Step beyond our atrium. AGAVE's serene, smart adobe scene provides a glowing setting for the fusion of tradition and Southwestern innovation of Chef Richard Pang. Our restaurant's menus are created with the greatest care to ensure an enchanted experience. Highlights include seared Ahi tuna tataki tostaditas, squash blossom tacos with smoked tomato and caciotta, puerco sabana and pepita crusted salmon. Detailed service at AGAVE paired with creative dishes, cocktails and outstanding wines create a definitive experience for brunch, lunch and dinner.

The Scene
Smooth adobe walls, spruce-latticed ceilings and flickering candles help create the stylishly relaxed vibe. Sit by the tall front windows watching West Village strollers, or settle into the warm, spacious back dining room. An informed, unobtrusively friendly staff takes care of newcomers and the slew of Agave addicts alike.

The Food
The menu offers fresh, intricately flavored twists on Southwestern fare, in generous portions. Standout appetizers include red snapper seviche, lamb and manchego taquitos and perfect guacamole. Cumin croutons, spiced pecans and jicama enhance the hearty salads. Quesadillas and tacos are kicked up a notch with barbecued-duck picadillo or Maine lobster fillings, accented by mango pico or sweet plantains. Well-prepared skirt steak and Angus short ribs with a delicate mole are entree favorites. Save room for Mexican vanilla creme brulee or cider-glazed, pecan-stuffed apples with ice cream--then come back for one of the best brunches in town.

Southwestern Jewel

by dunmore

This is a very pleasant transition from 7th Ave to the warm, vibrant SW. The restaurant embodies romance and history with beautiful clean lines and Indian artifacts, reminiscent of a small museum. The food is exquisite. And keep your finger on your selection until you give your order or you will lose it among the variety and lavish descriptions of other items on the menu. The culinary presentation is first-rate and the service is helpful and friendly! Not to be missed and it will be an adventure to make your way thru all the enticing items on the menu.

Pros: atmosphere, convenient, good service

The Way Southwest Should Be

by applefoodgal

A wonderful addition to the West Village scene! I never realized I'd enjoy a Southwestern restaurant this much, but everything- from a fun, exciting menu to the beautiful candle-lighting and decor- lets me know I'll be returning soon. There were so many interesting dishes on the menu, we ended up ordering a whole bunch and sharing (try the Shortribs). We came as a group, but it would also make a great date restaurant, with plenty of romance in the air. Noticed some comments about the service, but we had no complaints, the staff was friendly and attentive. The outside is a little disconcerting, though. All in all, one of the best nights out I've had in a while, and at a really great price.

Pros: Prices, Romantic Atmoshpere, Fun Menu

Cons: Funny Exterior

A visit to New Mexico on 7th Ave.

by restaurantdude

New Southwestern restaurant in the village is excellent. Complete re-do of the previous incarnations in a space on 7th ave just below Charles St. takes one to the adobe places of Sante Fe. The Bar upfront at the entrance is large and comphotable with what seems to be a legit smoking section. The food is authentic southwestern with a great posole stew and some terrific, hearty entres.
Had the rib eye steak which rocked! Wine List looked well balenced(did not partake). The service needs some work but everyone was trying hard.

Pros: good value, as yet undiscovered, aims to please

Cons: menu hard to read, odd shape to space
