We are a family of 5. Mom, Dad and three boys ages 5, 8 and 9. Each of two previous years we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and loved it, but for a change we decided to try out a three day stay at Maui Sands. We were only there about 90 minutes before I went to the front desk to check out and ask for our money back. Our room was incomplete and the children's bunk beds were 3/4 of the size of an actual twin sized bed. The waterpark was incomplete. At least one of the restaurants was not yet up and running and neither was the spa. We were not notified of any of this even upon checking in. The waterpark in general was disappointingly small. Our kids would have been bored after the first evening there. We wound up staying at Kalahari instead. It actually cost us less and it was a FANTASTIC experience. I would highly recommend Kalahari to anyone of any age. I know we'll be returning there! Maui Sands might be ok once they have the entire resort up and running - if you don't have high expectations.
