I sometimes get takeout of sesame chicken and chicken and broccoli. The food is hot and of high quality and tastes very fresh. I have never had any issues

Likely worst Chinese food in 20 years in Raleigh. No service, at all. Wish I'd just driven by and thrown my money out the window.

Went online and ordered from their online menu -- two items from the ""Top 10 Gourmet"" list -- paid more, but hey, we'll also get salad, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. When the food arrived, salad, egg rolls and crab rangoon were not there, so called the restaurant, figuring they made a mistake and would come back out with the missing food. Instead, guy on the phone insists that the items are ordered are NOT on the ""Top 10 Gourmet"" online menu (which I was looking right at, and were), so they're not bringing it out.

Love this place! Love eating here! Location is easy to miss tucked away in shopping center, but definitely a good date night locale. There's a really cool koi fish pond, lots of fresh flowers & the waitstaff are so friendly/helpful. They also do really good take out & they deliver! Honestly, no complaints besides the bathroom being a little sketchy, but I'm coming for the food--not to hang out in the bathroom. I would highly recommend this place for a variety of reasons--value, quality & overall atmosphere. All the regular staples with some Thai food mixed in the menu--lots of selection. Go here; you won't regret it!

Went to the 8pm movie at the Colony last night and we decided to try the Peking Garden beforehand instead of the usual fare down the street at NHM.\n\nI arrived about 15 minutes before my friend and thought I would get a table and take time to peruse the menu. While I stood at the sign that said ""please wait to be seated"" for the next 9 minutes I could not for the life of me get the 2 waitresses that were working the rather empty dining room to even make eye contact...let alone even make a sweeping glance across their dining room. Many people seemed to use the place as a take out as lots of people arrived and stood around with me just waiting around for their already called in orders. Finally a man (the owner or manager came out?) came out and handed out bags of food. So I was finally noticed! ""You don't have take out?"" ""No, table for 2 please.""\nGreat I got a table now... friend still on way so experience is still salvageable, right??!?. I planned to order 2 glasses of water and a sake while waiting and still maybe time to look over the menu! No. Remember I was seated by the guy? Well he apparently doesn't wait tables, no that is left up to the 2 gals who seem to again be making sure to not make eye contact. It was if I was seated in no man's land! Finally my friend shows up, I wave friend over. Waitress finally comes by, immediately asks if I know what I want. Lessee, 5 page menu, 2 minutes to look at it for me, 45 seconds for friend. I order 2 waters, 1 Sho Chiku Bai Sake. ""What?"" ""Sho Chiku Bai Unfiltered Sake, please"" ""Whaaa"" ""Unfiltered Sake, please"" ""Ohh ok"". Did I get the 1 brand of unfiltered sake listed on the menu? No, I got some SUPER sweet, dessert sake....yes it was unfiltered but don't even remember what it was but I will shun that bottle if I ever see it again!\nOn to the menu. Big menu. Lots of choices! Too bad I am now pressed for time have to make a split second decision! My friend mentions movie time to waitress, we order. He gets General Tso Chicken, I get Chicken Thai Bangkok. \n\nFriend appears to like his GTC, I try it, rather sweet for what it is supposed to be and the chicken is heavily breaded. My dish is advertised as ""Served with mixed vegetables in a hot basil sauce"". Yes there were mixed vegetables and it was a rather healthy portion and fresh vegetables, points for that! However it was neither hot nor was there even a hint of basil flavor let alone a leaf I could find! It was not bad, it just was underwhelming and saucy and mostly flavorless. If I order something from the menu that has a ""spicy"" designation then by god it should at the very least be the equivalent of 1 alarm chili! This was bland and could have been any other chicken dish from the menu!\n\nFinally, we are winding down. Movie is coming soon, would have loved to try a dessert but there is just not enough time. Waitress wants to take plates away, friend asks for boxes. I finish plate while he boxes the rest of his from his ""serving plate"". I look up and realize that my serving plate with the other half of my food is gone, styrofoam tray still laying on table next to me flipped open and empty. C'mon man?!? \n\nThere is much better chinese/thai/vietnamese choices all over N Raleigh. This place needs to fix their service issues before worrying about their menu. I am sure it serves well as a semi-affordable take/out delivery for some people, but if this is your idea of authentic asian food or even ""thoughtful"" asian food, you need to get out more! I doubt I will ever be back.\n\n

We stopped for dinner at Peking Garden after the 7pm movie at the Colony. Several tables were seated when we arrived. We ordered and found the food bland and tasteless. It was also way too expensive. We had eaten there in the past and the food was good and cheaper. Is there new management? I stepped into the mens room and found the entire place soaking wet including water dripping down the walls, puddles covering the floor and water all over the fixtures including the toilet seats. When I asked about the condition, I was told that they just washed the floors... sorry. As we sat, someone was sweeping up in the other side of the room. Every stroke of the broom clunked either against furniture or the shovel he was carrying. This all contributed to a totally aweful experience. We will never go back there again.

This used to be our favorite restaurant. We have slowly seen both the food and the service go downhill, and last night will be our last night dining here. The food was mediocre, the service was non-existent, and no one at the restaurant even cared. The manager watched me get up twice to find a water pitcher to bring to the table, and he still sat at the back in front of his computer.

I've lived in Raleigh for about 15 years, and this is by far the best place to get Chinese food that I know of. For one thing, it's not some greasy all-you-can-eat buffet place, but a real restaurant. So the food is well prepared, and tastes great! Prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. The staff is always pleasant, even when the place is packed which it usually is on the weekends.

Peking Garden is simply some of the best, most authentic chinese food in Raleigh and its longevity is testimony to that. It is a small, intimate restaurant with a cool koi pond just as you enter. The menu is very extensive, with what the typical American diner would consider unusual, rare, even bizarre foods. Luckily, they have standard Chinese favorites, too. We love the fact that they deliver, offer brown rice (for $1.00 extra), and have excellent wait staff. The prices are higher than the quik-stop Chinese buffet establishments, but the food is of much higher quality.

I love this place. The food is always good, the service is fine, and I have never had trouble getting a table. The portions are large, and reasonably priced. I love the Black Pepper Steak - its a nicer cut of meat than you find in most Chinese places, and comes with appetizers making it a good value.

This place is very good. They have a nice ambience with Asian decor, an aquarium and a koi pond. They have the usual Chinese dishes on the menu, but also have a "Authentic Chinese" section of the menu with some interesting choices. Every time we've been, the food was excellent. The main reason I like this restaurant so well is that the ingredients are fresh, and nothing is greasy. My husband likes some of the items on the "authentic" menu, as well as the really spicy dishes. If you like Chinese food, there is something for everyone. For the most part, the service is good, but there have been a few times I was not impressed with the waitstaff.

I would not recommend this establishment to my worst enemy. After waiting for over an hour for a delivery order, I found long wavy black hair in my food. I called Peking Gardens and told them what I found in my food, the gentleman that answered the phone told me he would bring my money (32.00) back to me. After waiting for another hour and no one coming to pick up the discusting food and returning my money, I called again and was told that they were very busy and I could bring the food to them and get a refund. I nicely explained to the man that I didn't go out to get the hairy food and I didn't feel I should have to go out to bring it back and get a refund. After all isn't that the point of getting a delivery order.(DUH) So as I set here writing this review, I am still waiting for someone to pick up this food and bring back my money. I only hope other people do not go through what I have been through this eveving. Hopefully Wangs Kitchen will be getting a call from me soon, as we are starving by this point.

Cons: wonderful if you like hair in your food

.

When I first visited this restaurant, I had nothing but high praises for it, the second time not so bad, but the third time the service was awful. I don't know, may be I went at a bad time, but I must say that the food is good, but not good enough for the bad service that was received. The prices are pretty high, and seating is limited.

They had the best dim sum in town..always fresh, and delicious and then suddenly it stopped and no mention of it returning. What a disappointment. Other than that, it's the only place to actually get Peking Duck which is exceptional.\r\n\r\nBRING BACK the DIM SUM!!

After moving back to the states from the U.K. I feared that I'd never find take out chinese to come even close to meeting my new expectations, had actually purposely avoided eating chinese after my return. At the insistance of co-worker's I had tried Wang's and a few others.... each time unimpressed. \r\n\r\nOne afternoon I came across a Peking Garden menu in an old menu folder at work and decided why not. First of all I was impressed by the variety of items on the menu, while the old favorites are offered so are a few original and unexpected dishes. My first time ordering the food was excellent, and delivered quickly.. however my appetizer was missing. I called and was reasurred that the next time I ordered that they would make up for it. Well, tonight I ordered again.. I explained what had happened before and was told no problem. I got my food, quickly and still steaming hot. Not only did I receive my free app, but I got a double order (I even checked just to make sure that I wasn't charged). \r\nThe food is excellent, among the best chinese I've ever had.... I appreciate the quick delivery and friendly service.\r\n\r\nI HAVE noticed that the bill can really add up, however each time I've felt that I received exactly what I paid for. I also like that the take out is delivered in nice plastic sturdy containers with tight lids. No styrofoam or paper boxes that come apart and leak all over the place.\r\n\r\nI've never gone in to eat, however after reading reviews I'm curious about these friendly fish they keep talking about..\r\n\r\nI vote Peking Garden a 12

Pros: Not greasy, freshly made, quick, and well presented....even the take out.

Cons: A little pricey, but worth it.

Not only was the food DELICIOUS, but the restaurant itself was breath-taking. Service was also impeccable. When I found out they do private parties, I immediately booked the place for my wedding reception! My friends and I all say Peking Garden's the best Chinese restaurant in town.

We'd heard this restaurant was the best in the Triangle, blah blah, blah, and ordered delivery...we got our food 1.5 hours later and there was so much HAIR in it....it was inedible! It was just like someone had cleaned out their hair brush in it. And when we called to complain? We were put on hold and then hung up on, numerous times. I will never ever go there again. I was expecting something stellar, something ... epic ... but there was so much hair it was hard to overcome. None of us ate it, and we didn't get any sort of reimbursement or apology or anything. Horrendous customer service. Absolutely terrible! I'd go for Wang's Kitchen any day!

This isn't the GREATEST chinese food you'll have, but it's some of the best in the Triangle. The food is not oily and is cooked without MSG. We've tried several of our favorites off the menu and have been pleased with the flavor and quality of meats. Items that are traditionally heavily coated/fried are often prepared with a thinner, lighter coating/breading. The vegetables are crunchy. We do delivery and dine in and have had positive experiences for both. The restaurant is clean and the food seems to be above the usual chinese carry-out quality.

This is the second Chinese restaurant we've tried since moving to Raleigh 6 months ago. I was intrigued to see it had a 9.0 rating so decided to try it. The food was bland and dry. There was no flavoring...it was just spicy. I ordered delivery and luckily I called back because I wasn't told upfront they charged me $4 for delivery evan for being within 5 miles (not disclosed on their website menu). I'm still on the hunt for the best chinese in town. If others think this is worth a 9.0, then I've got the name of a few places up north that are 15+

The food is wonderful but the service is less than desirable. The website states they deliver, but there's a catch. They do not deliver lunch. To top it off they run a lunch special, but don't tell you until you get there to pick up your food that even though you are paying the same price for your meal as someone who dines in you do not get the soup that is included in this special. Why pay for what you're not getting? I recommend saving your money and going else where.

Our regular Chinese restaurant is across town and we wanted to try a place closer to our Six Forks address, that's why we tried Peking Garden. The decor is absolutely lovely! I was very imporessed. The service was excellent, the food was high quality and very fresh, and the overall visit was a good value for the money. My only ""con"" is that I prefer a more heavily seasoned Chinese meal and this meal was not only light (not greasy at all!) but was also light on flavor (ginger, pepper). Still, I recommend Peking Garden.

I've been coming here for years. I wrote a review in June 2005 ... everything I said in the review about the food is still true.\r\n\r\nHowever, the service has, over the years, degenerated from different/ok to downright insultingly awful. As the poster before this mentioned, the take-out service is just INCREDIBLY HORRIBLY AWFUL. They WILL either a) lose your order, b) forget one item out of your order (most often: the rice, which is kind of important), c) make you sit and wait twice as long as they estimated, only for your food to come out of the kitchen cold, or d) make you sit and wait twice as long as they estimated, only for them to finally realize that your food was sitting right next to the front counter the entire time. I am not exaggerating -- in recent months one of these scenarios has befallen EVERY ONE of my take out orders. The staff seems increasingly unhappy and will take it out on you, kind diner. The fact that there generally is no one at the front to greet customers should be taken as a bad sign -- it is. The greeters/hosts/hostesses they do have are spectacularly unfriendly. Beware the young fellow with glasses -- if he is at the front desk, YOUR EVENING WILL NOT GO WELL.\r\n\r\nI am going to miss the food. I have probably spent $100/month at this place over the last 5 years. But no more. They finally drove me away.

Cons: Worst Possible Service

My experience at Peking Garden was unbelievable. Peking Garden is the epitome of great Chinese food. My first time was a few weeks ago and I haven't looked back since. Their traditional dishes are to die for. Try the Peking Duck, Royal Crispy Shrimp, the SZECHUAN FISH (absolutely delicious), I can just go on and on. If you like Chinese food, you will not just like it but LOVE it once you try Peking Garden.

Peking Garden cooks the best authentic Chinese cuisine in Raleigh. Try the traditional menu. It's the best part. Vegetable tofu roll, tender hot and spicy chicken, and royal crispy shrimp are my personal favorite. \nAlso visit the koi fishpond, the fishes, Johnny and Tony, are very friendly. Be sure to stop by and pet them.

I love Peking Garden! This place is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been in. It has a variety of delicious entrees on the menu to choose from, a serene atmosphere that's very soothing, and an incredible fishpond with really friendly fish. Peking Garden is the most authentic Chinese restaurant in town and I highly recommend this place to anybody.

Among the worst, if not the worst food in the triangle...\nThis is the worst food I have ever tasted. The meat was even not cooked thoroughly, the vegetable was tooooo salty and I had to leave with my still-empty stomach. It was a horrible experience.

I really enjoyed eating there. The ambience is so great. I was relaxed when watching their koys and gold fish. Their traditional chinese food such as Ginger Lamb and Orange Beef is so delicious and their service is excellent.

This is a cool restaurant. The chinese food here is very authentic, with the exception of Cody's on Glenwood South, probably the most authentic in town. Not a buffet, but you get good helpings and I'm telling you.....the food is great. The prices are affordable and the service is as I would expect at a chinese restaurant, fast and prompt. You've got to pet the fish when you go, they won't bite.
