I simply love Olive. Living in the neighborhood, I am there a lot. The staff is so friendly and the service immeasurable. It's the ONLY place in the Loin to go if you want great food, drinks and service... all in one! The mushroom truffle pizza is like no other - literally - I have never had such a great pizza. I am also a staunch beer drinker but the staff has gotten me to try a couple of their latest concoctions... I have to say they were great (for a beer girl). Highly recommended!

Me and my girlfriends have been here a couple of times. It's a cool place to meet friends. The staff is super friendly. The food is good also. Parking is not the business. If your in the area check it out.

I come here with my friends on the weekends. The girls here are beautiful. This is not a skeevy place, and the drinks never stop flowing. I love this bar, and the people who work here.

I am not sure what this place is supposed to be. A bar? A lounge? A restaurant? But it sure is the only gringo place in a decidedly South East Asian neighborhood (aka Little Saigon). Whatever I ate was really good. Good place for a date or to meet mates. I will have to try it again for a better opinion.

I went to Olive one time in 07, was attracted by the name of the place and it was near to the place I was staying. Nice bar and simple yet wonderfully interesting menu. It is nice and clean, good music, comfortable atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff and owner. They all worked hard to please, more than expected. I will definately be going back this year. Thanks - 'Olive' - for going above and beyond expectations.

My friend and I went here after work and it's a perfect Happy Hour place with great music and a good looking crowd. The bartenders are knowledgable, friendly and they pour a great mojito! I would definitly go again. Didn't try the food but it looked pretty tasty so I will the next Thursday night out!

I went for an art show, and it was wonderful. Everyone in there was so nice and cool. Not too many people know about it so it is quiet. I love this place and I will be going back for sure! They have a great staff and everyone is so nice. I broke a glass and usually at other places I would have to go find someone to to help me pick it up, but someone came within seconds of the glass breaking, and no one got mad. This place is drama free and a wonderful place just to go chill and have dinner.

Oh, I love the thin-crust pizza here! Try the mushroom and truffle oil pizza. And of course the Martini's with stuffed goat-cheese olives. Chill music in the background, nice booths. I had a crush on one of the bartenders for a while while i was single. I'm over that! But I still go there.

Olive is a nice little joint for a drink, and it's near the Great American Music Hall if you need to grab a bite before a show.

But, the food is only so so, and in my opinion not worth the price. The calamari was breaded with something that was slightly sweet, and the squid itself was more mushy than firm. The tuna was overcooked. The creme brulee tasted fine, but the glaze was too thick.

I'd try it again before not recommending it for dinner, but I'd definitely recommend it for a drink. It's a place where you can actually sit and chat with friends while having some yummy drinks and enjoying a nice vibe.

Used to live in Nob Hill and was at Olive several times a week after long days at the office. Olive has been the gem of the tenderloin bar scene since they opened. The bartenders are friendly, funny, and wonderful at what they do. The drinks are mixed to perfection, and the bar snacks are a huge step up from many other bard menus in this town. The stylish interior and great music make the place all-around great. Perfect place for a get-together or party. Get there early and take over one of the two front-corner booths.

Gil makes a mean martini and here's the secret: A little sprayer adds just a touch of vermouth and then to top it off, an olive stuffed with goat cheese. Yes, you heard me, goat cheese. You gotta try it.
Also, the appetizers are scrumptious, especially the one with Brie and fruit.
Atmosphere is really comfortable and there is no hipper than thou attitude goin' on down here. Don't be afraid of the Tenderloin, there are many jems there and this is one of 'em.

C'mon now...the neigbhorhood is not pretty, but it's not unbearable. Apparently Mr. Marina doesn't get out that often. Ever been to the Mission? About the same scene. (and who walks to Olive from cow hollow?!?!)

I've been to Olive several times, and it never disappoints. GREAT martini's. Love their pizza. Friendly service. It's the perfect spot to chill with a drink and have a light bite.

Hands down...one of my favorite bars in SF! I just threw my birthday at Olive, and Martina and Gill were the best hosts ever! The food was awesome, the drinks were amazing, the atmosphere was electrifying, and the whole vibe was all good! I could not have picked a better spot to have it. Everybody had such a great time! I will definitely be back soon, and cannot wait to plan another party there again in the future. Thanks to Martina, Gill, and Sue for an incredible night!

I like Olive. It's a nice bar in an interesting location. Good drinks and food. However, twice - TWICE I have been literally chased down the sidewalk after I left by a waiter screaming that I had underpaid the bill. Both times the waiter realized she (1st time)/he (2nd) was wrong and that I had left enough money plus a generous amount for tip. Neither time did the waiter apologize. The second time he acted like it was my fault! I have noticed that the crowds I once fought through to get to the bar at Olive have dwindled. It's not the drinks, not the food - must be the service that is keeping people from returning...

Amid a sea of bars in the area, this one is pretty unremarkable. However, the food kind of sets it apart. After reading the reviews here, I had to try the mushroom truffle pizza. It was pretty good. Got the fried calamari, very average (who breads calamari with breadcrumbs?) although the dipping sauce was excellent. The cheese plate was outstanding.

Olives is a great spot to grab a quick bite and a drink before catching a movie or show in the area. The small plates are all quite good, I've tried the chicken pate with fig jam, mini-calzones, sausage pizza, fries with red pepper aioli and calamari. They are all under $10 and pretty large. The decor is very colorful with nice art pieces and the music is good. Service is relaxed and the whole place has a good neighborly feel to it with a mixed crowd of locals. Overall a very nice spot in a not so nice location!

We spent the majority of our time waiting while at this bar last saturday night. We got there around 11 and although the servers were very nice and entertaining, you literally had to wave your hands in the air to get attention. There werent too many people there, we came in and had chairs available at a table as well as at the bar...so business isnt the excuse. The waiter and the bartender were busy chatting it up....ignoring us. The drinks were great, the food was great. It was purely the service that made us decide to leave.

I agree with others that the location is a bit sketchy, we saw multiple cross-dressers or similar prostitutes on the streets...we recommend taking a taxi!

On a Friday night, it was busy but wasn't crowded. We were able to get a comfortable corner booth. The I was surprised to find a cool space like this in the neighborhood. The menu offered an interesting variety of items. Definitely something for everyone. Everything I ordered was delicious and prepared well. Garlic prawns were served sizzling in olive oil and disappeared instantly. Foie gras terrine was hearty and served with a great nutty bread. And the smoked chicken pizza had the wonderful thin, crispy crust that I love. Service was limited, more of a bar-level of service than restaurant, but was polite and efficient. Overall, if you are in the neighborhood, this is definitely a cool spot for a casual bite to eat and a drink before hitting a show at GAMH.

And it is a wonderful addition to the Tenderloin but the staff really needs to work on their attitudes.

I LOVE Olive because I can go there and hear great music at a volume that is just perfect for still talking to friends, have very good cocktails and eat a big dinner or a little something depending on how hungry I am. The food is great, the service is warm and friendly and the walls are covered with good art.

This place rocks! If you can handle trompin' throught the 'loin to get there, it is well worth the effort. Great food, drinks, awesome relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended for a date - out of the way enough that he/she will think you are very hip and sophisticated ... not the same ol' Marina thang.

This is a nice somewhat classy spot in the heart of the Tenderloin. Perfect for after-work drinks. They also have a great happy hour with $5 martinis and half-off their pizzas. Highly recommended if you are watching your wallet.
