Well if you are looking for a great place to go for your first acupuncture treatment, this could be the place for you. They have three Doctors and a great staff to make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in the front door. They do a great job explaining all the procedures before they happen, to help put you at ease. Eric is a great Doctor and a great guy to talk to about how your body is feeling. Thanks for the help Inner Gate!!!

After a car accident causing whiplash, my back and shoulders hurt continually. The pain just did not seem to be getting any better, despite stretching exercises and chiropractic (don't get me wrong, these things helped too). But when I started getting acupuncture here, the pain really improved. If it had not been for Oliver's and Eric's acupuncture treatments, I would probably still be in pain every day at work while sitting at my computer. I have since moved to San Diego, and I miss this place. If you are having persistent pain, try this place out! It really helps a lot!!

Nearly two years ago, I fell on a job related field trip. I completely severed one ligament and tore others in my knee . The injury resulted in intense rounds of physical therapy, surgery to repair and replace those ligaments followed by months of more physical therapy.
Although the physical therapy was wonderful as I regained a lot of strength in the knee and leg. But a constant throbbing pain remained and after sitting for long periods of time I was and still experience a great deal of pain when I stand and attempt to walk. Let me say here that I almost always refuse to take medication to alleviate the pain, I chose to either suffer through the pain or use herbal ointments, ice, heat, etc.
While attending a class at Portland Community College my teacher noticed the pain and difficulty I had when standing and walking during and after class, she suggested I try either acupuncture or chiropractic treatments. I then spoke to Dr. Bowman my Orthopedic Specialist and he agreed that I should try acupuncture. I was at first frightened because all I knew about acupuncture was that needles were inserted in different parts of your body to relieve all sorts of maladies and the thought of being stuck with needles was something I would never do.
My next thought was that I am a 56 yr old African American woman who grew up hearing and knowing about the power of herbs, roots, and ingesting things that may have traditionally been used in cooking or taking a bath in. So knowing that those old remedies were quite successful thought that I would try another non-traditional treatment hence the call to Inner Gate Acupuncture and am now a very willing client of Eric Isaacman, L.Ac.
Let me first say that I was never so wrong thinking the needles would cause a lot of pain, it is absolutely nothing like a shot from a needle traditionally found in medical offices or hospitals. The needles are as thin as a thread and are virtually painless.
Thanks to Eric, his skill with the instruments and techniques he learned from the masters in China I no longer have the throbbing pain in my knee. I still have pain when I sit for long periods of time, but with the continued therapy, other techniques he is attempting and massages the pain is lessening.
I whole-heartedly recommend acupuncture to any and everyone. Whatever your illness or malady, Try It ! No matter your fears, forget them, Try It. Call them for a consultation, you will be surprised at the results.

I have been going to Inner Gate for about 2 months or so. A co-worker recommended it to me. Eric has been very helpful in treating my ailments. Although I truly believe that he is a Chinese man stuck in a white man's body! Polly is so personable and friendly and EJ is very easy on the eyes!! :)
I highly recommend anyone to go there to treat whatever ails you.

I am a competitive soccer player and I was suffering from a back injury. I tried two chiropractors and physical therapy. I even tried another acupuncturist, but Inner Gate was a better experience. It's a nice, easy going environment and they do an excellent job. I always leave feeling relaxed, and pain-free. They always work to fix the problem, not just relieve pain. People always ask me if the needles hurt. When they first put the needles in, it can hurt, but only about 20% of the needles feel that way. The pain usually goes away within seconds, and if not, your acupuncturist can just remove them. It's not supposed to hurt, and you just relax into it. Most of the time I just fall asleep. Appointments are less than an hour. I would suggest it for any sort of pain, soreness, or stress relief.

My shoulder was causing pain that I couldn't seem to get rid of. Massage and chiropractic helped but I thought another avenue of care might take care of the lingering pain. I saw Eric for 3 sessions and was very happy that I felt significantly better after each one. I just completed my third visit and am pain-free. Very friendly and professional staff.

After learning that my insurance covered this treatment, I met with Mark of Inner Gate Acupuncture after with several recommendations from coworkers who visit the clinic regularly. The entire staff was very friendly and professional. Mark was very thorough and receptive to the issues I wanted to address. I felt very respected throughout the entire visit and after treatment felt both relaxed and excited for my next visit.

Everyone at Inner Gate Acupuncture is nothing short of awesome...
The place exudes friendly warmth and welcome, gentle and respectful healing, abundance of knowledge, and humor...
I have had alot of body work in my life, in fact my massage therapist at my chiropracter's office referred me to Erik, and I have been benefiting from his care on a regular basis ever since - that now being about a year and a half.
The combination of modalities (chiropractic, massage and other body work, naturopathic, and now acupuncture and Chinese herbs and massage) has strengthened and enhanced my health and well-being physically, spiritually and emotionally. The addition of Chinese medicine was clearly the topping on the cake, ie: an essential part of the whole.
My issues revolve mostly around lower grade chronic muscle and joint discomfort, and also issues of energy and mood. My adrenal glands became fatigued over the years as so many of ours have - which seemed to prolong and intensify each of these issues. All of the bodywork and acupuncture, and especially I believe, the combination of naturopathic herbs and Chinese herbs (Erik's "potion" I call it) , have steadily helped me to progress to a much more comfortable, calm, and energized state of being, and for that I am extremely grateful.
I trust Erik completely (as I would anyone in their office) and his expertise, and his compassion for his clients, and for his calling / his career - is clearly genuine.
I plan on continuing to have Erik and Inner Gate Acupuncture helping to care for my being, as an ongoing
wellness, health maintenance and life enhancing (and thus very wise) choice.
I recommend Inner Gate Acupuncture highly, to all ! :)

One morning I woke up with a slight 'kink' in my neck from apparently having slept wrong the night before. After a week or so I began to notice numbness and pain extending into my arm. I set up an appointment with my chiropractor, since this has generally been effective in the past. However, 5 or 6 chiropractic visits later with no significant progress and still suffering considerable pain, I was beginning to worry. By now the pain in my shoulder, my tricep and into my forearm was unbearable and I was experiencing an almost 80% loss of sensation in 2 fingers. Luckily, through a friend, I met a patient of Inner Gate and discovered that he too had suffered from nearly identical symptoms before his first treatment. He couldn't say enough good things about Oliver and Inner Gate. I hadn't had much experience with acupuncture and wasn't sure what to expect, however I was immediately impressed by the warmth and genuine caring of the entire Inner Gate office. After 2 visits with Oliver I began to experience noticeable pain relief. Several visits later and most of the feeling in my hand had returned and I was beginning to sleep much better. A few visits later and I was amazed to find that the pain was gone almost as if it had never happened in the first place. I still feel chiropractic medicine is beneficial for my health but now understand how incredibly powerful acupuncture can be. I am very happy to have met Oliver and the staff at Inner Gate and would highly recommend them to anyone suffering from pain.

I was desperately seeking medical help for my persistently irregular menstrual cycle, an issue I was grappling with for more than a decade. Having found no sustainable remedy anywhere, I decided to try acupuncture as the last resort. I remember calling up Inner Gate in a very dejected and somewhat skeptical tone and asking to speak with one of their practitioners. Erik called me back and I was impressed that he spent nearly 20 minutes on phone patiently answering my questions on Chinese medicine. My very first session with Erik convinced me that I was at the right place. I have been seen mostly by Oliver since then. I have found both Oliver and Erik highly knowledgeable and supremely caring, with a delightful sense of humour. I started benefiting from the treatment within 3 weeks, and now, after about 3 months of 'gentle needling' and herbs, I am very much on the path to normal health. I am always in awe of the in-depth and multidimensional analysis that Oliver carries out each time. One may argue that acupuncture, being a holistic science, is meant to be that way. But at Inner Gate, they really care for their patients as real people with genuinely unique concerns, and not just as 'patient charts'. In my opinion, this is what truly makes all the difference. Indeed, the friendly and welcoming warmth can be felt the moment one steps into the clinic. EJ, one of their support staff, has been very helpful in working with my complicated student health insurance, and I am very thankful to him for that. By the way, they have student discounts too!

In all, I am very satisfied with my experience at Inner Gate and have come to greatly respect everyone there for their dedicated service. I can never thank them enough for helping me with one of my biggest health concerns!

I've been seeing Eric for a shoulder injury for the last month and boy have I been wowed. Might be a funny choice of words for an acupuncture experience but it's the truth. From the moment I walked in and the friendly staff greeted me with genuine smiles, I felt comfortable. I continued with treatments and have not only found him extremely knowledgeable on women's issues but medicine, in general. A great person on your wellness team, I tell you!

He is knowledgeable but approachable and very warm. Of course this is not to mention that after the first treatment my shoulder (after a year in pain) felt better (!) and I had better mobility. I was able to get back to my sporting adventures and have been excited to continue to fully heal that part of my body.

I completely trust Eric and would recommend him (and Inner Gate Acupuncture) highly to all but especially those like me suffering from sports injuries, perhaps, and women, in particular. They can of course help anyone to feel like their best selves again, however, they have absolutely helped me in the two areas I mention.

I have asthma (new), as well, and think I may elicit Eric's expertise for that. I hear acupuncture works to alleviate if not cure asthma symptoms too.

Overall, a grade A experience from front door to acupuncture table and beyond! If you are looking for acupuncture, I say your search stops here.

I have had migraines for several years and have seen many health care providers along the way. By the time I called Inner Gate Acupuncture I was feeling pretty pessimistic about my migraines and was starting to come to the conclusion that I would just need to learn to deal with them. The first time I called to make an appointment I instantly felt welcomed and cared for and my experience has been nothing short of wonderful. I have actually only been working with Casey for about 6 weeks and I can?t even begin to explain how much better I have been feeling. My migraines have significantly decreased. Actually I have not had one for about a month and I was used to having them weekly. Casey has been a complete joy to work with. I can?t even begin to express how grateful I feel to have found Inner Gate Acupuncture.

This was my first time receiving any acupuncture treatment, and I loved it! From the first time that I called, I felt very welcomed and comfortable with the staff. The whole theory and approach of Chinese medicine was explained to me very throughly and helped give me an understanding and respect of Chinese traditions. I have spoken to many other people about their experiences, and theirs was not even comparable to mine. Eric treated me, and it was really nice getting to know him and unlike other medical clinics, I actually had time to talk to him about a lot of interesting topics. He is really friendly and approachable. If you are thinking of getting acupuncture, you have to go here! You'll love it, I promise.

I hurt my back and was in severe pain. After a couple days without sleep my wife convinced me that I should try acupuncture. I was resistant as I was not at all convinced that it would work. I finally went to the clinic. The results have been fantastic as my pain when I went in was so severe that I had taken several Vicodin which did little to help.

After the first treatment I was able to sleep the night after. I went back in two days and was treated by Casey (Eric treated me the first day). After this treatment my pain was nearly gone. My third visit was with Oliver whose treatment was also very effective. Within three weeks I was pain free. I went to a couple other treatments which dealt with some pain in my left side. Often the injury on one side will mask the lessor pain on the other. This pain is also gone.

Each one of these therapist are wonderful. Each has his own personality but they are all very patient centered. When I go in I feel that I am so welcome and if I see one of them while waiting for the other (I see Erik as the main therapist) Casey or Oliver will stop by and ask how I am or how my son is doing (he went in for treatment as well.) These are wonderful guys.

I've had a lot of acupuncture in my life but it had been a long time, and we got lucky finding top-notch acupuncture in the Portland metro at Inner Gate because we were new to the area. Well folks- look no more!

You really feel cared about by every practitioner at Inner Gate, and you really are. Seriously, these 3 are a power trio of healing energy, wisdom and kindness. Whatever ails you I am sure they will help you a great deal.

I love these guys- they are fun and friendly, safe, and it is very inspiring and healing to be in their collective space. I hope to return soon (insurance, insurance.... )

I fully support their 5-star rating - they earn it.
Way to go - you raise the bar in the healing arts.

Thanks for helping with my shoulder Erik - your acupuncture was the only thing that relieved the insane pain, eventually I did have to get surgery to repair torn labrum, remove bone spurs and clean up partially torn rotator cuff tendon due to ill-advised physical therapy that caused the injury. Much better now.

Without your help I would have suffered a lot more prior to realizing I still needed surgery once I found the right Orthopedic Doctor who actually could tell I needed it or I'd never regain back the full use of my right arm. Both arms are almost equally strong again... thank you.

I came to Inner Gate after about 7 years of chronic upper back/neck muscle spasms. These would happen several times a year and I would be stuck with limited mobility, nerve pain, stiffness and overall chronic pain for months after the initial spell had passed. A co-worker recommended I try acupuncture and gave me the clinic information after she had successfully stopped smoking after seeing Eric. I started seeing Oliver about 6 months ago and he has worked wonders! I was going twice a week and gradually that tapered off to weekly, then every other week. Now I am pain free and loving it! Before, even when I was "better" I would still hurt but didn't think anything would really help. Even physical therapy and pain medication didn't make the underlying muscle problems go away. Now I have no pain, normal mobility and feel great! No more pain pills!! All the people who work at Inner Gate are really friendly and welcoming. You feel at ease even if you're scared of needles. They listen to you and give you fabulous care. Oliver is very knowledgeable and great at what he does. Acupuncture is a great stress reliever, very relaxing and I love it. They work with my insurance and make it so easy. After my extremely positive experience I told my whole office and now everyone is going. If you are hurting or stressed out, give it a try. You won't be sorry.

Who ever thought acupuncture could be enjoyable. We who've tried it know it's effective, but fun??? At Inner Gate, one has three great guys to choose from. Three specialists, each of whom has a great deal to offer theraputically, a wonderful massage table-side manner, and a hug at the end for good measure. I started with Oliver who after a session or two referred me to Casey, the newbie. Casey's has, among others, a wonderfully potent Japanese-style massage technique in his repertoire of treatments that I have found especially helpful in addressing a persistent lower back and hip problem. We start with a discussion of my symptoms, followed by massage, then to needles and a period of deep relaxation with my choice of music to give them a chance to sink in, so to speak. I've gone weekly for a couple of months now, and have felt a marked improvement in my condition. Kudos to all at Inner Gate for creating an uplifting place of true healing.

I can't say enough about my experience at Inner Gate. I had gone through 2 years of medical testing regarding one of my legs. It was weak and numb and continuing to get worse. The western doctors still have no idea what is wrong with it.
I saw Oliver for about three months. He is wonderful at what he does, not to mention the kind of person
he is. (Erik's not so bad either : ) ) This was an amazing experience and the communication is excellent. My leg has improved and leveled off. It is still a little weak but the numbness is almost completely gone. Thanks to Oliver and Erik, acupuncture is something I will continue doing for myself for years to come.

I've had three treatments with Erik at Inner Gate Acupuncture over the past few weeks for pain in my left arm. Through a diagnostic process and targeted acupuncture therapy, Erik has helped to reduce the pain in my arm by 70%. He is a good practitioner with great people skills and is highly knowledgeable. The clinic is warm and nurturing. I highly recommend Inner Gate Acupuncture, particularly for those people who have tried every kind of treatment and may not know where to turn. This is most likely the place!

I started seeing Ollie at Inner Gate last December. I was coming off a year of chronic lower back pain that I just couldn't get rid of. I did months of physical therapy (religiously following my exercise plan), chiropractic treatments and deep tissue massage. While they helped somewhat, I still couldn't get rid of the pain. After just two treatments with Ollie, my back was a lot better. After four treatments, I found I could go several weeks without back pain. After six treatments, I've been without back pain for months and now only need to go back if I have a flare up. I was truly amazed at how effective acupuncture was at treating my back problems. I only wish I'd tried it sooner! Ollie and Eric are great and the office is a welcoming and relaxing environment. Can't recommend Inner Gate enough!

I went looking for an acupuncture clinic because of intense right shoulder pain that shot down the back of my arm and into my hand. I tried massage a few times but nothing was helping the pain. I went to Inner Gate got a treatment with Oliver and felt 25% better by the time I left. Over the next 3 weeks he was able to reduce the pain almost totally. The arm is now good no jolts of lightening into my hand and the shoulder is functional again. I highly recommend these guys to anyone.

I went to Inner Gate for a neck whip lash do to a MVA. I was very pleased with the results of my acupuncture treatments. I started out with extreme neck and back pain, but after 4 wks of visit's I am back to feeling like I was prior to my car accident. I highly recommend this clinic, they are honest, educated and very good at what they do. Very caring people too.

I stumbled upon Inner Gate Acupuncuture (doing an on-line search) after the 8th day with a headache. All my other tricks weren't working (chiropractor, massage, meds, etc). Although I did not understand how acupunture could help my chronic pain, I assumed it wouldn't make it worse - and I was desperate at that point. My experience at Inner Gate has been top-notch. They are personable and knowledgeable without being too weird or clinical. My headache went away after one treatment. It came back, but not as bad. I've had six treatments now and besides being headache free for a month what I really notice is that I feel calmer, happier and less stressed out. I will continue to go for my well-being and to stay on top of the headaches. You can't help but feel better after spending an hour at Inner Gate.

I went to Inner Gate Acupuncture after sending almost 4 years trying to solve some digestive issues using traditional medical methods. The excellent service I received at Inner Gate was the first time in so long that I was finally able to find relief from the chronic pain I was experiancing . I found Inner Gate on the internet and made an appointment with Erik, not only is he an extremely kind person but he was so professional, that made discuss an often embarassing situation easy. I highly recommend Inner Gate Acupuncture whether you have had acupuncture before or this is your first time you won't be disappointed with the friendly and very knowledgable service you receive.

I had been receiving chiropractic treatments since having an auto accident in April. When visiting out of town, a friend recommended acupuncture and I had a couple of treatments. The minute I returned, I sought out an acupuncturist. I was drawn to Inner Gate by the credentials I saw on their website. The website also portrayed caring practitioners. I made an appointment right away.

Erik did an indepth interview and examination followed by a treatment. I immediately felt better, both physically and emotionally. I felt assured that I was in good hands.

After several visits, Erik suggested using acupuncture in conjunction with chiropractic. So, we began a series of intense treatments, using both modalities and I have begun to improve.

During this time, I studied more about acupuncture and have referred several friends. I'm not a young chick so I've seen plenty of practitioners in my lifetime. I'd have to say that I've never experienced a more caring and conscientious individual than Erik.

My neighbor suggested that I go to Inner Gate while I was in the throes of a horrible kidney infection. I was able to get in within a few days and was so impressed with how comfortable their offices felt compared to the doctors office. I had the pleasure of being treated by both Eric and Oliver - they are both great practicioners and both have a great bedside manner.

You know when you go to the doctor, and it's a very nerve-wracking, sterile, and pretty impersonal experience (At least, that's been my experience with most visits to the doctor)? Going to Inner Gate is the wonderful opposite of that.

I've suffered from horrible sinus problems since I was a teenager. Back in August, I had the worst sinus infection I've had in years and the thought of going to the doctor and being put on antibiotics was the last thing I wanted to do. My co-worker recommended Oliver, and when I called to make an appointment, I got in right away. My sinus infection cleared up within a week! Oliver continued to treat me for sinus issues the following few weeks, and this is the best I've felt in years! In addition to acupuncture and Chinese medicine, he also taught me different ways to cleanse and protect my nasal passages at home to make sure my they stay healthy.

I also have had some really horrible menstrual cycle issues in the past few months, and Oliver has treated me for those as well. I know without his treatment, I wouldn't have healed as fast. Acupuncture not only heals the body, but it also heals the mind as well. I know that when I go in to see Oliver, I will leave there feeling refreshed and fantastic! I will continue to see Oliver whenever I have a health issue I know he can help me with. I have been recommending him to everyone I know.

I've been fortunate enough to have been treated by both Oliver and Eric. They're equally some of the most professional and easy going people I've ever met! The best thing about them is that on top of treating me for my condition, they've helped me gain insight into a million other areas of my life. They operate a very clean office with ipod-ready stereos in each room allowing you to bring in your own music! Around a month ago I ripped my lower calf muscle while training for the PDX 07 Marathon. After 2 weeks of treatment with Oliver I no longer suffered any significant pain and was able to continue with my training schedule. As a result I recently successfully completed the Marathon in great time and shape. I know that if it was not for the expertise of Oliver there would have been no way I could have attempted the Marathon. I highly recommend their services.

I came to Inner gate in the worst pain of my life. i had a pinched nerve in my shoulder that caused pain down my entire arm. After one treatment with oliver, about half the pain had disappeared. He was able to easily identify my problems and treat them, and after a few more touch ups, the pain completely disappeared. I would strongly suggest visiting Inner Gate if you are having pain. They really know what they are doing. i would have been miserable if i had to live with the pain I experienced,but thanks to Oliver and Inner Gate. I feel great and am back to "normal." Thanks.

I walked in off the street as I had a really bad sinus and was traveling in Portland. First off, bravo to Erik, he's a magician. Professional, friendly, warm and best of all, a miracle worker. I went twice, first time to fix the cause and second time 4 days later for a check-up. He mixed the herbs himself, all Chinese and natural and that's no mean feat. Well he studied in China, speaks the lingo as do his hands. So if I'm ever in Portland again, I will come back to him for all my acupuncture needs.

What can I say, Eric I. is great. Very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. The care I've recieved for the stress I hold in my upper back has been fantastic. In addition to the technical work, I've appreciated Eric's interest and willingness, from a professional perspective, to listen to and understand better what, in my opinion, is causing my stress. Hello there,
I have been getting Acupuncture for the last 12 years for serious health issues. Having been to a number of different practitioners in Philadelphia and New York, I can tell you that Inner Gate Acupuncture is fantastic! I have been seeing Oliver once a week for acupuncture, herbs, and moxibustion. He is truely talented and intuitive. His range of knowledge is amazing.

The clinic itself is very inviting and calming. It does not have that sterile white medical feel. Everybody is friendly and I never feel rushed.

I'd never tried accupuncture before, and thought it was a little weird. After one week, my allergies were gone! I was shocked. I only needed to go once a week for five weeks, and now I'm going every other week until I no longer need it. Erikk and Oliver are so nice to everyone who enters; they're easy to talk to and very friendly. I only wish more people would try accupuncture, after all, it doesn't have any of the side effects medications from western medicine give you.

I went to see Erik upon entering entering recovery from alcohol addiction. I was struggling, physically, emotionally and spritually. My experience at inner gate with Erik has been extremely positive and helpful. I always feel listened to and that my whole self is being considered. The way in which Erik listens and then formulates and talks to me about his treatment is very integrated. I am greatly appreciative for the work and support that Erik has provided over a very challenging and transitional time in my life. Short version: I have nothing but good things to say for Inner Gate and its employees.

Long: I'd never tried acupuncture, though my mother said it helped her with the pain of her sciatica. When I finally got to my wits' end I was in constant back and shoulder pain, all out of balance, distressed and miserable.

I came on Citysearch to look for Portland's best acupuncturists, having heard a range of stories and deciding to choose for myself and I have to say without exaggeration that's what happened. Polly, their receptionist, is wonderful, and I have never felt as if I received anything less than their full attention. The office is calm, classy but informal and soothing, and each of the treatment rooms is relaxing without seeming artificially 'designed' to be so.

Oliver is my acupuncturist and he is truly a great guy. I've never really been embarrassed or hesitant to talk to him about my most personal health concerns. His demeanor encourages an atmosphere of trust, friendliness, and health. I must say I've received better care from him than a significant proportion of 'Western' medicine practitioners I've seen (and I've seen many). He never discourages me from seeking traditional Western care and is professional while still being one of the friendliest and most genuinely caring people I've met. I once ran into him out somewhere and he was just as glad to see me without a treatment or a billing to my insurance. Helping people heal is clearly Inner Gate's top priority.

The array of services Inner Gate offers is thorough and (from my experience) expertly practiced. I have not used Erik's services or those of their relatively new massage therapist, but I think any medical practice that presents such a unified atmosphere merits my trust. Try their hand-blended herbal medicines if necessary- they work.

Even if or when I leave Portland, I will always come back to Inner Gate whenever the opportunity presents itself. Thank you!

I have been going to Inner Gate for the past year. Each time I visit they always heal whatever it is that I come in for. First time I had chronic back pain that usually lasted for 2 weeks time. One the second day of my symptom I came in to see Erik. The night of my visit it was gone!!

I now have my whole family coming in for regular treatments including my 15 year old son. He really likes it looks forward to his visits.

I give this clinic my highest rating.

I have been a patient of Erik's almost a year now. I cannot explain how he has changed my life. I have fibromyalgia and Erik has been able to ease me off all pain medication through his treatments. He has done what no other Dr. could .

He is very knowlegeable, professional. ? He will explain every step of the proceedure as he goes through the process, he is extremely open to the patients questions or concerns.

Regardless of your needs, Innergate acupuncture is the best clinic around. You will feel at home as you walk in, the music, water features and lights put you at ease. Erik and Oliver greet the patients and are very accomodating. Thank you Erik for all the good you do and for taking the time to listen, you are the best.

After four days of hardly being able to walk, I contacted my medical doctor. She is great and very open to alternative medicine too. She, however, was off on vacation, so I ended up with an unknown doctor. She diagnosed my problem as achilles tendonitis. She said that if it wasn't better in 4-6 weeks, they would put it in boot.
Four to six weeks is not an option when every step sent shooting pains up my leg. I had an appointment already scheduled with Erik Isaacman at Inner Gate Acupuncture. He gave me the same diagnosis, but also said there were things he could do. After the very first visit, I was walking out of their offices feeling less than half of the pain with which I entered. By the next day, the pain had subsided to 25% and the third day, it was all but gone.
Erik and Oliver are two outstanding practitioners, they know their trade and are able to produce outstanding results. I have recommended them to numerous friends and acquaintances.

I originally went to Inner Gate looking for relief from a seemingly endless supply of fatigue, headaches and sleepless nights. I felt like a zombie most of the time and was constantly taking pain and sleeping pills. My immune system was so shot I was catching every infection around. I walked into my first session with Erik worn out and working on my third headache for the week. I left with no pain and a good deal of hope. Since beginning treatment my sleepless nights are gone and the headaches are drastically reduced. My energy levels have also improved. What I didn't expect was how great I would feel physically and mentally. It's hard to express how happy and uplifted I feel without sounding silly but everybody around me has noticed the difference. I look forward to each session with Erik and walk away with energy for days. I would recommend Erik and Inner Gate Acupuncture to anyone interested, I know you'll be just as happy as I am.

I was injured about six months ago while working in my yard. I had pain in my wrist, numbness in my forearm and general swelling in my muscles in the arm. The first doctor I saw didn't know what was wrong and referred me to an orthopedic specialist, who diagnosed me with deQuervain's tendonitis in my right wrist. After almost 3 months of treatments that didn't work, which included PT, wrist brace and a cortisone shot, I found out he was completely incorrect! (A belated set of x-rays and MRI showed I had "no damage" or signs of tendonitis in my wrist, even though I continued to have pain and numbness.) I had tried a number of alternative treatments, including a try at acupuncture at another clinic, which wen very badly. Still, I believed from what I had read that acupuncture could help my condition. And, I finally found a doctor that thought I had pinched a nerve in my shoulder resulting in peripheral neuropathy in my arm. She recommended acupunture, too. I found Inner Gate through City Search and immediately set up an appointment with Oliver.

Now, after seeing Oliver for several months, my arm is almost completely recovered. I saw immediate changes in my condition after the first visit. My arm has gone from being completely numb in the forearm to completely regaining all sensation. We continue to work on the pain in the arm as the nerves return to full use. Oliver was able to do what months of other therapies couldn't do -- get my arm back to normal. (In fact, by the time I saw Oliver, my other arm was messed up too because it had been compensating for the originally damaged one -- he has fixed it, too.) I am amazed at what acupuncture has been able to do for me; I only wish that I had found this clinic at the onset of my injury because it has been a very trying experience. If you have never experienced the results of acupuncture, it may sound hard to believe, but I am a believer now. Oliver has been great and is worth every penny I've paid.

When I walked into the clinic, I immediately felt the good energy flow - Staff are working with their great enthusiasm. I had an auto accident in July and I was introduced to Eric . He gave me excellent treatment, and reduced my pain level quickly. He is also knowledgable of the body machanism from perspective of the natural path medicine, and gave me good advise to improve the general health.

let me preface this by saying
i didn't "believe" in acupuncture before i met oliver.

now
i have been away from portland for 4 months.
some of the things i miss most:
good food, biking, friends, better weather and the guys at inner gate acupuncture.

in two weeks i will be back in portland and i can guarantee that i will be back to visit erik and oliver within a week.

as a waitress, they are the most accommodating clinic i have ever encountered.
they understand that my hours are ever-changing and often unpredictable and are, in turn, flexible with scheduling.

they work hard at helping me with current issues (like a busted elbows from a bike accident) while also focusing on long-term concerns. i can already feel pain relief and hope for my ever-present knee joint pain i experience from riding a bike as my sole form of transportation and running around on concrete floors daily as a waitress.

i trust both erik and oliver with the most trivial and serious of my health concerns. but i also trust they will refer me to other, more relevant clinics if needed. it is clear they are driven by an investment in my health.

before i last left portland, i had the chance to book my mother for an appointment at inner gate. knowing my mother is as hesitant as i once was to trust in acupuncture, i could do nothing but cross my fingers. she went in doubtful and frowning. after her session, she came out smiling. within a half an hour of leaving the office, she was begging to borrow my phone to call the clinic and inform them that--for the first time in months--she could move her arm more fully and freely. she already has plans to book another appointment with the clinic next time she visits.

now, having seen two skeptical people fall in love with a small, quiet, hidden-away acupuncture clinic, i can do nothing but give my highest recommendation. i hope to see you there!

I grew up with alternative medicine, including accupuncture. I've lived coast to coast and worked with many gifted and dedicated people. One thing stands out from all those experiences. It's never enough to know the mechanics of a practice, though to do so is a monumental accomplishment of itself. There must also be empathy, an ability to be fully present to the condition of another and sense what has not been said by the patient and "feel" at a deeper more intuitive level who they are and what they need.
Oliver is the most empathic professional I've worked with. Combine that with a deep knowledge of his craft and an innate, genuine caring for me as a patient keeps me healing at a rate beyond the expected. I have questions, he and Eric answer them. I have concerns Oliver puts them to rest. I make an observation, it is carefully considered.
The office is relaxing, well maintained and professional, but there is levity and joy resulting from people who truly love what they do. I even bring my own music!
Surgery? Ha! I don't need no stinking surgery!!
Simply put, Oliver and Eric are wonderful people. I am very fortunate. You could be too.

I have seen Oliver on several occasions for shoulder pain and knee pain associated with sports.I liked working with him each time I needed him - he took a long and involved history, devised a
treatment plan that accommodated my work schedule. Oliver made suggestions for strengthening exercises I could do at home to supplement the acupuncture and the combination eventually proved successful. Now I see Oliver several times a year for tuneups and herbs to keep my immunity strong. His office setting is calm and serene, so peaceful even a first timer would be at ease. I tell all my friends about Oliver and recommend him strongly without hesitation.

I had never done acupuncture before, so I was a little scared when my chiropractor recommended that I have it done. But, after meeting with Erik, my fears quickly went away. He explained everything to me and went at a pace I was comfortable with. Oliver and Erik really are two of the nicest people around, and I really feel like they care about my health. Not only that, but Ive also seen results. With his treatments I have seen my back and neck heal from my car accident. So if it's your first time and youre a little scared, dont be trust me!

Since I moved to Oregon 12 years ago for school I have suffered from constant nasal and sinus problems. I Often have a runny nose and catch colds easily. I was referred to Oliver by a friend who saw him for headaches. Within a few weeks I noticed some real change. My nose isn't always running and I have really begus to dry out! I can smell more than I've been able to for years. Now we are working on building up my immune system so that I can take on the cold season! I highly recommend this clinic. Here is one for Erik-I first walked into the clinic with an injury which resolved quickly with Erik's attentive treatment. I feel like a discerning healthcare consumer in that after working in western clinics for ten years-I had the opportunity to work for a series of acupuncturists. I developed a criteria for choosing care to include-10 years in practice, can read Chinese, works with a colleague-as opposed to renting space in a "health studio", has an herbal pharmacy, returns call backs within 4 hours, is currently also getting acupuncture, can handle it when I cry, and knows some knock-knock jokes. I recently sought some more acupuncture for lifestyle stress issues-meet with alot of acupuncturists in Portland-and wound up at Erik's doorstep again-convinced I'd found the best-about 2 months later-even though the stresses are the same my reaction to the stresses have totally shifted and I am healthier than I've ever been-so if you have ever even remotely thought about trying acupuncture this is the place-act now-while memberships are still available!

I have been seeing Oliver regularly for close to a year now. I have been treated for low back pain, allergies, weight loss, and lately for pain in my feet. I know without a doubt that the treatments I have been receiving have been helpful. I am regularly taking several herbs that have helped me. What I think is amazing about both Ollie and Erik is their level of care and compassion. The time they spend listening and getting to know what is going on with me allowed me to be at ease from my very first treatment. I always felt comfortable talking about what was going on with me, physically, emotionally, spiritually. They are always on time with my appointments, which tells me they value my time as well. The office is clean and soothing. I recommend Inner Gate Acupuncture to anyone who wants an alternative to General Medicine.

I have seen Erik Isaacman for many months for sinus congestion and neck pain. Both are markedly better. Erik is amazingly compassionate, kind, and flexible. When one thing doesn't work, he tries another. The office couldn't be more convenient and pleasant, and I've referred many family members and friends, including my skeptical dad. It's a great place. Erik and Oliver are amazingly talented and represent a new breed of practitioners.

I have been recieving acupuncture from a variety of practicioners for over 10 years. I found Oliver Leonetti to be one of the most attentive and patient acupuncturists. I was really pleased that he spend as much as he did with me. I have some complicated emotional problems. It isn't always easy for me to communicate but I felt like I was in a safe place where I could open up. Oliver was able to step out of the doctor role and approach me as another person and I found that to be unique and commendable.
Inner Gate Acupuncture has a beautiful clinic that is pleasant and clean. The parking is easy and I'm always seen on time which I love.

I started seeing Oliver for intense back pain that had begun to take over my life. After seeing a chiropractor for about six months I was feeling little to no change. Oliver was able to immediately help relieve my pain with a combination of acupuncture and massage. I have had little to no back pain for six months now and I continue to see him as a "primary care" doctor. The most important thing I can stress about Ollie is that he treats the whole person, not just the symptom. I have been going to Oliver Leonetti at Inner Gate Acupuncture regularly for about 8 months and have had a very positive experience. I went initially to get help with chronic digestion problems and heart palpitiations. I had seen several doctors in the past and have gone through all of the standard heart monitoring and imaging tests with no concrete results or answers. This was frustrating to say the least. Working with Oliver on these problems has been wonderful. He is an attentive and thoughtful listener with a caring and comforting approach to healing. Based off of my experiences with other acupuncturists, I feel that Oliver's technique and overall knowledge of medicine and health are excellent. Through a combination of acupuncture, herbal therapy, and diet changes my digestion problems have ceased and my heart palpitations have improved dramatically. I have received successful treatment for sports related injuries such as shin splints as well. I highly reccomend Oliver and Inner Gate Acupuncture. I went and saw Dr. Erik and he was great. He was able to help me through my neck and shoulder pain. The office is well located, very relaxing and the experience was actually quite pleasant. I was seen on time no waiting. And he did all my insurance billing for me!

Both my parents were asthmatics, and I have always had problems, and have had to carry an inhaler around incessantly my whole life -- this is bothersome because I am also pretty athletic, which has always exacerbated the problem.
I have been recieving treatment at Inner Gate Acupuncture for the last four months, and I really notice the difference. Erik and Oliver have taken a holistic approach which includes Acupuncture, stress relief, nutritional changes, and breathing excercises - which have been a tremendous help in allowing me to take control of my asthma. I highly recommend them.

I walked into their clinic with severe shoulder pain (frozen shoulder?) and afte working with Inner Gate Acupuncture for 1 month the mobility returned and the pain subsided. They are compassionate, professional and very sensitive to my needs. Different then other acupucnturists that I have seen is the fact that they got in to the sore areas with massage and really worked out the scar tissue and the pain. I have already referred friends and family and I am confident in referring all of you.
