbit. The sales staff was nice (and attractive added bonus) and really sat down with me to help me find a good pair of new running sneakers. I bought a great pair that day that i am really happy with! The only thing that i wish that they had more of was other types of work out clothes, not just running and spandex! But all in all great sneakers and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who works out a lot.

This is a store for people who are physically active and demand high performance from their sports clothing. I shop at the Brooklyn location, near my home, and I can not say enough good things about the staff (friendly, smart, knowledgeable and experienced with the gear), the selection (all of it is high quality and at a fair price) and the prices (I bought a pair of shoes there and now I get 10% off everything, for ever). Great website too. If I had discovered this place 20 years ago, I would have saved a lot of money and pain.

This is an awesome place to buy your running shoes. They have sales associates that will sit down with you, discuss your running routine, video you running on a treadmill, analyze you run, they pick our a selection that will fit you best. They then let you test them out on the treadmill again. As a bonus they have a great selection of other sports accessories.

I had a great experience today at your store. Came in to purchase a pair of running shoe being a complete newbie to running. Your employee Patrick offered me outstanding assistance including diagnosing my running bias on the treadmill, and offered me a selection of shoes. He took the time to explain things to me, and made process of purchasing my first running shoes easy. Thanks for all your help -- I will definitely be back!

I'm the owner of JackRabbit and wanted to reply to the woman who had an issue with the shoelace on her shoe. Our store manager Mike dealt with her personally, and I also dealt with her personally. Mike did not tell her that we wouldn't replace the shoe laces -- he told her that we don't sell shoe laces independently of shoes, because we so rarely get requests for them. (My recollection is that the shoes were too worn to simply replace the entire shoe, but it's been a while...) Mike suggested that for about $2 she could get a pair of replacement shoe laces from Foot Locker, about 50 yards away. She was upset by this response and called me a day or so later to complain. I called the MANUFACTURER of the shoes, and they do not have replacement shoe laces in their warehouse either because they so rarely have problems with them. They offered to pull the laces out of a pair of sample shoes from their showroom, but those shoes were the wrong size and wouldn't have fit her shoes. I relayed all of this information to her and offered to pay her bill at Foot Locker, Paragon, or wherever she went to get replacement laces. She told me she'd just get them herself. If there was something that we could have done besides calling the manufacturer or offering to pay for her replacements, I'm not sure what it could be.

Question: How many Jack Rabbit employees does it take to replace a defective shoelace?
Answer: None -- they won't do it! This store prides itself on its service, but doesn't stand behind a product it sells. I discovered that the surly employee who told me there was nothing he could do was the manager. Ha! There are other running shoe stores in this city, and they're probably all heads above this one.

Cons: Terrible service

Super friendly folks at JackRabbit made for a pleasant shopping experience. They have a video taped running analyis that is great, and at no cost is finally something for us middle of the pack athletes.
