Dark and classy, PS 450 may be Murray's Hill's answer to the impeccably dressed street fair of the Meatpacking District -- sans snooty doormen. The 32-foot sleek and modern bar, comfy banquets and streetside tables are perfect pre-game before heading to candlelit backrooms. There, you can catch the game on plasma TVs, order haute cuisine or listen to DJs 'til the wee hours.

Note: Eastsiders may not find the traditional frat-boy-grown-up here--unless he's playing the role in suit and tie (which suits us just fine).

Happy hour, weekend specials and party platters are popular picks.

Cons: It's still Murray Hill.

Just had my birthday here. The manager and staff were SUPER accommodating and friendly. The music was great and all of my friends keep calling to tell me what a great place I chose for my birthday. Just call a few weeks ahead of time if you need to reserved a space!

I love this place because it makes going out very easy. I don't know of anyone who has ever had a problem getting in, and everyone I bring there LOVES it. The music is a great mix of everything. The drinks are not that expensive. My biggest recommendation would be to get a table (which is free to do in advance, there's no minimum!) especially if you want a little room to dance because it gets packed very quickly. The food is also really good and the menu keeps changing so you never get bored!

the globe room? i would call it lost in the back of the room. Who wants to sit in the back of an over sized dive bar with waitress that can hardly speak English, She spent more time in the bathroom powering her nose than she did bringing us drinks. If I book a company party again it would not be with PS450.

Dont' get me wrong the place is nice and the music is popping, but the SERVICE and WORKERS ARE HORRIBLE! When i went there this saturday it was so overcrowded the whole night that it was shoulder to shoulder and you couldn't dance.

The bathroom attendants were really rude and pushy... slamming the door in everyones faces. The coatcheck room was very disorganized losing tickets and jackets. The Waitresses were rude and impatient. They have security all over the place which is understandable, but when there is no place to move in a shoulder to shoulder crowd why be all touchy on everyone.

I put my coat in coatcheck....gave my ticket at the end of the night ...but no jacket there....they either store my coat or gave it away to someone ELSE! I'm not the only one who had this problem , because they were plenty of people waiting for their coats and they were mostly misplaced!

Recently had a large party here (50-60 people), and it was a good time. We had our own private room in the back, which wasn't big enough for our large group but it didn't matter, everyone spilled out into the general bar area. Not too clubby, not too divey, just a fun bar.

Normally you would think walking into here it's just a nornal dive bar. Far from it. EVERYONE loves to have birthdays here for a reason. Its absolute entertainment. There's a LOng bar, so you can have fun, have drinks and conversation with all of your friends without losing them in a crowded 3 floor club. I have never been here to eat, but i WOULD recommend it for happy hr and great fun.

The appetizers are all really tasty. I liked the setup of the restaurant and bar. It had a really chill and fun atmosphere. It is in a good location and you should definitely check it out.

The last three reviews of PS 450 are B.S. This place is a great mix of Bar and Club. The music is really eclectic (rock, pop, hip-hop, dance), the staff is always friendly, the drinks are the cheapest north of 14th street, and you never have to wait more then a minute to get served. Also, no pretentious promoters or B.S. velvet ropes. Its just fun and not cheesy like its competition on 3rd Ave. It does get a little packed, but the crowd is NOT all meatheads as previously reported. In fact I'm not sure where else in the neighborhood you can find a 35ish guy in a suit and tie standing next to a 22 year old hipster. I go here a lot and I?ve never had any issues with the security. I think the reviewer who said he left and went to Les Halles must be over 60 years old. Halles is a restaurant that closes at midnight. Please... PS 450 is open all night, for real partiers.

(NOTE: All asterisks are CitySearch censorship) Do you like bars that require chest measurements of 50+ for entrance (for BOTH genders)? Is your kind of place one that's so loud your ears b*eed at the music and talk among patrons is throat scrapingly impossible? Does your taste run to a crowd so B+T that even the bouncer at the door is white? (And, by all appearances, a Russian m*fia weight-lifter.) Do you enjoy the scent of so much gym-powered testosterone that it drips from your nose hairs? How 'bout muscles bursting out of every off-white-just-left-the-office shirt with more meat between customer's ears than was ever packed in the meat-packing district? If so, this place is for you! These guys are so big I would be afraid to post this... if I thought they could read. Somehow, this bar wasn't quite our style. We left after 5 minutes and moved down the street to Les Halles. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers

A beautiful big bar with a real casual atmosphere, turned out to be a horror. The bartender was lousy she made the drinks weak and was not attentive at all and the bar was empty. I would not recommend this place.

PS 450 is terrible. The bouncer (obviously not very good at his job) confiscated my actual, real driver's license. He would not give it back, and NYPD had to come in order to help me get my ID back. I would never return again and not recommend it to anyone...you risk losing your ID and having your night ruined.

Everytime i go to this place i have issues with the bartenders. The first time: my bill was $16, i handed her a $100 bill and only got $4 as change! (I think she was trying to take advantage of the fact that i was pretty tipsy, and she figured she'd keep my 80 bucks!) As soon as I mentioned that she owed me $80 more, she went and got it without question or any hesitation. It was pretty obvious that she was trying to pull a fast one. Ofcourse she got NO tip. The next time: i ordered a Kettle and soda that was very, very weak. so i nicely asked the bartender if she could top it off. she gave me a really dirty look and then proceeded to (barely) top it off with some crappy house vodka! So i had to sit there and drink a really crappy mix of a watered down kettle/house vodka and soda. Haven't stepped foot in there since. I strongly suggest you don't either.

Went here last Friday night for some drinks with friends. Had a great time - crowded, but not too crowded. Drinks aren't too overpriced, and the music was great. Definitely a good place to chill out and dance a bit.

Don't usually leave reviews but was at PS 450 last Friday night after some friends told me to check it out. The drinks were a little expensive but the music was good and the bartender in the back is HOT!!!!!!!!! -- She kept me and my boys there buying shots all night. No idea why the other two are up front because I would've come in just seeing her from the street ... definitely the best eye-candy I've seen in awhile. Great time out... Maybe next time she will give in and give up her phone number...:)

I can't say enough about the hospitatlity shown by the entire staff at PS 450. Entertaining corporate events such as Happy Hour(s) can be a breeze with these PRO's. Our wonderful waitress addressed the smallest details, the fruit & cheese platter was fresh...remember it's October, nice touch. The decor was very relaxing after a long day. The music was nice- even better because we could talk to each other.

All in all I was very pleased to have hung out with the PS450 crowd & more importantly my staff was "HAPPY" for more than an "HOUR" ....PRICELESS : )

Volstead here we come...

ThanX 4 everything.

i threw a party with 30 people for my best friend's bday, and absolutely loved it! they held the back room for us, and were soo accomodating.. everyone had a great time and the server allowed us to open several tabs, so we didnt have to deal with the hassle of calculating the check at the end when we were all pretty drunk! the music was good, the decor pretty and the drinks delicious.. had a great time!

We were there Saturday Night and had an awesome time. Great drinks, music and prices. The back section was packed all night - I think it may have had something to do with the two hot flirty bartenders back there. Their service was great and they made everyone want to have fun. Definetly going back and recommend it to anyone else who is interested in having a good time!!

Hey partygirl, do you know why you could get a table without bottle service or leaving a deposit on a friday night? Because you're in freakin Murray Hill! The day that a bar in that neighborhood makes you a) wait behind a red rope or b) makes you buy a bottle to get in is the day I move out of new york altogether. I couldn't think of a worse bar, in a worse neighborhood, attracting worse people. There should be a sign on the door that says, "No Lacoste shirt, no aviator shades, no popped collars, no entry." I'm shocked the Murray Hill girls that go there can stand to leave their Burberry clothed yorkies long enough to sit down and order some crudite and an appletini. It's like I'm talking to a child. What's the point.

I had my husband's 30th birthday in the back room on a Saturday night We had preordered food which our guests raved about. The staff was very helpful and even when it got very busy our tiny waitress (she was adorable) got through the crowd and provided excellent service. The music was awesome. We couldn't have asked for a better night.

I work upstairs from PS 450, so am a regular. It's a shame that not more is said in the CS review about the food - the food is great; sliders are the best in the city, salads are fantastic, even the hummus has kick. The bartenders are also fantastic - very friendly and casual. It does get way too crowded on Th/Fr evenings, but that's par for the course with the type of place it is, I guess. Also, if you live in Murray Hill, go for the weekend brunch. Fantastic.

This is absolutly the place to go if you want to have a good time with out paying big bucks. We were in last Friday night and wow. We were able to get a table wtih out having to order bottle service or give a deposit. We did however end up going to the bar more for our drinks. The back bartenders are awesome. The girl back there I can't remember her name but is definetly worth checking out. She is beautiful and could have one of the sweetest personalities ever not to mention fast. Although the guys are usually flocked around her its worth waiting for her service. Ask her for a tasty shot and she will whip out something new and exciting for you. Definetly going back!!

Picked this spot to have my birthday party with 25 people in the back. Things going great until I tried to STOP and argument from escalating with one of my guests & someone from another party. Then this twirp staff member with glasses tries to act like a bigshot who didn't even know what was going on tells the bouncers I started trouble and they kick me out...the birthday boy gets kicked out! They didn't even care that they were losing such a huge party, professionals none the less and not like we looked like trouble makers either. Manager didn't even want to hear it...we had to close out a bunch of tabs that were open including mine...at least i didn't sign my check...they aren't getting a penny from me. On top of that one of the bouncers started yelling at me because I refused to sign my bill. Now this is your security hard at work for you. Ya they really made me feel safe!
This place is way overrated...music was ok but that staff (excluding waitresses they worked hard i'll admit) has got to go. Especially the manager...grow some nuts & listen to both sides of a story. Totally didn't want to hear me out. I suggest go to Red Sky around the corner...they have a rooftop & better music.

My date took me here on a Friday night... it was ridiculously packed, and the music, though good, was extremely loud. good looking girls and guys, but def your typical Murray Hill-ers... The scene is much like that of Tonic. Bartenders are nice, but not really generous pourers (the bartenders at Tonic are better). I would go back there with a big group of people maybe, but would not go back here for a date.

I was at PS 450 this past weekend and was so impressed with how attentive and sweet everyone was! From the bouncers all the way to the manager (who personally came over and introduced himself) everyone made sure my group was more than taken care of. PS 450 made sure the whole night ran smoothly. We called ahead, reserved some space and it was there waiting for us - what a pleasant surprise! I will definitely be coming back here - great drinks, great music...great vibe!

This "club" is absolutely nothing special. The bouncers are inexperienced and obviously couldn't handle the mini-line that had developed. One of them thought my friend's ID was fake (he's 36!). He was a huge a-hole. He had to call for another bouncer who, after almost 25 minutes of waiting, said it was absolutely fine. Let me tell you though, the first bouncer has a mouth on him. The inside of the place is typical, but P.S. 450 isn't going to make it if they keep up this sort of service when they weren't even crowded on a Saturday night. One word: OVERRATED. Make it two words: overrated AND crappy.

25 min line that was kept orderly and fair by a great bouncer. After we made it in we saw what all the fuss was about. The bar was jumping. The drinks were great and the atmosphere was amazing! My friend celebrated her birthday in style. Definitly worth the wait!1

Had Brunch with a group of 15! Staff was incredibly accommodating. All meals arrived within 5 minutes of each other. Food was excellent and fun (e.g., sausage and egg sliders, etc.). Price was even better --- brunch entrée and bloody mary or mimosa for $10! Try this place (and sit in the open front lounge area if it's a nice day)!

Had my birthday here on a Friday night with 25-30 guests. Very easy to set up, and Jodie is very helpful in the process. No minimum, no bottles required. As planned, tables were reserved, and our waitress kept our tables even though we came in later than scheduled. Guests had no problems coming in, and drinks are reasonably priced. Great all-around.

From the front door to the end of the night i had a great time! When we got there around 12. There was a line, the doorman was soooo cool. Even though we were waiting for about 7min he made us feel like we were waiting for 30 sec. The bar was filled with hot girls and great drinks. The DJ was spinning really good music. Me and my boys had a great time.

Great spot, except the bouncers man handle all the patrons for no reason. They shove people aside for no reason. I've been here quite a few times and met many great people here. The bartenders and waitress are great, but the security is way too "thug-ish" for the type of clientele that PS 450 entertains. This bouncer situation has been an issue for me and all my friends everytime we've been there, and they push and shove the women too like they're men. I've decided that if the security continues to act in such an unproffessional way, I will no longer go to PS 450. They really ruin a great place to hang out.

Had a great party at PS450 on recent Saturday with about 50 latetwentysomethings. We reserved six tables about a week in advance. Had most of a beaded private room and took over the back bar. Five hours of great drinks, great service, and great music. Really great music. Aside from stumbling home afterwards, had a great time. No problem getting people in the door. I'd recommend the sliders as an ideal pre-drinking bite.

Held a small private party on a Wed. Very easy to work with PS 450 to set up the room, food, etc. Service was really attentive and courteous. The evening manager stopped by a few times to ask if things were okay. A couple nice private spaces in the back with a bar and great atmosphere. No minimum or charge to hold the room. Thanks PS 450!

I love this place. I live around the corner and have been a steady regular since they opened. The staff is friendly and the food is great. Recently, I had a bunch of relatives in town and I took them all there for brunch. Little did I know, but they actually have a full brunch menu now. We tried just about every item on it. Everyone was ecstatic. I personally loved the breakfast slider sampler, while all raved about the "monkey bread." The chorizo hash was killer and so was the french toast. I will definitely be going back for more. See you there...on Sundays, of course.

I have been going to PS 450 since it opened in Feb. and I can say it is the best lounge in manhattan. No pretention at tthe door, excellent atmosphere, quite when it should be and crazy wild packed on the weekends. The atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the AMAZING mixed drinks make this the best lounge in manhattan. Check it out, but be warned, they'll make you feel like home and you may never leave.

PS 450 is a horrible place for a birthday party. My boyfriend and I had our birthday here this weekend, we called a MONTH prior to reserve and was the FIRST to reserve for 50 people. We got there that night to a tiny space that we had to SHARE with two other groups - we got pushed and shoved. We tried to speak to the management and they did not care. Half our friends also could not get in due to the 45 minute wait at the door and the bouncer did not care that they were there for a party - when we were told ALL our guests would be there. Beside the music and our waitress, it was a let down.

Its a really chill lounge before the calvary comes in and packs this place so tight that bodies automatically rub each other just walking from each side of the room. The prices are nice, as are the drinks, but avoid this place on the weekends if you care about space.

I just had my birthday party at PS 450 on Friday night. They don't do guest lists so I was worried that everyone wouldn't get in. Some of my friends had to wait a little bit, but that was no big deal. The DJ was great too - He played everything you wanted to hear without it being too Top 40. Like some of the other reviews say, it does get crowded but that's NYC. I would definitely go back and tell my friends to have their parties there too.

Pros: Good Crowd, Good Music

i organized a casual get-together with a bunch of disparate friends and it was the ideal place to meet up. i wanted a place where people could feel comfortable mingling around if they didn't necessarily know anyone else, and where people could also have the option of going to dinner nearby if they wanted.

PS 450 is ideal. you have a good built-in work crowd from the new york life/credit suisse/ziff davis crowd around the area, plus it's a stone's throw from murray hill, so you can go a little more upscale but still not lose the relatively youthful crowd that you would find on third ave. on top of that, you have some great restaurants nearby--les halles, blue smoke, houston's, i trulli, dos caminos, and then all the great restaurants further down park avenue south as you get towards union square.

there's some decent bar food, as well.

no lists and you don't have to buy a bottle or anything like that. none of the usual nyc bs. the place is more like a big lounge than a club. great menu (they serve food late) great music and a really good looking crowd.

I will be very unbiased on this review. The atmosphere was excellent here. The drinks were good. Although I did not order any food, my buddy ordered some sliders and they looked great to eat. My only problem with this place was that the owner SUCKS. He has no class and for that reason, I would never frequent this place again. The reason being, he was very rude to my girlfriend and I. There are too many bars in NYC for me to come back again.
