Varnish Fine Art Offers Art, Wine and Chemistry
  • Happy hour
  • Art gallery
  • Special events

Varnish Fine Art is a gallery that deals contemporary fine art with an emphasis on cast metal sculpture. Providing a wine bar and art library, Varnish is also a meeting place for everyone who loves fine art. We believe that galleries should be fun. Our main gallery of 1500 sq. feet hosts a fine wine, beer, soju cocktail and sake bar. An additional 600 sq. foot gallery on the mezzanine level offers an art library for in-gallery perusal. The gallery is available for private and corporate events, which Varnish is happy to help you to customize.

A great space, stellar artists, cool staff and owners  5 Star Rating - World class

I have been to many openings in this gallery and am always impressed with the varied genre' of art they curate, and the artists are always of stellar quality. The wine bar offers a feeling of intimacy and the staff/owners are very chill. I would recommend this gallery to everyone wanting to check out the top notch gallery scene in SOMA.

The City's Best-Kept Secret 5 Star Rating - World class

This place is a very cool oasis tucked within the South of Market nightlife mayhem. The two-floor art gallery alone is worth the visit (the space is gorgeous but without any of the usual art gallery snootiness), and there's the added bonus of a downstairs beer and wine bar. Excellent wine list a great selection of beers and very cool staff. This is the perfect after work chill spot.

Pros: Beautiful space, great beer and wine selection.
Cons: None.

Fun Art and Wine Gallery 5 Star Rating - World class

Great space featuring some awesome artists. Compared to 111 Minna
down the street it's a bit smaller and more intimate. The art is contemporary
and covers the gamut of media from painting to sculpture. The patrons also
vary depending on the current show from full-suits to full-body-tatoos. And
I'm always happy with the bartender.
