I never write reviews, but felt this was a must. I definitely recommend this Salon! Gabi cut and styled my hair and I was so pleased I could not stop talking about what a great experience I had for the rest of the day. I needed a change

Well, I am disappointed with my visit. It was not my first one to the salon but this time I tried someone new, her name was Samantha. Although she did seem to listen to know what color I wanted, she DID NOT check the color once it was

Before going to this salon, I came here to check out reviews and was somewhat surprised to see some of the nearly militant negative reviews. Today was my first visit, but I am definitely planning on going back. My stylist, Beth, was amazing! I have a LOT of hair. I've gone to cheap places like the Hair Cuttery and the stylists take hours to finish, but Beth did fabulous work in less than an hour. To top it off, her personality is great and she was easy to talk to. The beverage offering was alright (though I would prefer something like bottled water so I'm not concerned about hair flying in it) but the hand/scalp massages were very relaxing. All an all my bill (with tip) was approx. $60 but I feel that it was money well spent.

I was nervous to go here since I had a very good colorist at another salon, but I saw my neighbor's haircut and color and asked her where she went and she said Jean Madeline at the mall--it looked amazing! So I scheduled a consultation

I went here thinking that im at a great salon and am going to get the best of the best highlights.. Boy was i WRONG.. there was not only a hair in the drink of water she gave me but the foils were put in practically INCHES away from my scalp.. she had some one else working there blow dry me which took almost 30 MINUTES.. i can dry my own hair in less than 15.. not to mention the mounds of other peoples hair that were in the brushes she used on me.. the highlights were terrible!! the girl who did my color didnt even see my hair dry!! i asked for brown highlights to cancell out the black in my hair.. i got awful blochy some what brown and bleach blonde highlights instead.. im going back to make her redue it because i did Not pay a pretty penny for my hair to turn out like this.. i will never go there again.. Worst experience i have EVER had with a hair salon..

I have been going to Isabella for a while now and I love the way she cuts and styles my hair. I haven't tried anyone else but I have no reason too. She it great! The only drawback is the attitude at the front desk.

Jean Madeline/Plymouth Meeting fried my hair off. The first thing I told the hair colorist was that I wanted to keep my hair LONG. I had long hair down to my ribs. I wanted to keep the length, and get ONLY the split ends trimmed off. I also wanted to get my hair dyed ONE light BROWN color, because my hair was previously dyed black from box color. The colorist told me that this could be done, that it was NO PROBLEM. She also told me that the black would have to be bleached out of my hair. I was told that ONLY my split ends would break off from the bleach so I agreed to have the three inches of split ends cut off before the bleach was put on. Not only did the colorist bleach my whole head of hair once, but twice! Then she bleached my ends a third time! During this whole time the colorist seemed very distrought as she was running back and forth from me to other clients. I told her to take her time, because I obvioulsy didn't want someone rushing on my hair. I didn't realize that it would take 5 and a half hours! Yes, 5 and a half hours. Not to mention, she left me under the drier with bleach all over my hair for about 45 minutes. My hair felt like it was on fire. Eventually when I sat in the chair to have my hair blown out...6 inches of my hair fell out in clumps. It was one of the most upsetting experiences I've ever had to sit through. My hair had to be cut off above my shoulders. The color is horrible. I asked for it to be died a light brown color, and it is full of blonde, brown, and reddish-orangish colors. The ends are still dried out and breaking. It's a complete mess. My mom called the next day and got all of the money back because I was too hysterical to talk. (Yes, they made me pay for this! $128!!!!) My mom had to put up a fight with the manager to get the money back by the way. The manager was rude, obnoxious, and was trying to deny that the stylist bleached my hair more than one time. After she argued with my mom for about a half hour she offered free conditioning treatments for as long as I needed to get my hair back in shape. To be honest, I really don't want to ever walk back in to that salon and let anyone there keep touching my hair, but I have gone back twice. I have decided to stop getting treatments there becausee the manger and owner made me feel uncomfortable. The are both rude, and not willing to REALLY listen and understand what to what actually happened to my hair that day.
Just to be clear, I was never EVER warned by the stylist that I would walk out of the salon with hair broken off above my shoulders. The stylist should have known better than to put all this bleach on my hair. I put all my trust in to her, and it got me nowhere. I feel like JM management holds me accountable for all of this, and it's very upsetting for me. I walked into that salon with very long, dark hair, and walked out 5 and a half hours later with fried-off , multicolored bleached hair above my shoulders. Far, far, far from what I asked for. This is a bad hair salon with rude management.

For my daughter's senior prom, I took her to Jean Madeline to have her hair done. They did a beautiful updo. The best part was the girl who did her make up. It was done perfectly and the girl who did it took the time to explain everyting she was doing and why she did it. Great service was received!

Jean Madeline has been just ok. They offer you coffee, tea, and water per policy, but the staff is not the warmest. The only reason I was going was to get a cut by Larry. I called up today to get an appt. and they said he left a little over a month ago! I would never have found him if it weren't for the two people who posted on here about him going to Salon 90. Thank you! Does anyone know how much it costs to get a cut there? I have been looking all over to find a general price range, and I even called them but they are closed Mondays. I can't afford to pay $80 for a haircut so if someone knows about how much that would help me so much!

Cancelled my last appointment when I learned Larry was no longer there. Best haircut ever and fun to talk to. JM refused to tell me where he had gone but with a little bit of detective work I found him! If you want the best, skip Jean Madeline and go to Salon 90 on Bethlehem Pike in Chestnut Hill and ask for Larry! You won't be disappointed~

Hey ya'll. Saw that some of you are looking for Larry. He's moved to Salon 90 in Chestnut Hill. I think it's on Bethleham Pike. I have an appointment with him next week and can not wait. I'm thrilled for him and anyone else that has left JM. I've never found the staff to be accommodating there. Miserable attitudes! Congrats Larry!!!!

My Wife & I have been coming here for years. And could not be happier
with the customer service, products, and most of all our hair. Oddly enough
..styled by Diane. Honestly, I don't usually document my experiences on the
internet. But when my wife brought to my attention what was said about our
Diane, well I felt compelled. My wife has been with Diane for years, and always
looks wonderful. Nor has she ever been disappointed in anything Diane has done
or suggested. Not even her " Jersey-girl" hi-lights. That I happen to think look
great ! Her complete satisfaction played a big part in me switching to Diane
as well. (sorry Kali) And I have to say "I LOVE MY HAIR" !! I would not even
think of letting anyone else near it. Diane is our one & only.
And frankly I found the comments from "prettygoodyear" offensive, hurtful, and
completely uncalled for. Diane is always friendly, warming, and just plain charming.
an absolute pleasure ! As well as an amazing stylist. Judging from the dozen or
more friends & family we've sent her way. We're not alone in our opinion.
I sincerely hope that anyone reading this realizes the truth. That Diane is a
lovely person, and a wonderful stylist.
And "prettygoodyear" is clearly some bitter troglodyte, who expects a hair cut
to disguise her misery and self loathing. Someone who can only dream of being
as fun loving, outgoing, and enjoyable a person, as Diane is.
In closing, if you're not happy ? Why not simply move on ? Why the need to
publicly bash a kind and talented person. And for what ? Your hair. You
should be ashamed. Do Jean Madeline or any salon a favor...cut it yourself !!
so "sniff sniff" take a big whiff... because Diane is "The Poo" :)

I've been getting my hair cut here for about 3 years now without incident, but I now find myself seriously considering the thought of taking my business elsewhere. When an appointment was booked for me with Diane, I was a little nervous because I had not been happy with her work on one other occasion. HOWEVER, I smiled politely as I always do & decided to just give her the benefit of the doubt regarding the previous bad cut. BIG MISTAKE. Words can't describe how bad this cut was - it was almost as though she did it on purpose. the "long" layers ended up being at least 5 inches shorter than the overall length, which was cut 2 inches shorter than I'd asked for, & it wasn't even cut evenly. I'm surprised she didn't go ahead & give me tacky, Jersey-girl frosted hilights to match hers. Anyway, I didn't notice the damage till I got home...OK, I figured maybe it would look different after being washed & restyled. NOPE. It ended up looking like an even bigger trainwreck than before, if that's possible. After 24 hours of tears & friends/family asking me what the hell happened, I decided to call to have it fixed by a different stylist. KUDOS to them for doing this for free. HOWEVER, I recently stopped by in passing to schedule an appt for the next day, at which time the receptionist told me I had "a choice of 4 stylists," one of whom was my nemesis Diane. When I politely (& a bit awkwardly - I feel bad about stuff like this) informed this girl that anyone BUT Diane would be acceptable, she responded by saying (snippily), "Well, Diane is the only one available." ???? REALLY? Are you sure? Cause that's not what you said 30 seconds ago...It was at that point that I decided to take my business elsewhere, at least for that day. I haven't had an overall problem with this salon but the above sequence of events has caused me to think twice. If I ever DO go back, one thing I know for sure is that I will never, ever let that woman touch my head again. Ever.

Jean Madeline located in the plymouth meeting mall offers wonderful service, a clean work place, friendly employees and beautiful hair styles. My hair dresser Larry always makes my experience enjoyable. I have very coarse curly hair and he always manages to find helpful products and fun stylish new ways to wear my hair. I would highly recommend both Larry and Joanne if you are looking for the prefect hair cut and good conversation.

I had the best experience when I visited Jean Madeline In Plymouth Meeting. George did an excellent job coloring my hair, it turned out perfect! I enjoyed the hand massages during the time Joann cut and blew dry my hair. This was the first time I went to her and I am going to continue to have her do my hair in the future. She knew all about the products and what I should use on my hair. It was very helpful and I love the Aveda products. The overall service was great, everyone was very nice and helpful. I am going to continue to go there for years to come.

I was disappointed to read a bad review of jean madelin. I went there and got hilites and loved it. The girl who did it worked there for like 15 years and knew what she was doing. It is a little expensive though but I really loved my hair. I didn't get my hair cut so I don't know how they are with that. I would recommend to go there for color definately.

I had such a bad experience at this salon a few days ago. I had heard mixed things about this place but liked my friends cut so decided they should do my color. As my color was being set I overheard 2 of the stylists being totally catty talking about other employees. I let it go - I guess that happens but should not be in front of customers. But the worse part was that after my color was washed out, she brought me a cheap trashy looking blow dryer and asked me to blow out my own hair. Now I have been to many salons over the last 15 years and no place has ever asked me to do my own hair. When I asked her why she wasn't doing it she replies "I don't blow dry hair" without any apology. I asked if someone else could and she said no ( I would have payed extra). So they stick you in back to blow dry your hair. If I would have seen clients blowing out their hair in the front window I would have ran the other way. No one bothered to tell me about this detail. I asked if I could get at least a flat iron and she told me no, since the stylists buy their own and wouldn't let me use it. I am a little confused - don't they teach you how to blow out hair in hair school? I mean, that is the same as me removing someone's appendix and waking them up to suture themselves back up. I may not want to suture them but I would do it and make sure its done right.

On top of it all, she left the salon before I was done. My hilights are awful and look like I have had them for over 3 weeks as it looks as though there is growth but she didn't even bother to see if I was satisfied. I asked that they look natural and it looks like some punk rock thing going on. I never should have payed the $80 she charged me. Not even one apology ever.

Little tip to Jean Madeline - any time a customer walks out of your salon they are a walking advertisement. Letting someone walk out with wet hair or hair that does not even look professionaly blowed out is a big mistake. I would never come back and will make sure that all the girls I know don't as well. I think this place should not call themselves a salon - they don't even provide salon quality hair dryers and don't have flat irons.

Pros: aveda products

Cons: unprofessional, not full service, rude

.

I visited Jean Madeling at the Plymouth meeting mall. I first went there because it was the nearest salon to my house that sold Aveda products, then I discovered that their prices were a lot more reasonable than other salons. I really enjoyed the visit. The stylist were very nice and helpful. I paid $29 for a haircut and even got my hair dried, and flat ironed. I was offered water, you name it. I like the atmosphere very nice for a mall hairsalon and the price alone made me happy. I got a gift bag with trial size aveda products which was awesome. I like my hair cut and since I have not had my hair colored there all i can say that if you want top of the line color youre prb better off at a salon that isnt in a mall. I will def return again.

During my recent visit I had the best experience. They start off with a tour of the salon and beverages. Then they give a head and shoulder massage(wonderful). They don't stop there with a hand and arm massage. My stylist Joann was very educated, and I felt comfortable during my consultation. I had a great time learning tricks to blow dry my own hair. The price was well worth it at $55.00. My experience ended with products I had to buy! Also a gift bag at the end. I will recommend the salon to everyone!!
