Definitely coming back! 5 Star Rating - World class

Sure it's a restaurant next to a hotel but hey, it's like finding a diamond in the rough! Most good places are like that. The selection is good and the food tastes great. The "Bo Luc Lac" was great and my wife had the Pho which she said was great as well. The food was fast and the wait staff are nice. In general, it's a nice cozy little place. If you like Austin and its "laid-back" attitude and love Vietnamese and Chinese food then Saigon Kitchen is for you.

Pros: Huge Selection of food, friendly wait staff, good food
Cons: near the highway with lots of constructions.

Not coming back 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

We visited this place because of the good reviews I read on Citysearch.

They served some vegetables while we waited for our Vietnamese egg rolls. The egg rolls looked like they were over-fried. They also tasted like they were fried in old oil, yuck.

I had a roast pork and shrimp egg noodle soup which was pretty good, until I ate the last shrimp. It tasted funny and I had to expel it! My SO ordered the combination pho. The flavor of the soup and the noodles were good, but the beef was TOUGH.

Not sure where the good reviews came from. But were not giving the place a second chance. We have had better Vietnamese food even at the chain restaurant Pho Que Huong in Dallas.

I had a stomach ache a few hours later, which I suspect was from the bad shrimp. If it matters, I am Asian and I am not really prone to getting sick eating at Asian restaurants.

Pros: Good service
Cons: Bad experience with food

Great place 5 Star Rating - World class

This place is great for Pho!! It is hardly ever full, so no worries about lines! The service is very prompt! ( if you like crab ragoon - ask for it!! it's not on the menu but they will make it and it's great! )

Pros: not crowded, good food

Place was empty at 6:30 PM on Saturday night 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Place was oddly empty when my wife and I visited it on a Saturday evening [By the way, it was a UT game night so that may have something to do with it being empty].

The waiter was polite; however, when I asked which fish or shrimp dish would he recommend that was spicy, he suggested the garlic salt shrimp which was very greasy and defintely way too salty. I probably should have played it safe and gone for a noodle bowl.

My wife ordered the sweet and sour shrimp soup which she liked.

We ordered the fried seseme banana for dessert and this was very delicious. Try this.

If you go, make sure you know what kind of dish you are getting before being too adventurous.

Pros: Polite waitstaff
Cons: Did not like garlic salt shrimp; too greasy
