Mission serves modern Latin cuisine with hints of Yucatan, Spain and Oaxaca mingled together in exciting fresh combinations, which will satisfy your hunger and please your palate. Try the fresh margaritas to quench your thirst and then finish off with sinful molten chocolate cake or other home made postres. The atmosphere at Mission combines contemporary architecture with sultry old world charm. Sit in a cozy booth, lounge on couches upstairs or take a table overlooking the action on the mezzanine. This is a great place for a candle lit date or to invite friends and take advantage of the group seating areas. Mission also offers a private bar and lounge for parties up to 40.

The restaurants margaritas were great, strong, and absolutely lived up to my expectation of this award winning margaritas of the past 4 years in a row. The environment was fun and the food was great. Sometimes the staff can make or break your establishment let me assure you right away the hostess, the servers, the bartenders were all fantastic.

Great Time
by CRichter
I frequent this restaurant / bar and needed a place to have a good size group ( 14) that was close to home.
I called and Peter called me back, He went out of his way to get us a nice set of tables downstairs on a busy Friday night. He and the staff provided a large, noisy group with great service.
I tried something I had not had before, the Mushroom Quesidilla and it was YUMMY!
Thanks again Peter, we will be back.

Pros: Good Service

Good food. Service was not great.
by ag2
Our server was barely pleasant. Appetizers were great. One of the dinner was average (steak skewers) and the other one was very good. Will eat there again.
Pros: Food was tasty - stuffed jalepenos was great
Cons: Server attitude

Great neighborhood restaurant, but doesn't honor coupons
by SpecialPhysX
We really enjoyed our meal here at Mission, but were just so unhappy that the manager refused to honor the dine out coupon that we brought with us. Food is not inexpensive here.
Pros: Food is good, decor is inviting, nice crowd
Cons: Service is slow, Mgr refused to honor our coupon

By far one of the best!!!
by jeans71
We recently had a birthday party there, the service was over the top. We had a group of 37 and there was not one complaint from anyone! In fact they all can't wait to have their own parties there.
The food was very authentic and there is a reason they were voted best margaritas 3 yrs in a row!!
The owner went well out of his way to make this event special, by serving us himself all evening of course with help from the friendly staff. I highly recommend you go check out the Mission Bar you will not be let down. Not to mention the space is beautiful!
Pros: Over the top service!! Amazing food and drinks
Cons: I couldn't think of one the place is great!!!

OK food, great atmosphere..
by tracy8989
Been 2 times with a group of 3. Both times our food has been average. I didnt even bother taking my leftovers home the last time. It's a neat place to have a drink (seems lots of people were doing that). I dont think I'd eat there again.
Pros: Good place to get a drink
Cons: Parking stinks.. but thats West Seattle for ya..

Great food, great service
by janetkim1
I recently organized a birthday party for a friend at Mission and everything went off without a hitch. We had about 40 guests and the space was perfect for mingling and for a sit down dinner. The service was amazingly prompt and the food was great. The owner was great about communicating with me before the event to make sure all our needs were met. Thank you!

everything was perfect!
by Daners00
i'm all about eating somewhere with a great environment, and that is totally what we got when we stepped into mission. right away the hostess, the servers, the bartenders were all so friendly. what i liked is that they were not business friendly, but more like someone i would run into on the street friendly. the food was yummy. i recommend the guacamole with the plantains! the margaritas were tasty, strong, and absolutely lived up to the margaritas of the year award they won for the last 4 years or so. and try the coconut ice cream. by the end, my boyfriend and i were fighting over who was going to get the last bite.
Pros: great boose, dark and lively environment, tasty food
Cons: i dont live here!

Great staff, great food, great spirits, great atmosphere
by soodonim
I totally agree with supernova72. The entire staff is aces, beginning with Michael who greets and seats us with a smile and a ready quip. We?ve had the good fortune to be served at various times by Katrina, Dondra, Amanda, Meagan, Audrianna and other delightful people. Seth and Todd behind the bar are tops in their profession as are Art & company in the kitchen. Heck even Peter, the owner, came to our table to say hello. The warm and friendly spirit of this very talented group is contagious. We?ve always enjoyed the great food choices and the excellent service and everyone we?ve recommended to come here raves about the experience. We are very happy to have this very groovy establishment and these extraordinarily talented and lovely people in our neighborhood.
Pros: It's walking distance!
Cons: It's walking distance!

Gotta love the staff
by supernova72
Having lived in West Seattle for several years this is one of my favorite places to visit. What the owners have done to the interior is pretty amazing. Besides tasty food and beverages I especially appreciate the staff. I'm not in the industry but feel I know who gets it and who doesn't on the service side of things (a big plus at Mission).
IMHO Dondra and Amanda certainly seem to be the key members that keep this restaurant humming along and make it a must visit. It's not hard to convince my friends (male or female) to visit the Mission when I say either or both of them are working that night.
Fantastic good cheap eats at happy hour. Keep up the great work and I hope the "sassy" staffing model remains in tact. If I wanted a more traditional staffing approch, that would be a trip to the Matador.
Pros: Great staff
Cons: I keep calling it "The Mission" vs. Mission

Food is Phenomenal, Service is Okay.
by fuzzynavel
The food here is excellent. You can't beat it for some great Latin fare. The service was slow, as if they didn't have enough people on staff or something; the server was kind of scattered. The prices are not low, and you want good service if you're paying that much.

Ho-hum experience
by chura
To be fair, I've been here only once. But probably wouldn't go back. The service, from being seated, to being served and paying the bill was slow and indifferent on a Saturday night. We opted for the tapas menue, and the food was fine, though not good value for the money. There were heaps of raw red cabbage and carrots with every plate, almost comically so. The best was the sauce that came with the flautas.
Overall, less than mediocre service, mediocre food, nice decor. Probably a good place to have drinks if you don't mind meeting someplace pricier than it needs to be.
Pros: Decor, easy parking
Cons: Service, niggardly portions

Great Place to eat and relax.
by stoepel
Whet there on Thursday night and it was my first time to eat there and the food was outstanding. The portions were just the right size. The drinks were good. Refreshing new place I found!
Pros: Two-story, nice atmosphere
Cons: A little dark, but they have candles.

Really good, great service and great mojitos. The dinner menu is great and the ambiance is very nice. A nice place to take a group.

Needs some work!
by beckybabyb
I live just a few blocks away and really want to love this place, but although the staff is friendly and the ambience is cool and relaxed, the food misses the mark. Tapas are much better than the entrees, but all around, the food needs work. Vegetarian enchiladas came in flour tortillas when corn tortillas would have been more appropriate, and the yams in the filling were drastically undercooked and crunchy. On another night, the tamales were rubbery and lacking in flavor. Love the guacamole and the nachos however! Perhaps the kitchen should shorten the menu and work on perfecting their most popular dishes.
I have tried all of the wines on the wine list, and although they are good, the list either needs to be expanded or changed, as it is simply much too short! Also, their "happy hour" could be improved by including some food items and maybe some wines as well.
Pros: good guacamole and nachos, friendly staff, great ambience
Cons: poor entrees, weak happy hour, inconsistent food

Funky place with Real mexican food
by kimmidee
My sister and I went to a birthday party at Mission. They rented the top floor with the private bar and couches. We had a blast. We didn't expect much when it came to food, but we were amazed at how good it was. My sister lived in Mexico for two years and said how authentic and fresh the food was. The menu is huge. The margaritas are citrusy and strong. The ambiance is funky and dark with tons of candles and iconic decor. We are definately going back for dinner.
Pros: Authentic Food and cool decor
Cons: only open for dinner, easy to miss from outside

great atmosphere, uneven food
by squidburger
I like this place, but I just can't love it yet. Why? The food's a little uneven and they can't seem to match the portions and prices; some small plates are expensive and large ones are cheap. And it's not the ingredients. There needs to be more depth in the flavors too. However, the feeling of twilight in Latin America rocks, and the drinks are solid and fairly priced. A good meeting spot for friends.

Consistanly great
by kadiwood
I love when one of my favorite restaurant/lounges starts off "good" and continues to "great". Mission's food and drink menus have gotten larger and better since they opened. My friends and I were in last Tuesday and the place was hoppin. The food was great and the server was fun. The food is definately not "tex-mex" like most of the surrounding mexican restaurants. It wasn't covered in cheese with 5 pounds of beans. Everything on the plate tasted fresh and was on the plate for a reason. I tried thier new margarita off thier drink list and it was awesome. The crowd got a little louder as the night progressed, but what can I say, it is also a bar.
Pros: Great food, good for large groups
Cons: little loud late night

Cute place, food not that great.
by nancysee
The wall behind the bar is cool. It's made of stacked slate, and is illuminated by the many candles. It's a cute trendy place; appetizers better than the entrees; dessert better than the appetizers; sangria tasty but not very strong. You can pass by this place without knowing it's even there but definitely worth at least one visit just to go - food is nothing to boast about. It's supposed to be one of the upcoming restaurants in seattle but I don't think it'll last if they don't work on the entrees. Average dish is less than $15.
Pros: good street parking, cool ambiance, appetizers are yummy.
Cons: entrees aren't that great.

C+ is the grade I would give this Restaurant.
by amrakx
I found the interior ambience soothing, cool, something you would find in Yaletown in Vancouver. The bartender was friendly and patient. I like to take my time perusing the menu. Nothing on the menu jumped out at me. The plantains / guacamole was good (no cilantro yeah!) and the chicken flautas were ok. The fish tacos were ok. Nothing appeared exceptional so I wonder what all the hoopla and rave reviews were all about?
Pros: Cool on a hot day...
Cons: Nothing extraordinary...

Winter menu is better than summer
by shlbn8r
Really like the ambience here. The blue wall is so soothing. Only issue is that I don't like the menu change in the summer. Great mojito's though.

thumbs up!
by akgirl22
I held a friend's birthday party for 16 people on a Friday night. Our server was more than accomodating, the appetizers were delicious and drinks were tasty and quick. The ambiance was very trendy, perfect for a night out with friends
Pros: service, food, large party friendly
Cons: limited parking

Pleasant Surprise
by Garth
Mission was recommended by a friend. I made reservations before reading the reviews, which left me with some doubts. Contrary to some of the reviews the service and attitude of the servers and the host were all exemplary. Food was good to very good. All in all, a good experience.
Pros: Food, Service, Decor
Cons: Parking

We have been here a few different times and each time service has been wonderful. Food is fantastic, can't understand other reviewers complaints but to each his own! I think this place rocks!! Manager is helpful, we had a birthday party there two months ago and everyone loved it. Great looking inside, unassuming outside (which I like) just what West Seattle needed!
Pros: service, food, margaritas
Cons: parking

Should have went to Jalisco
by coachlover
After spending several minutes driving around the block trying to find a parking space(parking is terrible), we were quickly seated by the hostess. We ordered couple of Margaritas which were just OK. The food was very well prepared, but we enjoyed the chicken enchilandas(very tasty) much more than the tamales. A little spendy for the amount of food/drinks that we got. Afterwards, we thought we should have went to Jalisco instead.
Cons: Parking, Expensive

Terrible Service, Don't Bother
by burngod
We booked a birthday party there for 15 the week before christmas, but when we showed up the bar manager claimed we had canceled the reservation. Obviously, since we were standing there, we hadn't canceled but the bar manager just said "Can't help, ya" and began washing dishes. We stood around awkardly for a few minutes and no staff approached us to help us out or find space for us. Terrible customer service like that won't keep this place in business long. From the looks of the other reviews, neither will A1 sauce...
Pros: A1 Sauce
Cons: Bad service

Evening Review = Just OK
by spankmehard
This is a small and snug location - it's easy to miss this spot. This environment lays out a candle-lit lounge (not restaurant) that sits fairly snugly to a fair size bar. The dim lighting does help relax, but everything else feels fairly standard and not cozy. There are a couple of flat screen TVs that sports fans cheer over. I love tapas, but my orders werent impressive. The Fish Ceviche had too much sour lime. The Tiger Shrimp were pretty timid. The Chayote Chile Relleno, however, is worth a try for chili lovers. The food experience was just OK at best. The happy hour margaritas are always a great idea, but my batch was significantly bitter. The service was friendly and attentive Nothing about this place really stands out, but its worth a peek if you walk by. Look for tapas elsewhere.
Cons: Parking

Loved it!
by mungo
I kept hearing people talking about how good this place was, but I hadnt been yet. I finally had a reason to go last week as my friend had reserved the upstairs bar for a private party.
It was kind of hard to find, and pretty plain from the outside. But when got inside out of the rain, it opened up into a beautiful, sexy, cozy, candle lit space. Its much bigger than it seems from the outside. And having the bar on the mezzanine above the main floor reserved for our party felt extra swanky.
The food I had was wonderful. Id never had a flautus (sp?) before. If you get a chance to eat one, dont hesitate. Therere dam good! One other thing I noticed was that the staff seemed like they were genuinely having a good time (which can be rare in this town). I loved it!
Pros: Party rental, Food, Friendly
Cons: Parking, Crowed

My friends and I have been going to mission several times since it opened, but the service keeps getting worse with each visit. The ambience is fantastic, but the food leaves something else to say. I definitely have to mention that any Mexican restaurant you go to, they will never try to give you A1 sauce and pretend its mole sauce. It doesnt matter what u add to it, its still steak sauce (not that I have something against steak sauce, its not Mexican). Surprised after that experience we keep going for the bartenders Margaritas and Mojitos, which are the best in the area!! Hope they could pay more attention to their menu, specially knowing they come from El Camino.
Pros: Consistency on drinks, Lounge area upstairs
Cons: Some of the food

Great the first time not so good the second
by boblandre
I was so surprised! Two weeks ago I went into Mission, it was a quiet Tuesday evening, 6:00pm no loud music, no smoking, a few patrons but not jammed yet. The four of us had a wonderful meal, great conversation, a nice relaxing evening. Wandered in there last night(June 7) 7:20pm made reservations, yet the sign said seat yourself, no tables available downstairs, no one hosting, one waitress seemed perplexed that we told her we had a reservation. We were seated upstairs...way too much smoke, poor ventilation. The music was so loud we couldnt talk. The service so supurb before was inconsistant. The waitress although helpful was not connected with us. The food was good as usual we keep trying different main dishes. The next visit will decide if we come back or not, or if we recommend Mission to all our foody friends. Sorry folks
Pros: food, decor, wait staff
Cons: smoke, noise, music

This is what West Seattle was missing.....
by satellite333_33
We've lived in West Seattle about a year-and-a-half and could just never find a cool, fun, hip bar that we enjoyed frequenting. We heard great things about Mission so we went to check it out for happy hour drinks and apps. Let me say - this was the bar we had been so desperately seeking to find in our neighborhood! Yahoo! Loved the drinks, the food, the service, the decor and the ambiance. The house margaritas were excellent as was the app we tried. And, glancing over the dinner menu - I was pleasantly surprised at the prices. All entrees between about $9-$12 - those prices seem to be hard to find for a tasty dinner. Finally, a fabulous bar for West Seattle. I know Mission is going to begin seeing a lot of us - and our friends!!!
Pros: Very Hip, Good Prices, Warm Fun Ambiance
Cons: None!

I have been to Mission countless times since the opening and have not been disappointed yet! I've went with a big group for a celebreation, for a romatic dinner with my husband, and an early more causual dinner with my husband and our 8 month old boy. The staff were friendly and helpful every single time and I have never been let down by the food (or drinks!). All around, you can't go wrong by visiting Mission!

The house Margaritas were AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!
by darrend
This is a great place. First time there. The house margaritas weren't watered down as all you could taste was tequila. They were great. The wait staff was very friendly and allowed enough to be able to look at the entire menu before coming back. The only thing we would have liked is more fish in the fish tacos for the price. Would also like to have chips and salsa.
Pros: Great Ambience, Flavorful food, Friendly Staff
Cons: No side dishes , more appetizers

I've been to Mission many times and always have a great time. Margaritas are great, food is fresh and so flavorful (try the chile relleno!), and the service is friendly and quick. It's also absolutely beautiful inside!
Pros: Great beer selection, Vegetarian friendly, Open late

West Seattle needed this!
by oliverdrum
After several visits, I highly recommend Mission. Found the food, service and drinks all excellent; in particular the beef skewers, mushroom quesedilla, and cornflake crusted Halibut are favorites. In a neighborhood with mostly subdued (read: boring) restaurants, Mission is a fun, social place to eat or just have drinks. Good music, exceptionally friendly bartenders, and great lighting make the vibe of this place top notch.

Ive been here a few times now and everything i have eaten has been great! So far I've had Fish tacos, Flautas, Tamales all were very well presented and fresh. I like the ambieance of the place a lot. A great place for drinks and some food. Definetly worth a trip! You wont be dissapointed.

Sounds like betsyac has a personal vendetta?
While Mission may have some kinks to work out, I found this West Seattle hotspot to be visually stunning and their Margaritas to be excellent. My wife had the cornflake encrusted halibut and it was truly unique and delicious.
Mission is a worthy destination spot.
Pros: cool atmosphere, tasty drinks, attractive crowd
Cons: limited parking, crowded wknds
